you could play GREAT music from the Moodys for decades..... Keep the Faith... R.I.P Mike Pinder, Graeme and Ray. Share you art in Heaven sirs... We will long enjoy it on earth....you left us with great gifts...
I still cry listening to the lyrics and music. I am a lifelong fan, almost 72y/o, I've seen them in concert twice, and I still remember their lyrics on many of their songs, full of deeply spiritual messages. I wish people would listen closer to their messages, so worth it.
Thanks for the Moody Blues reaction! This is a brilliant song written by keyboardist Mike Pinder. The lyrics are powerful. They begin by describing the sad state of the world we live in, but, as in almost all of the Moodies songs, it reminds us that the answers we need are found in love and seeing the world through the eyes of a child.
I have always loved every song of theirs I ever heard, and they are all different. I am 73 and never paid any attention to the messages of any song except to sing along. Especially when the music is as good.I never knew the meanings behind their songs or any sings.I love music and drums and harmony ,the overall sound.I don't remember ever really caring about words to songs except to sing along. The messages in their songs is as true today as then, but, I still love the overall sound.
My favourite band when I was a kid, and if anything, I appreciate them even more now. The 'core seven' albums still sound 'fresh', imaginative and well meaning. Okay, their 80's releases were a bit commercial but only mildly compared to others but do listen to their last album, December (2003). And Justin Hayward since embarked on a remarkable second career, at the same encouraging young talent.
I like the next line even more… “Children from a family tree that's longer than a centipede Started long ago when you and I were only love “.. as God created us, as we still are. New Horizens is beautiful and Land of Make Believe as well. Then there’s the ‘other song’ about Timothy Leary; When You’re A Free Man.
This song expresses the despair of the young generation in 1970. Unfortunately the same generation can't claim to have improved the situation. Some might have tried, many never bothered. Of course, much has changed but is it any better? Great song from a great album.
Hari, this is an amazing song it makes the hair on the back of my neck stick up fantastic song. However, you should listen to these also by the Moody Blues: One More Time to Live, Legend of a Mind, Hugher & Higher, Have you Heard, Eternity Road and Are you Sitting Comfortable.
The album which concluded the long phase “part one” of the re-invented Moody Blues in 1972. From the inception in 1967 with their concept album Days Of Future Passed . Seventh Sojourn produces eight tremendous songs written by each band member, and they exude their own individual message, as clearly portrayed by this song from Mike. For my part, I didn’t discover this band until 1982, but every time I hear “Nights”, I am transposed back to 1967 as a 12 year old! They are so underrated, but well received by young listeners of today.
Love Is the answer. "Come on my friend, we've got to bend, on our knees and say a prayer". "New Horizons", from Seventh Sojourn, should also be given a listen. Merry Christmas, Harri!
Great song of revelation by this amazing group. And not only pertinent back then but prophetic as well. Things are even worse now as corruption and evil have found their way deep into the entire system worldwide. Overwhelming.😰
Mike Pinder, who died just 4 days ago, is singing the lead in this song, and he also wrote the lyrics. He then dropped out of the band after this album, and the band broke up. This song was released in 1972, when VIETNAM was raging, racial riots, civil rights issues, USA/RUSSIAN had troops in Vietnam and around the world. I do know that Mike was having mental problems that led to the breakup of the band, and he no longer wanted to tour with the band. I believe the whole thing was just too much for him, as Mike was the "unofficial" leader and spokesman of the band at that time and was responsible for bringing Justin Hayward into the band. RIP MIKE. Journey well.
One of my all time favorite bands playing such an eclectic variety!Hari my sentiments are exactly the same as yours!Just do good for others and care about one another and it will become infectious!
There will never be a another philharmonic rock band like the Moody Blues. They had The London Philharmonic Orchestra as back up. Every musician from that era all had a message of one kind or another.
I grew up a prog nerd, listening, nay, memorizing, committing to heart, all of their songs, including this one. Meditating on the album art, preferably whilst in a state of mind conducive to advanced concentration, was part of the regimen of flower children in their preparation for better schools down the road. Prog lyrics were the closest thing to Milton, whom no one, in their ripe mime, memorizes anymore. Every song on the Seventh Sojourn album seemed to be exactly as good as every other song, with the last song, perhaps being the commercial toss-off. The video really brought this one to the fore. It was probably my favorite. I have an occasional melancholy side, which Mike Pinder satisfies every time. Hear: "Melancholy Man". Happy holidays from Carolina!
What a Super Analysis!! I was always digging the Groove like you said and didn't pay attention to the words. I think we all should listen closer and heed the advice and warnings. Thanks , Man. You're the best!
I have said it before on your program if you take the album Days of Future Past and each album on the way to the 7th album seventh sojourn those are the seven Thunders that utter their voices in The Book of Revelation chapter 10 these Moodys blues albums lead you In a musical lyrical way to Christ on the 7th album, and on your sojourn you learn love you fellow man and Christ is the answer. Hallelujah
Another GREAT Reaction video Harri... ! LOVE The Moody Blues and their DEEP and Metaphysical lyrics and Vibe... when you mentioned Love Will Find A Way , I immediately thought of the song by Pablo Cruise of the same name, Love Will Find a Way... I don't know if you've already Reacted to that one yet or not... but if not, you may enjoy it as well ! I appreciate you! S.
You should do a reaction to their song: Melancholy Man. I think it is even more powerful than this song. It sounds like it's about judgement day from the lyrics. I also think the melody is more melodic than this song.
Eu ouço os Moody desde os 10 anos agora tenho 59 esta banda tem realmente trabalho muito bom e acho mesmo interessante é ter músicas tão intemporais Moody forever obrigado pelo vídeo e pela opinião.
Luv your Channel! Have you listened to any music by Jimmie Spheeris from USA.? ISLE Of Mercury's Album my favorite of his. Sadly lost in early 80s. I've noticed u get emotional. Jimmie will claw at your heart!
The opening track off their last great album. I remember getting it for Christmas from my Mom and Dad. Hope your Holidays are filled with joy and great music like this. Happy Holidays everybody!
A band who could write such thought provoking lyrics, but record their message in such a melodic and enjoyable way.
Well said Keith Jones.
you could play GREAT music from the Moodys for decades..... Keep the Faith... R.I.P Mike Pinder, Graeme and Ray. Share you art in Heaven sirs... We will long enjoy it on earth....you left us with great gifts...
I've been singing this since 2016: in 2001 I was honored to have a 3 hour dinner with Mike Pinder - let Merlin cast his spell
Mike Pinder is a poet of peace and love. More poets, please, and fewer Putins.
I still cry listening to the lyrics and music. I am a lifelong fan, almost 72y/o, I've seen them in concert twice, and I still remember their lyrics on many of their songs, full of deeply spiritual messages. I wish people would listen closer to their messages, so worth it.
A masterpiece my Mike Pinder. A very powerful song musically and lyrically. Come on my friend, we've got to bend on our knees and say a prayer
That is such a great line, very hopeful and powerful.

