Hey Beav my mother in law bought me a tactical baby gear diaper bag and I’m a huge off-road enthusiast didn’t know you are also. Makes me love the company even more. I have a sweet gx 470 all built up. Love this bumper build came out great. Love that your daughter is involved.
Bev does an incredible job of explaining everything he's going to do to mount this rear bumper. Between Travis' camera work, and Bev's occasional handheld camera, you can clearly see what's going on. And I love how Bev incorporates his daughter's help when he can. What a great way to build father-daughter memories.
Very nice job! My next one will be DIY because of this video! I believe what people have done to get the tire closer to the body is angle the tire mount so rather than the tire being perfectly straight the top is tilted towards the body. That kicks the bottom out and allows you room to get closer. Also, I THINK the high lift jack mounts to the side of the jerry can basket on the inside. That's how mine is though mine is a very old 4x4 Labs bumper and for an FJ60.
You can see at 10:53 that he put the horizontal 2x2 in backwards. If the angled end was in front, the tire would angle back and tuck in closer. We built one of these bumpers and every step is a bit of a puzzle.
Fantastic work on the installation. That's a time consuming one for sure and your attention to detail really made the end result perfect! And great video production!
Amazing job… I have 93 model and I want to bay the same bamper you have , I look on 4x4 labs and there is many options Can you tell us please what bamper do you have selected from the options? Best Regards Rotem from Israel
Love 4x4 Labs bumpers. However I find the latch and swing arms a little finicky. The way you have it setup in the video, the latch opens up very nicely without much force. If you hit your tire with your hand you'll notice that the tire will swing back and forth and wobble. You can only imagine what that's gonna do off-road. You're going to get a ton of wobble and vibration and the metal bump stops will rattle like crazy. The only way to stop it is to adjust the latch so that it is much tighter. Then it becomes extremely hard to open and operate the latch. I sorta fixed this by installing polyurethane bumpstops so that there's no metal on metal contact. You might also need another diagonal gusset on the tire carrier as well to prevent the harmonic vibration. Again I love the look, build quality and departure angle improvements of the 4x4Labs bumpers but their latch system needs improvement.
Complete agree with you. I have a 4X4 labs bumper on my 80 series and this my highest complaint about it. My tire wobbles quite a bit enough to make knocking sounds. Drives me crazy! Currently trying a couple things to get this wobble to stop. First being a bracket that hooks the high lift jack to the main swing arm of the bumper. Secondly, I may try a soft bumper that contacts the strong area of the Landcruiser's hatch to dampen the back and forth motion.
Nicely done!! Curious why did you want to change bumpers anyway? I know this one has great departure angles. It's pretty amazing how well your daughter has taught you to weld. ;-)
Looking stout. Working on a similar project and have some questions- how many cans of encapsulator and chassis black did the job take? How much lift did you lose? Thanks!
Love seeing parents involving their kids on projects. Great video

gotta love Cameron's looking at you, 0:15 so wonderful! Thank you!
I just gained an even greater appreciation for 4x4 Labs. Oh and the Eastwood 2k! Great stuff.
yes sir!
Great video. Those welds are LEGIT! Nicely done
thank you
Beautiful. Cameron did a great job as well!
Thank you!
Looking good, Beav!
Thanks!
Wow...I've wanted to do this to my 80. Thx for going through this. I'm scared to cut it up.
It’s worth it!
I know it's 3yrs later but an easy fix for the struts is just tension the bearings up more. As the strut weakens with age you can losen the bearing

The Land Cruiser is looking awesome! Can’t wait for you to get it finished up and out on the trails.

Great video. Thanks !! Well put together and helps cement my decision to pick up this kit. Strong Dad game too!
Thanks! It’s totally worth it!
Beautiful!
looks great, yup, put the swing out handle on the right, no biggie
Great build!
Sick video man! I just got my 80 back on the road from paint! Wanna help a fellow 80 brother weld his bumper? Haha

Thanks! I’ll get these mods in mind if I notice and issues. So far so good.

Excelente 👌
Love the build where did u get those window visors from?

I wanted the added armor, recovery points and a place to mount the larger spare and carry more fuel the thirsty pig..
Great looking rig. What size of tires on the stock rims are you running?
BF Goodrich All-terrains
295/75/16 (33.4x11.6)
Mentioned them in this video too.. ruclips.net/video/7EB9pua-h4g/видео.html

I think used about 4 cans of each.
Are you talking about loosing suspension lift?
@@BeavBrodie1 yeah- what was the effect of the bumper on the overall clearance of your cruiser? Thanks!
I’m not 100% certain. I also added a goose gear system and roof top tent. Those all combined lost about an inch of suspension.
Love this bumper by anychs ce do you know the weight of the rear bumper , trying to decide which spring I should be running for the rear
tell me your daughter isn't going to have her own show on the Motor Trend network someday.
❤
Do these bumpers rattle at all?
No rattles so far. Been almost a year
Where did ya get this bumper from?
4x4 Labs. Link is down in the description.
