Monster Hunter Online. God, I remember trying to play that game. The players hated you for speaking English/not being from China. It extended to the moderators, too, who banned you because "you are not meant to be there". Only one guy I know didn't get caught and he basically just kept his head down.
@@Lunk42 It was my exposure to just how xenophobic the Chinese are when it comes to gaming. Never mind the irony of them using VPNs to play FIFA and the like but being hypocrites regarding YOU being able to play their games.
As an native Chinese speaker it's so freaking hilarious hearing those ridiculous trailer sell lines cuz I can 99% guess whats the original lines they were translated from
Been wishing someone cared enough to get a private server up for this for a while, didn't get to experience it back in the day and would love to try out something goofy like this.
😂 holy shit they straight up said “hmmm, let’s just take all the successful game mechanics from the last 15 years, rip em off and slap em into monster Hunter, boom we got a winner!”
An interesting bit about the weapons, The ones in this game that are not in monster hunter might be the unused types that they somehow got their hands on. The maker of the original game said that they had a few other weapon types they ended up scrapping in testing cause they just did not work out right and that they planned on having magic in the game but scrapped that to make it feel more grounded and real.
Now the CHAIN HAMMER actually feels like something that could maybe be introduced into Monster Hunter (Maybe different mechanics so Hammer never becomes obsolete but is instead still the Stun King while Chain Hammer could, perhaps DEBUFF the monster instead? Have the weapons be more likely to inflict blights?)
I saw this one as a teen like 8 years ago when i was searching for mh fix anywhere i could. I thought that it looked like a chinese bootleg and returned to lamenting lack of frontiers in the west. Thanks for awakening memories.
It sucks that there are devs in China making completely original games, but all we see from China here in the west are rip off versions of already popular games. Because of their nonexistent copyright laws, why even be creative? Even Genshin Impact, a game that had an $100 million dollar budget, straight ripped off so many BOTW features/aesthetics when the strength of that game comes from its storylines and complex characters. People called it a cheap clone at launch, but it ended up paying off for them as free advertising as the game is positively received now. It seems like the safe option for chinese devs is to rip the hell out of the most popular games at launch, and then make the game you really want.
it was shutdown by Capcom wen it released in the US. the both publishers Beeboomonline [China] and Global Times Gaming[US] were both given a cease and desist order and Global Times was sued for1.6 million USD and was settle for 250Kish USD bankrupting the company. as for Beeboomoline it shut it's doors vary shortly after the US release. as for the game Developer i do not know what happend to Joychina only thing i heard was wen Beeboomonline shut it's doors all studios that where liked to the publisher just disappeared most likely to avoid a lawsuit and just ran with whatever money they made. that's all i know about the companies to Hunter Blade.
I've low-key wished MH had at least one "magic" weapon since a little after I started playing, especially after reading the artbook notes. IG finally made it in but still no magic staff and talismans. Of course given the limited lore behind magic in MH it might be hard to integrate into the setting (since contrary to the insistence of a lot of fans who will openly and flagrantly deny reality in order to discourage Souls fans from getting into Monster Hunter, the series has a lot of lore and generally tried to make gameplay in some way consistent with that lore). Since only elder dragons have actual magic, it would have to either be a weapon class that was completely unavailable until at least the end of low rank (when the first ED encounter usually occurs), have extremely limited early crafting options and only be dragon element (which certainly seems like it would be a sort of "ultimate" element but of course apart from the raths and a few others it's really only good for hunting EDs anyway) since the only way dragon magic enters the ecosystem as a whole is via dracophage bugs and dragonfell berries (and the things that consume them), or just be "magic" in big fat scare quotes and actually be like a flamethrower or something that uses monster elemental sacs to spew elemental beams and clouds, which I feel like pulls away a lot of the mystique of some kind of shaman carrying a crook and talismans.
