There’s a saying “It’s the archer not the arrow.” For tennis, I like “It’s the archer not the bow.” Either way, beginners love to blame their improvements in tennis on their specific bows. Definitely find a racquet that feels good and doesn’t hurt your arm but playing a lot of tennis = improvement regardless of the racquet.
@@TennCom If the model is too long there is an easy way to make the model smaller in the handle provided the model is not one with the inserts for the handle all the way down the grip or a model that has a deep trap door that would be hard to fit in if you cut the mode. Could do what one of the Wiliams Sisters did move and grip up a hair on the model if a bigger player like those she did on a 27.5 inch model each one used then use a Sharpie/similar marker in black or silver
Simon has done a great review of his racquet journey with the Solinco, it's also a welcome reprieve from listening to Becket gush about his Pure Aero Rafa customized with a snakeskin grip and uranium at 3 and 9. Simon is tall and likely doesn't need the extra long frame but they can be really beneficial for us midgets on serve, not that I hit the serve bigger but I find my percentage of serves in goes up with longer frames. I have also experienced the sort of noodle/flex with longer frames, especially my old yonex DR 98+. Lastly, surprised he found it easier to volley with, the extra length can mean every extra millimeter of angle at your wrist is amplified and it can be very easy to hit volleys wide.
I used a size 3 and as I started hitting harder I was subconsciously using a firmer grip . I now use a size 4 grip with 2 over grips which is probably around a size 5. I’ve never had such effortless power in my life. Big time game changer. I don’t have monster hands either (5’11”). I can’t do those little cheap slices anymore but the trade off is so worth it
There is a lot to be said about large grip sizes! I don't have the strongest hands. But years ago, I used to use 4 3/4" and loved it - the racquet was really, really stable.
@@TennCom Too big or too small is an issue players have, this is why I need a grip 2 or 4 &1/4 grip is how small my hands are. I can use down to a grip 0 or 4 inch grip but I save my smaller grip versions of newer version of old model for when my arm is tired becuse I can use a very odd grip on the smaller grip. I may find to go up on 4 inch version by adding more of what I use for an overgrip.
Went the same way you did switching from Pure Drive grip 3 to Radical Pro grip 4. Same thoughts, except PD's dampening tech actually works - no pain experienced
Good call on the wrist/grip thing. After a couple years' break from tennis some years back, I started playing and was like "this old grip is fine," and within an hour my wrist hurt like it never had before. Had to take weeks off. I was gripping too tight because the old grip was so slippery. If your grip is too small you have to grip more and the same thing can happen. I don't know how Nadal does it.
Nadal Was probably used to having a smaller grip as a Junior/lower end pro when starting out on the ATP using same model he had as a Junior. He might also use the same model with 2 base grips on it before the main grip.
So is there just an inherent problem with the quality control on foam-filled rackets? A swingweight of 326 sounds quite low for the XTD version. My standard-length Whiteout came in overspec at 340, and I remember another channel had a T-Fight 305 with a swingweight over 350. I was considering getting a Whiteout 18x20 XTD, but I'm concerned about getting a below-average swingweight. I'd rather rackets come in a little overspec, but I'm wondering how common it is for foam-filled rackets to come in with less weight in the head.
Do you mean grip size 6 or actually 6 inches? I also got the wrong grip size (2) and need 3 to 4 overgrips, so next time I'll probably get a size 3 and two overgrips, or size 4 and one overgrip
I can't remember specifics for the TF-X1, but from what I remember I found it to be more unique but harder to use compared to my Whiteout. I think the Whiteout of this gen is much more forgiving.
ok, I stand corrected… not his case, but I see tennis RUclips full of self proclaimed 4.5s that have no idea of the amount of junk balls you need to put back in (and with pace) to win one single 3.5 match.
Whatever you have earned playing sanctioned matches, it is not about how pretty or ugly you hit the ball, and that is my point. I don’t mean to be trolling no one, I’m sure he’ll beat my ass, BUT you don’t rate yourself up because, with hard work, you can make ‘better looking’ shots now. BTW He’ll beat my only coz I have same injury that ended Rafa’s career, mine is almost 3yo too.
Beckett protesting his suspension with these titles
Simon’s improvement is 100% racquet and nothing to do with him playing me every single day (and losing)
😳

Bro the outro 😂
I have a 6'6" nephew for whom I built up a 4 5/8" grip to 5 1/2", and yes, it completely eliminated his tennis elbow.

next switch: short to long socks
lmao
Good that you solve the wrist problem

I can't wait for a 5.0 racquet upgrade
I'm gonna need cranial extensions to fit my ego at that point

lol I just ordered the 28” 18x20 whiteout because, go big or go home 😂 I like trying extreme racquets
Great video, it's hard for me to find a racket since I have a one-handed backhand. Still trying after years...
Simon, use your left arm to reach out and create space from the ball on your forehand. You’re hitting forehands like a T-rex but nice consistency.
Where is this court? The scenery is fantastic!
Hold on didn't you switch to the Corvette racquet in the summer?
Apparently it leaves too many rubber marks on the court so I had to switch

How does this compare to the Tecnifibre TF-X1 300 that I have? I may give this one a try..

I wonder what is next for Simon! Arctic Camo maybe.
wait till you see the one handers he hit with that thing hahaha
I have faith it will rival Fed's
Bro try to play with Prince ripstick 300g, thats sick🔥🔥🔥
Wish you'll make a review of this racket
Don't worry I'm overruling Beckett and finding one to review. Just having some trouble getting my hands on it atm
I think the improvement came from you not wearing those wacky pants :P

1) Couldn’t see any deep flaws unless your planning on turning pro. 2) Hack saws are cheap. (Reversible. Just two part epoxy the stump back on).
I'm personally offended by this title and will now submit my purchase order of two fresh frames.
Consumerism is the tennis enthusiasts highest purpose
I wonder if your problem is the poly strings!!! At 6, 4 you probably need a 4/ 5/8
Simon, what the h is next with you??!!

You need to improve your feet’s mobility. Forget about what racquet you’re going to use. Moving effectively is the number 1 factor for success.
