Started replaying this after putting it down 3.5 years ago and l really have been enjoying the game at hour 95. Your explanation of how to get what you want is making my brain expand. I'm feeling it grow with knowledge. Thank you!
I feel ya. I'm picking up a save file from 2021 and having to do some serious research. I'm really enjoying it now that I turned the difficulty down. Somehow I made it halfway through on hard mode before.
@Xylus. The sad part is they are locking certain weapon skill on harder difficulty. I enjoyed the game, but its been months since I started and I'm ridiculously tired of the game already. Just reached tower of Loghrim and mobs are getting tankier and tankier each area. Really cant be bothered to relearn the equipment stuff everytime I drop the game for weeks and trying to remember shit again lol
Gotta say, I hope this system doesn't return in future Tales series. Once upon a time, things were so simple and clean.... I really didn't like all the micro-management this game had, even though it was 'mostly' optional. Wish they just kept the forging system from Tales of Symphonia or something: just acquire certain items and equipment and boom, you can forge something immediately better out of it (and not just a tiny +3 to a few stats, too).
+skmattso we need it to be more straight forward with crafting gear and obtaining skills on them. I'm hoping most gear in general will have base skills as part of them but we can craft skills to add on to them.
Personally I liked the mixer and fusion systems of Graces. The constant "carrot on a stick" was fun, obtainable and made a difference in the strength of your character. Zestiria is just a nightmare.
this is way better then berseria i've gotta say here you do have atleast some favor in what items you want to farm... took me frikking 148 hours to get perfect gear for 1 char, it involved 100% nonelmental power, and highest cap of bg restore and capped 30% increase when paralyse, 30% increase attack when fire 30% increase attack when stunned. oh boi dude... i was almost annoyed over never getting the items i wanted.
This is system is so unnecessarily convoluted! Since they introduced Normins in this game that grant equipment dropped in battle the skills you set up, they should have just cut it down to Normins being able to grant any weapons their respective skill in exchange for gald, requiring a number of battles to unlock (change from blue to white) as a balancing measure. There isn't much you can do with gald in the end game, so you end up with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, so why not give it a more practical use? And by having immediate access to skills any time you want, provided you found the Normins, you're also encouraged to experiment with the skill stacking and lining up systems. Seriously, you need 6 stacks to become immune to petrify, which you need in order to reasonably stand a chance against the Gorgons in this game, but nowhere in this game it's stated how this works - only a vague hint when you reach Horsa Village, but that happens during the fight you need it for and you're not even told how many stacks you need, requiring experimentation without proper guidance when you may very well lack the necessary numbers to trigger the petrification immunity bonus. At least give us a guide with the stack and union guides bonus listed, so we can plan which bonuses we'll be after without requiring guides on the internet!
This system is so convoluted and annoying. They could have just brought back the shards from Graces which were tedious too but at least weren't basically random.
+Swilo the formula is if they are the same element, it will give you a random skill in between those two in the same element. if they are the same column, it will give you a skill in the same tier. if they are both different, it'll give you a skill somewhere in between both.
+Lolicage In addition, I don't think it is random, "there is nothing random about equipment fusion". I am pretty sure internally, there is a system, which skill matched with what skill becomes what. Aside from "staying inside same element/colomn" I have not figured out if there is a pattern to that, of if someone programmed that table was just screwing around with stuff.
If anyone plays this game in the future....dont even worry about this. They messed up real bad with the fusion. Just fuse whatever you want as many times as you want and dont worry about the whole skill thing. Its a waste of time, literally. Youd have to spend 30 mins trying to figure out what you want and save and reload if you dont get it.
Is there any possibility you could tell me what the stat Focus exactly does? I can't find it explained ANYWHERE in the game or on the internet :( I stacked Attack on Sorey and pretty much have nothing but that lol.
+swillo Thank you for the answer. I'd like to pose two more questions: What's the best spot to go farm equipment for fusion as fast as possible? And how do skills behave in Armatization, could i make one character have a stack of 16 for endless chaining and the other have tons of Tempescht for crazy comboing potential or wont that work?
I don't mind grinding in RPG's for decent equipment but this is a bit too much for me. It's not hard to figure out it just feels like a time sink. Heck just thinking about it is giving me a headache.
