I'm stunned that any fellow artistic professionals allow themselves and the rest of us to not get paid on time by their "entitled politeness"! I'm stunned by this unhelpful answer. I make it known immediately when this happens (repeatedly) and alert everyone to what actions I'm taking to fix it .

That’s a great question with a great response. I recently saw bad behavior from a well known photographer that unravel on social media on companies not paying. “Don’t fight fire with fire.”Such a challenging situation

The guy Brad must be rich Supe or Lead and far removed from us real workers in the trenches. Not being paid on time is ABUSE! Not being paid on time is HARM! Not being paid on time is an HARRASSMENT of the employee. Not being paid on time JEOPARDIZES rent, food and other basic needs of livelihood.

As one who commissions a lot of artists for board game artwork, I agree.
Haha, "I would get a lawyer", "I would not be happy with it, but I would keep doing my job" What is that guy talking about?
This is why I always pay during the process, so we are mutual dependent.
      Best regards Emil
PS: I would not call it abuse or harassments unless it was done regularly/systemically. But that I just my take on semantics ;)

@@suntzugames You are one of the rare ones, so your workers are lucky.
As to your PS on somantics, yes, when done regularly and systematically; and there are post-production companies out there that slime their way around exactly like this. If it's not pay they get you on, it's lying about hours, workload or tasks. "Yeah our company usually runs 40-50hr weeks." Actuality is friday night they tell you if its a 72 or 84hr week starting the next morning. We are nothing other than fodder. Burn one artist out, there's another dozen just out of film school willing to undercut your hard-fought wages and work 48hrs a day 14 days every week just to get in the door.
It's systemic abuse of the artist with all the sympathy going to the overpaid stars who would be nothing without the artists in post fixing their nightmare issues so they look good for the fans.

@@suntzugames And right, "Hire a lawyer." "Hand it off to my agent" This guy has no connection with actual work and workers, folks!
Yeah, hire a lawyer with the rent and food money the company is stalling you on for weeks or months. Hire a lawyer, indeed. Hey, lucky-lucky-you, Brad!

      @@jackphoton So true.
I also hate how EA and Activision use crunches to squeeze everything out of their workers, and then after the release of a game, they have massive layoffs, so that the shareholders can get everything that is left when the companies sell a million copies or more.
      It really sickens me.
Anyhow.. we need to stand up for all workers in the creative field :)

@@suntzugames That's the thing. ILM set the pace back in 1976 with Star Wars. They had a lot of time and money up front that the studios thought was being wasted as there was no product churning out to match the production timeilne. They were in fact building their pipeline, one that had never been contemplated in all of film history before that. By the end of production, the ILM crew was working 24/7 to finish all the matte and comp work.
Every company I ever worked with over 15years in Post based their entire existence on 'crunch-time' work flows. All the post-money gets spent on 'craft services' up front leaving the pos studios scrambling and fighting each other for the scraps.
Yeah folks, 'craft services' that's not popsicle sticks and glue for the kiddies, that's breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night snacks and meals for the stuck-up millionaire 'talent' and higher production staff (Director and cronies) . More appropriately 'craft services' is read as chosen from only the most expensive catering options in town for the most stuck-up, self-serving, egomaniacal facets of production. "Oh, yeah we're gonna need you to stay late. The client has 'some changes. There's no additional money, but since we're paying you on a 'day rate', you're here as long as we want with no option for you.
Every major VFX studio has gone bankrupt at least once over the last 20yrs and most have gone out of business. The top talent scatters, starts up small shops which then fight each other over the same punk-money that put their previous businesses out of business. Meanwhile Disney puts billions intheir executive pockets and millionaire 'talent' cry over what is nothing other than 'chump change' to them but would feed, clothe and house the artists fixing all of talent's lack of talent.
VFX tried to Guild itself several years ago. It fell apart for a number of reasons, but just the legal inquiry was supposed to cost somewhere up to half a million dollars, then the actual legal fees of implementing such an entity. We're too poor as group and the top rated guys don't give a fig for the grunts in the trenches as they had to go the same way so it's a form of psychological pay back. 'Pay your dues.'
