What was your highlight from the past week of racing? 😍
Hoogland's record was phenomenal. On level ground, a smooth surface and in still air, most racers can't get their bicycles up to the average speed that Hoogland achieved over the kilometer he rode, let alone the top speed he achieved. Go, Hoogland!
Hoogland holding somewhere between 9 & 10 w/kg for any length of time is absolutely insane!!! so much POWAAAAAAAA!!!!
Hoogland is on a different planet. Just awesome! That is a lot of mass/momentum entering the banking (that guy has a lot of confidence in his seat, seat post, bolt (s))!
The one kilo speed boggles my mind. My top speed going downhill in the past few years is 78 km per hour ( about a 13-15 percent gradient. BRavo sir.. i am a canadian and very pleased for our team results. The one km is not in the olympics? Sheesh such a great event!!!!
I got to 76 km/h on Ottawa street in KW region in Ontario.
I bet you cant even hold 35kmh for one kilo
@@BinhNguyen-ti2sd
35kph for an km?
That's easy. There was a time i could do that on an MTB.
I think currently my max average on 1 km would be 40-45 kph on a roadbike. But that's with an easy warming up rolling start.
Doing 65kph average WITH AN STANDING START!!!. is absolutely bonkers and insanity.
That is just mind blowing 🤯🙌🏼🥳
Awesome, just off the scale!!!
Awesome by Hoogland. Wow.
my favorite show every week. wish it were twice a week.
We love it too! You could also check out the GCN show for more of Lloydy!
Epic. Mental. That’s mental.
Meanwhile...here I am feeling fast at 45k/h sprints/descents ...wow
Love Pogačar’s pic of Chris Froome at 0:56
Thanks for giving us the mph as well! 😊
Have a good vacation Alex!
Good thing it wasn't an endurance event. You have to acclimatized if you're going to perform at high altitude. That's why he's still effed up 10 mins after.
76 kph for how long - probably less than a 5". He is impressive in this discipline! Congratulations to JH
I sprinted to 30mph once and held it for a millisecond. Hoogland is a super human beast!
@9:58……Chiappucci in ‘92. He was on EPO…..come on, enough with the charade. Phil Liggett sitting there in feigned astonishment; he and Paul Sherwen knew the peloton was doped.
This blind eye to the doping thing, gets real old.
2700watts for any length of time is unbelievable. I was stoked when I managed to peak at 1400watts for 1-3 seconds, doing twice that and then holding +900 watts for 50 seconds after is otherworldly.
Holy smokes Hoogland absolutely savagely left it all out there and just barely keeping together
I would like to see a real pro like him trying those enclosed recumbent bikes. Could he go 100 mph?!
Completely different muscle utilisations, though I do hope to see the level of specialisation from this event in recumbent bikes and velomobiles in the future.
It's Alive!! Marty Feldman LIVES!
0:07 what a machine!
It was an unbelievable effort!
1100 watts for 55 seconds ! Wow imagine how fast you can climb with 1100 watts ! That's insane. 2700W for 100kg is 27W/Kg, that's what I have and I can jump 75cm with no move before.
yeah canada! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hoogland's ride was insane, that's all I got, I'm still in mourning over GCN+
I finally have hope in beating tadej pogacar in drawing 😅.
I think it could be relatable if you would provide us with Hoogland's peak and avg cadence as something many viewers can try for themselves on home trainers/rollers
I almost puked just from watching the effort.
Given the tech / athletes are changing, I wonder if they might change the courses as well? It might enable even faster and more spectacular performances (specifically TT/velodrome)
Jumbo juice ftw!
Hoogland gasping for air.
Van Empel, without breathing.
I'm not sure why but some GCN videos have ridiculous volume levels. Guys, it's not necessary to have your volume levels so high. It actually helps dynamics by lowing them to a place where things sound better and the mix comes through clearer.
I've gone 120 kph, downhill on l.a. frwy 15. Radar by chp.😊
SUPERLEAGUE IS FRI + SAT not SAT + SUN. Had a scare! Away on holiday from Saturday....
Oops! My bad. Dan
3:27 why he uses that thing? and what is that ?
What were the watts per kilogram?
he's 100 kg so 27 w/kg
I can’t even get to 75 in the flying 200 lol
yes crazy but mvdp averaged 10,9 w/kg for 43s at amstel after 6hs of crazy racing
2:50 - I thought the leg press wasn't very good for cycling? I always heard squats and deadlift are where its at
Sir Chris apparently had a leg press in the region of 650kg too, so they must be good for something! Squats & DLs are better for core strength so I guess there's a place for all three?
