They still need to explain how Freddie got toughened up he's not like how he was portrayed as a kid. And Niles son David, he's more than what Frasier & Niles were like portrayed as a kid / adult. With Daphne as his mom and her side of the family, he'd be a bit tougher, not so clumsy. It's like Freddie and David switched roles.

People grow up and change, that's life. The last time we saw Freddy before this series, he was 14 and the series ended when he was 15. Add in that after he got into Harvard, he realized it wasn't for him, and as it's been hinted at, spent a lot of time with Martin before Martin died. This means Freddie began to take on more of his grandfather's characteristics, and since this new series takes place nearly 20 years later, a lot does change. Hell, are you like you were back in highschool, or are you completely different?

I do wish Jane Leeves and David Hyde Pierce had joined the new show, I respect their choice. I hope they will do a guest star appearance... Niles and Daphne come to visit David, and while there, of course they'll see Frasier too.
I didn't expect the new series to be identical to the old one. No one should! I'm enjoying the new show. I own the old one on DVD, and watch it as I please. I still love it.

Fraiser is good, but several disappointing features. First the clothes they have Frasier in, just don't fit with his hoity toddy attitude about clothes and apartment he's always had. The plaids though popular now just don't fit how Frasier would dress even if he's retired. He'd be in uppity clothes, a nice shirt and a sweater vest or jacket etc.
Most disappointing factor is Niles and Daphne are not in the show. Niles acting alongside Fraiser is what made the show so good and Daphne was such a spark in the show. Very disspointing they are not in it. I hope they do cameo's in the future.
Then lastly, I pity Niles son for having to act like him, cause it's going to be very difficult for a young actor to pull off what Niles did, cause he was really the best actor on the show; and he was able to pull things off many actors couldn't and convince the audience.

Remember Frasier was independent and didn't really want to spend time with everyone. Forces forced him to care for his father. Not the he didn't care.Frasier was Postcard style caring. Being a Psychogist he kept everyone at a distance to not be involved with their issues. I new a few like this that were this extreme without the laughter. The few I new wouldn't acknowledge your presence. So they don't have speak to you.
Classism obviously. Frasier was able to interact with people. But many people are that extreme. So when I watch the show because Frasier is a loveable buffoon. He gets some things right and to many wrong 😅. Good Video

I think they should have found an actor, who looked a lot like Niles, with much of his same character traits, but every so often, a bit of Daphne's accent, choice of British words, and her strong character would come out. But...that would be hard to write a script for, and even harder for an actor to bring that multi-faceted character to life.

  • @michaelberthelot3594

A major problem with the new show is that they are trying to re-create the dynamic between Frasier and his dad instead of show how the dynamic between Frasier and Freddy really would have turned out. The Freddy we saw on the original series would not have grown up to be a fire fighter but they made him one to make him a substitute for Martin. They could have had Frasier return to Boston but be so excited about becoming a Harvard professor that he unwittingly ignored Freddy, who was maybe a professor at Boston Community College, or a psychiatrist like his mom, dad, and uncle. Besides dealing with Freddy's abandonment issues, he and Frasier could have argued about academic theories and who was smarter. They also tried to make Niles & Daphne's son David a copy/substitute for Niles when they should have made him similar to Daphne's brother Simon. Now that would have been funny. The problem is they're trying to make the characters in this show be replacements for the characters in the original show instead of making them their own characters. If they would have gone the way I suggest, we could have had the father-son rivalry between Frasier and Freddy but also had them trying to rescue David from his Simon-like misadventures plus their embarrasment at his behavior.

If this series is a success on it's own their absence would help to build up hype for their return. Maybe nit as regulars, but as recurring characters. I don't buy the actor's excuse for not returning. Probably seeing how the show does before making any commitments, and his agent more 5han likely using this as negotiating tactic.

lIKE EVERY NEW SHOW its natural to struggle on its first seasons. This frasier had to be another one all by it self. It could not be the same. This being said - for the amount I've seen on youtube - this one is not up to its original in the way the actors engage with each other. Lacks something. I can point NOW TWO MAJOR REASONS for the "flop". Very IMPORTANT ONES that people don't see but are RIGHT THERE!!!!
    1 - LIGHTNING
    2 - SCENERY
OK, I'll give it a 3rd: some characters act like charicatures.
The importance of a good crew behind the scenes is mindblowing. The first Frasier had taste and color and brightness. The visual helped the dynamics. This frasier is darker. The sceneries look like props - that is what they are. The first Frasier was great in many ways. Frasier is still there - is still the same - the character, I mean. But all the rest that help Frasier be so lovely is gone. How long can Kelsey Krammer portrait a man still looking for a partner and always turns to stunning younger women when he got to his golden years?

David Hyde Pierce didn't make comments to that effect. He's just working on different things now and was the one who made the very good point that Fraiser became such a breakout hit because it didn't rely on appearances from cheers characters to prop it up. He's won multiple Tony awards since Frasier wrapped up, and he's on Broadway right now. They're professional actors, and they're not obliged to come back for every revival.

New characters with Fraser as the only original might as well be other sitcom basically. Might as well bring Seinfeld back. I think everyone is still alive. Older
Its hard to find good personalities these days. People have changed. Society has done a nose dive. And we're too PC to tell it like it is with humor.
Maybe if Fraser moved to Boston and reunited with Lilith. Their son Frederick nothing they had hoped ..but a simpleton blue color buff guy. Daphne and Niles son leaves home to come stay with his aunt and uncle Fraser and cousin while his parents are abroad. The boy is adamant on saving the environment and believes in aliens. He goes to rallies and helps the homeless Although he is also a musician and plays violin. Frederick has a penchant for photographģg😮

If this is going to be anything like the original show, then they're saving that for a momentous episode.
They're not going to tell you everything right away, they're just establishing the chemistry and relationships between characters for now.
      Patience.
And of course they're gonna name drop Niles, he's David's dad, Fredrick's uncle, and Frasier's brother. That's 3 out of the "6 main cast members". If no one talks about him, then the giant David Hyde Pierce shaped hole will look even bigger 😂
I remember all the episodes about Martin's hip. The ones that addressed what happened, what happened right after, and his insecurities, etc.

Emphasis on the differences between old and new generation and the massive change in society. Class and civility out the window. High technology and know it all youth who have little time for history or fine arts.
Without talented actors and unique believable...and lovable characters....it's just another average show.

I have to go along with others. The reboot is not good at all. Kelsey Grammer is the only funny one on the show. The one who’s playing his son is just terrible and the lady who plays a part at the university is not funny at all. The actor who plays David Who is supposed to be like his father Niles, is not funny at it. Kelsey Grammer has really nobody to play off of. That’s just my opinion, of course. I’m really sad about it as Frasier was an absolute hug favorite for me.
