Brutus was discovered by rescue organization Paws Up Program (PUP) with dozens of the needle-like hairs embedded in his face. He had clearly been in a tussle with a porcupine, a large rodent covered in up to 30,000 protective quills which attach to any prospective predator and can dig deeper into the skin once hooked on. They can become more anchored in the skin the longer they are there, and can even travel to vital organs or cause infections, according to Preventive Vet. It meant time was of the essence for the injured dog, who was at risk of losing an eye to the quills. After a long process, the black dog has "since had all the quills removed and is recovering in our foster care program," Bard said. He added that although Brutus suffered an infection "around and behind his left eye," the "eyeball itself wasn't damaged" and the dog is expected to make a full recovery.
I dunno why people feel bad for the dog, porcupines don’t exactly hurt animals that are passive to them. Which means the dogs most likely tried to bite it or kill it and got a face full of quills, it’s quite literally his fault he fucked around and found out
You know, this makes me so sad. Just seeing him laying there like that. But look on the bright side, he's still happy just to be hanging out with his pals and wagging his tail!
@@WMICxOf course! He's in severe pain! That's why only a person who has good trust with dogs should approach him..They could wear gloves in case he bites.
Wagging tails doesn’t mean they are happy it depends on which way to left or to right has a bag meaning I use to think that too. Until recently when I seen a video on it
My 1 yr old Lab just got into one an hour ago. Each of my dogs gets stupid at 1 yr old. Only 30 quill's. If we get lucky he will not do it again! The older dogs were smarter.
I don’t know he doesn’t seem like he’s that negatively affected by it although I could tell it hurts I’m shocked that he’s just sitting there like any other dog. I think there isn’t a quills in his face.
I know that probably hurts like hell but... it's hard not to laugh at him just sitting there with a face full of spikes and acting like nothing's there.
😮 Oh My Goodness that's so awful 😭😢... Poor Pup... I have seen this before but, not so many quills. That Dog was right up on the Porqueine. I pray that it hasn't gotten in it's eyes
OmG, he'll have to be anesthetized. I once helped dequill a Rottweiler. He really trusted me. I was terrified. Not my dog, but a friend's. An unforgettable experience, I'm sure for the dog, too. I love dogs!😅
I'm sure he's in a great deal of pain. But that's alright, it's important you film him with what looks to be dozens of porcupine quills embedded in his face before you get help. WTF!!!!!!
Please give an update that you actually helped this dog out. I’ve just calling his name. It doesn’t show that you actually helped remove the porcupine stickers. At least let us know if if he went to the vet or what’s going on.
Top comment provides an update. Says a rescue group took the dog to a vet, and eventually got all the needles removed. There was an inflection in one of the eyes, but the eyeball itself was unharmed and is expected to make a full recovery. Good news.
Damn I’ve witnessed multiple dogs take nasty damage from porcupines before but that might be the worst quilling I’ve ever seen. Can’t believe he isn’t blind!
How does that even happen...I mean I've seen dogs get a few but that poor pup had a face full. Could it have been intentionally done somehow, or did he just keep going after one? So odd.
Even if she was not recording she does not know the dog's state of mind even if she wanted to help. If you do not know the dog, you have to be cautious not knowing if the dog will attack even if you are trying to help the dog.
@@that.ll_do_pig that is what people always assume based on a very short clip. However, if you do not know the dog, you have to be cautious when trying to help not knowing the dog's state of mind even if the dog appears calm now might start attacking.
This is actually shot by the rescue group that RESCUED the dog. You can see the watermark on the video, Paws Up Program. They took the dog to a vet, and although an infection was present in one of the eyes, is expected to make a full recovery. So the person that shot the video actually saved the dog.
How about a follow up? did you get the vet to remove the quills. What humane actions were you able to take. Did you call animal control to help. Come on. Most people care very much and dont like to see a picture like this without some information on a resolution for the sake of the suffering animal.
But the truth is why do you assume this dog wasn't taken to an animal hospital just because she recorded it for 20 or 30 seconds? *Animal rescues rely on the generosity of the public and sharing cases like this online helps spread the word about what they do and the resources they need.
And is that a dog-fighting or Puppy-factory hell-hole with those kennels & chained dogs in the paddock. HATEFUL! Glad the dog was rescued but what about the rest?

Thank you so much for the info!! ❤
Thank you for the follow-up information. I hope they checked on the health of his poor buddy tied up to the dog house as well.
He's a good Doggie
Still wagging his tail.😢
Thank you for saving this beautiful dog.

