Great attention to detail: the Mercy Grenade Machine Gun has a magazine what has bigger indentations for Grenades than it's standard part. This is because the grenades in Mercy are 40mm, while the standard uses 25mm.

Interesting thing about jamming in New Vegas is that all the weapons that you reload one bullet at a time(Cowboy Repeater, Trail Carbine, Brush Gun, Hunting Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, Holorifle) will never be jammed on player's hand, but when NPC uses them, they do get jammed and you actually get to see their jamming animations. I guess it would take *_an additional development time_* that the New Vegas was desperately needed to make those jamming animations in first person, huh?
The fact that they made a game more functional and content deep than fallout 3 in only 18 months with Bethesda's fucked up game engine and with Bethesda on their ass is impressive as all hell. I wish obsidian hadn't been rushed.
@@apassionatenerd.3564 Yeah, while about 80% of game assets were already made by Bethesda. The game was such a buggy mess that beyond any repair. _"But Fallout 3 is buggy as well, and Bethesda had more time to work on their game"_ - True, but never forget that New Vegas is mostly based on Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was made from ashes, while New Vegas was not. The development time issue is not really an understandable excuse. I've got like 1000 hours in NV and I had no idea that was your gun jamming. I thought it was just fun animations like when the bodies explode for no reason. Awesome video
totally agree. Having a weapon jam when you first pull it out or reload it was a minor annoyance. If it would randomly jam mid magazine, it would really stress the importance of keeping those guns clean.
@@broiledbeef5319 I feel that could have been a difficulty related mechanic. Like on the hardest difficulty, your guns can and will jam mid use even if they are at a high condition.
Personally I disagree. Having your weapon jam in the middle of a firefight can up the tension, but can also feel cheap or unfair. At least with this you are often already in or near cover when a jam occurs. Meaning it’s only a setback and not a death trap. I mean I’ve died a couple of times by popping out of cover only to realise that I was too early. (That said with my mods on it only takes a couple of rounds to kill any human.) Although with how rarely my weapons got to that condition I could see an argument to make jams happen during fire.
@@dd11111 Well its like 3 dog said in Fallout 3, if you don't preform proper maintenance on your gun, it'll jam up on you when you don't want it to and you'll get killed.

@@JohnnyCasey actually from what it seems a lot of assets were made by obsidian if you go through and look. It's more of a 50/50 split and that impressive with only one year of dev time. And to be honest, I wasn't very impressed by New Vegas. Yeah, you had very little time to work on your game, but you didn't need that much time to work on at all. They should have just gone for perfecting and polishing the game, rather than go for showing new things, and creating new mechanics. Some people may disagree on this part, but I prefer the game to be in that way.

totally agree. Having a weapon jam when you first pull it out or reload it was a minor annoyance. If it would randomly jam mid magazine, it would really stress the importance of keeping those guns clean.
@@broiledbeef5319
I feel that could have been a difficulty related mechanic.

Well its like 3 dog said in Fallout 3, if you don't preform proper maintenance on your gun, it'll jam up on you when you don't want it to and you'll get killed. If anything, a mechanic like that will teach players to keep their guns in high condition, so they don't jam and get them killed.
