Suffolk in the house!
You never get boring could listen to you for hours. Bless you all
Now we need a face off of Derek vs. Freiburger trying to stump each other with automotive facts.
Derek’s humor & short info vid’s, such as this latest spark plugs one have definitely strengthened my interest in keeping all my auto purchases 100% over at my local O’Reilly’s. The guys working over there, being both cool & helpful kind of seal that deal ~ (just sayin’…)
You are literally the most educational guy on RUclips out of all the "amateur" car guys
I always enjoy learning technical information and proper names for automotive parts from Derek from Vice Grip Garage. Thank you for teaching me so much.
I could listen to this guy talk about anything automotive
Heck, Derek could read the phone book and I’d tune in.
For sure. What's crazy is we'll watch him mow the yard, or watch hours of footage of him driving down the road. His kids are so lucky to have a father that lets em jump right in and help, and wants to pass on his knowledge. Most my upbringing was pointing out the various ways I currently and most likely in the future would screw up.
Heck, now I want to go to O’Reilly. I don’t even need anything. Effective!
Derek should absolutely do a automotive related audio book
Awesome brother!! Cheers!
Enjoy your shows Keep up the great content
Random fact. O’Reillys used to be known as HiLo auto supply down here in Texas. We only had one kind of spark plug when I worked there , cheap. 99 cents each.
Derek has some knowledge thanks for the info
Another neat sparkplug factoid. Copper plugs actually have higher spark energy due to copper's lower resistivity than other conductors used. Cooper's downfall is it erodes faster from firing and that's where the "precious metal" plugs like platinum and iridium shine. But, the "precious metal" plugs require a higher energy ignition system to get the performance out of the plug.
So, if you still have points ignition, you may not be benefiting from those high-end plugs.
Thanks for the info on sparks
When is O'reilly's coming to Canada?
Have to make sure a feller gets the most out of his lightning whirler
funny how the one was arcing at the holder.
That’s some good stuff .
These need to come up on Teamnet instead of the training we do everyday. ;)
What is a good resource to help determine the right spark plug heat range for an antique car ?
I believe “lightning hoses “ is more accurate than “ plug wires “!!
Nice
What about the Challenger behind you?
Gotta love how Ford was always forced to sell their subsidiaries like Autolite, their steel mills, etc. But GM still owns AC Delco

A guy knows sparkalators!
Well. I’ll be dipped. ❤
Ngl, I was hoping he'd teach me how to read em
Oreilly has the highest priced parts in the U.S , I just went to Oreilly yesterday and they wanted to charge me $157.00 for a can of 134 freon and the parts guy told me . Well we have a cheaper can for $80.00 . I walked out
I got one for a guy, I have an LS3 crate motor with 1100 miles on it and have had 4 of 8 sparkalaters go bad, what's up???? If measuring from the end where the plug wire attached to the iridium tip, it measures open. Is the resistor opening up??? This is getting expensive.
So which one is better?
Yeee Yeee !
A/C = Albert champion
I love Vanishing Paint, just sayin...
So who created the first one that drove the first car. Long before American had a car factory.
I'd listen to Derek if he told me how to open a can of noise makers (AKA Beans)
👍👍
It looked like it took effort for you to call it a spark plug 😂
Oofffta
You mispronounced iridium: It's uh-ri-dee-um, not Eye-ri-di-um. Carry on.
Derek saying spark plug just doesn't sound right lol
What a joke that it.fact not enough....................................😮
How hard was it to say spark plug. 😂😂
You forgot to mention why we have Champion spark plugs....it is because Champion invented them, and Durant screwed him over.
Yep, Albert Champion started Champion Spark Plugs before he teamed up with ol' Billy Durant.

North American
a brief or trivial item of news or information.
an assumption or speculation that is reported and repeated so often that it becomes accepted as fact.
One of The smartest guys that tries to pretend he doesn't know what he's doing on a daily basis. But he doesn't have us fellers and fellets fooled.
I grew up in Flint MI. Home of GM. We are taught these things from a early age. Sad that Flint creates more Hoes and Crackheads than vehicles nowadays. It was my parents generation, the boomers. Who thought they could build a great car while getting liquored up and stoned on the assembly line. That's how we ended up with the 79 skylark.
Great video. I got to get one of those sparkalator testers so I can sit and watch the sparks! Love it.
I put ACDelco plugs in my 1941 Harley knuckle when i first built over 20 years ago and still has the same ones in it . Ive run them in all my Harley's for over 40 years
I love these kind of videos
This guy a world of knowledge
Before spark plugs, some engines had a live wire going through the head, the piston would made contact and the spark would form when the piston started to move down the cylinder. I think it was called a long malingering spark.
I never noticed much of a difference between the cheap and expensive plugs. Maybe the high dollar ones last longer idk.
What does the air gap do ? Why can't all cars and trucks have the same air gap? Asking for a not a friend.
A feller acts humble but he is usually the smartest feller in the room, or shop.
Any one else notice the spark loss in the 1st test? You can see it at the base of the porcelin !
Want to go to o'riellys now but there isn't one in my country
You need to see what an MSD box does 😱😱
Who won the truck did I miss it?
BUSY GUY
Cheapest plug i found i guess was AC Delco part number 1 for my SBC 350. They are probably fouled out by now.
Oreillys company slogan
should be “ I’ll be dipped” and they should have a sparkalator isle and a look back dangler isle!!
Interesting. I thought it was spelled 'sparkolator'.
I like seeing the extra spark from the porcelain in the spark plug tester to the steel body.
Great learning video derek can't wait till the next will it run and drive video
You are awesome love any content you make
Thank you Sir..
Good Demo, Derek!
