did you know about that little blue pie chart when in the mirror option box where you were selecting the offset and whatnot, if you click that little blue pie chart it will slow down or speed up your adjustments relating to the option box.
The second method (with instance) could be even simpler. Position and orient a pivot along the edge that sits in the middle of the mesh. Then bake it (Modify>Bake Pivot). Maya would calculate the exact angles for all the axis that you can see in Channel Box. Instance the mesh, reset (zero out) the rotation angles so it's easier to make adjustments. Once done with mesh modifications you can match the rotation with the original mesh (Modify>Match Transformations>Match Rotation).
It just occurred to me, you don't even need to match transformations because all the changes you are making to the instance will be reflected in the original mesh. So the final step would be just to delete the instance.
hey idk if your gonna see this but i am making a tank treads and after creating the treads i can no longer select the mesh treads only the curve how can i select the mesh?
Nice tricks, thank you!, now I have one question. In the second trick about the instance minute 11:30. What if you have to combine another mesh to the object?, that would break the instance, how to overcome that issue? I'd like to use this trick with a lot of screws objects that were positioned in several parts, once I combine the mesh all the instances break.
@@jlmussi thanks again. Creating new instances mean that I would have to re-position the new instances again, which is kind of hard specially when dealing with lots of objects like in the screws example.
Sir what to do if there is a problem happening repeatedly in maya. Because whenever I work on maya it works properly for a while but suddenly when I click right button rather than showing options, 2d pan gets on itself and it dosen't shows that options . even if I off 2d option than also I click right button for options 2d pan gets on and it dosen't show options. what can I do now , Can you help me to get rid of this problem.

you are the master
Hey JL Mussi. Are you planning on doing a paid course some time in the future?
Yes, coming next year.

Mirror should not break the instance. Extracting or detaching will.
@@jlmussi thank you for your answer!, however, lets say that we have to combine the mesh, what to do when the instance breaks?
@@ArsidesM Yes combine and separate will break an instance. You could always combine your mesh, and create a new instance.
