Another Toyota that looks like two different design teams did the front and rear. First was the AE95 Corolla Full Time 4wd Wagon. Second was the FJ Cruiser and third, the Fortuner.
@@allenjones5525 The Toyota C-HR takes the cake though. A vehicle designed for young families, but the rear door handles are up at the roof, where kids can't reach them and open the door.
Thanks for the interesting review. +1 to Toyota for the simple digital clock on the dashboard. Bonus half-point for the CD player. -5 points for no Android Auto/ACP
I like this odd windswept look of these. Good review. I wish the 3rd row seats were a option on all these 4x4's. I had a 3rd row seat Landcruiser and it was a pain in the >>>> never used, never wanted. Have to re-register the car and lots of BS to remove the unwanted seats.
Hilux reliability ? Not sure that's such a good thing Would be nice to see you test more mid spec cars, you know, the one the majority of us would actually buy Regardless , nicely done review
Point taken though it is often hard to get mid spec - the manufacturers tend to order the top shelf ones, and besides, I suppose that lets us show you all the possibilities rather than pointing at blank switches.
I think updated Hilux with 150kW engine and Andorid Auto will be in showroom this month but it doesn't come with 150kW Fortuner? How? That will be disappointed
The new Fortuner should be in Australian showrooms by October this year. It’s currently for sale in the Thai/SEA market with top spec being the “Legender”. Updated engines etc.
I wish they did the Fortuner with 6 speed manual transmission. That is the reason I have had to buy Toyota Hilux and keep things in plastic boxes in the tray.
People ought to really review the AEB sold in Australia. I am finding that this is only in theory. There are significant shortcomings of a camera based AEB and the manual has more limitations when the aeb does not work than when it does. The AEB in Ranger, Mazda and Everest appears to be better quality than Mitsubishi Triton. I am not sure if they use a combo of radar and camera but Subaru, Triton and a few others use cheaper camera option which fails most of the time and unless you are dumb should never rely on them.
Hey tom baker I just want to know which has more premium dashboard and feels more expensive between BMW X1 or 8V Audi A3 sedan. I know they are both in different segments but still if you can tell I will really appreciate it .
I have the current shape but 4 years old and live in Thailand. Have hammered it and the roads here are total rubbish. 200000km and has not skipped a beat with regular servicing @ 5000thb ($250.00 AUD). I will be buying the new shape after I have done 500 000km in 3 years. They are more expensive in Thailand than Australia and they are made up the road where I live.
No reach adjustable steering wheel? I thought Hilux had it (albeit virtually useless anyway). Toyota never seemed to do a great effort with gearbox tuning, looks like nothing has changed! Can't wait for Hyundai/Kia to blow Toyota off the charts.
Nice review as always - good to have a wagon version of Hilux the 'unbreakable'
Great review, I have had my fortuner for 3 years and I love it, you can’t go wrong with a Toyota
*Nice review this SUV is one of car in best selling list in Asia !* 👍
Car INTERIOR ...but not as good as the Pajero sport.
I wish you tried the third raw seats.
Best review of the Toyota Fortuna so far! 👏🏼

Have to agree with your observation

Toyota might not have the comfort but it sure has the reliability
Fantastic review
Thanks Leon!
Are you going to do a solo review of the new look fortuner gxl? Cheers

2:43 Steering column is both in reach and height adjustable which you didn't try testing it out.
The reach adjust was so stiff as to be unusable on this vehicle, then. It didn’t function properly.

I reckon the Fortuner will be upgraded shortly after!
The new Fortuner should be in Australian showrooms by October this year. It’s currently for sale in the Thai/SEA market with top spec being the “Legender”. Updated engines etc.
There will also be a 150kw 2.8 GD-6 version of the Fortuner just like the Hilux.
Wish to here the details of the tech. Shortage of safety list at that price point.
I wish they did the Fortuner with 6 speed manual transmission.
That is the reason I have had to buy Toyota Hilux and keep things in plastic boxes in the tray.
Want a suv with good towing capacity(>2000kg braked trailer ), this might be the best?

I like your video .... It's was fantastic
Would prefer it in a five seat configuration.
I reckon you could can the third row seats pretty easily.
Chasing Cars I think then you have to re register it as a five seater.
where do u go for these dirt road shoots
Can the middle row seats slide front and back?
You don't try the third row. I want to know the space of the third row.
Good for kids. Not good for adults.
I want to see how it looks like
But it doesn't look comfortable in the third row for long distances
Can't wait for the new one
Isn't it same as the previous model??
My favorite choose
Didn't know Ed Sheeran makes car reviews now

Skids brah.
It ova price look at the renlat daster
Typical Toyota, not plushy but very dependable

fortuner costa $ 145,468.84 here in Nepal.
I think that price has already increased. And we don't have much choices only automatic and manual option.
I love your scruffy look.
crusade model is $70 k drive away
Amazing car but its interior I can feel in a 1980s car

Agreed, they are way too complacent.
You need to understand/appreciate engineering more
Soccer Mum shopping trolley. Good independent rear end tho.. oh, hang on..
Review m2
Soon
How the fuck are these cheaper than the hilux? Oh Toyota fans how fooled you are.
That's appalling performance for a turbo diesel. Soooo old.
and you're soooo smart and cool xox
This thing is awfully outdated.
Those annoying back seats are ugly though...
