It's fascinating to me how people don't appreciate insightful lessons. Whether they are five minutes, 15 minutes, or however long, who cares. These are free lessons offered by a fantastic teacher. It's not like you have to pay to watch them. Every week, there is a lesson done in low key by a musician not trying to sell you something, but instead teach and share his knowledge. We should all appreciate all the teachers on RUclips like this. Just watch and enjoy. I certainly appreciate it, Andre.

Hi Chris, it doesn’t get me down. All I can do is make these and some of them, eventually, find their audience when the time is right. I will say though, short attention span coupled with the illusion of possible instant results is not a good combination. Some things really can’t be rushed. Andre

    Hi Andre.
My main goal is to practice correctly so im satisfied when playing and so i believe i improve somehow, after.
There are many facets i work on: Tone, memory of phrases my own and others, speed, accuracy, hand coordination in picking and fretting.
So i memorize tabs, play along with songs, and work at picking accuracy with a metronome. If i get overloaded in memory or arent creative then metronome work!
Notes and chords represent feelings. When playing i seek to understand how notes by themselves feel and how they interact with other notes.
At 10:36, that is like light talk at work from nurses i work with who often talk to hear themselves, it also is like country music which uses major chords with subtle shifts so as to not offend peoples drinking mood. It has its place in expression as most dont convey deep thoughts when talking. Most talking isnt like f-g#(emaj)-a minor-b diminished. So your phrase is like saying im happy im bouncing mindlessly at work(some prefer that to heavy thoughts which require work)
Lastly i view music as exercise. Its best not to seek an endpoint. Instead focus on being satisfied at what you are doing while playing. The key is to develop tools so that happens, such as i mentioned above.
Everything that involves skill is often boring in training, anything. For example, to me bar rowing 245 lbs for ten at the end of a trainig session is boring as i could be doing 375 for 4 which to me is exciting. But work is work and reps count. Like i mentioned, if i cant concentrate i focus on my physical skill with a metronome, and some players mimic my thoughts to practice for speed and accuracy say Joe Stump, whereas In control by Vinnie Moore is simply to hard to remember as my thinking and muscles likely arent like vinnies! The main thing is to do something, enjoy the practice and make sure the practice is facilitating improvement, be it memory, accuracy, speed or ideas.
If players listen to when they get bored and understand that as focus to do something else that is helpful the key is how and why to manage boredom. Steve Vai said he practiced for hours as he liked the discipline. The key is to understand how to view "excitement", many in music view drugs and alcohol as "excitement" when instead they need patience. Jens Johansson once said music is insanity you are trying to make a living off air vibrations with a permanent potential layoff affecting your income. So patience with oneself and mental focus can help a player progress and as you said its a players personal journey and yet chances are if you like what you play chances are others will too!

From that thumbnail, I was hoping for a video on how to start afresh with learning the guitar! I feel completely lost these day.. I’ve watched far too many “how to play/get better at guitar” and I don’t know where I’m headed 😢

I was trying to improvise something before watching this video and everything sounded... poor. After watching it, some interesting things came up. It must have something to do with it 😅
