    Thank you so much for this video!!! It was the easiest one I found! I had even started staking out the squirrels as they would come down to the chicken coop during the day, but could get the rats at night. This way is perfect for me!!!! I’ve got 1 done and will complete another next week! I put my cap on before filling it!! My biggest issue is I’m 5’1” and the top of my feeder is around 5’8”. Guess I’ll cut them down eventually. 😅 This works great!! The guy at the hardware store thought I was crazy.

      Don't cut them! Just get a small step stool or something like that because it'll hold more with it being taller and you don't need to change out the feeder so much.

    Great idea, I am going to make one this afternoon. I have only had my chickens for 36 hours and I already do not like the open dish feeder I have. Cheers from sunny South Australia.

    Great feeder but tell us how it worked out in the end. I had rats chew right through very dense hard plastic in my shed when I stored my feed in there 😡 Nowadays I have steel barrels.
    Also do you have to clean them occasionally? How do you do it? I guess I’m just concerned about the humidity here down under which can cause mould. Blessings 🦘

    You could have made covers for your 1st feeder brother PVC pipe cut nearly in half long ways and they will slip over the feeder pvc

    If you have to put the lids on every single night, what is the difference or point of having an automatic feeder that you only have to fill up once in a while? You still have to be there to cap and uncap.

    • @nessuno1984
      @nessuno1984 Год назад

      Because he doesn't have to carry the feed to somewhere else to hide it from the vermin every night. Instead it's just a quick capping. You should check on your chickens every morning and night anyway to make sure none are sick or injured.

      I love them!! I like the fact that I can fill the tubes up on the weekend and it will last all week I just make sure I put the caps On at night so excessive rodents don't come in, I'm sure during the day they might still come out and feed but with it secure at night I think it's a lot better!! And the sealed tubes really help keep the weather out

    This is not going to be rodent proof. The issue is the chicken rake the feed out with their beak and spread it on the ground.
