What if they make it a time loop, where Link and Zelda in TotK created Skyloft somehow and then the timeline gets a third dimension? Well, now that I type it publicly, it sounds a bit too crack to be plausible... but you get what I mean.

There's tons of stuff that's very clearly changed in the world. And this is just the stuff they've shown us so far! As the video states, Nintendo wants us to discover the changes for ourselves, not just spoil it all in a bunch of trailers.

List of things zelda has done (from what I remember):
Sealed away calamity ganon in botw
Travelled along side link in disguise and fought ganon with him in WW
Defeated Calamity Ganon itself AND thousands of his minions in AoC (assuming you mained her)
Killed a lot of ganon’s minions in the original hyrule warriors too
Joined the Sheika clan when she became an adult under the alias of “Sheik” in OoT

Even if it's taken a while, and even if it's not as good as some people wanted, I'm pretty sure I'll still like it because I loved breath of the wild. If it is just "breath of the wild" but with some added features and new places I'd still be happy, because it's like getting to explore more breath of the wild.

I absolutely agree with Madz. The best part of playing BoTW was discovering things on your own so it would only make sense if we didn't know much about ToTK because that would make it more fun for players to explore that new cave on their own, try to understand that brand new enemy or something simple like making a grilled cheese sandwich without the help of google.
Your art style has improved so much and so quickly it’s honestly incredible. I remember that one video where you said you were taking a course on discovering your art style on Skillshare. Whatever that course was I need to take it.

I'd rather wait seven years between every Zelda game than have the team struggle as bad as the Pokemon team has done to keep up with that brutal near-yearly release schedule

I mean you are aware that in the 80s, video games were 30-40 dollars, which, adjusting for inflation is about 80-100 dollars today. This is in no way the peak of video game prices, people just arent thinking about it

@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 In the 80's renting games was way more common than buying them, also videogames weren't nearly as popular as they are today, and the game company had to put that price to make up for costs in producing the cartridge, being sold to stores, and the stores having to make a profit
In an era where most game sales are digitally sold, where physical distribution is dyng, where the Cartridges don't cost that much, and where renting is basically dead, it doesn't really make sense that they cost 70 dollars on release
i honestly wouldnt mind it if nintendo lowered the price of some of their other games that dont deserve to be 60 + pirates gonna pirate anyway
I do kinda like that their solution to improving BOTW is just to slap another map on top of it and add what look like buildable vehicles
It's definitely one of those moments that I'm like...I get it...but also like.....
If it really IS just all they're showing, just more BoTW, then it's gonna be hard to justify its cost. We'll see tho. I still think we're missing the "cappy reveal"
It's what I'm feeling too. We're missing the big hook here that really excites people. Either it's there, or it isn't. But i gotta say it's kinda insane that we are closing in on 2 months till release and we're still getting "link diving off of sky islands and doing back flips in Botw environments" type trailers. Depending on how long they push a gameplay showcase for this back, the wait grows heavier and heavier down on that showcase. I feel like there are a lot of casual fans of Botw that aren't even aware this is coming out, between it being such a long time since the initial announcement and just the fact that each subsequent time this game has been shown in a direct, it's had less and less of a splash from what I've observed. By the time a Direct ends, most people are focused on something else and even reactions I've seen from people anticipating this game, you can tell they just aren't anywhere near as excited as they were for the original. Not saying any of this has any baring on the quality of the game when it releases, but the marketing is definitely subdued for this and interest is low.
I'm mainly interested to see how they handle weapon durability and enemy variety this time around. As long as they improve those areas, I'll be happy.
I hope that the car thing in the newest trailer was a material you can build anything out of, so I can make a goblin catapult or an elevator positioned so you can use it to go both up and down
I wouldn't be surprised if they do a giant crazy huge crafting system for this game!

What I love about BOTW is that I played it entirely blind, I didn’t watch any trailers or anything of it because I didn’t even know the game came out until I got it 😆 So, playing a game blindly in my opinion always makes it more exciting, that’s how I always play my Zelda games and that’s how they should be marketed, it makes people wonder so many things about what could and couldn’t be in it! And Nintendo has said it time and time again, they enjoy to see theories and hear people discussing with each other about the games!
I remember the wait for Breath of the Wild felt unbearable, and now it's been six whole years since it came out! Eventually the wait for ToTK will be the same. It's weird to think about.

The mystery thing is a justification for the lack of uniqueness (or wow factor) in the trailer.. hope it pays off because if we're this close to launch and thats the best they can market to us, that makes me cautious
My theory is that they are trying to make up for the trailers of Breath of the Wild. The trailers of botw cherry picked the best moments. I think they're trying to let the game speak for itself.

I’ve heard people saying that Tears of Kingdom looks more like Botw 1.5 and see this as a bad thing.