That's what ive feel when i see those video make me headache thinking on the time that i have to be playing to get the 100%.. i'm going to end the game like lv70-80 and cya that was fun but i dont want to make this so bored.
+Soravssinh I love ToZ and want to give it a chance. I almost have all of the side quests done but the only issue that I have is trying to find all of the Monoliths. Then there is leveling up all of The Lords of the Land. Ugh, I'm going to stick with my casual Trials in The Sky SC and then come back to this game.
That's cool I didn't know about that unnamed thing. My Sorey still has that all stats + 20 so every sword I've been getting has have lower stats than what he has on...
i little bit of complexity doesnt hurt, but what i dislike about the tales games is the late game grind. this game is no exception with the gear system. to get what you want you need to spend countess hours farming. thankfully one could cheese it in vesperia with ritas endless toilet flushing. but even this took good amount of hours and preparation.
Really hated this Fusion system. On top of enemy weapon drops being extremely random. You had to get lucky enough to get the skills you wanted with that drop.
Would you recommend waiting until newgame+ to worry about fusions? Also I know they probably said it but could you remind of the benefit of having maxed items? Thanks again for the video!
+Caitie Gee You won't be able to get the benefits of 2x or 3x skills until NG+, but on your first playthrough you can at least work on building your unnamed equipment to +99 if you like that way you can offer it up to increase the 2x and 3x modifier. Here is a guide for what I'm talking about. The benefits of maxed gear is higher stats (except unnamed gear doesn't get stronger) and when you offer it to a lord of the land it will increase the chance of a 2x or 3x skill appearing when playing on Chaos difficulty. Here is a guide about it. www.gamefaqs.com/ps4/168513-tales-of-zestiria/faqs/71495
i think unnamed gears only can use for making double or triple skills gears, there's a guide about how to use unnamed gear to do that, its stat very low and cannot be raised even how many times you fuse it
Thanks for explaning! Im still trying to figure out how to know the elements? Do we have to know them all by heart? For example, is "Releeph" always gonna be in the wind category or can it also be water? That grid is Sooo complex lol😂
Do you have any suggestions for doing a Chaos playthrough or Alisha's story on higher difficulties? Alisha's story on higher difficulties doesn't feel like it's meant to be done on a first playthrough. (ie. I finished main game on Intense at level 67 with minimal playing around of fusion. It doesn't feel like going into Alisha's story right after for Intense is a good idea). Should I be working on unnamed gear before doing either of these?
+Roltair Max out lord of the lands. The battle related boons are a huge help, and also playing on New Game + so you have all the grade shop perks as well. Working on unnamed gear is a good idea, but I wouldn't say it's going to make a big difference unless you are willing to go above and beyond to make a crazy build, but that isn't really necessary to do either of these. Here are some things you can maybe aim for to help. Get 11 stack mystic on your seraphs so when you armatize, you will have reduced cast time on your spells. Try to get 16 stack eterniti on Sorey and Rose so you can do endless chaining, but you will definitely have to go NG+ for that, or just as many 4 stack chains as you can get. Use a lot of mystic artes, they are a big deal in this game. I'll be doing a follow up video to this soon discussing how to go about getting ultimate gear and such.
Thank you. I've a few more questions if it wouldn't be a bother to answer those as well. I did NIND for most of my fights on Hard and Intense. I don't think most people care about the AI in this game because they are kind of that bad. Do you think I'd need the additional HP, additional exp, carried over herb enhancements and unnamed gear to keep that up? You also recommended mystic. Do enemies give you that much less time to attack/have that much less stagger time that it's necessary?
