When it comes to japanese ppv/utes, you really don't have to pay the toyota tax to ensure you can use your car for 20+ years. New facelift, tall and specious interior which gives you a proper 4x4 feeling unlike Pajero Sports feel like you are in a suzuki swift
Not really, fortuner is just overpriced and the top model could kill it specially the cheaper Patrol version which is not available in Australia unfortunately
Should have mention the ability to drive in 4H on sealed roads as it's a huge advantage, like driving an all wheel drive. Especially on wet roads. But a great review very balanced and easy to watch.
Many thnx, this is a good video however i wish you have included a towing comparison - it would be very valuable to know towing performance and car handling when loaded.
Nice comparison review.👌🏻 Definitely the Pajero sport wins here in all aspect.🤩 I thought the ride comfort of the facelifted Fortuner improved already after Toyota installed a better torsion beam. Or maybe it was installed on the Legender variant only. Hope you can check on this. Thanks. Stay safe.👍🏻

Reading the comments, it looks like 90% would take the Mitsubishi. I would take the Toyota even though $10,000 more expecting to be able to keep 10 years and end up with less repair bills and depreciation than the Mitsubishi.
I own a 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the newest model I think is nicer cause it offers all new features that the 2017 model don't have and in indonesia pajero sport don't have a power rear door even the newest one that Australia has
It's interesting to see that the creature comfort lists in these ute-based SUVs hasn't changed much from a decade ago. It's mostly connectivity and active safety that has but even then, we own an R51 Nissan Pathfinder that has most of the list from both of these covered in terms of its feature set and beats them both in terms of packaging. I watched another review of the MU-X top specification as I had a keen interest in upgrading to one when we eventually want to upgrade but I was amazed that even a 2020 brand spanker that costs $60k on the road didn't have electric and heated front seats, dual zone climate, sunroof, etc and the usable space with all 7 seats in place was abysmal compared to the Pathfinder. I'm guessing with the Isuzu though you're paying more for the reliability of its drivetrain for which the reputation of the Nissan at the time was....not favourable, to put it lightly. I do eagerly await the new MU-X though because the new D-Max looks to be a great platform for it. Hopefully Mazda introduces their own version of it based on the BT-50 but I doubt they will.
SICEM_Rex Mazda is indeed basing the new BT50 on the Isuzu. Pity they aren't going to make a wagon version of it though, something that would compete directly with the Everest

Shocked how you say that the Toyota corners better when here in the Philippines, the Montero Sport does that better. Maybe it has something to do about the suspension tuning. Good review tho!
Yeah, the updated Fortuner is still arriving here later this September. It's the best seller in our market due to being a bit more affordable than the Montero Sport here(yes, it's the opposite here in our country) but all local automotive journalists also point to the Mitsubishi as the better option always. How I wish our local version also had a cheaper pricetag than the Fortuner 😂

Toyota person here, but just cannot stand the Fortuner. Just not a fan. But for the first time ever, when looking for a car we also looked outside Toyota (needed 6 seats due to a new addition, and no way in hell did I want a people mover). Narrowed down to an MY14 Prado, 2018ish Pajero Sport, new Pathfinder, or a 2018-19 MU-X. Though they were all good, just the Prado and Pathfinder have cool 3rd-row additions, Prado can open the rear door from the inside, none of the others allows that, great when the 2nd row is all car seats, and the pathfinder allows 3rd-row access without folding the seat. Prado only won, because an MY14 Kakadu popped up at a price that I couldn't refuse. But if that hadn't happened, I do think the MU-X would have won, just felt as nice as the Toyota.
Among the highly regarded prado designs, the most failed design is the seven-seat design. When people use off-road vehicles, enough space is the most important thing. Because we always need to carry enough equipment, there is absolutely no need to carry more people, so a five-seater design is sufficient. With the current seven-seater design, the third row of seats occupies a lot of space. However, this very annoying and completely useless third-row seat cannot be removed. In the past few years, I replaced two off-road vehicles. They are all seven-seater designs that I hate very much. I have never opened the third row of seats in ten years. This thing is useless.
Always Mitsubishii Cars. I love Mitsubishi Cars! I used to own a Lancer, that was a dang! I am really looking for a Sedan/Hatchback from Mitsubishi in India.
