I’ve always thought that on a 5 star character’s birthday they should have a one day banner and on a 4 star character’s birthday they should be rate up on standard banner

Chronicles wish should have been permanent alongside standard banner. Just rotate the region every 2 patch is fine and we will get every character rerun with in half a year.
Shenhe I believe took over a year for her first rerun. Now she’s going into two years for her second. I think it’s time for triple banners Chronicle wish is obviously too unreliable to even to consider since they aren’t putting them in nearly often enough
Yea I got her on her rerun and someone told me not to because I didn’t have ayaka yet but Ayaka had plenty reruns and I’m glad I got Shenhe and didn’t wait!
That wouldn't really fix the issue, I think. They keep releasing characters extremely often, so triple banners would eventually run into the same problem that dual banners are facing
The fact that I for some reason have her weapon but not her, I can't even pull her because she's not rerun since the last time I pulled on her weapon (It's been so long I don't even remember why I decided to pull on her weapon banner)
@@Boricosa just do the same thing hsr did. they added triple banners alongside the normal banners. and the next one is going to be only 2 months after the last one. or just run the chronicled wish differently, change the stupid "the chara has to have not appeared for long and 3 banners!!!" and just rerun random characters
Same here! I joined august 2023, and same with Shenhe. Fell in love with her immediately, even after a year+ of playing she's still one of my favorite characters, I have all materials and artifacts prepared since january, AND STILL NO SHENHE. I'll def have to swipe my card to get her weapon as well bc I ain't waiting 2 more years...
Same exact situation and starting date. I feel you very close my friend. I have materials and artifacts for both of them and still waiting (i thought they would be on banner because of their new skins but...oh well). Let's hope for 5.3
My only Cryo option...that isn't 4 star is Qiqi.....and out of rage.... I haven't built her ..... She made me lose my Yelan 50/50 after coming back to play 2 years later...... right after my birthday too 😭

There's quite a few different options to improve the 5* issue -Birthday Banners: On the Birthday of the character, you can pull on them -Triple Banners -Custom Banner, as you mention in the video -More regular Chronicled Wish Banners: These can be kept with different regions, like Mondstandt, Inazuma, etc. or Element Chronicled wishes or certain themes, such as Harbingers / Archons in the future. -Second Chance Banners: 2 patches after a character comes out, they are guaranteed to get a rerun, alongside the regular banners (though I guess this is just a different iteration of triple banners) Any even with all these options, hoyo chooses nothing 😭
Lyney is not even a popular characters. His usage rate is always lowers than Wriothesley. I also don't think many players will pull for Lyney because now Arlechinno exist.
@Camelia437 5.2 is just so weird lol, if they wanted to dump unpopular units they should give Neuvi spot to Wrio and if they wanted to make it attractive its Lyney's spot that should be given to Wrio. (Not that he would make crazy sells but he is definitely more hyped up than Lyney)
Make your own banners are actually pretty common in other gachas, usually for their anniversary, now that they've introduced standard banner selector I wouldn't be surprised to see that come in the future.
I think it would be cool if characters rerun on their birthday. It would make it so that there’s always a guaranteed day that a certain character shows up so banners ATLEAST rerun once per year.
Wriothesley, Shenhe, Kokomi, Heizou, Charlotte...All some of my fav characters. Unfortunately I only started Genshin in 4.6. Back then it was said Wriothesley was getting a rerun soon, that never happened🥲 Hoyo really needs to change something or have a fairer rerun system!

Feel you!! I started right around 4.0 and opted for venti instead on wriothesley’s launch because I had just gotten Neuvillette as my first 5 star and didn’t think I needed another good dps just yet. I also have a personal mission of collecting all the archons (pre Mauvika I’m just missing Raiden and Zhongli because I lost on both of raiden’s last two banners) and I genuinely don’t regret that decision because venti was a huge help to my account in terms of exploration and anemo support before I could finally get my hands on Kazuha. Though it’s absolutely ridiculous that Neuvillette and Lyney are both approaching their second reruns and Navia (who released after Wrio) has had her first already yet Wriothesley is nowhere to be found. I have a feeling even with Citlali we aren’t gonna get a massive cryo over haul until Shneznaya.

It's time to officially and finally remove the cryo element from this game, leaving 6 elements, and all currently existing cryo characters to be placed in the chronicle banner and never relaunched. This is not my desire, but believe me, it is much easier for the developers to do exactly this. Because they are scammers.

waiting even a year for a certain character is wild. a year is a long ass time. it should be 6 months MAX. i remember originally when i played genshin long before i played it regularly i lost so much interest in the game and dropped it when i learned how long i was probably gonna have to wait for raiden
The rerun problem extends to the weapons banner, too. I looked at a banner history spreadsheet pre-Natlan and there are 4-star weapons that have appeared 27 times and other 4-stars that have appeared 3 times. Why do we see Dragon's Bane over and over again but Waverbreake's Fin has only appeared 3 times. It came out in 2021, so between then and now (2024) it reran twice. Meanwhile, The Flute's appeared 15 times, and the Belle 14 times. Genshin dropped three new weapons this patch, but I doubt well see them ain at somepoint.
Yeah, they want to keep putting those standard banner four stars up, and the more weapon banner only four star weapons we get, the worse it will get for those weapon banner only four star weapons. Now, that's good for new players who want favs, but it is bad for people that have the fav need covered, because a four star weapon without refinements, especially if you're a player who pulls on the weapon banner so has five stars...
In the 18 months that I have played, the Xiphos' Moonlight has appeared only once. (I think. Prior to the recent update, I wouldn't pull on weapon banner, so it's possible that I didn't pay attention. Regardless, it hasn't run often.)
@@beverlyrussell8034 Xiphos moonlight is one of these weapons that seem tied to a specific character (or their signature weapon, but practically speaking that's the same thing) rerunning - it first appeared alongside Nilou in 3.1, then only ever reran when she too had a rerun, in 3.6 and 4.8. This information would be useful... if we could predict when a 5* character (here specifically Nilou) will get a rerun, but the whole Shenhe/Ganyu/Wrio fiasco shows that we absolutely can't, making it utterly useless. For all we know, Xiphos could rerun in a month or two, or it could never rerun again - there's no way to know and it sucks
YES FINALLY. Dragons’s Bane has run FOUR TIMES since the last Wavebreaker’s Fin run. AND unlike Fin it is already a standard weapon so you get copies of it regardless. I want to R5 my Fin for Rosaria but Hoyo almost never runs the limited weapons on the Banner.
Yeah, all those four star weapons you mentioned which are region inspired practically vanish when the new patch comes around. I checked wavebraker's fin and so the last time it appeared was in a banner surrounded by other standard banner 4 stars. Ugh. I didn't even notice how rare regional 4 star weapons were until last year. It actually made me decide to spend 50 wishes on the weapon banner in hopes of getting the Attack on Titan sword because the only other HP sword was Key. Going for 4 star weapons is such an easy way to waste primos.
Genshin should make the 3 four stars on any banner as selectable characters from a pool of four stars similar to how we select 3 resources that are needed in the battle pass. Should help players with getting constellations for characters they want.
They don't want that, though. They want FOMO, they want people to build different characters, and so on. They won't want people going for Benny, Xingqiu, Sucrose, and Xiangling to start with, and then Fischl, Yaoyao, and so on on. Personally, I'd like them to put a single token in the shop, that you can use as a constellation for any four star that has been out for, say 4-6 months. And the token would last 2-4 weeks before expiring, so no hoarding them ahead of time. This way, players can choose to make progress on four stars they have, but Hoyoverse still gets their fomo factor they'll want. Of course, that wouldn't help with a Heizou like situation.
It’s absolutely crazy to me that 3 of the character widely considered the most attractive and with a huge amount of fan art and popular support just aren’t getting reran at all. I really hope that the element changes help, but they also really need to make changes to how CC in general and freeze specifically work. Btw, I started the game recently, and since joining Shenhe was the character that I liked the most, both story and design. Was so bummed to find out I’ll probably never get her it feels like.