+Roltair Yeah the A.I. is terrible, and so I just focus more on things that will help me control the battle more. Additional HP can help, but if you play with double damage like I do, having a lot of HP might be pointless, but it might be worth it just because it's something extra that you can't normally get. EXP I would try to get, herb enhancements I would only do if you used a significant chunk of herbs, I didn't use many herbs my first playthrough so while I did carry it, I only did so because I had so much grade to play with, the only thing I ended up not getting which was double gald, which I already had the DLC version of it, so I literally got everything for NG+. Mystic is just really good for keeping combos going, it's not mandatory, but you can nuke the field hardcore with armitization spells, and you can keep bosses locked in combos more reliably with faster spell casting speed, and of course it will help the A.I. be more useful backing you up with faster spells. Make sure you at least carry over your unnamed gear (which means getting it sanctified so that it turns into the unnamed gear) even if you don't optimize it immediately so that you at least have it in your inventory for NG+. The thing about unnamed gear is that the stats are completely awful, so if you don't have a really good build on it, the low stats may be a hindrance, but unnamed gear is also not just good for equipping but it's good for offering as well. When you offer a +99 piece of gear to the lord of the lands, whatever skill was in the first slot will gain a 100% x2 multiplier and a 6% x3 multiplier, which means every time that skill appears on a piece of gear, it will be a x2 or x3 version, but you have to be playing on chaos and have majority of your battles done on chaos for this to work. Here is a guide detailing it. www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/740217-tales-of-zestiria/faqs/71495 I'll be trying to put up a video soon going over the most efficient way to create ultimate gear, but hopefully this info can help for now.
+Roltair Yeah I don't sanctify it unless I have it perfectly set up the way I want it or when I know that I'm about to go NG+ and need to carry it with me.
+swillo actually I figured it out on my own with a bit of research. You said to check the comments, but the only one I see is actually wrong. Check my channel if you want to see the exact formula as to how to get a specific skill from ANY skill on the table. The system works on averaging two skills together, and while the other commenter said a roundabout way to get it, it doesn't tell me how exactly it works and what combos I need to look for, the legitimate actual formula does and is actually really simple.
How do you actually obtain nameless equipment? Does the 6 bosses within the final dungeon have the 6 weapons that can be fused with any item in its own tier? Is there an alternative way to receive these weapons?
To get the nameless equipment you must fuse the weapons dropped from the 4 bosses in the final dungeon 10 times and then have them sanctified by the lord of the land. I haven't been able to find soreys and roses weapons yet.
did you happen to collect the jokes from the optional dungeon and carried those over as well. and leaving the last boss that makes heldalf extremely powerful for new game plus
Hey Swillo thanks for the great guide! Quick question. I like to play the game on the higher difficulties but the Party AI seems to always die to the simplest things. I've tried getting better equipment and switching titles and different things in the strategy menu but they just don't seem to do well on their own. Do you have any suggestions?
+abrigedon It's not worth playing on higher difficulties unless you plan to basically do everything yourself, or you have strong equipment. That A.I. is just naturally bad in this game
Hey swillo i just finished the game but im kinda lost with the "newgame+" thing, should i start a newgame+ or i have to do more things on my normal game? btw u are a really great skilled player, thanks for the videos (:
There is a bonus dungeon near the final boss after finishing the game. Do that first and wrap up any sidequests you want before going NG+. Also level lord of the lands of you want more grade for bonuses.
would you recommend just fusing anything on the joke weapons till there+10 and then sanctify them. so when I'm on new game plus I can start putting the skills I want on them. or should I put the skills I want on them now
+russell kaplan At least get them sanctified otherwise you would be able to carry them over. After that you can either do it on your first game or wait until NG+, I did a combination of both. I only got Sorey some skills on his and waited for NG+ for everyone else.
Ba que porcaria eu vendi tudo estas armas achei que nao servia para nada que droga , mas se eu virar no novo jogo mais eu consigo elas de volta ? E obrigado por botar legendas em portugues Brasil.
this system is way better then tales of berseria honestly cause here you can fuse together piece, to get a big fuckking badass piece in the end. compared to tales of berseria, the system is like you grind monsters for equipment however, you have no way at all to decide what skills goes where, thanks to zestiria brilliant system (Yesi know it may take 100 of hours assimilating together the correct gear, however. it beats rng any day of the time, something i can do consistent to get a reward out of it than pray on rng i take that any day of the week.
I'm a man who likes some complexity, but I do agree Zestiria's system is overly complicated. I will agree with you however that Berseria's system is too far in the other direction. I think they share a common factor: not enough control. You don't have enough control over what is happening with your gear(especially in Berseria where you have none).@@SissySara113
*sigh* idea is nice with fusion but...it hard to try do decent ones. You need some way to make gold in early at game to even have chance to make helpfull pieces of gear for your self. Tales of Berseria enchanting system is decent even if you can only make +3 a casual dificulty lvl. it works and resistant ring that gives +5 arte defence and + 5 arte attack adding top of that 10 to focus is nice to have.