I have the Cedia (2008) and the Pajero Sport (2018). Both the vehicles have never let me down in the worst of driving conditions. Sadly, the Cedia is getting a lot of attention from the police in Delhi due to the new NGT norms. Ergo, I shall have to part with it. I guess this car is the cleanest piece kept as stock in the country!

I own 2021 GLS PS with only 23000Kms. Sure great value, nice to drive - add a throttle controller, fully transforms the vehicle, awesome response! (I also own 2019 GLS Triton, love it). BUT I wish I waited for 2022 MUX! I traded a 2014 MUX for the Pajero, MUX started to feel like an old tractor compared to PS. I just dont like the rear seat setup in PS. We have 4 kids so use 3rd row seats all the time, they are fine to sit in but if you have child seats in middle row - attaching to the roof is not as good as MUX attaching to the rear of second row plus seat belt setup in the middle of the 2nd row is $hithouse - you have a buckle up your but! If Mitsubishi sorted this out it would be great! TOYOTA TAX - not for me...Plus the 4WD System is superior having AWD option in wet weather conditions...ISUZU just as reliable but maybe not as refined. Looking at trading PS for LST MUX. Any offers...haha
Thank you very much for this comparison, even though I find it unfair to compare 2.8 diesel engine of Fortuner versus 2.4 for the Mitsubishi Pajero. Thanks

I have a 2016 Fortuner after getting stung by a lemon-flavoured Everest. The Pajero is great value for money, but what about after market 4x4 upgrades for offroad touring?
Mitsubishi should start selling the Pajero Sport over here in India. It will be a tough competition for Toyota Fortuner as I can see in this video that Pajero is far more better then Fortuner.
Keen to see how these cars would compare towing a 3T caravan, 4wd when towing on road is a positive and how the rear coils handle the 10% recommended ball weight would be interesting
Love our pajero sport - definitely miss the volume knob though! 😂.. Such a minor thing but it's really annoying lol. A big reason I went PS was the super select for towing. You can instantly feel an increase in traction, and just feels much safer.

@@amrashraf9559 never buy a Kia. That simple a
Great review, I am looking at both vehicles as well as the Isuzu MUX. I think this review may have just swayed me towards the Pajero, the $10 -15K price difference is a big factor + now you get 10 years warranty!
Have to say that this is one of the best car reviews I have seen in a long time. So much information about each car and comparisons between previous models as well. Very well done. Keep up the awesome work!
He left out how the Pajero has a better handbrake
Pajero is the one to go for value for money electronic hand break looks more upgraded than toyota still cheaper 10 k .
electronic hand brake? nah, i'd prefer manual handbrake, just what like scotty says..
Finally someone mentioned it
One of the most notable key features
@@amorsolo8242you must be old
I own the previous Pajero sport. Very happy with it. Here in SA, every Tom, dick and harry has a fortuner. I just wanted to be different.
It’s a good thing!
I agree. 2019 PS.
I totally agree. Most of my business associates are driving Fortuners and Im sick of it already. lol
It's same everywhere in india I'm fed up of watching fortuner it's like every second suv is Fortuner
Waiting for *Pallisade* and *Telluride* launch in india
I'm from Colombia. I like Pajero more.
You appear to have forgotten one more safety feature of the PS... 4Hi can be used on tarmac for AWD safety.
Pajero Sport despite ungainly styling wins clearly in this comparison - I do prefer the Everest to either if money no object
Thanks for supporting us respected sir.
.But sir its with only a 2.0 engine which is underpowered compared to the 3.2 litre engine. Maybe 2021 -22 Everest can change things
When it comes to japanese ppv/utes, you really don't have to pay the toyota tax to ensure you can use your car for 20+ years. Pick whichever among toyota/mitsubishi/isuzu offers the best package for the price, and make sure you religiously follow the maintenance intervals. That said, we got the pajero sport since it's comfortable and is incredibly more bang for buck when we got it in 2016.
Thanks mate. Great review. Clear, concise and to the point. I'm going out this morning to order the Pajero.
Thanks Robert.
Fortuner is much improved and a worthy choice for many... however, my Pajero Sport Exceed arrives in just two more weeks. I can't wait.
