Ireland's non-stop footwork might be the reason why they lost. Taiwan was literally just holding their ground against the constant pull, and attack when there's a "rhythm break" from Ireland.
That's just how the strategy for this game goes. You have to move your feet in order to attack, and when the other team is attacking you defend. It's not a given that the first attacking team loses - it doesn't always go this way. Holding another team still like happened here is not as easy as the Taiwanese team made it look. One good pull that made a Taiwanese member lose their footing for a moment would have changed the result but they held firm
@@RugnirSvenstarr Yea, people don't appreciate just how much muscle fatigue goes into trying to put on a defensive against that much pull. There's just as much chance a taiwanese player loses a footing and if one minor slip happens, the irishmen's existing momentum would've gone full snowball.

In order for Taiwan to be able to compete in international sporting events they have to compete under "Chinese Taipei" so the host organization or country doesn't imply support of Taiwan as a real country. The Taiwanese team won because they took advantage of how ropes work. Their portion of the rope was more slack in their hands, which makes it easier to hold onto, and they were really just using their legs to resist the pulling of the Irish team.
They’re named Chinese Taipei because Taiwan has literally always been part of China. Under Carter even the US declared so. Literally the rest of the world both recognizes Taiwan as always having been part of China, and the US having no business on that side of the planet. It’s hilarious if you think about it. The fact that they even allow them to compete as a separate team is already acknowledging them. Would they allow Hawaii to compete as a separate team called “American Honolulu”? Of course not, that’s absurd! Right. I second and third round I saw one Irish guy lose his footing and the rest came tumbling for their team. Either way that was an intense set for sure.
is that really true though? when you think about the two teams as opposing forces, when one team is attempting to pull back in their direction with their singular foot in the air, the team has a higher force and thus would mean it's harder to make them be derailed.
That still makes no sense to me. Cause after the thirty seconds both sides have exerted the same force on the rope. The difference in force applied to the rope from both teams combined is the force needed to move only the weight of the rope a given distance. And yet it's a strategy. It must require less effort to resist movement than it takes to pull. Probably cause their legs act like hooks in the ground. The asian team has more friction since they're basically horizontal and their cg is lower to the ground. That's what it is. Edit. People have liked this comment so it has.me thinking. It's actually a game of torques. The lower the center of gravity the more effort being directed into moving the rope than in creating a rigid lever arm with your body. If your center of gravity is higher your effort it spent on maintaining a rigid lever arm and less effort is left for actually moving the rope, assuming both teams can output equivalent torques on the ground. This makes sense intuitively if you e ever had to push furniture or something
In events like this- it's so funny to think that your team won because of you but not when defeated, i guess each individual who pulls that rope has same feeling.
The Chinese team has been training for this day since they were 4 years old. The Irish team consisted of 8 guys they found in a pub.

Its all about breaking the rythm..the absolute micro-second when the opposite team has one feet in the air is your chance to derail them.
is that really true though? when you think about the two teams as opposing forces, when one team is attempting to pull back in their direction with their singular foot in the air, the team has a higher force and thus would mean it's harder to make them be derailed.
Rice power vs bread power

Who’s here because of Squid Game?!
It's so weird, to me. how all these underground sports have such followings... Where's the world tiddlyWinks series take place?

This is not a competition of strength, but also an exam of intelligence...the strategy decide the final result...
Yeah I'm sure the competitors don't all do mad squats.
I... Agree... Thank... You.... For... Your... Input... How very... *dramatic*
@@michaelc2472 Nope. As evidence in the video the Irish lost to them.
Сильны китайцы, умеют побеждать в команде!
I immediately thought of Squid Game when I saw this.
Ahhh i get it. Let them drag you and drag you - then when they are weakest pull really hard and the cards fall.
@@Powd3r81 You're both talking about total work done basically

Yes it's about sticking your feet on the ground, these Chinese make an explosive pull to make the opponent slip.

In events like this- it's so funny to think that your team won because of you but not when defeated, i guess each individual who pulls that rope has same feeling.
Wait is this the chinese team or Taiwan team? It says TPE (Taipie) on the coach's bib