Thank you for helping him!
He looks defensive to me with an anxious wag, and isn’t that him growling

Puppy learned not to attack porcupines. Hard lesson, but important one.
A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way.

His tail is wagging too. I think he's already accepted it
The pain is so immense that the dog doesn't even want to move or bark. Porcupines got that thang on em
My ❤aches for this pup. I'm concerned that these dogs are being properly cared for. PLEASE provide an update. Thanks!!
True definition of Fucked around and found out! Poor baby!!
Dog is just sitting there like "this aint nothing new to me" 😢😢
Poor dog I hope it can be better 🙏🙏😢
So happy to hear he's going to be okay!❤
That dog definitely went in for 2nd and 3rds with that porcupine.
Bless u 4 saving him.
Yes. Very sad. I'm happy was rescued and to know it's better
Poor baby😢time to go to the vet!
Why are you assuming the dog isn't getting help??????
Thank you for taking the time to post the details. Glad he is okay 😅

You can tell he keeps trying to bite the porcupine from all the spikes
He needed to mind his own business 😂😂
💔💔 Poor little pup 😭😭
My goodness! 😳
Thankfully, PUP
Came to his rescue
Hopefully, this dog is sent to a safer living
Environment.
Kudos 👌 👏 to PUP !
Bro literally like “oh what up mom! my face a lil messed up I know lol!”
This is hard to watch 😢
I feel bad for dogs that do this once. But it is mind boggling when they do it again!
LOLL BRO LOOKS LIKE A GOOSBUMPS WEREWOLF
OMG,,,I feel so sad for that poor dog,,,looks like they live on a lot of land there so I'm sure there are a lot of different critters they deal with.
The vet problably not even prepared for this type of situation

Could be waiting on the vet to show up. Never know the situation from a 10 second clip. Making judgements off of assumptions shows who you are.
@zhenren9703 LOL, right!
Poor cupine dog, I hope he's ok now..
He said ya know what ima just sit my ass down right here
Oh no😢 too sad!❤
Poor dog, I hope he is ok

😂 DAMNIT BOY. He PHUKED AROUND AND FOUND OUT 😂
Poor pup, I hope you got the him help right away. He has to be suffering.
Poor pup 😢
bro got a face full
Rare breed of porcupine and dog.
Called Porcupooch.
On no ! Poor pup 🐶 I hope they can take them off . 😢
It's difficult if they're deeply embedded. Quills are designed to go deeper and deeper with every movement. In the wild, it's a terrible way to die.
I'm sure the dog was sedated at the vet and went home with some pain meds for his sore skin

poor baby, 😢
Show a video of helping the poor dog.. Not suffering with all those painful quills
I hope none got in his eyes…
So apparently dogs are smart.
Yes, why is that dog tied up in middle nowhere?
That's a $1500 plus vet bill...
I hope it got help
omg😢 poor dog
Poor baby boy
Poor guy.
To remove painlessly, you cut the ends off. They go flat like a straw then pull it out.
Yes. That is terrible
Who has those poor babies just chained up in that high grass probably ticks and a porcupine needles in the face 🤬
Looks good on him, though.
WTH poor pup ☹️

Sorry it wasn't my dog. I just wanted to film it.
What do you do with that
Awful
Poor baby 😢 but it's like she knew she messed up so kept the tail wagging 😂😂
Poor baby
Any updates ?
How the heck is this dog even alive…
Poor dog 🐕
I know that's going to hurt taking Them out,,Poor thing,,,
Couldn't happen to a better breed. A humbled pit bull.😊
Humbled my butt. You know his dumb booty gonna try it again. Speaking as an experienced pittie owner. SMH....
tail wagging/ he is in good spirits
Oh poor thing. It's in shock and waiting for help. Put down the dang camera!!
Poor poor baby 😢 has the other dog tied to the hood been rescued??
🙏🙏🙏
Needs vet help at once
He probably will have babies with the porcupine!,?
OUCH

😂 mind your business!
Stop recording and take him to the vet

I hope he gets help!
....and??
Faz alguma coisa 😮
Invece di fare video, portatelo subito dal veterinario. E l'altro cane legato, non si può vedere.
🤣🤣🤣
Jesus Christ man, take that damn dog to the vet and get him put to sleep and get those quill's out... *Poor Doggy* 💯
