The long wheel base of this car caught my eye on a mountain highway a couple of days ago. Nice marriage of classic luxury and modern design. Good review.
My dad went and got the 2011 Jaguar XJ last week at our local Jaguar dealer ! This car was so much better than his 2009 BMW 750i ... It is very spacious and luxurious ! I would highly recommend this car to anyone !
Ross is my favorite when it comes to getting me to understand a car. His personality is all business but grounded to the real world. If he ever said plainly "this is the car you should buy" I'd buy it :)
Jaguar's change is ONE of the best a car manufacturer has ever done. They (almost) didn't lose any clients and only gained some. The reason is clearly visible. Greetings
great jag! love the design, the interior is spectacular, the performance keeps up with a sports car, if i had the money i will defenitly going to buy it! great video guys! ;)
Jaguar is perfect. The Jaguar XJL there is a total power machine. It's freakin got a bad ass, it's got a mean machine, and it's got he revs of the reverund. Thanks be to God.
This guy should really get into the features that these cars have. The Jag has a shifter that rises from the center console and the LCD display on the dash has disappearing numbers on the tach....while these things aren't that important, many who can afford these cars appreciate attention to detail. Also, I would like to add that this car looks even more stunning in person.

When they filmed this the only A8 you could buy was the A8 4.2 packing 372hp. So he is right, the S8 isn't even here yet and the W12 was just recently made available.
Ross, if you go to the Audi website, in the A8 (to me a better package) it has an option of a W12 engine which has 500hp and gets from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds, it also is only 133,000.
i have a supersport and the one thing i didnt like compared to the previous generation is that they muffled the supercharger down a bit so you dont hear that nice whine sound. though the car sounds great. worth the 3.5 months waiting for it from order.
@killpain Im talking about standard motors. Yes the a8 has a 372 hp v8, but alot more cars in its class have much more standard horsepower. Yes audi does have big motors but im just talking standard wise. Alot of audi cars such as the a4/a5 come with a 2.0 engine while mercedes c comes with a 3.0 liter and bmw with a 3.2 liter
me too! I know it's an extremely high quality car with the best equipment in it, but I still have that concern, what if something happens to the screen and I won't be able to switch it on and I'm somewhere in the middle of nowhere?
for what your getting 120 K is peanuts for a 510 hp with all options XJ L super sports base price is approx. 123K. You can get the 385 hp Portfolio for approx 79K new! best deal on the farm!
2:14 Ross, dont you think those side sun shade should be operated with a push of a button? When you spend triple digits you cant be bothered to use your entire arm to lift that thing...
I have an 85 xj6, and was originally a little disappointed to see the bloodline disappear after 50 years of heritage, when the entire car was re invented. however, jaguar did an excellent job on this one. and as he said, the comparable mercedes will never reach that price and the audis and bmw's just dont have the character.
@afterapplepicking It looks very much nicer than any cadillac inside and out, though it is slower im sure that anyone buying this would buy it for its status. Not to mention that theres more to a car than speed.
pros: unpretentious boss. perfect entry level before getting a Rapide cons: cadillac & lincoln have copied jaguar design so much, girls can't tell the difference
"There isn't even an Audi A8 in existence that offers 400 horsepower let alone 5" Actually the Audi A8 L W12 has 500 PS / 493 BHP / 368 KW It may not yet be for sale in the US but it exists and is for sale in Germany.
I think the best competitors for this is the S65, S8 and the M7 which will tackle the Jaguar I guess. The Maserati can't be beat though when it comes to handling and sportivity. Not even by a Jag, or the above mentioned cars. Speaking of which...I didn't see Ross throw and smash this car around on the circuit....why not? Please take a hint from Top Gear.
the front rocks, unmistakably jaguar's signature. very interesting internal layout, and so many clever modern features,... but the tail lights... not digging the tail lights
THIS JAG HAS 4 ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL WHERE EVERYONE CAN BE HOT OR FREEZING,PLUS A/C SEATS,HEATED ALSO WITH MASSAGE. WAY BETTER THAN GERMAN ,COLD NO CLASS LOOKING ,UNLESS THE S 600 FOR 160K.
This car looks nice, but it doesn't have enough features for this price. Jag needs to take a LS460 to their labs to learn a thing or two about what features a car on this price point should have, as well as how intuitive controls should be. It's a nice attempt but I will wait for the second or third year of production.
The review was a bit dry at the beginning, but got a little more interesting near the end. Rob came off more comfortable, and less scripted at the end. Still looking for a little more critique of the car. An emphasis on the downsides are important too.
Wow this is really a nice car, good value for money, luxury, high power and even Jeremy Clakson would fit in the backseat wow what a good looking car the interior and exterior wow. But I have to admit the aston V12 startup/acceleration sound and aston would be missed if I would buy one of these instead but then again its like 80-90k more. Good review even if he isn't as attractive as Jessi lol :P .
I admit, the XJR is a pretty damn good car. Actually, most cars are reliable if kept in the dry most of the times and if they are kept well maintained. My experience. Most reliable cars, I would say, are american and japanese ones, the german cars are very filigrane, they easily have issues with connectors, wirings, sensors. Also my experience.
@MegaBlackberryuser of course an aftermarket manufacturer is gunna boost the hp, for a nice little premium of say, 30 g's over stock. plus try finding a b7 in america...theyre pretty rare. I'm a fan of bmw no doubt but i would prefer the Jag 2:1 any day
this car has the best luxury for price value of any car! one of my current dream cars!