@@sekiro_the_one-armed_wolf I'm gonna guess that your first exposure to MH was after World came out so most MH fans you spoke to were also new ones. It used to be the prevailing sentiment in the English-speaking community for the game, that Souls fans were somehow ruining the games by coming to the series and comparing it incessantly to Dark Souls, and despite the latter's combat system literally being derived from MH and despite MH having intricate lore, they would go as far as denying that there was any similarity in the gameplay of the two series or that MH had any lore beyond "there is a monster, you gotta go kill it." I always thought they were crazy, but seeing the way the last 3 major titles as well as the upcoming one have pandered to anyone and everyone except fans of any game before Generations, I'm starting to think they had a point about "outsiders" somehow "ruining the series" even if their assertions about the game were factually false.
I feel like dauntless actually did a pretty good job at not being a MH clone. It feels like a somewhat well polished more casual version, but still has some original competitive elements and ideas like omnicells and weapon specials, and a weekly speedrunning contest. I love both franchises.
Honestly Chain hammer sounds like a good consepte for a weapon, a heavy hitting weapon with ranger capabilites and a mechanic similar to the clutch claw/puppet spider but less op, I will be down for that.
@@MarieTheLegend Im fully aware of that, I mained it when I played frontier, but I said a chain hammer not a magnetic arc blade with a baseball hammer like movement, equipped with nuclear bomb.

Ay bruh why you gotta call Dauntless a clone like that 0:12. I think it was a bit of a ripoff at the start but their have been almost three years of updates and I think it is its own game now.
A year late but I think he means just the concept, though the loop of dauntless is a little different, your still fighting big monsters, learning there patterns, and killing them more than once for their cool looking gear. Dauntless is just a toned down monster hunter with more fantastical creatures.
I played a bit of Hunter Blade and I had a pretty good time with it. I used the wand which was a weird change but it was a decent time for when I played it. This video was fun though because I briefly thought I had imagined this game
I want to clarify that Dauntless and Wild Hearts ARE NOT Monster Hunter clones or knockoffs. inspired? definitely. but both have very different gameplay and styles Wild Hearts unfortunately died because of these accusations, but it's a really good game
I don't even know anything about Monster Hunter, but I grew up in a way on this era's type of mmos where I know if I was a fan when this was out I'd have been all over it. Back in 2012 I feel you'd be shocked to see something fulfilling its' purpose so well. I've got to say, games you've made relationships with fading to time is a pretty tough deal. They're lonely memories. Makes me jealous you have a way to vocalize it. I'm in no way ready for the e-shops closing in March.....
this somehow feels like someone who really like MonHun and wanted an MMO version of it but didn't have enough creativity to make an entirely new thing so they just CTRL C V'd and then added any new ideas they could and pushed it, I think this is because from the sounds it was only cosmetics in the shop which makes me think the creator wasn't 100% greed, just like, 70% at most
man i remember playing a lot of this game with my friend. it was the only way for us to play a monster hunter game together. aside from managing to play Frontier or use xlink kai to play online on the PSP. so yeah before 4U playing mh with your friend online was a pain in the ass. xlink kai, ad hoc party, cracking frontier on pc or xbox, nobody had a wii U to play online so we where stuck on the 3ds version of 3G and local multiplayer etc. so even if this game was a pure knockoff, it manage to fill a void for us european at that time. its also why dauntless was so hype at that time. plus you had more RPG element than MH. you had a competence/skill tree system where you could spent point to unlock new move. its a long time so i barely remember but i'm sure that i mess aroud in the dual sword skill tree and unlocked some new demon mode move.
I would maybe like a uh... porcupine monster. Also I know that Rajang covers the bases of Boarlike monster, but a giant bullfango is neat. I saw a plant monster so that's cool. Most of these ideas for monsters are nice or cute. Although monster hunter has monsters that cover these bases in some way, but that plant monster would be fun to see. Would be very interesting to see a defensive, somewhat limited movement wyvern that requires you to think a bit smart with dodging, just like with those vines in the clip.
I do find it funny that so many monsters look.. Well, weird and unique (ignore that they're ripoffs for a moment) but then you get to the small monsters and herbivores and it's just straight up regular dinosaurs, mammoths and etc that look like they came from a ps2 Turok game.
17:05 this footage hit home for me for some reason, lol The flying fading text, the dude stopping a hunt to shit on the invader via in-game chat. Peak 2012 mmo RUclips video...
That plant monster has got me wanting an official Monster Hunter x Little Shop of Horrors crossover. Bring on the Audrey 2 and ultimate version "Hangry Audrey 2". Capcom, FEED MEEEEEEE!!
