I think the main problem with ACNH was how repetitive and dull it got during the endgame. Like your villagers just feel like stuff toys you collect because they don't do anything other than repeat the same things over over and again. I guess ACNH was focused more on how you can design the island instead of going back to its roots, which was to escape into another world filled with animals you can talk to and form relationships with.

My main problems with the game are twofold: Villager's dialogue is really boring and repetitive. And the shop expands ONCE at which point it's still tiny, so few things to browse each day.
aw this was actually kinda sad. this game really did come out at the perfect time for everyone and it was fun that we all were enjoying it at the same time basically but then the updates that came out just kept being more and more lackluster and so it feels like everyone just fell off of it at the same time. ill remember those early months of it fondly though
Just go back and keep playing this time, the 2.0 update fixes literally all problems except bulk crafting, and adds enough to do to keep even some of the stingiest players playing

The primary reason I stopped playing Animal Crossing is because I can't change my in game name to from my deadname, and the thought of restarting literally everything is just not worth it.
I was so desperate for a genuine ac game I went back to New Leaf. It just feels so much more full of life, while New Horizons is an empty hull. Honestly if they just shoved more dialogue into the villagers, brought back the old furniture series to flesh out the catalogue, and the roost with Brewster, the game would feel a bit more lively.
I would have played ACNH more if the villagers were more interesting like in the older games and also were more involved in progression. Crafting made it so getting furniture(and sorta clothes) was less reliant on villagers even though they're like the main appeal of the series
this is fun to watch because of the fact that at the features missing part, some of the stuff they talked about is now coming to the game like Brewster and the cafe
I got to a point with this game that I just had no idea what to do so I just re started my island and everything just kind of got repetitive and I could not get specific things that I needed/wanted and I never had meteor showers and just got board could not do much
hey madz, if you didnt know the reason why this game was made was because the creator of animal crossing never got to be with his family nor friends, so he got into coding and made a game called dōbutsu no mori, a game where you could relax and be with non-real friends. the franchise gradually got bigger and bigger to the point where it is today. (i learned all of this because i was told to write an essay on what makes me happy and i decided on animal crossing, i got some info on it, and now i know too much.)
Watching this and realizing I haven’t touched my game in over a year and when I did apparently I was still on New Year’s Eve of 2020- ... that worries me- But also seeing that I could get help to work on my art career with Art Star makes me happy to know that this could help and I’m thankful to hear about this! 💛
As someone who started on the gamecube for the first entry, it was nice to get back into animal crossing, but most of things that I expected to be standards that wouldn't go below, like just interacting with villagers, or the gyroids in front of the houses. It isn't a bad entry, it's just the entry that newcomers are starting to recognize the series for, which it serves that purpose beautifully, it just doesn't build upon in the same way previous entries have. It quite simply doesn't have the same atmosphere, almost more, I don't want to say brand safe, but it's "cleaner" as in like industrial cleaner. If that makes sense. Considering most of the animal crossing experience is atmospheric and then to start get consistantly repeated repeated dialogue, it is the small things, but that's what animal crossing is all about, the small things. It's just a game I disagree with on its fundamental level, not because of the idea, but the namesake and the things it has to live up to, and put simply doesn't quite hit the mark. It still could if they decide to completely overhaul the villagers first then keep building the atmosphere, but until then I honestly don't think I'll see my island, and if I really feel the animal crossing itch, I'll boot up one of the older titles, because they atmosphere I want. This wasn't meant to be a rant, but I still stand by it, thanks for reading I guess.
Try new horizons again, the 2.0 update and upcoming expansion fix basically everything and add most of what we wanted and more. Really makes it what might be the definitive game in the series, unless you just particularly like the atmosphere of another
JOYCON DRIFT IS SO RELATABLE I completely stopped playing on my switch because the joycon drift was unbearable- weirdly enough it was working perfectly for 3 years prior to it breaking :/ I tried so many times to fix it, used condensed air on them which worked for about an hour at most.. until it didn't. I ended up caving a couple months later and just bought new joy cons. Now I can enjoy playing again :D

People stopped playing due to lack of variety and missing features that were asked for, with thousands upon thousands saying exactly what they thought the game needed outside of the QOL update. Specifically they said Brewster, Kappn, farming, cooking, ceiling stuff, different types of items in different varieties, more house customization, more interactive/interesting villagers, other missing npcs, gyroids, and more Well the update literally went down the line and answered every single one of those requests and more. It brought all those things, added 9,000+ new items to collect, made entire new gameplay systems, let’s you make a new town square on Harv’s island, brought back all missing npcs from the previous few games, and more. And then on top off all of that, it gives the Happy Home Paradise dlc which is far and way more expansive and interesting than the original Happy Home Designer. The game has so much to do with these two updates that literally no one who liked the series much at all in the first place has anything much to complain about. You may think the game still gets repetitive, but you’d probably be in the small minority. There’s so much more to do and almost everything people were asking to be added was added Not only is most everything outside of QOL fixed, things have gotten exponentially better. I’m sorry if the game isn’t your thing, but acting like the updates gave almost nothing is straight up silly. The game has really become what everyone wanted in their infinitely playable island sim, and I think it’s pretty clear the game is here to stay as one of the best on the Switch
I think the reason I got burned out was cause I felt really overwhelmed and forced to build and only get villagers based on the 'theme' of my island. After about a year or two I just found building boring.
I miss New Leaf... I miss my town Olympia... So many features with a big sense of progression, with many stores unlocking over time and the town tree growing. I'm probably gonna pick up NH again to make things feel like my old home

And then on top off all of that, it gives the Happy Home Paradise dlc which is far and way more expansive and interesting than the original Happy Home Designer. The game has so much to do with these two updates that literally no one who liked the series much at all in the first place has anything much to complain about. You may think the game still gets repetitive, but you’d probably be in the small minority. There’s so much more to do and almost everything people were asking to be added was added
Not only is most everything outside of QOL fixed, things have gotten exponentially better. I’m sorry if the game isn’t your thing, but acting like the updates gave almost nothing is straight up silly. The game has really become what everyone wanted in their infinitely playable island sim, and I think it’s pretty clear the game is here to stay as one of the best on the Switch
I think the reason I got burned out was cause I felt really overwhelmed and forced to build and only get villagers based on the 'theme' of my island. After about a year or two I just found building boring.

You can find rooster on a island only accessible by the boat not by the plane
If you talk to him you can convince him to come to your island then he will open a cafe in the museum
