@@thunderbirdice I believe it's punched out with one of those larger, coin size single-hole punches. Visualize the tiny punch they use every time you buy a Starbucks or whatever... those being about the size of a ladybug(?)... The ones for this project are about the size of a dime, or a penny I think. They're super sharp so they don't return a curved form; it should be perfectly flat. Wish I could find instructions for the process. I guess I'll start by drinking a couple twelve packs of Bublé water, LOL
I had the impression the nails were placed first, then the "coin" was hung on it, little hole punched beforehand. That way they can move freely in the slightest breeze. I NEED A SUPER CLOSE UP VIEW!!
I don't think they nail *through* the circles, bc they would not move freely. I think a nice uniform hole is punched, and then hung on a nail in the board, that is a bit smaller diameter than the tiny hole. They need to be able to flutter in the breeze. THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!

I wonder too. Feels like it would be some kind of circle cutter. Hand cutting takes too long and may not be even.