Great review and agree with you ,, Pajero Sport is excellent value and equally capable off road as Fortuna ,, Pajero Sport is the best buy
You have put together a very interesting review, thanks. I would go for the Pajero Sport.
Pajero sport all the way! I had two of them and they handle better than any other comparable SUV!
Good luck with the resell price
hehe
Rather take the fortuner for reliability
@@Ford-Explorer606 I'm not sure if it is available in your country but the Fortuner still have the V6 petrol option of 1GR-FE engine from 2003 that is still in use, better than 2GR-FE and Land Cruiser has this option too
@@CarRevvedGaming we don't have fortuner in our country 😢
Instead we have ra4 and 4 runner and the land cruiser here and all of these vehicles have a v6 petrol engine. I myself own a 4 runner 2015 v6
Toyota is the best ever when it comes to toughness off the road and city driving realability aftersales
Has he mentioned that the PS has variable valve timing (MIVEC) while the Fort has none?
I told you, Toyota is so good at being reliable but mediocre.
I was expecting Ed to promote his new album atleast, but no luck... Anyway, good review, staright to the point, video is also stable and not causing concusion to the head. Power.
I wish Mitsubishi redesigned the rear of the Sport- looks odd that elongated shape and narrow...another 60mm width will fix this issue.
the spoiler fixes it too
lately its a mitsubishi thing i dunno why, they design weird rears..
Beautiful face with an ugly ass
I agree on the ugly ass... but the spoiler helps a lot! It is a shame that Tom did not picked up a Montero/Pajero with spoiler.
And also put some cladding or something on the wheel arches. Its so bland looking.
Value for Money is the Pajero which almost equals the Fortuner in all aspects especially the ride quality
I got Pajero sports black edition with white body in January this year ,I was looking at fortuner but for me the back seat fold down was the difference.
How's it been after a year? Looking at the new 2022 GSR model.
Pajero Sport for me.
Great review
After doing two months of research I decided to buy Pajero Sports. Last week when I tried test drive, I was extremely disappointed with how small and narrow it was for my height I am 6'2. Then headed to Toyota to see the new Fortuner with little hope but within a minute I was sold. New facelift, tall and specious interior which gives you a proper 4x4 feeling unlike Pajero Sports feel like you are in a suzuki swift
Sam agreed. The cabin is quite cramped in the Pajero
Mitsubishi has nailed it
Not really, fortuner is just overpriced and the top model could kill it specially the cheaper Patrol version which is not available in Australia unfortunately
Pajero is looking much better then fortuner I loved it love From India❤️❤️❤️
Pajero sport dude.... Always will be. Excellent review buddy!
Should have mention the ability to drive in 4H on sealed roads as it's a huge advantage, like driving an all wheel drive. Especially on wet roads. But a great review very balanced and easy to watch.
Many thnx, this is a good video however i wish you have included a towing comparison - it would be very valuable to know
towing performance and car handling when loaded.
Got my 2020 pajero sport in 3 months, i would say it is bloody good!!
Nice comparison review.👌🏻
Definitely the Pajero sport wins here in all aspect.🤩
I thought the ride comfort of the facelifted Fortuner improved already after Toyota installed a better torsion beam. Or maybe it was installed on the Legender variant only.
Hope you can check on this. Thanks. Stay safe.👍🏻
Pajero is nowhere as good offroad as the fortuner.
@@flyguy9404 Not sure how you arrive at that conclusion... most actual reviews off road have them pretty close. The PS offers better of road modes and electronic supports... the Fortuner better base capability with slightly better clearance, approach and departure angles. The Fortuner may be better overall but from all the reviews I have seen, it is fairly close.
@@flyguy9404hey toyota guy, just wanted to tell you that the Pajero Sport is way comfortable. Its totally family friendly. Never failed us. Can you imagine??? Pajero Sport helping a stuck Land Rover Defender? No way right?? 😅
The 10 year warranty that Mitsubishi offers will just topple any competitors.
Although I generally like Toyota, but I will go with Pajero.
Same
I drove both before choosing the Toyota. . I just liked the way it drove. . Now I've decked it out with a heap of mods the Love story is complete. . Awesome off road. . When you put her in 4WD she changes into a super strong mud chomping beastie ! !
Gracias.