Jag always get it right. No-one can compete.
Ross is my favorite when it comes to getting me to understand a car. His personality is all business but grounded to the real world. If he ever said plainly "this is the car you should buy" I'd buy it :)
omg...this car is beyond gorgeous WOW
I'm impressed. When this car first came out, I wasn't crazy about it. But now it's growing on me. Keep up the amazing work Ross. Your awesome!
I'm not a huge Jaguar fan, but I love this car. There is nothing like the smell of a genuine leather interior.
I loved how he was as calm as possible when he said the power of the car can peel your face off
Jaguar has comeback in a major way. Saw one on the road the other day, that car is sexy.
Jaguar's change is ONE of the best a car manufacturer has ever done.
They (almost) didn't lose any clients and only gained some.

Greetings
great jag! love the design, the interior is spectacular, the performance keeps up with a sports car, if i had the money i will defenitly going to buy it!
great video guys! ;)
that car looks fricken enormous!
I can watch Ross Rapoport all day long... his reviews are so honest/funny/informative
The break with their old style design might shock us as Jag-fans, but it was the absolutely right thing to do.
My god these are freaking beautiful!
More interior next time! Great review by the way
This good
Great review and wonderful car!

Crazy that these cars now go for under 20,000
no, it depends. there are 18 way adjustable seats and you can make them wider...
INCEPTION! is he small or is the car big?
Best review ever...

Rear set is enormous when you are 5'2", it is cozy but adequate for any non Frodo Baggins type.
When they filmed this the only A8 you could buy was the A8 4.2 packing 372hp. So he is right, the S8 isn't even here yet and the W12 was just recently made available.
What a car! It's damn perfect!
Wait back up....how the hell is being an automotive journalist a drag? That's like a dream job
+Rhys Hinkson driving a bunch of super cars you can't own nor lease, its a twisted tease
Maybe it's just me, but I really hope that most car companies keep traditional gauges in their cars, rather than the LCD screens
Evan Waller no way
This did not age well for you did it

Great review. Will pick this over any of it's German friends. Tata Seems to know what they're doing
Love this review!
I like the look of the new Jags.
and if it snows...? you just have traction control and no awd?
awsome review guys.. thumbs up
i have a supersport and the one thing i didnt like compared to the previous generation is that they muffled the supercharger down a bit so you dont hear that nice whine sound. though the car sounds great. worth the 3.5 months waiting for it from order.
The new Jaguar and Land Rover line-up is amazing. i’d say pick any car they’re all better than competition.
Why aren't the rear tables flat?
Ok its 2020 and the price of these have dropped dramatically....
I'm looking at one and I'd like to no if you can do a good old fashion burnout on one
what is he like 5 foot 2?
A beautiful car, cannot compare to the rampant Jaguar of the old XJ's but is still an awesome car.
At 6 foot 4 I'd have to say this is a great sports car for a tall driver

love the car and the review
What does "rampant" mean? I owned two XJ's in the past, a 1994 and a 1997. Nice cars. The 2011 is incredible!
What shoes are u wearing ?
How is visibility out of that car? The beltline seems high
What about the S65 AMG??? I know that has to be roughly in the same class.
me too! I know it's an extremely high quality car with the best equipment in it, but I still have that concern, what if something happens to the screen and I won't be able to switch it on and I'm somewhere in the middle of nowhere?
im gonna get a diesel XJL next year hopefully..
portfolio is the highest spec right?
nice car... it will be a great buy in 3-4 years with a few miles and after new model comes out
But will it blend?
What no daylights?
I like his attire today.
Awesome review
Great review, gotta be tough in Jessie's shadow though!
wow I've seen a few of these cars on the road already, I didn't know that they were that expensive!

Those rims are awesome
I Love this XJ L Super Sport I said thank you.
S8 wasn't out at the time we shot the review. But I think I'd definitely want an S8 over the XJL at this point.
pros: unpretentious boss. perfect entry level before getting a Rapide
cons: cadillac & lincoln have copied jaguar design so much, girls can't tell the difference
Prince Mauhdi III you're nutts bro.truth though
Girls don't know anything about cars

the legroom was ok but it was cutting into my back, not wide enough. im very broad shouldered
great review my friend..
Love the design!
And what about reliability?
great review! :)
There is a 7 series with over 500 horsepower it's called the 2012 alpine b7
How short is he?!!!
Will Top gear review this?
"the power of the car can peel your face off" - then he pulls a poker face.
well trolled Ross, well trolled.
when he said competition at about @1:22 there's a Honda Odyssey that passes behind him :P
the front rocks, unmistakably jaguar's signature. very interesting internal layout, and so many clever modern features,... but the tail lights... not digging the tail lights
i need this car in my life.
My 2006 S-Class has Dual Climate Controll in the back but i would love Cooled and heated seats
THIS JAG HAS 4 ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL WHERE EVERYONE CAN BE HOT OR FREEZING,PLUS A/C SEATS,HEATED ALSO WITH MASSAGE. WAY BETTER THAN GERMAN ,COLD NO CLASS LOOKING ,UNLESS THE S 600 FOR 160K.
is this guy short or is that car huge ?
great video
This is my dream
where is jessi ?!
i love this car!!! its freaking amazing!! :D
this car looks best in short wheel-base and black

Can't tell if it's just a really big car... or a really tiny man. |:
😂😂😂😂🐁🐈
:))) i think it's a bonus, it's both:))
Love Ross! He is a total stud machine..and if he came with this car..I would buy it in a NY minute baby! =)
@tomandnata If you really owned them then you should know what a rampant jaguar sign on the Jaguar bonnet is.
The review was a bit dry at the beginning, but got a little more interesting near the end. Rob came off more comfortable, and less scripted at the end. Still looking for a little more critique of the car. An emphasis on the downsides are important too.
DOORS ARE HUGE!

My cousin just got one, awesome

The S550 beats XJL on every level. I owned the s550 and now I have an XJl
You need to watch Top Gear Season 16, Episode 7. Jeremy Clarkson is 6'5" and fits just fine.
Your point?