I think at this point for Shenhe specifically they're in a bit of a weird spot, since most likely they'll want to rerun her when Snezhnaya comes out, so if they rerun her now there'll suddenly be very little time in between her banners.
I've wanted Wriothesly for ages but when he first came out I didn't have enough primos to get him. I thought "no worries, I'll just wait 6 months and get him then" it's been over a year and I'm still waiting. It's so frustrating!
Me too, I even have him built (with peaceholder Yanfei) and it makes me so sad every time they announce the characters for next version and he's still not showing up
I've got that problem in Honkai Star Rail right now. I really want to get Silver Wolf. I had, since release, just "very casually" played the game, only logging in very rarely and then mostly just claiming some free stuff. I only started to REALLY play it actively shortly before Penacony. When Silver Wolf had her first rerun, last December I think. But I just couldn't make it, as I wasn't yet strong enough to farm all the Free Stellar Jades. And now I'm still waiting, with version 3.0 almost being there and no rerun banner for her in sight, not even from leakers. Compared to Genshin and Shenhe, it still hasn't been THAT long for Silver Wolf, but when you factor in how Star Rail still is a younger game and has less overall characters... I DO feel like it's SOMEWHAT comparable, all things considered xD
I’ve given up and stopped my payments to Star Rail partially because of this (the other reason being powercreep making old units not fun). I’m looking at some teams I want to play but can’t because the support that makes the whole team work together hasn’t rerun for a while and there is no 4* weaker version. Silver Wolf is one of them actually (for mono quantum to inflict quantum weakness debuff) and then I think it was Ruan Mei for break teams. Now I’m not paying HSR and waiting for Nintendo Switch 2 to come out and I’ll get a non gacha JRPG to get rid of Star Rail.
A third banner would have such a better solution than the Chronicled Wish Banner, but we're a point 4 would make more sense. Heck, adding some to the standard banner might be an idea. All previous-region 4 stars should be in the shop, and maybe let you have some choice in selecting them from a set of options. I do like your idea too.
My mate quit the game because of how long Shenhe is taking to rerun. Waiting nearly 2 years just to get her is absurd, toying with our patience like this won't do Mohoyo any favors.
I think it's ironic that it's been so long since the last Tartag banner, since at one point he was known as The Rerun King because of how many reruns this guy got
I think the idea of a newcomer banner where you set a path for a 5 star of ur choice would be cool. Especially with the idea for 4 stars, like let's say you want Wanderer. The 4 stars would change accordingly, so Faruzan, Bennett, Yunjin, Layla, Mika etc.

I love your idea of an element banner. Imagine every half patch, we get an element focused banner with 4 or 5 5 stars and 4 stars, along with the featured character banners. That would be amazing.
My friends and I are welkin only spenders, and I have the most saved with 300 wishes. Not waiting to c6 or anything exciting, just waiting for the characters we want to actually come back (and preparing for the archon). That's how it is now. You have to save up ahead of time with how long it is between reruns :(
The main problem is greedy hoyo rerunning character based on meta instead of last banner period. Kazuha,raiden and neuvilette etc rerun 2 times before wriothesly even have one is ridiculous. 😢
Not meta, but sales. Admittedly, those two are often aligned, but it is an important distinction. Shenhe, for example, is meta for a lot of cryo teams. However, she's often the last member you want to get for the team, so even with being considered somewhat meta, she's not a priority pull. Therefore, low sales and, well, maybe after 5.3 she'll finally qualify for the Chronicled Wish banner. Wrizzy is also considered pretty good, but interest in him is low. He just doesn't resonate with most players. Then there's Chiori, who is pretty darn good, especially now with Xilonen in the mix... except she's crippled by the construct clause, which leads to low sales because she's too big of a hit for people with limited primos. It'll be a long time before we see her again, quite likely.
@Axterix13 meta also kinda affecting sales though since people influenced easily by RUclipsr and guide on internet. Wrizzy not quite meta though since he not that easy and op too use at c0. Shenhe meta quite old news though cryo have been out of meta since the dendro release. It's not that cryo not powerful, it's just that other elements are easier and faster to dish out damage.
Neither meta nor sales seem to be the reason. For 5.2 banners, Lyney is among the more under-saled characters and he is not meta, meanwhile Zhongli and especially Neuvi are the complete opposite (Neuvi first banner was not great in sales but the rerun was different).
shenhe is my favourite character design in all of genshin, and i started genshin a literal DAY after her banner ended. it’s like fate hates me. i have her skin and i am still waiting for her rerun
At this point I think I'm just gonna skip Mauvika in favor of Citlali or Chasca because she's the one I can most count on rerunning. Rerun situation is whack.
they should just give us a birthday banner so every character gets at least one rerun a year giving us triple banners would only be a short term solution because once we get enough characters we'll eventually start needing 4,5 or 6 banners just so everyone has a chance of getting a rerun,so a 1 day long birthday banner for each character on their birthday sounds a lot better of a solution(plus it'd be pretty f2p friendly since you know when a character is getting a rerun and can save beforehand)
I like this idea since it should not break the limited time offer advertising for the character to get them sued either… Something like standard banner pulls on a character’s birthday +/- 24 hours (3 day period) has a chance of dropping the character.
I started playing genshin a year ago this past October. I quickly found two favorite characters: Zhongli and Wriothesley. As a newbie I only had around a week before Wriothesley's banner ended and suffice it to say, it wasn't enough time to raise the primos I needed to get him. I kept playing the game believing he'd rerun in a few months. A year later, I've taken multiple breaks and even uninstalled the game completely at one point recently because my frustration with never having the chance to get my beloved, all time favorite characters was so overwhelming, it stole my joy in playing. I've now gone through a very large portion of the content of the game and the only content I have left is there chiefly because I saved it on purpose, not wanting to finally pull my favorite characters but have nothing to do with them besides logging on, doing dailies, logging off again. Genshin is a beloved game. It helped me through some very rough moments. It was heartbreaking for me to have this issue singlehandedly destroy the pleasure of playing a beloved game and I know others have experienced this as well. Whatever hoyo's reasons, this just shouldn't ever happen.
Is this a 1 year account or a 2 month old account? Relax, Zhongli is rerunning soon and Wriothesley *should* eventually rerun before the end of Natlan era... 2 month is not old enough to say you've been waiting.

