I have my guys put the landing gear down on our trailers (pintles, not goose necks) to eliminate the shock load the truck gets when we are loading full sized skid steers for transport. Its the little things, when you are the guy who pays for repairs, that makes the welds hold and the trucks last.
Yea, you are right. I watched it again after I posted my comment. When he reached in the bed I thought he locked it. He didn't hook the safety chanis up either.
You can plainly see at around 1:58 the neck raises several inches. Always lock the coupler before loading anything. Load should be over axles, and tied down.
Lol like everyone else I saw the gooseneck moving independently from the truck right away. Also use chock blocks and set park brake if you want to keep your park pin in your transmission from breaking with all that jerking around.
sandy s Doesnt work when the tractor picks the rear of the truck off the ground. Had a friend who hauled a ford 3600 or 4000 with a 6ft shredder. Picked the ass of that truck right off the ground and slide forward 10ft even being chocked on the trailers rear tires.
Next time make sure to lock the hitch, chock the tires, and you want the excavator over the axles. Let the trailer take the weight your truck will thank you later...
A DOT officer doesn't care whether the load is centered or not front to back. They only care if you are over weight on a given axle, combination of axles, total plated weight, or too short for the bridge laws. This excavator, at 4200 lbs., is not heavy enough for any of those issues. Further, loading it correctly with the weight over the axles will not reduce traction. A properly placed load will maintain the balance of approx. 25% truck and 75% trailer that a gooseneck should have.
I think it actually lifted the tail of the truck up. Should have blocked the tail of the trailer. Can't comment on where to spot the load but I would have done it with the rear of the excavator even with the trailer front axle to put some weight on the truck.
I just watched the video again. The hitch wasn't locked. When he starts to load the machine look at the hitch. It lifts up off of the ball, he didn't lock it.
Crap I seen that. I did the same thing a long time ago. My friend drove up on his truck and Trailer and I drove a bobcat on the trailer and the hitch came loose out of the bed and ran into the rear glass of the truck. Not a happy day
Jack Cotten did you watch the video he crawled up in the box and locked it I'm telling you he must be doing two things at once he didn't catch that one
Well you didn't go at the video long enough to see if he's strapped it down with jeans to me it looks like needed two people to load it I don't know if that's customary or not I probably could have loaded it myself but I am just an old guy and I'm used to working by myself but please let me know what I missed I seen them lock to Hitch I see no stand on the ramp so it was easier for him to crawl up there and he spread the load between the truck and the trailer like you should have so I guess I missed it so please get back to me or than what I missed
Easier to keep the arm forward to stop the rock before it starts. Creep forward and let the small rock have the bucket hit against the trailer and move forwards a hair to get out of the rocking area. Less violent and scary. Also my dumbass would position wrong and have the thing turn on the trailer and drive right off.
Yaaa,ok guy,,new everything right up until the part where You pull out onto the road & either destroy $100,000.00 worth of equipment or the very least some very costly repairs,,,I hope the bank you got the loan from, made you get extra insurance for your ignorance 😜😜😜😜😜😜
Jesse Shadden I like to back mine on also for the bucket to catch if it rocks down the ramp too much. My tractor I drive forward though depending on which trailer I haul it on.

maybe locking the hitch would be a good idea next time.
Ya I didn't realize until I felt it jump lol
I've done it before too!
brad ziehe I know wright lol that could of turned into a fuck show
either we have....or we will. lol
Yep. At least it was on level ground. Did that on a hill with a bumper pull trailer. Needed a new tailgate and a pair of pants after that one!
Nothing like forgetting to lock the hitch down!!
He locked it right after he put the tail gate up. Check it at about the 40 second mark.
The hitch is not locked on the truck when he is loading the mini.

I can't understand why there's so many thumbs down this is a great educational VIDEO on what not to do.
That's got to be the biggest excavator John Deere makes, just about need a lowboy with over weight permit lol
Pretty accurate since John Deere dosent make any excavators.
The color of the excavator was wrong, he needs the Kubota color.

That’s why you put it in 4 hi if you are loading a 4wd truck, then set the park brake, and put it in park.
i can't tell if I'm more dumb for watching this vid or you for not hooking the trailer up
Is the hitch connected I know the safety chains aren’t
He intentionally disconnected the gooseneck. Why would he do that? And raised the landing gear. Makes no sense to me.

OK OK, we got it 😁😁😁👍👍👍
The trailer ant hooked on the truck
Jack Cotten did you watch the video he crawled up in the box and locked it I'm telling you he must be doing two things at once he didn't catch that one
trailer not connected to truck
O he good just roll with it lol hahaha he will figure it out
Everything.
I've only done that twice...
Those MAGA Ramps are the real mvp!!
Load needs to be centered over axles
of all the years I pulled trailer never forgot to lock the trailer to the truck
Aside from not locking down the goose neck , sticking that bucket out and bouncing it off the deck ........uggggg.
Hook the trailer up
I like how everybody is whining about the weight over the axle not loaded right not this not that probably less than 5,000 fucking pound
Where do you want to start
I would of backed it on so if I rocked backwards I could catch my self with either the bucket or blade.
never load backwards bucket needs to always be up the slope no matter the size of machine.

Didn't confirm hitch was locked and also sucked at wight distribution!
uhhh also, who puts a gooseneck hitch on a 1/2 ton Toyota? The trailer alone is probably more than the towing capacity.
Rob Shaw that’s a f350 short dick
Gooseneck coupler is not secured.
That is not a smart move.
Lock the hitch smart one😔
No safty chains
Probably lost his trailer and the load
Obvious...He used a Ford...

I would of crawled that puppy up over the side n not messed with the ramps
Phone
Plus, always load them backwards for many reasons. Even these small residential size ones
Jesse Shadden that's so wrong lol. You obviously are talking out your ass.

The cringe levels