I'm trying to make the righteous graver sword for Sorey and I have the two weapons needed to make it but it won't give me the option to do it any ideas?
Fuck me. I'm trying to to platinum trophy this Tales but it's a god damn nightmare how they did the stat/skill system and made you rely on good equipement. This "Sweet 16" trophy. Oh boy. The ol' Kingdom Hearts ALL gummi ship blueprints trophy isn't looking too tedious now. Not only that but I need the good equipement to beat the final boss on the higher difficulties. maaaaannnnn I didn't know you could overwrite locked skills like that though, so it might be a bit easier than I thought. thanks broooo, time to go cry myself to sleep and try to do a clean up like 6 months from now.
This system blows as was only meant for...nothing, since you can clear the game with base items...and the EX dungeon with base items. The upgrading +1-99 gear is onlything that was necessary, but not even that much.
For people who are lazy... Accumulate tempescht skills until you can stack from battlefusion the stack skill to chant magic in half time or the ones after that... That way you gather BG to do cool stuff and can let loose with heavy magic from fusion at a very quick rate... Aiming for the DMG reduction skills or any other for that matter makes the game boring... So tempescht for the win.
Very good Guide, but I think fusion is bullshit. It doesn't make any sense in progressing in game. Just have a different of skills to choose among. You can go a very long dungeon get many weapons, but in the end they are not as good as you already have. My advice: never fusion two weapons. Better to sale. Fusion is to expensive, well you have to buy to upgrade stores, but the reward is bad. In an open world you should get rewarded for clearing hard dungeons and bosses, but the weapons are never better. Fusion is a big dissapointment in this game... Graces was much better. You don't feel progressive with fusioning, because you throw away very expensive gear for maybe 3+ abilities? Xenoblade was openworld and had very good rewards for clearing optional bosses, but this game doesn't reward you well by doing side quest... often its just a story reward. I think BG and SC is the best to go for... otherwise just aim for best weapons... bring back materials for upgrade and make weapons, fusion skills is bullshit because 99% you don't know what you'll get...
+NintendoJimmy The fusion system is pretty horribly designed compared to skill and equipment systems of past games, like I say at the beginning I beat the game without even touching it. It's basically just something you can do for fun if you still want to keep playing after you beat the game.
Thx for reply. Yeah agree. I was excpecting something good from this game as you said tales has better systems in the past. I spent so many hours in Graces fusioning, but here it doesn't make any sense, and getting skills is just random? I mean you need endless of gear to fusion right weapon, the more you fuse the more confused you'll get. And is the bonusskills even rewarding ? I mean, buying weapon and none is better than you have? I thought this game was going to be like Graces, but they took the good parts and made them bad. Fusioning in an "openworld" could have been what make the game longer and rewarding, but now its just storyprogrssive for clearing dungeons... dissapointing.
I'm mad at myself for wasting 5 hours into this garbage game. Now I feel obligated to continue when it is torture playing this terribly designed game. I grew up on chrono trigger, FF6, earthbound etc. Where is the story, the music, the fun combat? Instead I get loads of trash. The creators of this game are talentless bums and should be fired.
@Shirtless Kaneki V2 man was i annoyed when I wrote that comment lol. I put down the game, haven't uninstalled it though and plan to return eventually. I just really hate the combat.
@@derekd1997 Berseria was my first Left a good impression Then vesperia was my second great impression Then I played this game and was SO disappointed. I feel bad that this was your first tales game because its definitely one of the worst ones.

How'd you get that outfit for Sorey?
Would you recommend not sanctifying unnamed gear unless you already have everything you want on it? (Specifically the skill you want in first slot?)
+Roltair Yeah I don't sanctify it unless I have it perfectly set up the way I want it or when I know that I'm about to go NG+ and need to carry it with me.
Are nameless weapons, the only weapons that we can use in order to manipulate the first skill slot of any weapon?