The saddest part is that Zhongli is rerunning before Wriothesley ever had the chance to. And he's an archon... Good thing you will at least be able to get him! Archons, while they do take a year to rerun, still have more or less consistent reruns. As for Wriothesley, what happened to him is REALLY unfortunate. As all the other Fontaine units he was supposed to get at least 1 rerun, but for some reason they chose not to give him any. Chiori got a rerun before him, while being released way later. It's a shame, but I hope he reruns soon! While not really comparable, I started playing the game early into Sumeru, and the only character I really wanted to get at that time was Wanderer (I started playing just a version after his release, and he was pretty much the reason why I started playing). They put him off until the very last version (3.8), while rerunning units like Alhaitham who didn't even wait 3 versions. He was released after Wanderer, yet reran before him. It wasn't as long of a wait, but it still impacted my enjoyment of the game Xiao being another example: he only seems to come back every Lantern Rite, which is also pretty much a year between the banners. He's yet another character that I wanted to get after Wanderer, but I had to wait until Lantern Rite of 4.4 to be able to get him Cyno also took a decent while to rerun, and was yet another character I wanted to get. Released in 3.5, reran in 4.2 As for 4 stars, honestly Heizou is in such a bad state right now. I got lucky and got him from the standard banner just recently, otherwise I have no idea how long I would've had to wait for him. His last appearance was in 3.7, it's about to be 5.2 now... Still no Heizou in sight All of this to say that, the reruns are very unfair. And I do get you! It was pretty painful to wait half a year or even a full year to get your favorites, knowing that playing the game without them feels really unsatisfying. If Hoyo makes the players wait for so long just to get a character, what is the fun of playing the game? It just makes the players turn away and stop playing altogether. Not everybody is capable of being so determined to wait it out. Most people just lose interest in the game by that time There were many things for me to enjoy about the game while I was waiting, but I was essentially just running around with characters I didn't really care about. I'm not really a meta player, and I was still pretty new to the game, so I had no reason to pull for anyone else. Most of that time I was running around either with the starter team, with the very few 5 star units that I got from the standard banner (Mona and Qiqi), or with 4 stars that were utterly useless for me even then (like Xinyan...). I didn't even have a proper DPS until much later when I got Tighnari, who thankfully happened to be a character I like Yeah there was a lot to enjoy about the game content, but is there really a point when you can't even enjoy the characters or the gameplay itself? (Like fighting and whatnot. It was absolute pain with the little amount of units I had. My progress was basically standing still). Waiting for an uncertain amount of time to get your favorite character is VERY unfair, especially in a situation like yours
I came into the game DURING Kokomi's banner and missed out on her. Having her would mean a lot not only because of her healer kit, or her synergy with my world travel team where she'd be a perfect replacement for Barbera, it would also mean a lot because like i said, that was the first ever banner when i joined the game. I realised during that banner that she would have been a direct upgrade on my barbera use, so i even built my Barbera with lightly suboptimal gear, that'll be optimal for Kokomi when whe replaces barbera. But the day never came.
I'm so glas that I gat Wriothesly on his first run and Shenhe on her rerun, using them together is so much fun. I really hope they rerun soon so that other people can get them
I wanna get shenhe so badly but there's 2 problems: 1. She legit hasn't gotten a banner in years 2. She's a cryo support, and I don't need cryos until tsaritsa or when I get wriothesley 😭
I don’t understand why some people don’t count Chronicled as a rerun. If they are limited, and then they banner that you can get them on, it is a rerun. It’s not specially for them, but they are obtainable.
I started playing genshin in 4.2. Venti is my favorite character. It hurts that I haven't even gotten the chance to pull him after playing for a year and wanting him since the beginning.
He's definitely gonna have a banner in 5.x, now if i had to guess which patch, maybe 5.4 or 5.5 After zhongli, the only archon he'd have to compete for a spot is furina and mavuika's rerun. Other than that there is definitely gonna be a patch with him though so u should worry too much. Archons always gets a rerun each major patch
@@lolidemon3163 to add onto your statement, if I had to guess, I'd say Mavuika is definitely most likely to get her release banner in 5.3, as at least two of the previous archons had their release around x.2 version, but as we know from the livestream Mavuika is not in 5.2, so the next version it is. She'd have to wait at least 3 versions before being reran though, just like how Nahida and Furina had to wait So your guess is definitely correct. I feel like Furina MIGHT be likely to rerun in 5.4, but I kinda hope that's not the case (I need time to save up personally, plus putting Venti first would be nice for people who want to get him). If she isn't in 5.4, then Venti will be. Either way it's one of those two versions, so it's pretty soon
Hoyo holding back cryo characters might make financial sense too since people probably werent pulling on them due to their "weakneses". Sheznaya will definitely be the rebirth of cryo tho.
Sadly that's not the case. Chiori apparently had horrible banner sales, Lyney is not a terribly popular character, Baizhu is niche, yet they rerun them very fast. Geo was known as the dead element but geo characters are having no trouble getting a rerun. And Wriothesley's banner actually did really well considering he was stuck between the 2 most desirable 4.x characters, Neuv and Furina. Unfortunately I don't think "cryo doesn't sell" is the answer.
@@MJDanvers exactly. Geo is even worse of an element than Cryo if we look at it. Navia didn't revive Geo as an element, as she only utilizes crystalize for herself and needs at least one different element on the team other than Geo, she's also an ATK scaler. Xilonen didn't necessarily revive the Geo element either as she mainly supports non-Geo units (iirc having a mono-geo team with her is a bad thing as she wouldn't get her buffs up. Idk how she performs with Navia tho). Zhongli is a shielder that happens to be Geo, so didn't really affect Geo either. Yun Jin can be played with normal attackers like Yoimiya, but that's also not related to her element at all, and besides that she's still incredibly niche. Overall Geo barely has any resonance with other elements I mean I guess you could say that Xilonen and Navia are more useful than Cryo units right now, but their use is still very limited. You either play those units, or you play mono-Geo, which typically isn't people's choice Cryo in terms of reactions is still a much more versatile element than Geo: you have melt, superconduct, freeze... They also made skins for Shenhe and Ganyu while rerunning quite literally neither of them during Lantern Rite. Ayaka still seems to be a relevant character. Ganyu, Shenhe and Wriothesley are pretty anticipated characters as it's been a long time since their reruns. I hear much less anticipation for Geo units. I mean, Chiori reran pretty soon after her first banner. CHIORI, compared to Wriothesley who hasn't had his first rerun since 4.1. She had her first banner in 4.5 The only things that they did that were terrible are that Wriothesley needs C1 to be more comfortable to play, which is really unfortunate. Ganyu and Ayaka need Shenhe to be able to perform their best. And heck, Shenhe herself doesn't feel like a versatile unit, she's stuck with her niche and it's terribly hard to build her as a DPS or put her into any other kind of team. And 4 star Cryo supports? I barely see them. The only Cryo support I personally more or less see as useful is Layla, she's a pretty good shielder and kind of a budget version of Zhongli. Other than that, pretty much every Cryo 4 star is forgotten. Chongyun is incredibly niche. Diona is meh as a shielder and isn't really that good as a healer. Charlotte, although has one strong heal from her burst, she's still pretty much forgotten. Kaeya is a starter character so not much to say there. Mika is a Physical support with a niche kit for a niche playstyle. And Freminet basically being a 4 star Eula, who both also happen to be Cryo Though with all of that being said, I'm still confused as to why they can't rerun those units, but they're already going to eventually release Citlali who is a Cryo. Snezhnaya is still pretty far away, so I don't see how it would make any difference if they rerun Cryo characters now or later. Either way they can't rework old units, so in my logic Snezhnaya would only implement mechanics, enemies, or supports that would help Cryo rise again. So what's with the hold-up?
At this point, make the rerun banner an epitomized path, throw 3-4 units into it, if you miss on the first one then you get them on the second one. That's it. The main issue with Genshin is that as far as I can tell from the year i've been back is that they hard limit non-standard banners to 2, other gacha's I play and enjoy can have way more than 2 banners, this helps them bring back characters far more often and it helps people not feel as bad about NOT feel as bad if they miss characters, in Genshin if you burn everything you have and you miss then you may not see the character again for over a year.
Or they can just run an epitomized path banner every time a character hasn't had a banner in, say, a year... the moment that happens, take three of the longest that haven't had one, slap in 3 standard banner five stars so the 50/50 factor is there, then some of the four stars that rarely rerun, and go.
The first double banner came with Eula/Albedo back in 2.3. Double banners became permanent in 3.0. We are now in version 5.x and we're still running only double banners. We should be on permanent triple banners with occasional quads. If they don't want 3+ weapons on the banners all at once, they should reduce the weapon banner time to 2 signatures every 2 weeks instead of 2 every 3 weeks. For quads, it should be 2 every 10.5 days.
That doesn't really solve the issue though. With enough characters, eventually you'd have to rerun a character every week (Which they technically could.) What they need to do is have it similar to the weapon banner. Pick which character you want to work towards, and you still get the 50/50. All they have to do is pick a bunch of characters every week to throw into the available options, and cycle them through. Another helpful addition would be to make a birthday banner. They can reuse the code from the beginner Noelle banner.
same with me! i have 300 wishes saved for wriothesley (i want him and his c1) and then a further 75 for mavuika, which is only gonna build up because i don’t want any characters next patch
Some ideas: They could add a 'region' banner, with an epitomised path, and then rotate that with patches (say every two the region banner changes). 4*, double the amount in the shop, and everyone rotates through it After 1 rerun, the character is added to the standard banner pool. Add a few 5* to the shop on a rotating, price them > than worst case pull if you want. Also, add 'event' weapons to the shop too on a rotate
I thought the chronicled wish would be a permanent thing that just changes region every patch so i didn’t mind the problems it had. Then it wasn’t in the next patch so i thought it would be every other patch for sure. Then it never came back…
I had an idea for birthday cakes player gets on their birthday giving them a special birthday wish. Birthday wish could be used to instantly get a 5 star character you have wished on and lost and you still don't have them. For example: I wish on Kokomi, lose on her and later get my birthday wish. I still don't have her, so I use the wish and get her. It could be strong, but it would encourage people to wish on different banners, would make losing not that harsh and could lead to decreasing rerun problems a bit
Agreed. I'm brand new to Genshin as of June of this year. So I've been playing for 5 months now. I love the game ❤ but I missed out on ALL the previous characters and events so all I really have is the new Natlan characters. Which, im not complaining! They're great! But I want a chance to get some older characters too and I've no idea when they'll ever be available.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have stats such as "player pulls Shenhe -> soon stops playing", "player pulls Neuvilette -> player continues playing", or around spending, etc. to determine which characters to rerun.
I think it is more that they know how many people pulled on which banners, and that Shenhe just doesn't sell. She's a niche support, so that right there limits overall interest in her. At the time of her release, it was basically, "Do you play Ayaka?" Except even if you did, you'd probably still want Kokomi and Kazuha before you want Shenhe, as those characters are also key to her team, probably more so overall, plus can be used in many other teams. And when people have limited primos, plus there are other characters vying for their attention, that 4th slot character just isn't going to sell well. Basically, she's too niche to have wide spread appeal, and too weak to be a must have for her niche.
This is actually a really interesting metric for which if they do have, would be interesting to know abt. I know from back in 1.6 me and my friend had both recently started a patch earlier and lost our 50/50s on the zl banner but still were very positive and active. However, my friend pulled klee and just didnt enjoy the gameplay while i pulled kazuha back then cuz i didnt like child characters and have been an avid genshin player since while he's quit. Obviously this is a one off situation but Im sure there's plenty of other instances where strong characters just inherently make the game more fun for a large casual base

