Hunger games.. lol They think that climbing that center post it the way to go... that keeps them from getting the idea to just jump to the hole opening.. They take what they think is the sure easy way to the food but it is actually the way to not getting to it. lol. I like it.

Thanks! It actually does work. I've been using this feeder for a couple years, and no mice issues at all.

      @@revolutionarychicken6251 what about rats???

@@fatboy9700 Good point. I have not tested it with rats, so I can't guarantee that rats couldn't get in. That's why I say mouse-proof and not rodent-proof--I don't want to make claims that I can't back up or I haven't tested.

I trapped some wild mice once and tossed them in a barrel till I had time to dispatch them. At the end of the work day all were gone, jumped out of that barrel quite easily, 33" tall, smooth painted interior standard 55 gallon drum, nothing for them to stand on . The idea that wild mice can't jump up into these silly contraptions is laughable. Well fed white pet mice used to living in a cage probably won't be a problem.

I've sold over a thousand of these since 2019...I certainly would offer a refund for anyone who has mice getting into the feed.

    I’m
About to buy one or two of these but what about my tiny Bantams? I know they won’t be about to reach in there?
What do you have it one exactly?

    • @revolutionarychicken6251

I have it on an 8" square cinder block. You can put it on a shorter base so that your bantams can reach in. However, just know that I tested it for mice on an 8" base. I know that if it had no base, mice would be able to get in. I don't know how mouseproof it is with shorter bases.

Yeah, white lab mice... wild mice can jump one to to feet.

So...I did want to get wild mice for the test. I had some live traps but wasn't able to catch any. But the white mice can jump very high--probably just as high as the wild mice. In fact, I think I mentioned in the video that two of the mice escaped--they literally jumped out of the large totes container I was using.

Another point is that I had a HUGE problem with mice before using this feeder. After I used this feeder, I had no more issue with mice eating my chicken feed.

Big rats would easily jump up and get into a hole

The rats🐀 would get in. Unless you put the wire mesh with the squares to stop them.

True. That's why I don't say that it's rodent proof.

BTW, I will be selling feeder port covers as well, so if you have a problem with rats, you can cover them at night.