+XeroSenpai Yes since nameless weapon is the only one u can fuse with any other weapons. That weapon and armors are cool to get some of that trophies.
the game gives all this information already....what we need to know is how to get a specific skill
Check the comments! People have already given the formula for specific skills which I have already used to create perfect weapons :)

Those 2 weapons are dropped by the 2 bosses in the area shortly after your fight with Symmone.
And thank you, I just want to make sure.
+XeroSenpai oh okay thanks
did you happen to collect the jokes from the optional dungeon and carried those over as well. and leaving the last boss that makes heldalf extremely powerful for new game plus
Swillo, how you get that black outifit for Sorey? Is it DLC or something you find in game?
+Supajayare It's one of the end game sidequests in Lohgrin
Hey Swillo thanks for the great guide! Quick question. I like to play the game on the higher difficulties but the Party AI seems to always die to the simplest things. I've tried getting better equipment and switching titles and different things in the strategy menu but they just don't seem to do well on their own. Do you have any suggestions?
+abrigedon It's not worth playing on higher difficulties unless you plan to basically do everything yourself, or you have strong equipment. That A.I. is just naturally bad in this game
does it matter if you weapon or armor isnt maxed? does it gives something more when its maxed?
Hi swillo. Thx for the guide. There is a formula. It has been posted on the tales of zestiria community on steam under guide section.
Thanks, I'll check it out
i just have one major question...are you recording this through ps4 or a capture card?
+swillo how did you get tempest on your sword cause I can't seem to find anything that will mix or fuse
How are you able to fuse together items that dont have the same name?
Like your unnamed ring with an earth one?
+ubernocrono unnamed equipment can fuse with anything.
Ba que porcaria eu vendi tudo estas armas achei que nao servia para nada que droga , mas se eu virar no novo jogo mais eu consigo elas de volta ? E obrigado por botar legendas em portugues Brasil.
This system is TOO complicated ......ain't nobody got time fo dat!!! Thanks for the video thought very informative. =)
this system is way better then tales of berseria honestly cause here you can fuse together piece, to get a big fuckking badass piece in the end. compared to tales of berseria, the system is like you grind monsters for equipment however, you have no way at all to decide what skills goes where, thanks to zestiria brilliant system (Yesi know it may take 100 of hours assimilating together the correct gear, however. it beats rng any day of the time, something i can do consistent to get a reward out of it than pray on rng i take that any day of the week.
@@thetri-bdojel2220 haha I made such an overpowered, gear that the game got too boring lul. Must fun was unlimited chaining.
im playing hard mode and im around lv10 but severely underpowered. this explains it all, thanks
Swillo are you by any chance Misty Chronexia. You sound the same lol
+Skyden Gaku No, not familiar with them lol.
+Skyden Gaku THANK YOU! I was thinking the same thing :D
Cross kun Right? Lol
Is this a new game plus???
do it do not matter if lv up gears ?
+Francois Vanier What do you mean
Im still confused 😭
I'm trying to make the righteous graver sword for Sorey and I have the two weapons needed to make it but it won't give me the option to do it any ideas?
+William Zagorski no I figured it out I had to fuse them at the shop. I thought I had to sanctify both at a time.
very helpful. thank you
Not only that but I need the good equipement to beat the final boss on the higher difficulties. maaaaannnnn
I didn't know you could overwrite locked skills like that though, so it might be a bit easier than I thought. thanks broooo, time to go cry myself to sleep and try to do a clean up like 6 months from now.
Thanks so much I now understand what to do. since you help me am gonna like and sub on your channel :)
Fuck it, sticking with eith no fusing any gear.
Here because goddamn the equipment fusion thing is complicated as fuck
Thanks man
I don't understand this shit!
This made me put the game down permanently lol
Informative. This is why we go to youtube for "education". :)
So tempescht for the win.
thk
What a garbage system... holy shit.
this sucks very hard....
Informative video, absolutely nonsense system. All I want to get is the platinum trophy.

@Shirtless Kaneki V2 zesteria, ive never played berseria. This is my first tales game and not getting a good first impression
@@derekd1997 Berseria was my first
Left a good impression
Then vesperia was my second great impression
Then I played this game and was SO disappointed.
I feel bad that this was your first tales game because its definitely one of the worst ones.