In many other gachas, a single banner can have multiple 5*/SSR characters, and yet still have two or more banners at the same time, allowing for not only a wider variety of characters to rerun at once (this way, there's almost always something to look forward to for everyone), but also shorter time between reruns. In genshin, this could easily translate as limited banners having multiple limited 5* each, with an epitomized path to select which one of them you want specifically (meaning that you could not only lose your 50/50 to a standard character, but also to one of the other featured limited 5*, and then get a guarantee for the one you selected) They could do it in multiple ways as well : either keep 2 banners, and make them have let's say two or three limited 5* on both (for a total of 4 to 6 limited 5* reruns per half, or 8 to 12 per patch). Or keep only one banner, and have four, five or more limited 5* on it. The former would work better if they ever wanted to release two new 5* star in the same half, as they could split them between the two banners, but this has never happened so it's not too much of a concern imo. And of course, who the various 5* are could be determined in a few ways : pure randomness without rhyme or reason (the classic hoyo way), or with an elemental theme (for instance a hydro only banner, etc), or a regional theme (Inazuma only etc), or simply go by either how old characters are (in terms of when they first released, which would in practice turn old characters into a sort of unofficial secondary standard 5* pool) or by how long ago their last rerun was For instance, let's just say they adopted such a system for the 5.3 version, we could have something like : - First half : a singular banner featuring the new 5* for this half, Mavuika, and then a bunch of pyro characters like Arlecchino, Yoimiya and Klee. This line-up does of course favor the shiny new character, but it does have variety : a strong character that at least some people are sure to select over the new 5*, and a few older characters that haven't rerun in a while and might otherwise never show up again - Second half : again, a singular banner with the shiny new 5*, Citlali, this time with a bunch of cryo characters like Wrio (finally !), Shenhe (finally !) and Ganyu (finally). Similar to the other one, this line-up heavily favors the new 5* but it does have a good assortment of reruns : a strong dps, a niche but powerful support and an old but still popular character - all of them in dire need of a rerun ASAP This specific variation is slightly tame since it only allows 8 characters per version (when frankly we'd need even more, like at least 10 if not 12), but it does come with an interesting benefit : technically speaking, you could select one of the rerun characters, lose the 50/50 and get the new 5* on the way (for instance, selecting Arle and losing the 50/50 to Mavuika). It's unlikely because you could lose to a total of 10 characters instead of the usual 7, thus diluting the odds, but still, it would certainly happen to someone, somewhere. Although, they could easily make it so you can't get the new 5* characters on a 50/50 during their very first banner or something like that
If you do the math, 365 days a year. Banners run for around 42 days usually so that's around 8 - 9 banners. If you times that by 2 since they run 2 now its 16 - 18. So 16 - 18 5 stars can be rerun or run per year but that is still insane for them to refuse to run certain characters even if it's limited in the amount that can run. I feel like they know what there doing with creating fomo and character scarcity.
I apologize for how long my comment is going to be but thank you for anyone who reads it :) I feel like Archons are an exception to the rerun issue because they only rerun when the next one is getting released. The amount of times I've seen Xiangling, XQ, Kuki, and Bennett is WAY too much. I swear I've seen one of those characters (or multiple in some cases) on banners like every other patch especially the pyro duo. I get they're great 4 stars but Charlotte never having a rerun and Sethos already getting one is insane to me. Not to mention there's 3 4 stars that never get a rate up. Up until recently some 4 stars were bound to specific 5 stars like Faruzan but they finally released her from Wanderer. I know you mentioned Chevruse has only been with Raiden (along with Sara) which is dumb to me because Chevruse is such a good 4 star. They really need to update the Paimon shop because majority of the 4 stars we can acquire from there rerun kinda often (except for the 3 that can't) and add a pity system for limited banners and maybe even standard. Of course they never will but it would be really nice. During the last Raiden banner I got 2 5 stars before I got my only copy of Chevruse, that's absolutely ridiculous. One thing I've thought of is they need to make more events like Lantern Rite but for every region, that way we can guarantee a specific 4 star. Even with that the older regions have way more 4 stars compared to sumeru, fontaine and natlan, plus every Lantern Rite adds a new 4 star for Liyue. For anyone curious Monstadt has 12, Liyue has 10, Inazuma has 7, Sumeru has 6, Fontaine has 4 and Natlan will have 2 when Ororon comes out. Triple banners could really resolve a lot of issues or even birthday banners so that way every character reruns once a year at minimum. If they do birthday banners the 4 stars could even be characters that synergize with them.
Kuki doesn't come up too often. Iirc this is her first banner she had since i started. Though benny/xiangling, yeah they need to be sent to the shadow realm
Speaking of 4 stars, still no Heizou in sight! Since 3.7! It's already about to be 5.2! If they don't rerun Heizou with Chasca I honestly don't know what to say anymore I'm glad they released Faruzan from the basement though. I got C2 Wanderer and still didn't get enough copies of Faruzan to have her C6. Only on Nahida's rerun during 4.4 was I able to get both Chevreuse is also a weird case because, I get that Sara is a dedicated support for Raiden, but Chevreuse?? She can be good with a lot of other units too. What if people already had Raiden and didn't have a reason to pull on the banners during Raiden's rerun? How can they guarantee to get Chevreuse? And Charlotte still not getting a rerun is kinda crazy. Although I guess it's kinda to be expected as pretty much every Cryo character is suffering from this, 4 star or 5 star The power trio definitely get reran too much. Yes they're useful, but by this point I feel like everyone has at least one copy if not C6 of each of the 3. It's good for new players, but they rerun TOO often. They also tend to prioritize rerunning a lot of very niche 4 stars for some reason. A lot of the recent banners I've seen throughout the entire time I've been playing for have honestly been pretty terrible. Those 4 stars are useless even for new players, both as supports and as DPS. Many new players lack good DPS characters, and Gaming and Heizou are incredibly strong 4 stars to have. Not everyone will be able to win their 50/50 or pull on a banner with DPS characters, so why not give them something good? It's already a miracle that we have the standard 5 star selector, so I guess there's that. But still, why gatekeep strong 4 stars or good supports OTHER than the national...
Triple banners dont resolve any issues really. Its the same as when we had single banners and said double banners will resolve the issue. It just delays it a bit but doesn't actually fix anything because of the rate of new 5strs being released. Birthday banners or an actually common chronicled wish banner (Like every alternate patch or somt) would help a lot more in alleviating the problems related to 5strs at least

Oh! I love the idea of a personal favorite character special banner. I think, though, the best place for it would be after the Liyue Archon Quest. That way you have enough time to get familiar with most of the game's characters in lore, play a few trials, see other units in co-op, etc. Then a new player is less likely to use their personal bonus banner immediately and regret their choice a week later.
If they throw they rules they put down out the window, and run it every other patch, chronicled wish is the answer, just get the wierd eligibility restrictions out of here and run 5+ units every other patch
As if waiting 500 days for Heizou to show up in an event was bad, he also took 500 days to get a 3rd rerun and he's going to be the last Anemo Character to be added to TCG. Being a Heizou Enjoyer is rough.
I am sure they are going to buff cryo through melt or pyro archon that’s why they’re holding them hostage because the moment they get the buff they will release them out to profit off them

I have played for 1 year on and off and never pulled whatever the first banner that usually has the new characters for natlan or fontaine. As a f2p player Im either saving for waiting for A-S tier characters reruns. I know its about money but it would be so fun to be playing some of the new characters. But i think the account is now in a good enough place i am pulling for chasca even tho i dont really like her too much i want to get some of these cool new mechanic characters and how it changes genshin.
Venti is literally first 5 star that everyone see when they start play this game so not to rerun him at all for more then a year is really bad for new players that started playing this game after his last rerun in October 2023 and want to get him...

I started playing late 4.3 because I wanted Wriothesley. I didnt really know how gacha games worked, and had googled multiple times if Wriothesley would 'be obtainable' again. I found out about reruns, constellations, upcoming characters pretty early on, with help of friends that played. I remember searching when Wriothesley would rerun, seeing people make videos announcing his return the next version, the version after that, etc. I started looking at leaks from there on, desperate at this point. AND I SEE THAT KAZUHA IS GETTING A RERUN 3 PATCHES AFTER HIS LAST? I SEE THAT LYNEY, WHO COMPARED TO WRIO, HAS A MUCH SMALLER FANBASE AND IS GETTING HIS SECOND RERUN? It has been 10 months since I started playing Genshin Impact, it has almost been a year. It is a fun game, my favorite game, but I still remember the reason WHY I started playing. Why I am STILL playing. 14 months is too long, a year is too long, man just give me my damn character.
I would assume so, but it's still such a weird move. They didn't gatekeep Pyro units before Natlan, some of the earliest released units in Fontaine were Pyro, like Lyney. And Hu Tao reran in 4.1. I guess maybe that's because Pyro is self-sufficient enough compared to Cryo, but still... Not even giving Wriothesley his first rerun, while simultaneously giving Chiori hers is diabolical. She was released after him in 4.5, and she's not even from Fontaine. What's worse is that she's a Geo unit, the very element that was deemed to be so bad that it was considered dead Heck, Citlali has a Cryo vision. She's definitely going to be playable, and she's from Natlan. She's still most likely going to be released before all of those Cryo units even get a chance to rerun, at least I presume that's the case. It's so weird
Surprisingly, as a player who started during Eula’s chronicled wish, I managed to C1 Heizou last month on the standard banner and Raiden’s most recent rerun.
I believe the 5-star characters being introduced in an update should increase chance of being pulled at the end of the story content, only during that update. The standard banner should have a 4-star rotation. Another option is to have completion of the 4-star hangout stories provide the character or constellation if the character is already owned. Now, if only there was a better way to earn Fragile Resin...
I was going to spend to pull Wriothesly c6 on his rerun, which should have come long ago. My response to their stupid banner schedule is to never pull until I get Wriothesly. Now I have saved enough for c6 without spending. Guess they don’t want my money, so be it.
As a new player I did not have the wishes for both Wrio and Neuv, so I went Neuv, thinking Oh Wrio will be back soon, as indicated from friends. :( Then I did the story and I fell in love with him and his style. Been waiting for his rerun banner with every update :( Had his materials pre farmed since the patch after his banner. But I shall keep waiting. Ontop of that Heizo was my first 4star I pulled on a banner, been also waiting for his consts forever too
I wish characters were available for 24 hours for their birthday. 5 stars get a mini banner, 4 stars in the Masterless Starglitter shop… Also when Chronicled appeared, there were no trial runs that newer players could try. What if someone wanted Klee but couldn’t test her, got her and didn’t like the gameplay? Bummer
I am a fan of once a year running a banner for every character of a region. The maximum amount of time you have to wait is one year for any specific character. The 4* will be hard to get.
I'm probably being cynical, but I wonder if the long droughts between character banners encourage players to save their primogems, and if players who save their primogems are more likely to keep playing while waiting for their favourite character. If you have like 100k primos saved up for Wriothesley, what are you going to do, stop playing and never get him? And Hoyo doesn't care if you spend your primos or not, they only care if you buy them (and/or welkins and BPs). It also builds FOMO for the rest of us: Better get Citlali on lauch because there's no telling when she's coming back, right? I'm not saying that this is all by design, just that I don't think Hoyo is that hard pressed to fix this problem.
As a f2p who saved for wrio when he was leaked and has saved up for his next rerun.... Yeah you right. Ive been playing everyday more addictively waiting for reruns than just when i was playing the game casually. And having this new banner announcement, instead of sighing and going offline for the next month im planning routes to get as many achievements and sidequests done as possible to save up more primos.

