Thanks very much for this video. I was just trying the flash on my 90d and had the same cover as you. VERY useful info. I would have taken mine back to the shop if I hadn't seen this.
is there a way to modify this? I can't seem to find a guide on modifying the pin in the hotshoe so that it doesn't deactivate the internal flash when I insert something in there! Canon G10, same problem when using hotshoe thumb grip 😢
I found a fix, use a surgery knife to cut off the plastic pin thats on the inner side of the hotshoe! That way, whatever you insert into the hotshoe wont cause the camera to deactivate the internal flash. I don't know what would happen if I still decide to use an external flash in my G10, but I doubt I would use an external flash on it so yeah 😂
Have you tried it at lower light? I had a t4i that needed less light and the hot foot would turn off the int flash whenever I put something on/in it, even a dust cover.
Greetings from UK Terry.Glad you fixed it.How is the Weather where you are? Freezing here. It's good to see you again your vids are so informative .Keep Safe.M
Not sure exactly what you are asking , But on mine as i show in the video , it was the piece that i had put in the shoe . So if something was put in the shoe remove it . Also the flash cover on a 90d is not automatic pop up , you have to hit the button to pop it up manually
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I had the same problem (and the same bubble level!) and thought the flash was broken. Good to go now.
Yea at first i thought my camera was broke , and kinda accidently figured it out
