Thankyou so much , you saved me a ton of money, very helpful, I'm from the UK with a XJ and also had problems with the little bit of plastic which i know i would not of worked out why and would have tried to force it shut breaking it so again a big thankyou
I dont know if u even read these comments anymore but I changed my own key out based off your video and it works great and I have the red fob casing. Beautiful, thanks for the tutorial my guy.
I like the new key. Thank you for uploading these videos. Your one of the few people that make videos on the Xj and I really appreciate it! also thanks for the oil change video I was wondering how to do that.
I loved this video and have watched it again about a year apart. Such a great informative video delivered with passion. I can’t believe there aren’t more views to this. Thank you.
I sincerely hope to buy a hugely depreciated XJ in 2023 as soon as the leasing for my BMW 3 series expires! But I'm purchasing a 2016 post restyling model! Now it costs something like 35k euros and I already got the gold key fob for it 👍😎 keep up the good work! Have a nice weekend 😊
@@XJLuxury yeah sure! Thanks to you for keeping us informed about your XJ! I'm going to get a 2016 model with the 3 litre V6 diesel with 300 HP! Here in Italy it's the most sensible choice! Also, you can get it for 35k euros at the moment, so......... I'll be lucky to get one for a very cheap price!!
Thanks a bunch for posting. Appreciate the video. I had the exact same issue and couldn’t figure out how to get to the motherboard. Followed your video and got the new fob setup just fine. Thanks again.
Thank you for video. I have had the 2 replacement fobs for 2 years. My original ones finally gave up the ghost they were totally unusable. So today after watching this video I swopped both over. If I can do it anyone can. Thanks.
The replacement key is the same as the XF. I think the circuit board itself on the XJ key is a slightly different shape, which is why it didn't fit. I used the aftermarket key like yours for my XF and it was/ is a perfect fit. Either way, its a good mod - great stuff
Thank you so so so much for this! My key clasp is broken so it keeps flapping open, but now I know it can be done! P.s love your car in white! (Mines black)
Lookin at getting a 2016-17 jag XJ portfolio but i am scared because of all the people who talk down on the reliability but i notice most people complaining dont even own one looking on advice if its a good idea to get one as i live in north america
I was fortunate enough to find a 2013, British Racing Green XJL 5.0. Portfolio. One owner, no accidents, all service records, with only 21500 miles. I’ve had a lot of newer luxury and sports cars, and this Leaper is my favorite ever. Like my favorite jeans. I just FIT it. You must consider that, being a partially bespoke exotic, you will have issues. And it won’t be cheap. But my car, Boss, literally leaps when you floor it. Leave all the white Mercedes alone. Be original. Go for it - just keep looking for a good one like I did. I took months to find exactly what i wanted, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
I actually just trimmed the circuit board until it fit. The part that needs to be trimmed doesn't have any runs on it. I just used an exacto knife, but could have used my dremel instead.
@@XJLuxury I did it way before this video came out, and was going by guys on the Jaguar forum who had done it, and had posted their method and results. If I had to do it again, I probably would have just used my dremel to cut the plastic casing. Was just pointing out that unless someone is clumsy, they aren't likely to actually mess up the circuit board.
Hey man it's been ages till you upload a video.. so I've asked a question in your previous video that how reliable XJ engine is after long period of time and major issue can occur in long period of time. Btw nice video!!
Hey man I’m so sorry it’s just the coronavirus has really taken a toll on my life and especially when it comes to videos. Just did this to my XJL Supercharged, MUCH APPRECIATED MAN!! Thank you🙏🏽
You’re welcome man
I love this car, I wish you'd make more vids! Perhaps you should try to fix some of your car's problems like the seat plastic trim etc
More videos have been recorded and planned. Keep an eye out for them and thanks!

Thanks great video.
Thank you
Intro is perfect! Love the feed in of X-J-Luxury. Awesome!
Thank you for the amazing support!
Did you guys get a low battery on remote indicator on the dash? When I swap batteries to original fob the indication is off.
Nice
Hi, does the same change fit with old XF key to new key XF?
I imagine it would.

So far my XJL had been very reliable. I will be making a reliability video soon on my car

You could do it that way, however, I prefer cutting the plastic key instead.

No the older key looks way better

I used to have a 15' xjl. It got totaled but I still have 1 key fob. Do you know if I can reprogram my 15' fob for my current xjl which is a 16'?
Yes that is possible at the dealer it may cost a lot of money so what you need to do is try and contact a independent locksmith or go to a mechanic shop and see if they have a dealer level scan tool that can program the key for you
You lucked out by getting a 2016 because that’s when they redesigned the headlights