As they announced the first chronicled wish banner I thought they would have one every patch or maybe every second patch. But it seems we even have to wait for a chronicled wish banner maybe one full year. That clearly isn't the solution we were hoping for.

Chronicles wish should have been permanent alongside standard banner. Just rotate the region every 2 patch is fine and we will get every character rerun with in half a year.

That wouldn't really fix the issue, I think. They keep releasing characters extremely often, so triple banners would eventually run into the same problem that dual banners are facing
The fact that I for some reason have her weapon but not her, I can't even pull her because she's not rerun since the last time I pulled on her weapon (It's been so long I don't even remember why I decided to pull on her weapon banner)

There's quite a few different options to improve the 5* issue
-Birthday Banners: On the Birthday of the character, you can pull on them
-Triple Banners
-Custom Banner, as you mention in the video
-More regular Chronicled Wish Banners: These can be kept with different regions, like Mondstandt, Inazuma, etc. or Element Chronicled wishes or certain themes, such as Harbingers / Archons in the future.
-Second Chance Banners: 2 patches after a character comes out, they are guaranteed to get a rerun, alongside the regular banners (though I guess this is just a different iteration of triple banners)
Any even with all these options, hoyo chooses nothing 😭
They just don't care about us and I think will only start to listen once income will tank drastically, which is not likely...
At this point even tripple banners are to slow, to give a slot to every 5* within a year, so we reched the need of 4 chars per banner.

Lyney is not even a popular characters. His usage rate is always lowers than Wriothesley.

Make your own banners are actually pretty common in other gachas, usually for their anniversary, now that they've introduced standard banner selector I wouldn't be surprised to see that come in the future.
I think it would be cool if characters rerun on their birthday. It would make it so that there’s always a guaranteed day that a certain character shows up so banners ATLEAST rerun once per year.

Feel you!! I started right around 4.0 and opted for venti instead on wriothesley’s launch because I had just gotten Neuvillette as my first 5 star and didn’t think I needed another good dps just yet. I also have a personal mission of collecting all the archons (pre Mauvika I’m just missing Raiden and Zhongli because I lost on both of raiden’s last two banners) and I genuinely don’t regret that decision because venti was a huge help to my account in terms of exploration and anemo support before I could finally get my hands on Kazuha. Though it’s absolutely ridiculous that Neuvillette and Lyney are both approaching their second reruns and Navia (who released after Wrio) has had her first already yet Wriothesley is nowhere to be found. I have a feeling even with Citlali we aren’t gonna get a massive cryo over haul until Shneznaya.

It's time to officially and finally remove the cryo element from this game, leaving 6 elements, and all currently existing cryo characters to be placed in the chronicle banner and never relaunched.
This is not my desire, but believe me, it is much easier for the developers to do exactly this. Because they are scammers.

waiting even a year for a certain character is wild. a year is a long ass time. it should be 6 months MAX. i remember originally when i played genshin long before i played it regularly i lost so much interest in the game and dropped it when i learned how long i was probably gonna have to wait for raiden

The rerun problem extends to the weapons banner, too. I looked at a banner history spreadsheet pre-Natlan and there are 4-star weapons that have appeared 27 times and other 4-stars that have appeared 3 times. Why do we see Dragon's Bane over and over again but Waverbreake's Fin has only appeared 3 times. It came out in 2021, so between then and now (2024) it reran twice. Meanwhile, The Flute's appeared 15 times, and the Belle 14 times. Genshin dropped three new weapons this patch, but I doubt well see them ain at somepoint.
Yeah, they want to keep putting those standard banner four stars up, and the more weapon banner only four star weapons we get, the worse it will get for those weapon banner only four star weapons. Now, that's good for new players who want favs, but it is bad for people that have the fav need covered, because a four star weapon without refinements, especially if you're a player who pulls on the weapon banner so has five stars...
In the 18 months that I have played, the Xiphos' Moonlight has appeared only once. (I think. Prior to the recent update, I wouldn't pull on weapon banner, so it's possible that I didn't pay attention. Regardless, it hasn't run often.)
@@beverlyrussell8034 Xiphos moonlight is one of these weapons that seem tied to a specific character (or their signature weapon, but practically speaking that's the same thing) rerunning - it first appeared alongside Nilou in 3.1, then only ever reran when she too had a rerun, in 3.6 and 4.8. This information would be useful... if we could predict when a 5* character (here specifically Nilou) will get a rerun, but the whole Shenhe/Ganyu/Wrio fiasco shows that we absolutely can't, making it utterly useless. For all we know, Xiphos could rerun in a month or two, or it could never rerun again - there's no way to know and it sucks
YES FINALLY. Dragons’s Bane has run FOUR TIMES since the last Wavebreaker’s Fin run. AND unlike Fin it is already a standard weapon so you get copies of it regardless.
I want to R5 my Fin for Rosaria but Hoyo almost never runs the limited weapons on the Banner.
Yeah, all those four star weapons you mentioned which are region inspired practically vanish when the new patch comes around. I checked wavebraker's fin and so the last time it appeared was in a banner surrounded by other standard banner 4 stars. Ugh.
I didn't even notice how rare regional 4 star weapons were until last year. It actually made me decide to spend 50 wishes on the weapon banner in hopes of getting the Attack on Titan sword because the only other HP sword was Key. Going for 4 star weapons is such an easy way to waste primos.
Genshin should make the 3 four stars on any banner as selectable characters from a pool of four stars similar to how we select 3 resources that are needed in the battle pass. Should help players with getting constellations for characters they want.
They don't want that, though. They want FOMO, they want people to build different characters, and so on. They won't want people going for Benny, Xingqiu, Sucrose, and Xiangling to start with, and then Fischl, Yaoyao, and so on on.
Personally, I'd like them to put a single token in the shop, that you can use as a constellation for any four star that has been out for, say 4-6 months. And the token would last 2-4 weeks before expiring, so no hoarding them ahead of time. This way, players can choose to make progress on four stars they have, but Hoyoverse still gets their fomo factor they'll want.
Of course, that wouldn't help with a Heizou like situation.

It’s absolutely crazy to me that 3 of the character widely considered the most attractive and with a huge amount of fan art and popular support just aren’t getting reran at all. I really hope that the element changes help, but they also really need to make changes to how CC in general and freeze specifically work.
Btw, I started the game recently, and since joining Shenhe was the character that I liked the most, both story and design. Was so bummed to find out I’ll probably never get her it feels like.
We need a dedicated 4 star standard banner that runs like the chronicles wish banner. Make it have a single fate point

I think at this point for Shenhe specifically they're in a bit of a weird spot, since most likely they'll want to rerun her when Snezhnaya comes out, so if they rerun her now there'll suddenly be very little time in between her banners.
I've wanted Wriothesly for ages but when he first came out I didn't have enough primos to get him. I thought "no worries, I'll just wait 6 months and get him then" it's been over a year and I'm still waiting. It's so frustrating!

I've got that problem in Honkai Star Rail right now. I really want to get Silver Wolf. I had, since release, just "very casually" played the game, only logging in very rarely and then mostly just claiming some free stuff. I only started to REALLY play it actively shortly before Penacony. When Silver Wolf had her first rerun, last December I think. But I just couldn't make it, as I wasn't yet strong enough to farm all the Free Stellar Jades. And now I'm still waiting, with version 3.0 almost being there and no rerun banner for her in sight, not even from leakers. Compared to Genshin and Shenhe, it still hasn't been THAT long for Silver Wolf, but when you factor in how Star Rail still is a younger game and has less overall characters... I DO feel like it's SOMEWHAT comparable, all things considered xD

I’ve given up and stopped my payments to Star Rail partially because of this (the other reason being powercreep making old units not fun).
I’m looking at some teams I want to play but can’t because the support that makes the whole team work together hasn’t rerun for a while and there is no 4* weaker version. Silver Wolf is one of them actually (for mono quantum to inflict quantum weakness debuff) and then I think it was Ruan Mei for break teams.
Now I’m not paying HSR and waiting for Nintendo Switch 2 to come out and I’ll get a non gacha JRPG to get rid of Star Rail.

A third banner would have such a better solution than the Chronicled Wish Banner, but we're a point 4 would make more sense. Heck, adding some to the standard banner might be an idea. All previous-region 4 stars should be in the shop, and maybe let you have some choice in selecting them from a set of options. I do like your idea too.
My mate quit the game because of how long Shenhe is taking to rerun. Waiting nearly 2 years just to get her is absurd, toying with our patience like this won't do Mohoyo any favors.

