    I have a 2012 XJ Diesel 92,000 miles (149,000kms). Its in immaculate condition. Not a single scratch, absolutely zero wear, leather like brand new, dashboard like new, smells like its brand new, you would think it came out of the factory last week. Never had any reliability issues with her at all. Full and very detailed service history. Everything done on time, including all wheel alignments and balancing. Never broke down, never had any engine check lights pop up or any warning lights at all.

      There used to be a common saying, here in Germany, during the old Jaguar times, "if you are wealthy, you ride a Mercedes, if you are rich, you own a Jaguar." But to be fair, this was related to the unreliability of these cars in the 1970s under British Leyland. But this has changed completely since the years under the wings of Ford. They tidied up the company and helped Jaguar to survive and to overcome all the problems they had when not enough money was around to produce on a par with Mercedes who for a long time had been the Jaguar Managements goal. Today's Jags are as reliable as any other make of luxury cars. And by the way, I remember that a bulb replacement on an 2007 E-Class cost about 800 Euro, just the part (work additional) at the Mercedes dealership, because the bulb couldn't be changed. The whole front light had to be changed because the whole thing was sealed and glued so that opening would have destroyed the complete thing. Seems all makers of luxury cars a ripping off their customers.

      @@XJLuxury Ah! That answers a lot of questions! As you can see, I've been saying all the way down that it's been accident damaged and this has EVERYTHING to so with the majority of things that are broken. In a shunt there are tonnes of force involved, and for me it was clear from the start that a lot of the parts (if not all of them) have been broken because they are very weak.
      I CAN ASSURE YOU that these things do NOT usually break on a Jag, it was obvious to me straight away that this has been in a shunt and that shunt has weakened and loosened a lot of parts on the car. This would happen with pretty much any car in an accident, I guarantee you that all those things are due to the accident. Confirmed to me that it was a salvage as soon as I saw that broken window, it's not a factory flaw.

    Don't think you should expect much on a wrecked title- reject auto. Certainly not blame all the faults on Jaguar. A serious collision with a major torsion load on the structure beyond its limits could cause a number of those structural-related faults. Look at the panel fit on the front here, and that would be suspect. I've never seen a Jaguar with less than 100k miles that has the driver's seat in such a pathetic unclean condition.The mileage could be fake. I bought my 2011 xjl because of the excellent reliability I had with my 2000XJ8. I haven't had any of the faults cited here (and normally the first year production has the poorest reliability).

    • @XJLuxury
      @XJLuxury  4 года назад

      The damage to the front was from a minor collision which has nothing to do with the seat condition. The mileage was not faked. Mileage was confirmed to be real from multiple service records. Cars wear different based on who uses them. The accident has nothing to do with most of the issues of my car.

    • @-A-lm5xb
      @-A-lm5xb Год назад

      @@XJLuxury Hope you saw my post above, all those things are broken due to an impact accident. A car like this of this value wouldn't be a write-off for a minor collision. Those loose and broken parts are directly due to a very heavy shunt, as is the damaged rear window. There has probably been some twisting of the body, which is when rigid plastic parts on any car start to loosen and crack.

    One of the most enduring gifts from Ford was the increased reliability with these XJ's. I owned one from the previous generation (2009 Vanden Plas), and it was silky, efficient, and had a great V8 note. But, what Ford ameliorated in reliability, they robbed in quality. The entire car is cheaply constructed-- from the frame, to the interior pieces, to the part quality. It really is a shame, because when you line this thing up next to an S-Class, a 7-Series, an LS, and an A8 of the same year... the Jag is spectacularly handsome in comparison. The other cars will have leathers that hold up better, interiors that don't rattle, and electronics that will work better over the lifespan of the car.

    One thing that should be understood and, like you, I think many who buy Jaguars understand, but they are absolute masters at initial quality. What I mean is this. They understand their market so well. Most who buy Jags brand new are fairly wealthy and as such are either those that always lease or depreciation eaters (those that like throwing away money on depreciation by buying new vehicles and then selling, also around the same time a lease would run out. So, like other luxury brands, these vehicle are fantastic at initial quality = the first 4 years, roughly. Then the rest of the time is a crapshoot really. I don't know how they manage to balance cost by using materials that last specifically for initial quality, but they all do it.
    There are a lot of folks, however, who don't understand this. This is the number 1 reason why nearly every used jag as the most owners of any vehicles I have ever seen consistently. These cars are not for those people. Who they are for though are those of us who appreciate the styling the quirks, inconsistent material quality, but most importantly the stance and driving experience. Those who'd not really ever buy these from dealers, but instead opt for the adventure of an auction buy. While not always true, everything adapts to the bell curve after all, I'd never recommend a jag to anyone if it is going to be their only car AND if they would be paying someone to work on it themselves. I have 2 (as of this weekend, actually). I have had an X-Type and just recently procured a 2011 XJL Supercharged 5.0 from Copart for $900. It will be a little of a project, but not terrible and I can do all of the work myself. I plan on buying one that is for parts only/crash damaged that I can probably get for pretty cheap and then use it as a donor for the one I just recently bought.