Wow what a group--I so glad that I got to see them in concert!!!!!!
I saw them 11 times.
Funny how I've heard this song sooo many times through the years but have never "heard" the song before. Thank you for bringing this to me Harri.

I remember listening to this song after the Uvalde tragedy...and crying like a 70 year old man.
Still relevant from more than 50 years ago... I'm 68 1/2 and this song will always resonate.
I like the next line even more… “Children from a family tree that's longer than a centipede
Started long ago when you and I were only love “.. as God created us, as we still are.
New Horizens is beautiful and Land of Make Believe as well. Then there’s the ‘other song’ about Timothy Leary; When You’re A Free Man.
One of my favorites. Pinder always added such depth to their music.
This song expresses the despair of the young generation in 1970. Unfortunately the same generation can't claim to have improved the situation. Some might have tried, many never bothered. Of course, much has changed but is it any better? Great song from a great album.
We did try. Made a few things better, but not nearly enough. Getting old, hope someones will take the ball and carry it forward?
This song was a warning of sorts. The trends back then have only gotten worse as we find ourselves now in Revelations. The full revealing of evil.
Seventh Sojourn. Definitely one of their best albums.
One of the 7 essential moodies albums.
My favourite Moodies song.
It is a prayer... in the form of a song... they were very deep..... most of their music was that way if you read the lyrics..
Scott, there are so many terrific songs by The Moody Blues and this certainly is one of them. Splendid pick and fine review by Harri!

New Horizons is my favourite Moody Blues song, just beautiful!
G'Day... remember that this was about the world in 1972.... Progress they call it ???
Mike Pinder is amazing, such a unique songwriter. He has a magical way of integrating the mellotron into his stories... what a gift.
MIKE PINDER , un chef d'oeuvre , avec ce mèllotron qui n'en fini pas de nous enchanter , .... c'est grandiose ....
Great song of revelation by this amazing group. And not only pertinent back then but prophetic as well. Things are even worse now as corruption and evil have found their way deep into the entire system worldwide. Overwhelming.😰
This song was definitely a showcase for Mike Pinder's primary musical instrument in the band. He was masterful in his use of the mellotron.
You are mistaken, by this point, Mike Pinder had abandoned the unreliable, and tempremental Mellotron for the Chamberlain.

Mike was the soul of the Moody Blues. After he left they became more of just a pop group.
The producer, Madlib has introduced me to so many classic songs i would never know of
The good stuff😁☮️🌎
Have you ever heard Pink Floyd On the turning away. Moody Blues and Pink Floyd are my favorite groups.
You are easy to watch. Thank you. The Moody Blues are heavyweights.

i woke up today
i was crying
i had to change
my mind
Not forgetting the more rocky song Question .
People really are 'Lost in a Lost World'....by design of course
It's time for you to play melancholy Man, my brother.
Thank you, Harri. Love your thoughts about this.
Harri please consider doing Blue Guitar by Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues 🙏🏽
So many people, and now we have twice as many
Another GREAT Reaction video Harri... ! Indeed! A powerful observance, conveyed in a powerful song.
Thanks, haven't heard this in ages.... Not much has really changed tho....

A spiritual group must inevitably have a song that talk about the last days.
Back in my youth I quickly learned that tripping on acid with the moodies was such a spiritual journey.
I listened to the entire In Search of the Lost Chord album on acid, in Hawaii, 70s.
Eu ouço os Moody desde os 10 anos agora tenho 59 esta banda tem realmente trabalho muito bom e acho mesmo interessante é ter músicas tão intemporais Moody forever obrigado pelo vídeo e pela opinião.

Love is my religion by Ziggy Marley is a good tune. You said it Harry.
you're right, love is the answer, as stated by the Beatles... when will the world learn !!
The intro sounds like Talking Heads! (Talk Me to the River.)
a perfect compliment to this is another Mike Pinder song called Mikes No. 1
The opening track off their last great album. I remember getting it for Christmas from my Mom and Dad. Hope your Holidays are filled with joy and great music like this. Happy Holidays everybody!
