Thanks again for the video. It will be awesome when you have the complete set. Have to agree that section is not so good. I don’t remember much of it as I was head down in the rain, just wanting to get to Worksop for a pint. But I do remember that Worksop lock area being minging!
A geat video! Such a shame about Worksop. I spend a lot of time on the stretch between Shireoaks and Kiveton Station (the tunnel portal gives me the creeps, so I stay away from there....), and love it. This is the first of your videos I have seen, so shall now catch-up, and also look foward to seeing your future ones - especially Retford, a place I love as well. (Although for your next one, I shall look away as you go past the Pumping Station as that gives me the creeps too - and anyone passing it ALWAYS films it! (And yet, the woods and quarries up towards Kiveton do not frighten me at all..... even in the dark), Keep up the great work - it is appreciated
Thank you ever so much. Glad you enjoyed it. I agree there is something eerie about the tunnel. Though would love to go in. I'll keep an eye out for the pumping station!! The section between Shireoaks and Kiveton is my favourite part so far.
I was literally on that section today joining up a couple of bits that I had to do separately, I took your advice and parked in the large pub car park. I have to agree that the part into Worksop needs some work, that's being kind, but as you say it has tremendous potential. Having done what you are doing but from the Eastern end, I can tell you that there are some very nice sections coming up, the only urban part being Retford and that is still very picturesque.
I'm looking forward to the Worksop - Retford and Retford - (wherever) sections. I moved to Retford three years ago and find the walk along the canal through the town quite pleasant. There is an unusual waterway-over-waterway crossing in Retford just behind Asda, where the canal bridges over the River Idle. I think there might be another similar crossing in the east of Worksop where the canal bridges the River Ryton.
Cheers Greg. I've been looking forward to the sections east of Worksop. I decided to leave them until we were into a little more pleasant weather, so looking forward to getting out in the next few months.
PS if you’re looking for other video ideas the Five Pits trail is good with plenty of railway history. Also the Silverhill/Terversal trail from Tibshelf to Pleasely pit and back via the Skegby trail is a good walk.
Ah yes I go past the Five Pits path all the time near Heath. I always keep saying I need to go give it a recce one day. I've not heard of the Silverhill or Teversal ones I must admit. So many exciting ones to check out.
I think Worksop needs a bit a work altogether. Lockdown hasn't been kind to it unfortunately. Some of the houses and gardens coming into worksop are nice though
I agree. I think a lot of places have declined slightly recently for various reasons. Looks like someone has been up since I went and done a bit of work to try and make it a bit nicer.
Thanks
Thank you ever so much Neil. 🙂👍
Enjoy all your videos keep up the good work young man i am down on the Kennet and Avon
Fantastic to hear from you all the way down there! 👍🙂.
Looks so pretty.

It's just dawned on me I'm not even half way to the River Trent 😄.
I can't wait to get to the next section.

@@WobblyRunner Yeah, some bits of the towpath through Retford can be a bit gooey underfoot in the wrong weather.
@@gregsherlock5119 😄 I found that out near Worksop too when I started walking it over winter
The birds you pointed out at Morse lock are not cuckoo's, they are in fact choughs which are on the crest of the town if Retford.
Good to know 👍. I had no idea about that. Learn something new every day.

You'll have to show me that Skegby Trail one day ;)
I stand by those comments :-) Was that really only 7 months ago I said that. Seems longer for some reason!
Road de sha is how it's pronounced 👍