Basilisk and the lava one might be based on Pariapuria, Sand Ray is just Tartaronis but smaller and faster, while Corpse Flower uses combinations of various Frontier monster traits. Desert Sand King is just Raviente but tiny and worse, then Lacerator Beast is pretty much Voljang without fire from the looks of it. The ones you couldn't find also share a lot of similarities with MH monsters.
All right ngl, as much as I hate Invaders in souls games, the thought of someone being able to invade you during a Monster hunt sounds kinda fun in theory.
To be fair, one thing I've always found to be lacking in monster hunter games is the fact I can't start violent wrestling in savage arena against my friends. Maybe they're onto something here!
Hunter Blade is my entry to MonHun. It was a bold, as is odd, spinoff that Capcom put out. For all its faults and experimentations, this game holds on tight to this day still.
Dang I remember playing this game maybe like 10-12 years ago during middle school and grinded to reach the maximum power level available back then. NGL the game was actually fun and challenging and it being the first monster hunter clone on PC was just too damn attracting as a monster hunter fan since freedom unite, and my copyright awareness wasn't good. It was a rather interesting MMO style monster hunter with the goods and bads of MMO, and trust me MMO types of game were rare back then, so it was the first of its kinds to some extents. I honestly think this game was more fun than Tencent's MHOnline because MHO was just a worse and restricted MMO. If Capcom ever make an official MODERN MH MMO (that's not region locked) I'm definitely playing, even a rebuilt MHF I'll gladly take.
I love that the majority of going back in time in the Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter adjacent series' is all crunchy, compressed old internet video quality
That Plant monster is just Tropicallo from the Mana series but I don't think theirs a 3D one until Trials of Mana remake that came out like 2 years ago. Very interesting.

You even had a player killing score. If it got too high it would announce your monster hunts to everyone playing the game. any time I started a hunt I would have a stream of angry players trying to get their revenge. it really was a pvp players wet dream game.
That's actually awesome
@@flyann2 it really was because if you invaded someone and killed them 3 times, BOOM hunt failed
Holy shit I thought I was the only one that knew about this. I remember playing this when it launched because I wanted more of a MH fix since Frontier was out of reach at the time.
Wake up Babe! Flyann just uploaded another Monster Hunter video!
It's kinda sad that you cant play this anymore because not only it looks hilarious but no one would be able to actually release such a bizarre rip off with this kind of quality in this day and age
Wow, this game is insane. On one hand, there's an insane amount of just stolen stuff in this.
On the other, there are some insanely cool stuff in here. Like: The Sand Ray? The Corpse Flower? Desert Sand King? The Gila? Those look so cool! I wanna hunt them!!! A few of the reskins are cool too. Swift Bat? Oasis Beast? Those look cool, and could easily be amazing with their own move sets.
really strange seeing old gameplay of my own character in a video of a game from a decade ago. I see myself multiple clips - totally forgot about this game
Man, they really went above and beyond to infringe copyright at every step.
Monster Hunter Online. God, I remember trying to play that game. The players hated you for speaking English/not being from China. It extended to the moderators, too, who banned you because "you are not meant to be there". Only one guy I know didn't get caught and he basically just kept his head down.
I still don't understand how China of all places got an exclusive monhun game.
@@Lunk42 It was my exposure to just how xenophobic the Chinese are when it comes to gaming. Never mind the irony of them using VPNs to play FIFA and the like but being hypocrites regarding YOU being able to play their games.
@@Sizdothyx You'd be surprised on how alot of the Asian exclusive countries are xenophobic
Actually there's some sketchy leaked server files somewhere nobody has been able or bothered enough to make it work but i guess it could be possible
I remember this! I swear it was shut down a long time ago. This game was amazing when i wanted my MH fix on the big screen back in the MHFU days
0:37 Kratos on his way to Midgard.