    Hey I have a 2015 F-Type R and the mirror fell off when I tried to fix it the windshield cracked I had it replaced by safelite auto glass they came to my house they had to order it from Jaguar cost me about 500.00. And just a side note if your going to replace your water pump don't forget there's a plastic piece that's behind the water pump, also you may as well replace the front coolant y-pipe and the rear coolant cross over pipe there both made of a two piece plastic pipe that's been welded together they always start to leak at the seams and where it mounts, also there's a plastic coupler in the supercharger snout that will break I heard there's better after market part for that one. All of these things I mentioned are for either the v6 or v8 supercharged engines, my car I bought used with 23000 mi about 5yrs ago it now has 32000 so I haven't had any problems so far but I'm preparing for the inevitable haha, I figure if I gotta go in and fix one thing may as well fix em all at once. As to condition, my matches the 2022 100% as new. Like I said TLC will bring your car to condition that you want. Don't complaint, just fix it. That's why you shouldn't buy a car that's been an accident. He failed to mention that, he was just so happy to get the car for half of the regular price, with only 60,000 miles. Some of the stuff were minor issues, but I understand how he wants everything original, because I'm the same way. I was taught to NEVER BUY A CAR THAT'S BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT! Try not to buy a car over 100,000 miles. A lot of foreign cars can last over 100k, but always check the car fax regardless. Try to buy from a dealership. If the previous owner couldn't take care of the exterior, just think about the interior is going to be. Just some food for thought. This guy may have gotten a good deal, but all of the money that he'll constantly have to keep dumping into the car, it'll be better off getting one without those problems. You get what you pay for. I have a 2013 xjl, with 104,000 miles, and my mechanic thought it was a 2020 because of the condition it's in, and I've only had to change the coolant reservoir hose. I'm knocking on wood after typing that 🤞🏾.

Also I’m assuming that you are young and your insurance rates for this car will be through the roof also the maintenance shouldn’t be that bad however I am also assuming that you don’t make much money right now and therefore even a simple oil change could be half a weeks worth of pay for you. I own a 2011 Jag XJ Supercharged now pushing 110,000 miles. No major problems but I have experienced a few of what you've shown. If you decide to replace the windscreen trim, it will need to be installed by the dealer otherwise you'll break the pins that hold it to the rubber molding. They have a special tool to do the job. My rear window screen does not work anymore and it looks like a job I don't want to tackle and I can live without it as I have window tinting. The center console was a fairly easy fix. You can find used ones on ebay and install it your self, but I had my audio specialists pull the old on and install and new one. I threw in the towel on trying to glue that rubber piece back on the key fob. The dealer has to code it even if you find a used one. The Arizona heat and sun caused cracking on all of my wood trim. Ebay to the rescue again and I found a near new entire set of OEM carbon fiber trim for a huge savings. Again, I had my audio pros pull the old trim - including the two long dash pieces and replaced them with the carbon fiber. It looks so much better. While the guys were pulling the trim, I had them replace all the heat damaged speakers in all four doors. Sounds like new now. Finally, I had the driver's seat re-foamed by an independent shop in Scottsdale. Ebay is your friend with this car...but what a car.

    First and foremost he said around 10:30 minutes into the video he stayed it was in a front end collision and brought from the salvage auction so it was already in bad condition. He wouldn't have them issues if it wasn't salvaged. Common sense. I have 2015 brought from auction and love it. 90,000 miles don't have them issues.

    The big problem with Jaguars and a lot of other high end luxury cars is that if you want all the toys and gadgets they have and total reliability they would have to be priced at double or treble what they actually retail for when new. At their current prices new, they all end up with a litany of problems and are designed to last their warranty period.

    • @XJLuxury
      @XJLuxury  2 года назад

      That is true with almost any high end luxury car. You need to pay to play.

    Sorry to say this but Jaguar aint what they used to be.Theyve lost the classic looks,the interiors are dire and sounds like the reliability hasnt improved at all.Heartbreaking because the back catalogue of Jaguar is stunning.Hope they can turn it round....

    How’s this handle winters in NY?

    • @XJLuxury
      @XJLuxury  Год назад

      Since this is a real wheel drive vehicle, it handles the winter weather horribly. I do not use this vehicle in the rain or the snow. however, if this was the all-wheel-drive version, then it would be perfectly fine with no issue.