Last time I remember Nintendo making a sequel to beloved game, that was originally DLC, it was Super Mario Galaxy 2 back in 2010. And that game turned out completely amazing and one of my favorite games of all time. So if Nintendo is going to that again with Breath of the Wild, then I don’t mind at all.
After binging retrospectives on old games recently I noticed this exact thing on a video of SMG2. I remember it fondly being so done and learning it was just supposed to be DLC was mind boggling. Your comment greatly puts my thoughts into words. Im so glad to see at least one other person express this opinion, on the same games no less
Honestly for me personally even if this game is just BotW 1.5, I loved BotW so getting to play that but even more? It's a win win for me man.
Honestly, a subsequent Zelda game being very similar to the last one isn't even that abnormal, especially in cases where the game is a direct continuation of a previous one.
Majora is for all intents and purposes, despite how it utilizes a lot of the same stuff far better and with more refinement, just an improved version of Ocarina in a lot of ways with the major change being the greater focus on time-limits, namely because the game was originally supposed to just be an expansion of Ocarina before the one asked to do it said they didn't want to just make the exact same game but improved in places.
Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks also are all incredibly similar in many ways due to them being so closely connected. The only major divergence is between WW and Phantom, and that's because they had to downgrade visuals and rework how movement and combat works to account for the transition to DS. Even then, the overall gameply loop is super similar with the whole focus on boat-riding thing.
Just because BotW was a massive split from the normal Zelda formula doesnt mean the next one has to do that again and drastically shift a second time. There's already several elements that if anything probably shouldnt have diverged as much as they did, and a lot of the discussion and trailers seem to imply those are the elements that are being altered to more closely resemble missing elements. Besides, I've still definitely seen enough new mechanics or alterations to say it doesn't seem so overly similar that it's just basically version 1.5 That's a definite exaggeration.

I remember my first play through of botw was completely blind, I never saw any of the trailers and got it day a 2 days after the switch came out using birthday money I had gotten that day because it looked somewhat cool and was blown away by it.
I feel like people are forgetting about the time between botw’s reveal and release - just like botw2, there was 5 years with little information. Nintendo obviously does this on purpose to enhance the actual experience of playing the game, and I’m glad people actually realise that
It’s kinda like how Omori was developed. Omocat didn’t want anything to be revealed about the game, which left fans waiting years, only getting a trailer or 2, which upset the fans. But when the game released it allowed everyone to go in completely blind and experience the game for themselves

Hi, this is the first video I've seen of this channel and I LOVE IT. Your voice sounds very good, the edition is incredible and super fluid, your way to talk about it is very entertaining and the characters are perfect. Their animation is super smooth and the style is very good. They kinda remind me of fnf characters. I'm subscribing and hitting the bell.

The trailers certainly aren't as hype as BOTW's was, but they really can't give any more away without completely spoiling the story BECAUSE we already know so much about the setting! In fact, I've already heard some theories about how this game will tie into the timeline that I'm willing to bet on
That was where Botw sorely fell short, they showed everyone this huge game (obviously it is tho) with an amazing story and people were hyped about it. And then the story fell flat. Don't get me wrong what we had was decent but it wasn't incredible. The developers being more secretive about this game is so good since that means that there is so much to find that they don't want to risk showing to much of the story and the gameplay.
The car really reminds me of the BOTW glitches people did with the boats
I heard somewhere that Tears of the Kingdom was originally DLC concepts that got too big to fit as just DLC, so that's probably one of the main reasons its the same world... another reason, is they already spent SO LONG making this massive open-world for the first game, why waste that and start over from scratch when you can ADD and improve what you already got?

the struggle here is that:
if the zelda team is trying to keep the game spoiler free they have to show much less.
but if they want the consumer to pay 70$ for a game that looks pretty similar they have to show a lot.
so uh...
I think there is a concern that people have for the sequel. So far, they've shown a little bit. I understand not wanting to show too much, but at the same time they need to show a little bit more. Like, will there be hidden skills for Link to learn in sword combat that wasn't in BotW? Will there be underwater exploration? How much of Hyrule has changed? Will Zelda actually be playable? I feel like there's something that they still need to show. The game is coming out in 2 months! Hopefully, there will be a demo at Pax East 2023 - since Nintendo will be attending there.
Overall, I still enjoyed watching the video. It's nice that you try to tackle both sides of the arguments and try to give your take on the situation of the game. I am looking forward to the game, but like I said, I want to see a bit more.

The way I see it, the marketing for ToK is BotW, if you enjoyed BotW it’s very likely you’ll enjoy ToK and if you enjoyed BotW’s story, ToK is a direct sequel so anyone who likes the story will want to see what happens next regardless of marketing, this game is going to be great, it’s going to get a GOTY nomination if not win GOTY (there’s a little competition) and it’s not even out yet

I literally have an alarm set on my phone called "TEARS OF THE KINDOM" that's going to go off the morning the game releases. I'm very excited
Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks are sequels to the Wind Waker, a trilogy, that's unheard of!
My main problem is that I won't get hyped for a game when I have barely any actual gameplay, same problem with the Pokemon SV DLC for me, especially since the game still has major performance issues, and new bugs (apparently some people who connected Pokemon GO with Scarlet and Violet have had their save corrupt, or just in general a game crash. Not connecting to PoGo now...).
I know that Pokemon doesn't have the same quality assurance that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom do, but Nintendo is a part of the Pokemon Company, and they could say "slow down, we gotta let polish happen" but nope.
So I guess I'm not just less likely to trust anything new Pokemon related, but also Nintendo related, nice job everyone!
Phantom hourglass was actually my first zelda game, and I never finished it bcs i was terrible at video games when I was younger, but if I can find my DS, I think I might go back and beat it and Spirit tracks

Looking back on the trailers for BotW, they had given even less information than they've given us for TotK. They had an entire trailer explaining the new features like Fuse and Ultrahand. We didn't get that for BotW
I do think having wheels is good. The platform size of the preview appears that you hold good link could not carry on the platform for travel.

I’m actually so happy how hidden they’ve been with this game. Botw is my favorite game of all time and was one of the best experiences when I didn’t watch many trailers and just went in blind. So being able to just go into this game pretty blind is gonna be great
