The long wheel base of this car caught my eye on a mountain highway a couple of days ago. Nice marriage of classic luxury and modern design. Good review.

My dad went and got the 2011 Jaguar XJ last week at our local Jaguar dealer ! This car was so much better than his 2009 BMW 750i ... It is very spacious and luxurious ! I would highly recommend this car to anyone !

Ross is my favorite when it comes to getting me to understand a car. His personality is all business but grounded to the real world. If he ever said plainly "this is the car you should buy" I'd buy it :)

Jaguar's change is ONE of the best a car manufacturer has ever done.
They (almost) didn't lose any clients and only gained some.
    The reason is clearly visible.
    Greetings

This guy should really get into the features that these cars have. The Jag has a shifter that rises from the center console and the LCD display on the dash has disappearing numbers on the tach....while these things aren't that important, many who can afford these cars appreciate attention to detail. Also, I would like to add that this car looks even more stunning in person.

When they filmed this the only A8 you could buy was the A8 4.2 packing 372hp. So he is right, the S8 isn't even here yet and the W12 was just recently made available.

Ross, if you go to the Audi website, in the A8 (to me a better package) it has an option of a W12 engine which has 500hp and gets from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds, it also is only 133,000.

i have a supersport and the one thing i didnt like compared to the previous generation is that they muffled the supercharger down a bit so you dont hear that nice whine sound. though the car sounds great. worth the 3.5 months waiting for it from order.

@killpain Im talking about standard motors. Yes the a8 has a 372 hp v8, but alot more cars in its class have much more standard horsepower. Yes audi does have big motors but im just talking standard wise. Alot of audi cars such as the a4/a5 come with a 2.0 engine while mercedes c comes with a 3.0 liter and bmw with a 3.2 liter

I have an 85 xj6, and was originally a little disappointed to see the bloodline disappear after 50 years of heritage, when the entire car was re invented. however, jaguar did an excellent job on this one. and as he said, the comparable mercedes will never reach that price and the audis and bmw's just dont have the character.

@afterapplepicking It looks very much nicer than any cadillac inside and out, though it is slower im sure that anyone buying this would buy it for its status. Not to mention that theres more to a car than speed.

"There isn't even an Audi A8 in existence that offers 400 horsepower let alone 5"
    Actually the Audi A8 L W12 has 500 PS / 493 BHP / 368 KW
It may not yet be for sale in the US but it exists and is for sale in Germany.

I think the best competitors for this is the S65, S8 and the M7 which will tackle the Jaguar I guess.
The Maserati can't be beat though when it comes to handling and sportivity. Not even by a Jag, or the above mentioned cars.
Speaking of which...I didn't see Ross throw and smash this car around on the circuit....why not? Please take a hint from Top Gear.

This car looks nice, but it doesn't have enough features for this price. Jag needs to take a LS460 to their labs to learn a thing or two about what features a car on this price point should have, as well as how intuitive controls should be. It's a nice attempt but I will wait for the second or third year of production.

Wow this is really a nice car, good value for money, luxury, high power and even Jeremy Clakson would fit in the backseat wow what a good looking car the interior and exterior wow. But I have to admit the aston V12 startup/acceleration sound and aston would be missed if I would buy one of these instead but then again its like 80-90k more. Good review even if he isn't as attractive as Jessi lol :P .

I admit, the XJR is a pretty damn good car. Actually, most cars are reliable if kept in the dry most of the times and if they are kept well maintained. My experience. Most reliable cars, I would say, are american and japanese ones, the german cars are very filigrane, they easily have issues with connectors, wirings, sensors. Also my experience.
