    Slee has been a staple in aftermarket Landcruiser gear for a long time.
    Recently they have done a redesign of their coveted Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier.
    Is it better than the Original?
    You be the judge.
    In this video, we have the New Slee and Old Slee side by side and dissect the differences.
    Also in the video are the ActionTrax boards mounted to the rear tire carrier.
    Message me if you are interested in a set of these boards.
    Here is a video of a LC I bought just for that old school tubular Slee bumper:

    I've always liked the original tubular version. IMO it looks more upmarket and aesthetically pleasing. The newer version looks more DIY (ie. home-made) and less sleek looking. Plus the older version carries the wheel closer to the tailgate - which is my preference. I don't like the spare wheel sticking out too far back. Having said that, I do like the gas struts of the new version over the original version's latching mechanism and the cut off bumper ends. It gives it a better finish, design wise.

      Slee had enough customer feedback over the years to implement the changes (gas struts, 1.latch etc...)
      But curious they went away from the tubular ladder. I would say over 70% like the tube over the flat square for an 80.

    Pretty much anything Slee is gold. Every time I am ready to get their rock sliders they sell out with a quickness. I think they look the best for my application. For the rear bumper it's nice you don't have to do any cutting and that Slee shortbus front is sexy!

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  2 года назад +1

      Yes, no cutting your cross member... plug and play is great.
      Heard stories of peopls with the slee getting rear ended, and nothing happens to the Slee...

    I was lucky enough to get a slee rear bumper for my brand new 200 series and had it installed a couple of weeks ago. It is a work of art. All kidding aside the welds are incredible the quality is incredible the engineering is incredible the looks are incredible the functionality is incredible. I will go out on a limb and say this is the best rear bumper dual carrier in the entire world. Thanks for posting your wonderful video

      Eric, you are motivating me to get one for my 200 series! They are super clean, and unlike the 4x4 labs in a 80, you don't have to cut off your cross member..
      And who wants to cut off your Cross Member! Sounds too involving and you may walk with a limp afterwards...lol

      Agreed... did you get that noise/whine fixed on your 80? I have a minor version of that on my 95' 80. Its noticeable when in N or P, almost goes away when trans is underload in D...
      I noticed this when going from OME lift to Icon 3".
      I think goimg DC driveshaft can solve the problem, unless its transmission.
      The new 80 I picked up had 4" + lift and PO said had a load vibration, and DC driveshaft solved it.

    Love the Slee bumpers...the original tubular ladder definitely has the edge visually. How much lift on each of these trucks - 4" ballpark? Your collection of Cruisers is envy-inducing! And great talking with you a while back - still on the hunt for a nice 100 to pull daily duties!
    Edit: Just answered my own question....~3" and 4"/5" on the other, should have finished the last 4 mins before asking. Good stuff.

      You have some really nice LC's. I have a 96 80 with the old man emu lift. Wanting to get the Slee rear bumper to hold my spare. Still deciding on the front and the roof rack. I have a slick top so it's ready to receive a roof rack.

    FWIW, call me at the shop. The "finger" trigger on your latch on the new bumper is in the wrong way. It should be rotated 180 degrees so that you can use your finder to push the U bolt under the catch. Christo

      @CruisingTheLand  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the call and heads up. Will flip the handle around. Best rear bumper by far!!
      BTW. The wife pulled up behind it at the house, passenger tire went up the slope curb, she panicked amd hit the gas...
      Full speed into the Slee bumper.
      8k in damage to LX570 she hit it with, not a mark on the Slee.. for real, I couldnt even find a scuff!
      The Slee bumpers and sliders let you put a high deductible om your insurance to save $$, BC they protect your car... or just 1 way insurance! If only it wasnt own fleet that hit it!

      Thats a Joe's Racing Fire Extinguisher mount.
      I flipped it and used the Hose clamo to go around the prinsu bar (that is typically for the Extinguisher) and used the tube mount part to hold the Axe. Then just pull the pin and preato, Axe.

      The Gray spare wheel in the back is the AlphaEquipt 'Delta', has 2 valves so you can airdown/up and monitor pressure om 2nd valve. But the red wheels on the rig are Fuel Zephyr 201s beadlock.
      They are nice, deep dish, and will be goinf in for a powdercoating.

    Sorry question for you. I watch all your videos and you are a Land Cruiser expert. As I said I have a 200 series and I have a front ARB summit and the slee dual in the rear and a long range America gas tank underneath the 24 gallon. What springs would you put on your rig if it was you? I am trying to save money so the most economical solution please, thank you in advance for your thoughts

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  2 года назад

      Depends if you are looking for lift, overland, or normal use.
      In my 200, I did the poorman' lift (haha) which is the front spacer which US models had the lower front to meet front bumper regulations.

    • @erich964
