As an american who lives in the south I can say I never thought of making a gun lance but now I want to.
Kind of ironic considering the Japanese are the ones who keep combining guns with weapons (RWBY aside) even Zyuranger, which predates FFVIII by nearly half a decade had both the bladeblaster sidearms and the mammoth axe.

Diving Wyvern would like a word.
Still doesn’t justify the 33% reduction to buff duration. Glaive wasn’t even OP in the other games, and was always more of a fun, but inefficient way of hunting.
As a counterpoint, diving wyvern isn't a move you can use till the literal endgame.
However, I am an insect glaive main and I gotta say, it is criminally underrated and honestly one of the easier weapons. The buff duration is enough imo, just fish for the red buff, do 3 air attacks, land, get another buff, repeat. Easy.
Also, the air attacks get stronger the more you do before landing so it's air attacks are actually really good. On top of it having an easy lag cancel (literally just the recall kinsect non-silkbind move), it's ground attacks are even better when they were before.
Also it's got some serious cutting power with just the base attacks, and the kinsect can knock out enemies fairly consistently if you use an impact one. insect glaive can do literally everything.
So to everyone saying insect glaive is bad in rise: have you used it in more than one hunt? It makes short work of anything with like 2 hunts of practice
@@KC-bg1th the reduction is child's play, if you even learn how to play insect glaive properly it really isn't a problem because even in World you were constantly grabbing your buffs even though they were filled anyway. There's also the fact that despite world having the best implementation of insect glaive this version is just straight up better (although I would like aerial to clutch claw combos back). Not only are aerial attacks finally viable and safer in rise, but there's also the fact that the new moves for it drastically improves its fluidity in battle. Insect glaive is one of the easier and safer weapons in monster hunter and with it given even more of it, you would be stupid to not even learn how to use its basics. Sure they don't do as much damage as a gun Lance or a great sword bit you literally not deny the fact that this thing keeps you alive, buffed, and debuffs the enemy constantly
The insect Glaive actually became kind of OP. There is a move that can do almost as much damage as a great sword true strong charge and you the DPS is sooooo much higher than world
Only when it hit the stupidly small head of a monster. The damage is somewhat doubled.
Just do Dragon Age so I can start asking for Oblivion again.

tbh I hated the rampage sieges at first and only did them when the "story" forced me to, but after understanding how that counter gong thingy works, they became a lot more fun.
Insect glaive gets nothing? This is the best incarnation of the weapon yet! Did the writer only play the demo?
Seriously, even with diving wyvern being an endgame move only, insect glaive is very strong in rise.
It's air mobility is even greater than it was before because of ZL+X, it's air attacks get stronger the more you do before landing (and significantly stronger at that), and it's already-great ground moves got a free setup-less lag cancel with ZR+A.
Anyone who actually thinks the glaive is bad I'm pretty sure hasn't used it more than twice. The first and second hunts with it I thought "What's so good about this weapon?" But midway through my 3rd hunt it randomly clicked and I saw the light, and it is now my favorite weapon in the game by miles.

Well, I felt the same way about Rampages - but you aren't actually 'killing' those monsters - they are fleeing from battle -you only kill the last one. I still think it's under baked and note great - but it's better with others.

Monster Hunter is actually pretty chill with gatekeeping, one of the least toxic communities that exists.
Considering monster hunter used to be heavily "git gud scrub" I'm so happy to see the community opening up.
I run rampage hunting horn in multihunts for that reason. Hard to cart when your allies can heal you by beating monster face.
The top guys in the session now are like, get gud or i will have to hunting horn this quest😂

Clip is 3 secs long and barely shows the monster, its completly out of context so if you dont mention it people would prob not notice. It's been 2 weeks, if people dont want spoilers they shouldnt watch videos online 2 weeks after release

This is my first Monster Hunter game and I understood them pretty easily, to the point of just saying 'This is the only thing I get, I'll main this'.

Agreed, it really makes you feel more of a sense of accomplishment when you make your set
RNG can still be there. I had to take down 15 Mitsuzunes for an orb...on the bright side it's a fun game.

Sure, I've been repeatedly knocked off ballistae and cannons and machine gun turrets, but I've figured out the best set ups for each of the Rampage maps and usually have a lot of fun just letting myself relax, but keeping an eye on in-game notifications so I can be ready to focus. It's usually pretty fun, and I don't let the fact that monsters can consistently knock you off ruin the whole thing for me, because there are ways around it, and those happen just as, if not more consistently than me getting knocked away. Sometimes just a matter of luck, and my luck hasn't been absolutely atrocious.

I lost it at "American Lance".
The rampage mode is a bit hectic and confusing at first, no doubt. It's not perfect, but I think it gets better as you play it more. Also, you're only repelling hordes of monsters, not slaying them, so that mitigates the cheapening of the main hunts you mention.