I love your idea of an element banner. Imagine every half patch, we get an element focused banner with 4 or 5 5 stars and 4 stars, along with the featured character banners. That would be amazing.
My friends and I are welkin only spenders, and I have the most saved with 300 wishes. Not waiting to c6 or anything exciting, just waiting for the characters we want to actually come back (and preparing for the archon). That's how it is now. You have to save up ahead of time with how long it is between reruns :(

The main problem is greedy hoyo rerunning character based on meta instead of last banner period.
Kazuha,raiden and neuvilette etc rerun 2 times before wriothesly even have one is ridiculous. 😢
Not meta, but sales. Admittedly, those two are often aligned, but it is an important distinction. Shenhe, for example, is meta for a lot of cryo teams. However, she's often the last member you want to get for the team, so even with being considered somewhat meta, she's not a priority pull. Therefore, low sales and, well, maybe after 5.3 she'll finally qualify for the Chronicled Wish banner. Wrizzy is also considered pretty good, but interest in him is low. He just doesn't resonate with most players. Then there's Chiori, who is pretty darn good, especially now with Xilonen in the mix... except she's crippled by the construct clause, which leads to low sales because she's too big of a hit for people with limited primos. It'll be a long time before we see her again, quite likely.

Shenhe meta quite old news though cryo have been out of meta since the dendro release.
It's not that cryo not powerful, it's just that other elements are easier and faster to dish out damage.

Neither meta nor sales seem to be the reason. For 5.2 banners, Lyney is among the more under-saled characters and he is not meta, meanwhile Zhongli and especially Neuvi are the complete opposite (Neuvi first banner was not great in sales but the rerun was different).
I love your idea for the favorite 5-star banner with Lisa, Kaeya, and Amber! That would be such a good experience for new players!
shenhe is my favourite character design in all of genshin, and i started genshin a literal DAY after her banner ended. it’s like fate hates me. i have her skin and i am still waiting for her rerun
At this point I think I'm just gonna skip Mauvika in favor of Citlali or Chasca because she's the one I can most count on rerunning. Rerun situation is whack.

they should just give us a birthday banner so every character gets at least one rerun a year
giving us triple banners would only be a short term solution because once we get enough characters we'll eventually start needing 4,5 or 6 banners just so everyone has a chance of getting a rerun,so a 1 day long birthday banner for each character on their birthday sounds a lot better of a solution(plus it'd be pretty f2p friendly since you know when a character is getting a rerun and can save beforehand)
I like this idea since it should not break the limited time offer advertising for the character to get them sued either…
Something like standard banner pulls on a character’s birthday +/- 24 hours (3 day period) has a chance of dropping the character.
I started playing genshin a year ago this past October. I quickly found two favorite characters: Zhongli and Wriothesley. As a newbie I only had around a week before Wriothesley's banner ended and suffice it to say, it wasn't enough time to raise the primos I needed to get him. I kept playing the game believing he'd rerun in a few months.
A year later, I've taken multiple breaks and even uninstalled the game completely at one point recently because my frustration with never having the chance to get my beloved, all time favorite characters was so overwhelming, it stole my joy in playing.
I've now gone through a very large portion of the content of the game and the only content I have left is there chiefly because I saved it on purpose, not wanting to finally pull my favorite characters but have nothing to do with them besides logging on, doing dailies, logging off again.
Genshin is a beloved game. It helped me through some very rough moments. It was heartbreaking for me to have this issue singlehandedly destroy the pleasure of playing a beloved game and I know others have experienced this as well. Whatever hoyo's reasons, this just shouldn't ever happen.

Good thing you will at least be able to get him! Archons, while they do take a year to rerun, still have more or less consistent reruns. As for Wriothesley, what happened to him is REALLY unfortunate. As all the other Fontaine units he was supposed to get at least 1 rerun, but for some reason they chose not to give him any. Chiori got a rerun before him, while being released way later. It's a shame, but I hope he reruns soon!
While not really comparable, I started playing the game early into Sumeru, and the only character I really wanted to get at that time was Wanderer (I started playing just a version after his release, and he was pretty much the reason why I started playing). They put him off until the very last version (3.8), while rerunning units like Alhaitham who didn't even wait 3 versions. He was released after Wanderer, yet reran before him. It wasn't as long of a wait, but it still impacted my enjoyment of the game
Xiao being another example: he only seems to come back every Lantern Rite, which is also pretty much a year between the banners. He's yet another character that I wanted to get after Wanderer, but I had to wait until Lantern Rite of 4.4 to be able to get him
Cyno also took a decent while to rerun, and was yet another character I wanted to get. Released in 3.5, reran in 4.2
As for 4 stars, honestly Heizou is in such a bad state right now. I got lucky and got him from the standard banner just recently, otherwise I have no idea how long I would've had to wait for him. His last appearance was in 3.7, it's about to be 5.2 now... Still no Heizou in sight
All of this to say that, the reruns are very unfair. And I do get you! It was pretty painful to wait half a year or even a full year to get your favorites, knowing that playing the game without them feels really unsatisfying. If Hoyo makes the players wait for so long just to get a character, what is the fun of playing the game? It just makes the players turn away and stop playing altogether. Not everybody is capable of being so determined to wait it out. Most people just lose interest in the game by that time
There were many things for me to enjoy about the game while I was waiting, but I was essentially just running around with characters I didn't really care about. I'm not really a meta player, and I was still pretty new to the game, so I had no reason to pull for anyone else. Most of that time I was running around either with the starter team, with the very few 5 star units that I got from the standard banner (Mona and Qiqi), or with 4 stars that were utterly useless for me even then (like Xinyan...). I didn't even have a proper DPS until much later when I got Tighnari, who thankfully happened to be a character I like
Yeah there was a lot to enjoy about the game content, but is there really a point when you can't even enjoy the characters or the gameplay itself? (Like fighting and whatnot. It was absolute pain with the little amount of units I had. My progress was basically standing still). Waiting for an uncertain amount of time to get your favorite character is VERY unfair, especially in a situation like yours
I came into the game DURING Kokomi's banner and missed out on her. Having her would mean a lot not only because of her healer kit, or her synergy with my world travel team where she'd be a perfect replacement for Barbera, it would also mean a lot because like i said, that was the first ever banner when i joined the game. I realised during that banner that she would have been a direct upgrade on my barbera use, so i even built my Barbera with lightly suboptimal gear, that'll be optimal for Kokomi when whe replaces barbera. But the day never came.
Lyney getting his second rerun when it’s been over a YEAR and no wriothesley rerun in sight is fucking ridiculous.

I don’t understand why some people don’t count Chronicled as a rerun. If they are limited, and then they banner that you can get them on, it is a rerun. It’s not specially for them, but they are obtainable.
I started playing genshin in 4.2. Venti is my favorite character. It hurts that I haven't even gotten the chance to pull him after playing for a year and wanting him since the beginning.
He's definitely gonna have a banner in 5.x, now if i had to guess which patch, maybe 5.4 or 5.5
After zhongli, the only archon he'd have to compete for a spot is furina and mavuika's rerun. Other than that there is definitely gonna be a patch with him though so u should worry too much.

@@lolidemon3163 to add onto your statement, if I had to guess, I'd say Mavuika is definitely most likely to get her release banner in 5.3, as at least two of the previous archons had their release around x.2 version, but as we know from the livestream Mavuika is not in 5.2, so the next version it is. She'd have to wait at least 3 versions before being reran though, just like how Nahida and Furina had to wait
So your guess is definitely correct. I feel like Furina MIGHT be likely to rerun in 5.4, but I kinda hope that's not the case (I need time to save up personally, plus putting Venti first would be nice for people who want to get him). If she isn't in 5.4, then Venti will be. Either way it's one of those two versions, so it's pretty soon
I have never seen a Shenhe banner since I started playing and this is my third time pulling on a Lyney banner💀
Hoyo holding back cryo characters might make financial sense too since people probably werent pulling on them due to their "weakneses". Sheznaya will definitely be the rebirth of cryo tho.