Now the CHAIN HAMMER actually feels like something that could maybe be introduced into Monster Hunter (Maybe different mechanics so Hammer never becomes obsolete but is instead still the Stun King while Chain Hammer could, perhaps DEBUFF the monster instead? Have the weapons be more likely to inflict blights?)
i kinda wanna see josh and cotton play this game
The "Desert Sand King" or whatever it is called has a face that looks heavily inspired by the graboids from tremors.
it was shutdown by Capcom wen it released in the US.
the both publishers Beeboomonline [China] and Global Times Gaming[US] were both given a cease and desist order and Global Times was sued for1.6 million USD and was settle for 250Kish USD bankrupting the company.
as for Beeboomoline it shut it's doors vary shortly after the US release.
as for the game Developer i do not know what happend to Joychina only thing i heard was wen Beeboomonline shut it's doors all studios that where liked to the publisher just disappeared most likely to avoid a lawsuit and just ran with whatever money they made.
that's all i know about the companies to Hunter Blade.
"Can I copy your homework?"
"Yea, just change it up a bit so it's not obvious"
0/10 no Gunlance >:(
I've low-key wished MH had at least one "magic" weapon since a little after I started playing, especially after reading the artbook notes.
What mh fans are running around scaring dark souls fans away by saying “BOO!! This game has no lore!!!”?
@@sekiro_the_one-armed_wolf I'm gonna guess that your first exposure to MH was after World came out so most MH fans you spoke to were also new ones. It used to be the prevailing sentiment in the English-speaking community for the game, that Souls fans were somehow ruining the games by coming to the series and comparing it incessantly to Dark Souls, and despite the latter's combat system literally being derived from MH and despite MH having intricate lore, they would go as far as denying that there was any similarity in the gameplay of the two series or that MH had any lore beyond "there is a monster, you gotta go kill it."
I always thought they were crazy, but seeing the way the last 3 major titles as well as the upcoming one have pandered to anyone and everyone except fans of any game before Generations, I'm starting to think they had a point about "outsiders" somehow "ruining the series" even if their assertions about the game were factually false.
I feel like dauntless actually did a pretty good job at not being a MH clone. It feels like a somewhat well polished more casual version, but still has some original competitive elements and ideas like omnicells and weapon specials, and a weekly speedrunning contest. I love both franchises.
clickbait then: game you may think is good is actually shit
clickbait now: game you may think is shit is actually good
Honestly Chain hammer sounds like a good consepte for a weapon, a heavy hitting weapon with ranger capabilites and a mechanic similar to the clutch claw/puppet spider but less op, I will be down for that.
magnet spikes already exist
@@MarieTheLegend Im fully aware of that, I mained it when I played frontier, but I said a chain hammer not a magnetic arc blade with a baseball hammer like movement, equipped with nuclear bomb.
Let me just say your videos are super cozy.
Love the style of narration over monhun(ish) b-roll while smooth, smooth jazz plays.
Peace my man
Love the vids man, there is not many people like you who really put passion in mh videos in this platform anymore.
Rage Gaming is one
Aw man I forgot about this game. I remember hating on this game back in the day (I was just getting good with my 3rd MonHun game). Now being a veteran I would've love to Tri this game.
Great video man, shame you can't play this anymore
Reject Monster Hunting.
Return to the Jurassic World.
LOL This clone MH looks like bullshit but it is actually the best MH clone that I have ever seen (In terms of accurate MH mechanics and gameplay).
OH MY GOD I thought I would never see anyone cover this game again. I was just thinking about hunter blade, again. I remember this game, tons of screenshots. I remember the pvp weird werewolf mode. Like what. Also the starting and end game armor was SICK> the promo for the game I loved, it was such a shame i didnt have the proper time to grind it out but also I hit the hardest wall in the game. I loved this game though. Along with ZMR. Shout out to people who played Japanese mmo monster hunter and the chinese mmo. I love Hunter Blade, to this day I have the original installation preserved waiting for the day We can resurrect it!
I actually remembering playing this. The only memory I have is how I was walking to the first area in a ravine or something, hills on both sides.
Holy shit. I thought it was going to be something like Toukiden or God Eater, but this. This here is next level shameless.
Semi Off-topic but Dauntless did the genre really well, it's like MH light. made me get into MH in the first place
It’s a Chinese game, what do you expect? They copy everyone and have no homemade success at all
When the copy is so close to the original that watching a review makes you want to play the original.
