Broken Chains [Poem]

Hi, I produce music for fun sometimes. Hope you have a great rest of your day!

How am I supposed to heal
when there's generations of pain holding me back
How am I supposed to move forward
when I can't even see the light through the cracks
How am I supposed to stand
when the weight of shame is on my chest
when I'm shackled down
by trauma responses that helped me survive
When I'm encased in a self-made coffin
to avoid letting people in
out of fear of how they could hurt me
but more importantly
to protect them from the monster within me
How? I ask the world
How?

In the echo(e)s of my question
I hear a whisper
Nail-pierced hands reach out
And at a single contact
hand pressed against my prison

into light behind me

That's why I came into the world
to break every chain
to carry every weight
mend broken hearts
to give sight to the blind and hope to the hopeless