Sadly that's not the case. Chiori apparently had horrible banner sales, Lyney is not a terribly popular character, Baizhu is niche, yet they rerun them very fast. Geo was known as the dead element but geo characters are having no trouble getting a rerun. And Wriothesley's banner actually did really well considering he was stuck between the 2 most desirable 4.x characters, Neuv and Furina. Unfortunately I don't think "cryo doesn't sell" is the answer.
@@MJDanvers exactly. Geo is even worse of an element than Cryo if we look at it. Navia didn't revive Geo as an element, as she only utilizes crystalize for herself and needs at least one different element on the team other than Geo, she's also an ATK scaler. Xilonen didn't necessarily revive the Geo element either as she mainly supports non-Geo units (iirc having a mono-geo team with her is a bad thing as she wouldn't get her buffs up. Idk how she performs with Navia tho). Zhongli is a shielder that happens to be Geo, so didn't really affect Geo either. Yun Jin can be played with normal attackers like Yoimiya, but that's also not related to her element at all, and besides that she's still incredibly niche. Overall Geo barely has any resonance with other elements
I mean I guess you could say that Xilonen and Navia are more useful than Cryo units right now, but their use is still very limited. You either play those units, or you play mono-Geo, which typically isn't people's choice
Cryo in terms of reactions is still a much more versatile element than Geo: you have melt, superconduct, freeze...
They also made skins for Shenhe and Ganyu while rerunning quite literally neither of them during Lantern Rite. Ayaka still seems to be a relevant character. Ganyu, Shenhe and Wriothesley are pretty anticipated characters as it's been a long time since their reruns. I hear much less anticipation for Geo units. I mean, Chiori reran pretty soon after her first banner. CHIORI, compared to Wriothesley who hasn't had his first rerun since 4.1. She had her first banner in 4.5
The only things that they did that were terrible are that Wriothesley needs C1 to be more comfortable to play, which is really unfortunate. Ganyu and Ayaka need Shenhe to be able to perform their best. And heck, Shenhe herself doesn't feel like a versatile unit, she's stuck with her niche and it's terribly hard to build her as a DPS or put her into any other kind of team. And 4 star Cryo supports? I barely see them. The only Cryo support I personally more or less see as useful is Layla, she's a pretty good shielder and kind of a budget version of Zhongli. Other than that, pretty much every Cryo 4 star is forgotten. Chongyun is incredibly niche. Diona is meh as a shielder and isn't really that good as a healer. Charlotte, although has one strong heal from her burst, she's still pretty much forgotten. Kaeya is a starter character so not much to say there. Mika is a Physical support with a niche kit for a niche playstyle. And Freminet basically being a 4 star Eula, who both also happen to be Cryo
Though with all of that being said, I'm still confused as to why they can't rerun those units, but they're already going to eventually release Citlali who is a Cryo. Snezhnaya is still pretty far away, so I don't see how it would make any difference if they rerun Cryo characters now or later. Either way they can't rework old units, so in my logic Snezhnaya would only implement mechanics, enemies, or supports that would help Cryo rise again. So what's with the hold-up?
At this point, make the rerun banner an epitomized path, throw 3-4 units into it, if you miss on the first one then you get them on the second one. That's it. The main issue with Genshin is that as far as I can tell from the year i've been back is that they hard limit non-standard banners to 2, other gacha's I play and enjoy can have way more than 2 banners, this helps them bring back characters far more often and it helps people not feel as bad about NOT feel as bad if they miss characters, in Genshin if you burn everything you have and you miss then you may not see the character again for over a year.
yeah hell even in HSR they just had a patch with FOUR banners in one phase not that long ago.
Or they can just run an epitomized path banner every time a character hasn't had a banner in, say, a year... the moment that happens, take three of the longest that haven't had one, slap in 3 standard banner five stars so the 50/50 factor is there, then some of the four stars that rarely rerun, and go.
We honestly need more noise on this. If the characters people wanted ran, they'd be making more money
The first double banner came with Eula/Albedo back in 2.3. Double banners became permanent in 3.0. We are now in version 5.x and we're still running only double banners. We should be on permanent triple banners with occasional quads. If they don't want 3+ weapons on the banners all at once, they should reduce the weapon banner time to 2 signatures every 2 weeks instead of 2 every 3 weeks. For quads, it should be 2 every 10.5 days.
That doesn't really solve the issue though. With enough characters, eventually you'd have to rerun a character every week (Which they technically could.) What they need to do is have it similar to the weapon banner. Pick which character you want to work towards, and you still get the 50/50. All they have to do is pick a bunch of characters every week to throw into the available options, and cycle them through.
Another helpful addition would be to make a birthday banner. They can reuse the code from the beginner Noelle banner.

Some ideas:
They could add a 'region' banner, with an epitomised path, and then rotate that with patches (say every two the region banner changes).
4*, double the amount in the shop, and everyone rotates through it
After 1 rerun, the character is added to the standard banner pool.
Add a few 5* to the shop on a rotating, price them > than worst case pull if you want.
Also, add 'event' weapons to the shop too on a rotate
I thought the chronicled wish would be a permanent thing that just changes region every patch so i didn’t mind the problems it had. Then it wasn’t in the next patch so i thought it would be every other patch for sure. Then it never came back…
I had an idea for birthday cakes player gets on their birthday giving them a special birthday wish. Birthday wish could be used to instantly get a 5 star character you have wished on and lost and you still don't have them. For example: I wish on Kokomi, lose on her and later get my birthday wish. I still don't have her, so I use the wish and get her.
It could be strong, but it would encourage people to wish on different banners, would make losing not that harsh and could lead to decreasing rerun problems a bit
Agreed. I'm brand new to Genshin as of June of this year. So I've been playing for 5 months now. I love the game ❤ but I missed out on ALL the previous characters and events so all I really have is the new Natlan characters. Which, im not complaining! They're great! But I want a chance to get some older characters too and I've no idea when they'll ever be available.
Keep mentioning it in feedback! If you don't let them know, nothing will change

I wouldn't be surprised if they have stats such as "player pulls Shenhe -> soon stops playing", "player pulls Neuvilette -> player continues playing", or around spending, etc. to determine which characters to rerun.
I think it is more that they know how many people pulled on which banners, and that Shenhe just doesn't sell. She's a niche support, so that right there limits overall interest in her. At the time of her release, it was basically, "Do you play Ayaka?" Except even if you did, you'd probably still want Kokomi and Kazuha before you want Shenhe, as those characters are also key to her team, probably more so overall, plus can be used in many other teams. And when people have limited primos, plus there are other characters vying for their attention, that 4th slot character just isn't going to sell well.
Basically, she's too niche to have wide spread appeal, and too weak to be a must have for her niche.

This is actually a really interesting metric for which if they do have, would be interesting to know abt. I know from back in 1.6 me and my friend had both recently started a patch earlier and lost our 50/50s on the zl banner but still were very positive and active. However, my friend pulled klee and just didnt enjoy the gameplay while i pulled kazuha back then cuz i didnt like child characters and have been an avid genshin player since while he's quit. Obviously this is a one off situation but Im sure there's plenty of other instances where strong characters just inherently make the game more fun for a large casual base

In many other gachas, a single banner can have multiple 5*/SSR characters, and yet still have two or more banners at the same time, allowing for not only a wider variety of characters to rerun at once (this way, there's almost always something to look forward to for everyone), but also shorter time between reruns. In genshin, this could easily translate as limited banners having multiple limited 5* each, with an epitomized path to select which one of them you want specifically (meaning that you could not only lose your 50/50 to a standard character, but also to one of the other featured limited 5*, and then get a guarantee for the one you selected)
They could do it in multiple ways as well : either keep 2 banners, and make them have let's say two or three limited 5* on both (for a total of 4 to 6 limited 5* reruns per half, or 8 to 12 per patch). Or keep only one banner, and have four, five or more limited 5* on it. The former would work better if they ever wanted to release two new 5* star in the same half, as they could split them between the two banners, but this has never happened so it's not too much of a concern imo. And of course, who the various 5* are could be determined in a few ways : pure randomness without rhyme or reason (the classic hoyo way), or with an elemental theme (for instance a hydro only banner, etc), or a regional theme (Inazuma only etc), or simply go by either how old characters are (in terms of when they first released, which would in practice turn old characters into a sort of unofficial secondary standard 5* pool) or by how long ago their last rerun was
For instance, let's just say they adopted such a system for the 5.3 version, we could have something like :
- First half : a singular banner featuring the new 5* for this half, Mavuika, and then a bunch of pyro characters like Arlecchino, Yoimiya and Klee. This line-up does of course favor the shiny new character, but it does have variety : a strong character that at least some people are sure to select over the new 5*, and a few older characters that haven't rerun in a while and might otherwise never show up again
- Second half : again, a singular banner with the shiny new 5*, Citlali, this time with a bunch of cryo characters like Wrio (finally !), Shenhe (finally !) and Ganyu (finally). Similar to the other one, this line-up heavily favors the new 5* but it does have a good assortment of reruns : a strong dps, a niche but powerful support and an old but still popular character - all of them in dire need of a rerun ASAP
This specific variation is slightly tame since it only allows 8 characters per version (when frankly we'd need even more, like at least 10 if not 12), but it does come with an interesting benefit : technically speaking, you could select one of the rerun characters, lose the 50/50 and get the new 5* on the way (for instance, selecting Arle and losing the 50/50 to Mavuika). It's unlikely because you could lose to a total of 10 characters instead of the usual 7, thus diluting the odds, but still, it would certainly happen to someone, somewhere. Although, they could easily make it so you can't get the new 5* characters on a 50/50 during their very first banner or something like that

If you do the math, 365 days a year. Banners run for around 42 days usually so that's around 8 - 9 banners. If you times that by 2 since they run 2 now its 16 - 18. So 16 - 18 5 stars can be rerun or run per year but that is still insane for them to refuse to run certain characters even if it's limited in the amount that can run.
I feel like they know what there doing with creating fomo and character scarcity.