Are you a normal cyclist doing 100km rides or a sprinter doing 1km maximum speed attempts? Probably tells you what the leg press helps you get better at 😂
@@FunMushizzle I was just trying to figure out why that’d be the case though because even for squats and deadlift I still go for around 4 or 5 all out reps
How do people like Hoogland manage to find jeans that fit around his godzilla thighs?
Time for me to hit the leg press.
You will be at 2700 watts in no time!🏋️
@@gcnracing I currently average 22 km/h for a century ride and want to achieve 32.2 km/h so I can ride a century in under 5 hours. This all during winter, outside, dealing with rough roads and cars and on an Opus Mode modified to be single speed. I have ordered however the Garmin Tacx Neo 2T so I can train indoors in better conditions as soon snow will make biking very slow and salty here in Ontario. I am Dutch and 6'5" BTW I wonder if that helps or hinders my odds of being a good cyclist.
@@FringeWizard2 I am 6'4"
No height does not limit your odds, Just look at Wout van Aert.
It does limit in what you can excel. Neither of us will ever become a good climber.
What every athlete needs is frequent and consistent low intensity training. Mixed up with 20% high intensity workouts.
Your Tacx can help with that.
Guy on the thumbnail of the video look as if air pumped into him.
2:36 as it happens that is about the fastest I have ever been on a bike - on an arrow-straight descent with about half a mile of visibility a couple of years back. The idea of doing that speed around a velodrome - even on some kind of derestricted e-bike - fills me with terror. The first thing that came into my head watching that video was "soon we're gonna need bigger velodromes" :-)
The longest I’ve held 1k watts is 22 seconds and was also sitting on the floor gassed out with a major headache. I can’t imagine doing it for more than twice as long
Lol, you imagined it for 22 seconds...so just imagine it for a bit longer haha.
@@aedsy That’s extremely rude. I put a lot or work to get to this point. I run D1 track and during my free time train with some of the best track cyclists in the US at the velodrome in Torrence, guys that consistently go a full 1km in 60 second efforts. “Imagining” intervals and tough workouts, going through data with my coaches, got me an overall podium at the Malibu Triathlon, won my age group for the Long Beach Tri etc. After a hard day of running, coming home and sitting on my trainer to enjoy some dinner and RUclips, reading a comment like yours hurts. If you have nothing nice to say then don’t say it, and putting others down is neither nice or funny.
You drop this 💉king
And Jeffrey did the record pace at 30 years old!!
Do you mean should it be broken any time soon, he will be too old to claim it back?
Is his age a meaningful metric here? He’s not +50 which would make it worth a mention…
Amazing that he did this in his prime and not as a preteen or senior citizen. Who would have thought?
@@veganpottertheveganlol
@@ivarbrouwer197yes it is because most cycling federations shy away from 30 year old cyclists. Granted Jeffrey's palmares are world class solid so that helps a lot. He's an absolute monster and this record will hold for a long time.
I just did 800watts over 30 seconds with calibrated PowerLink speedplays... And I've only been cycling for 6 months... Seems like I am was born to be a track cyclist but they don't exist around me
Nothing special
@@user-rj4kh7dm4u still good enough to be top 10% on INTERVALS ICU for all my power numbers under 30 seconds lol and interval icu skews very high because most people using it are actively training. Since most cyclists don't even know about intervalsicu unless they are racing lol
after 2 minutes I'm in the bottom 50% of all my power stats, which is expected for a beginner like myself. I also have a pretty strong 20 minute effort which categorizes my power curve as a "time trialist" but its nothing special
Tell us when you hit 1k+ watts average for 55 seconds with a prak of 2700 watts
@@harmen1832 that's Olympic track cyclist power numbers lol you're not doing that but I promise I'm closer than you
@@BodieMoto lol, I am a vivid fan of the sport. I don't hit these numbers, only a select number of the pros can even hit these numbers. Was just laughing at your clueless comment 🤣🤣. Your effort, even though not bad, is just around 25-30% of his effort. You see how far off that is?
And if really have got it in you, then go for it. I will be cheering for you if you make it (no joke, I support all the pros)
definitely no drugs involved. none. not even a sniff of anabolics. completely legit
Chicken, broccoli and rice
He is Dutch Milk and cheese we are built on Milk and Cheese.
The last clean kilo record was possibly set never😂

@@veganpotterthevegan
I know you're being sarcastic, but yeah- there is no proof whatsoever of any doping here.
scary power
That’s nothing! I was in a Zwift race where a guy held 4190W for 15 seconds last week, 2700W peak wouldn’t get you far against that 😂🤣🥹 Go Zwift!