I played a bit of Hunter Blade and I had a pretty good time with it. I used the wand which was a weird change but it was a decent time for when I played it. This video was fun though because I briefly thought I had imagined this game
Oh yeah me too.
That thing sucked until you unlocked some of the skills for it, like the aoe damage zones. It's the main reason I miss that game
@@jesfest I think what made the wand stick out to me was how different it played. I just wanted something fresh at the time even if it sucked
Unironically, Kratos being a crossover skin would be sick.
i already know this will be a banger
I want to clarify that Dauntless and Wild Hearts ARE NOT Monster Hunter clones or knockoffs. inspired? definitely. but both have very different gameplay and styles
Wild Hearts unfortunately died because of these accusations, but it's a really good game
I really wish I could have played it during it's height
I don't even know anything about Monster Hunter, but I grew up in a way on this era's type of mmos where I know if I was a fan when this was out I'd have been all over it. Back in 2012 I feel you'd be shocked to see something fulfilling its' purpose so well. I've got to say, games you've made relationships with fading to time is a pretty tough deal. They're lonely memories. Makes me jealous you have a way to vocalize it.
I'm in no way ready for the e-shops closing in March.....
Bruh if you‘re gonna rip off a monster why would you choose blangonga lmao
They only had 1, 2, and tri back then. Probably couldn’t manage to rip a ton of tri monsters before it got shut down.
this somehow feels like someone who really like MonHun and wanted an MMO version of it but didn't have enough creativity to make an entirely new thing so they just CTRL C V'd and then added any new ideas they could and pushed it, I think this is because from the sounds it was only cosmetics in the shop which makes me think the creator wasn't 100% greed, just like, 70% at most
man i remember playing a lot of this game with my friend. it was the only way for us to play a monster hunter game together. aside from managing to play Frontier or use xlink kai to play online on the PSP.
so yeah before 4U playing mh with your friend online was a pain in the ass. xlink kai, ad hoc party, cracking frontier on pc or xbox, nobody had a wii U to play online so we where stuck on the 3ds version of 3G and local multiplayer etc.
so even if this game was a pure knockoff, it manage to fill a void for us european at that time. its also why dauntless was so hype at that time.
plus you had more RPG element than MH. you had a competence/skill tree system where you could spent point to unlock new move. its a long time so i barely remember but i'm sure that i mess aroud in the dual sword skill tree and unlocked some new demon mode move.
>mentions Christopher Judge
>clearly is T.C. Carson Kratos
Rajang is a boar? Also...there is already a giant bullfango monster, called bulldrome.
Mom I want Monster Hunter!
We already got Monster Hunter at home!
The Monster Hunter at home:
Defunct. Good. No matter how fun, plagiarism is awful.
Never thought I would see the day where I'd see a Na'vi and Kratos in one setting...
The monster design actually looks really cool.
I now consider giant mosswine as canon to monster hunter
I do find it funny that so many monsters look.. Well, weird and unique (ignore that they're ripoffs for a moment) but then you get to the small monsters and herbivores and it's just straight up regular dinosaurs, mammoths and etc that look like they came from a ps2 Turok game.
Capcom should just buy the hunter blade ip and rebrand it as the new monster hunter frontier.
Is that Dark Souls in my Monster Hunter or Monster Hunter in my Dark Souls?
17:05 this footage hit home for me for some reason, lol
The flying fading text, the dude stopping a hunt to shit on the invader via in-game chat.
Imagine a mode for monster Hunter where one player controls the monster and and the rest are hunters. Kinda like evolve but more simple.
How does this game exist, and wasn't legally oblitorated?
This is freakin insane.
It doesn’t, and it was
I'm a MH Otaku, and this game is awsome. I'm a PC game in Europe and this game missed me back in time, I Wish so much to know this sooner
All right ngl, as much as I hate Invaders in souls games, the thought of someone being able to invade you during a Monster hunt sounds kinda fun in theory.
It seems clunkier than even Monster Hunter 1, and Monster Hunter 1 was CLUNKINESS HELL!
Imo pvp has no place in the monsterhunter franchise and would only serve to toxify the community.
Honestly, this should have hit consoles. I mean, we got Dauntless and Wild Hearts, so why not? I love it!
