I was a patient in Gartloch. I was sectioned because I kept saying Partick thistle would win the league. Only joking. But the staff were very dedicated and helped me cope with my situation. I enjoy your channel a lot. Wish I could come back to Glasgow and have a wee drive round with you. You should start a business as a tour guide driving people round. Anyway, it’s a good video. Thanks for taking the time to do these.

So many changes. I left in '83 when I was 15. Went to The Lenny where the video started. Griers and the baths still there. Magic.

Gartloch Hospital, remember being dropped off their in 1987 when I was a student nurse on psychiatric placement from the GRI. Can't say I would have ever wanted to go back after that. The hospital was an imposing building but I couldn't say I was impressed by the care of the patients, particularly in the acute psychiatry area. More like a prison managed by warders. Looks like a small town has sprung up around it though I wouldn't want to live there considering the history of the place. Thanks Paul.

I was a patient there for a week in 1984. I had myself discharged after just a week. My ward (Acute Ward) can be seen straight ahead at 23:00. It was old fashioned: nurses in guard like uniforms, patients in gowns or pyjamas. Like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Thanks for another trip down memory lane. Much appreciated. I couldn't believe where you started. I started drinking at the Casbah when I was still at the Lennie. Used to go over at dinner time. They weren't too particular as regards your age. Years later I remember a Scottish TV reporter describing the Casbah as "more like a derelict electricity sub-generating station than a local pub". But I liked it. The shops next to the Casbah used to have flats above them. I had a Council bed-sit there for a couple of years, the first place of my own. The school facing it has completely disappeared. Where you went along Provanhall was where I had a paper round in the mid-60's. I worked for the Cleannie for a short time in Easterhouse before transferring to Bell Street. I am pretty sure the local depot was on Wardie Road. Almost every street name carried memories for me.

I enjoyed cruising around with you on that journey Paul. Your narration is relaxed and informative.
I was in the British Army in the early 70's. I had a pal from Easterhouse, he told me if I ever come up to see him, I was to take a taxi and if he wasn't at home to take the same taxi and get off the scheme. He said I would be a target with my English accent.
To preserve my good looks I never did visit Easterhouse, however, most of my working life I was a lorry driver and had many nights in Paisley and Renfrew.
Never had any bother in Scotland, great pubs and friendly people.
Bless you, keep up the good work.

Thankyou pal for your kind words ,,, personally looking back how the media played a roll in giving easterhouse a bad name in the past to me i think it was blown out of control probably with journalists not even lived in the glasgow schemes yet they know all about a place

I mind when I was in primary school I could see the turrets of the hospital in the distance, I used to think it was a Castle (I was 6 😂).
Saint Thenogs primary I was at, it was scenic, countryside and a Castle I always thought.
You’re right, what sicko would want to live in that place, i wouldn’t, it looks like yuppie territory now.