I feel like Archons are an exception to the rerun issue because they only rerun when the next one is getting released. The amount of times I've seen Xiangling, XQ, Kuki, and Bennett is WAY too much. I swear I've seen one of those characters (or multiple in some cases) on banners like every other patch especially the pyro duo. I get they're great 4 stars but Charlotte never having a rerun and Sethos already getting one is insane to me. Not to mention there's 3 4 stars that never get a rate up. Up until recently some 4 stars were bound to specific 5 stars like Faruzan but they finally released her from Wanderer. I know you mentioned Chevruse has only been with Raiden (along with Sara) which is dumb to me because Chevruse is such a good 4 star.
They really need to update the Paimon shop because majority of the 4 stars we can acquire from there rerun kinda often (except for the 3 that can't) and add a pity system for limited banners and maybe even standard. Of course they never will but it would be really nice. During the last Raiden banner I got 2 5 stars before I got my only copy of Chevruse, that's absolutely ridiculous. One thing I've thought of is they need to make more events like Lantern Rite but for every region, that way we can guarantee a specific 4 star. Even with that the older regions have way more 4 stars compared to sumeru, fontaine and natlan, plus every Lantern Rite adds a new 4 star for Liyue. For anyone curious Monstadt has 12, Liyue has 10, Inazuma has 7, Sumeru has 6, Fontaine has 4 and Natlan will have 2 when Ororon comes out.
Triple banners could really resolve a lot of issues or even birthday banners so that way every character reruns once a year at minimum. If they do birthday banners the 4 stars could even be characters that synergize with them.
Kuki doesn't come up too often. Iirc this is her first banner she had since i started. Though benny/xiangling, yeah they need to be sent to the shadow realm
Speaking of 4 stars, still no Heizou in sight! Since 3.7! It's already about to be 5.2! If they don't rerun Heizou with Chasca I honestly don't know what to say anymore
I'm glad they released Faruzan from the basement though. I got C2 Wanderer and still didn't get enough copies of Faruzan to have her C6. Only on Nahida's rerun during 4.4 was I able to get both
Chevreuse is also a weird case because, I get that Sara is a dedicated support for Raiden, but Chevreuse?? She can be good with a lot of other units too. What if people already had Raiden and didn't have a reason to pull on the banners during Raiden's rerun? How can they guarantee to get Chevreuse?
And Charlotte still not getting a rerun is kinda crazy. Although I guess it's kinda to be expected as pretty much every Cryo character is suffering from this, 4 star or 5 star
The power trio definitely get reran too much. Yes they're useful, but by this point I feel like everyone has at least one copy if not C6 of each of the 3. It's good for new players, but they rerun TOO often. They also tend to prioritize rerunning a lot of very niche 4 stars for some reason. A lot of the recent banners I've seen throughout the entire time I've been playing for have honestly been pretty terrible. Those 4 stars are useless even for new players, both as supports and as DPS. Many new players lack good DPS characters, and Gaming and Heizou are incredibly strong 4 stars to have. Not everyone will be able to win their 50/50 or pull on a banner with DPS characters, so why not give them something good? It's already a miracle that we have the standard 5 star selector, so I guess there's that. But still, why gatekeep strong 4 stars or good supports OTHER than the national...
Triple banners dont resolve any issues really. Its the same as when we had single banners and said double banners will resolve the issue. It just delays it a bit but doesn't actually fix anything because of the rate of new 5strs being released. Birthday banners or an actually common chronicled wish banner (Like every alternate patch or somt) would help a lot more in alleviating the problems related to 5strs at least
Personally I think it’s time to have 3 banners first half, 2 banners on second half. The cast is large enough now

I wouldn't be surprised if her weapon gained bonus damage if the enemy was effected by cryo, and further buffed if frozen.

Oh! I love the idea of a personal favorite character special banner. I think, though, the best place for it would be after the Liyue Archon Quest. That way you have enough time to get familiar with most of the game's characters in lore, play a few trials, see other units in co-op, etc. Then a new player is less likely to use their personal bonus banner immediately and regret their choice a week later.
If they throw they rules they put down out the window, and run it every other patch, chronicled wish is the answer, just get the wierd eligibility restrictions out of here and run 5+ units every other patch
They need to split the Archons into a 3rd banner where the Archon changes every month and let the limited 5 star be for the other 5 star options
As if waiting 500 days for Heizou to show up in an event was bad, he also took 500 days to get a 3rd rerun and he's going to be the last Anemo Character to be added to TCG. Being a Heizou Enjoyer is rough.

I have played for 1 year on and off and never pulled whatever the first banner that usually has the new characters for natlan or fontaine. As a f2p player Im either saving for waiting for A-S tier characters reruns. I know its about money but it would be so fun to be playing some of the new characters. But i think the account is now in a good enough place i am pulling for chasca even tho i dont really like her too much i want to get some of these cool new mechanic characters and how it changes genshin.
Venti is literally first 5 star that everyone see when they start play this game so not to rerun him at all for more then a year is really bad for new players that started playing this game after his last rerun in October 2023 and want to get him...
He will rerun for sure in 5.x because he is an archon and they rerun every archons once per years.
@@Camelia437 I know but if he will be in second half of 5.5 that will be sometime in end of April next year, so that will be like 18 months since his last rerun ?, it is just too much, maybe it was not that much of issue in previous years when he was in 4.1 and before that in 3.1... but now it is just too long, with more and more archons in the game there will be always some of them without rerun for very long time if they do not change it

I started playing late 4.3 because I wanted Wriothesley. I didnt really know how gacha games worked, and had googled multiple times if Wriothesley would 'be obtainable' again. I found out about reruns, constellations, upcoming characters pretty early on, with help of friends that played. I remember searching when Wriothesley would rerun, seeing people make videos announcing his return the next version, the version after that, etc. I started looking at leaks from there on, desperate at this point. AND I SEE THAT KAZUHA IS GETTING A RERUN 3 PATCHES AFTER HIS LAST? I SEE THAT LYNEY, WHO COMPARED TO WRIO, HAS A MUCH SMALLER FANBASE AND IS GETTING HIS SECOND RERUN? It has been 10 months since I started playing Genshin Impact, it has almost been a year. It is a fun game, my favorite game, but I still remember the reason WHY I started playing. Why I am STILL playing. 14 months is too long, a year is too long, man just give me my damn character.
The re-run of Cryo characters may be in the second half of Natlan, i.e., around 5.4, in preparation for the Cryo nation.
I would assume so, but it's still such a weird move. They didn't gatekeep Pyro units before Natlan, some of the earliest released units in Fontaine were Pyro, like Lyney. And Hu Tao reran in 4.1. I guess maybe that's because Pyro is self-sufficient enough compared to Cryo, but still... Not even giving Wriothesley his first rerun, while simultaneously giving Chiori hers is diabolical. She was released after him in 4.5, and she's not even from Fontaine. What's worse is that she's a Geo unit, the very element that was deemed to be so bad that it was considered dead
Heck, Citlali has a Cryo vision. She's definitely going to be playable, and she's from Natlan. She's still most likely going to be released before all of those Cryo units even get a chance to rerun, at least I presume that's the case. It's so weird

Surprisingly, as a player who started during Eula’s chronicled wish, I managed to C1 Heizou last month on the standard banner and Raiden’s most recent rerun.
I believe the 5-star characters being introduced in an update should increase chance of being pulled at the end of the story content, only during that update. The standard banner should have a 4-star rotation. Another option is to have completion of the 4-star hangout stories provide the character or constellation if the character is already owned.
Now, if only there was a better way to earn Fragile Resin...
I was going to spend to pull Wriothesly c6 on his rerun, which should have come long ago. My response to their stupid banner schedule is to never pull until I get Wriothesly. Now I have saved enough for c6 without spending. Guess they don’t want my money, so be it.
As a new player I did not have the wishes for both Wrio and Neuv, so I went Neuv, thinking Oh Wrio will be back soon, as indicated from friends. :( Then I did the story and I fell in love with him and his style. Been waiting for his rerun banner with every update :( Had his materials pre farmed since the patch after his banner. But I shall keep waiting.
Ontop of that Heizo was my first 4star I pulled on a banner, been also waiting for his consts forever too

I am a fan of once a year running a banner for every character of a region. The maximum amount of time you have to wait is one year for any specific character. The 4* will be hard to get.
I’m praying that Mavuika revolutionises melt and Citlali fixes freeze so that’s why they’re holding back with cryo reruns.

I'm probably being cynical, but I wonder if the long droughts between character banners encourage players to save their primogems, and if players who save their primogems are more likely to keep playing while waiting for their favourite character. If you have like 100k primos saved up for Wriothesley, what are you going to do, stop playing and never get him? And Hoyo doesn't care if you spend your primos or not, they only care if you buy them (and/or welkins and BPs). It also builds FOMO for the rest of us: Better get Citlali on lauch because there's no telling when she's coming back, right? I'm not saying that this is all by design, just that I don't think Hoyo is that hard pressed to fix this problem.
Well given the poor sales of Eula/ Klee on their rerun on the Summer before last, they have little reason to care
As a f2p who saved for wrio when he was leaked and has saved up for his next rerun.... Yeah you right. Ive been playing everyday more addictively waiting for reruns than just when i was playing the game casually. And having this new banner announcement, instead of sighing and going offline for the next month im planning routes to get as many achievements and sidequests done as possible to save up more primos.

Shenhe got me into the game. I started 2023 in March on her last rerun banner and got her. She has yet to rerun...
As they announced the first chronicled wish banner I thought they would have one every patch or maybe every second patch. But it seems we even have to wait for a chronicled wish banner maybe one full year. That clearly isn't the solution we were hoping for.