The both cars are the best sale in Indonesia. And thank for your complete review especially for sitting the third row. I hope the next review for car with 7 seats you try it the third rows.
Great review mate . We test drove the Pajero sport gsr model think we will get it . I didn’t even go to Toyota can’t afford one !
I like the specific on the Mitsubishi Pajero sport as I has a 96 model Mitsubishi all the was
Always Pajero sports for me 🙏
Nice watch. 👍 Oh and I like the windswept look of the Fortuner. But not the 7 seats, I really wish they'd make 7/8 seats an option on all these.
Reading the comments, it looks like 90% would take the Mitsubishi.
I would take the Toyota even though $10,000 more expecting to be able to keep 10 years and end up with less repair bills and depreciation than the Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi Pajero 👍
I own a 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the newest model I think is nicer cause it offers all new features that the 2017 model don't have and in indonesia pajero sport don't have a power rear door even the newest one that Australia has
I didn't know Ed Sheeran reviewed cars. Splendid job!
Now you know
It's interesting to see that the creature comfort lists in these ute-based SUVs hasn't changed much from a decade ago.
Pajero d best of space inside, comfortable
The Mitsubishi rear is hard to get pass... Had to look elsewhere.
Hope the fix it. The vehicle deserves better
Hi Tom, love your reviews.
Well presented, professional.
Pat.
Pajero Sport! No doubt!
It's like you never watched the video
Perjuna my choice well finished and better looking car. I’ve had two through 5 year’s each and never had a. mechanical problem with either car. A through reliable car.
Shocked how you say that the Toyota corners better when here in the Philippines, the Montero Sport does that better. Maybe it has something to do about the suspension tuning. Good review tho!
Yeah, probably down to a bit of local calibration of the suspension and possibly some revisions to the facelifted Fortuner too.
PH spec fortuner has 4link rear end vs 5link in australia :/
yeah proud owner of montero sport 2016 model...2.4 mevic kick his ass...from 2016 to 2020 fortuner make 3 engine d4d 3.0...2.8 and 2.5 to match the power of mevic...
I have a pajero sport 10 years old and it's a better vehicle than my friends fortuner of the same year, more comfy, and the ride is smoother.l never liked the earlier models
Its taken years but now l feel you can trust the running gear more and the reliability.👍
I like mitsubishi pajero sport
Clearly is the winner of the comment section
Mitsubishi Pagero is the real deal.
PAJERO SPORT ALL THE WAY!!!
This thing is useless.
l like the side folding seats as they give so much more depth, and they can be unbolted and removed if need be.
we had the right choice... montero sport gls 😁
For me i ll go for Mitsubishi pajero
Love my Pajero!!!
Can I expect a new Hilux vs new D-MAX video? That will be an amazing comparison.
Good review. Very helpful. I like your cap. Go Wahoos!
I bought the pj sport deluxe. With the $ saved I'm buying a new outboard. Still have my 2007 paj vrx diesel. No brainer.
Sheeran, what are you doing in Australia?
As an American, it’s so weird to see stuff like this. It’s like a Highlander/4Runner for the non-USA
Pajero Sport is the best 🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝
Good review, pajero sport for me. Prefer interior finishes, and the drop down seats in 3rd row.
Pajero sport interior is so nice
I hope i could have one in the future...
I too
Of course, it’s Montero Sports for me.
We have fortuner and montero both love those car very reliable.
So when it’s gonna available in Australia than coz all i see is 2020 pajero sport??
Thank you very much for this comparison, even though I find it unfair to compare 2.8 diesel engine of Fortuner versus 2.4 for the Mitsubishi Pajero. Thanks
Hey mate, are you able to do a comparison vid on the new fortuner and the MU-X?
Great review but I missed cost to own comparison. If Fortuner sells for more as a used car proportionally to its purchase price then it will offset the 10k advantage Pajero has.
Cannot challenge mitsubishi pajero the king of champion very very very good in driving performance handling and comfort as the world champion guinness world boook record
I have a 2016 Fortuner after getting stung by a lemon-flavoured Everest. The Pajero is great value for money, but what about after market 4x4 upgrades for offroad touring?
Don't like large SUVs but would choose the Mitsi.
Knobs, manuals and non-electronic handbrakes are things of the past
We want "soft life"
Good comparison thanks
