You are so awesome Dan. Watching your videos every day. Have been trying some metal detecting but just found old used cartridges used by the military in the woods. Cheers from Sweden!
Dear D D D ! My son and I really enjoy your videos What I like most is the the fact that you show the good stuff along with the bad( boring ugly trash). You provide entertaining but realistic detecting and make even the most mundane find humorous. You don't "salt" your detecting like I believe some others do. Please keep up the great work. Best of luck and here's "hoping you don't have to dig too deep" Respectfully Nathan & Harrison (Team Scholten)
Great video Dan. Just started detecting this weekend inspired by you and your videos. I was fortunate enough to find and old bullet and lovely musket ball one my first trip Saturday. On Sunday I found nothing but junk but I know the good stuff is out there and will keep persevering. All the best Stu
You're sure right. Bought my first detector (ACE 250) and thought I was going to pay for it withing a few weeks. WRONG... haha. It only took me a couple days of playing around to determine three things for sure. 1) Get a pinpointer 2) Get a shoe box for all the junk you find 3) Be prepared to drop close to $500 to get fully set up if you want to do it correctly (and that's with a medium starting machine, i'll be dropping another $600 for the Garrett AT Pro soon so I'll be $1100 into the whole thing.). Have I found anything to justify all this yet? NO. Am I happy doing it? YES and that's what matters. I'm having fun.
My ATPro along with my , sand scoop , pinpointer and finds belt has paid for itself many times over just in clad , all the silver , gold and platinum finds are the bonus , where else can you have a hobby that pays for itself ?
I agree with Digger Dan. They should clean up the area then post signs to keep people with metal detectors out so the ground doesn't have holes dug and stays clean.
its videos like yours that I absolutely love youtube for..where else can you turn on an electronic gadget and instantly be connected with a fellow hobbyist all the way in England from Chicago? I love your videos Dan keep up the great work(if you want to call it work)I have never actually been metal detecting but I did manage a metal recycling center for a couyple years and am currently working on a pulse induction circuit with 555 timers.
Dan, First, I want to thank you for your feelings and thoughts on keeping that beach cleaner... Second I want to kind of light a fire under your behind about it. That area you live in is a WORLD TREASURE. I live in Montana in the United States and I think about England and it's beauty ALL the TIME. It is a DREAM of mine to one day visit her and see her beauty. To stand on that beach would be VERY meaningful to me, but it BREAKS my HEART to see it in such a state. To see those bottles and cans and the litter is just unconsonable. That looks to be a relatively small area, something that your community COULD keep clean. It IS UP TO YOU to keep it clean. You guys need to not only clean it, but put in place regulations that make it illegal to litter on the beach, with harsh penalties, and enforcement of said regulations. DO WHAT IS NECESSARY to fix that problem NOW. YOU MUST. It is UP TO YOU. The world is depending on YOU to care for this WORLD TREASURE. DO WHAT YOU MUST DO. Here in Montana I was taught since childhood "pack it in, pack it out" which means if you go into the woods you leave NOTHING but footprints and biodegradable toilet paper. There is a very special way you go to the bathroom so that it has as little impact on others as possible, BUT, you NEVER leave your trash in the woods, you ALWAYS pack it out with you. Even burning it is unacceptable (unless it is paper products). We have a CULTURE which makes environmentalism the norm, and EVEN with all this, we still have litter problems along our highways! Humans are just dirty creatures. But please, Dan, do what you must to clean up that beach. It is just TOO beautiful to be left in that state. THANK YOU, from a HUGE fan in Montana!
***** I think you misread my comment. I was illustrating the culture in Montana, the pack it in pack it out idea and how we handle the bathroom issue, not asking him to do the same. All I asked him to do was follow thru with cleaning up the beach. Sorry if it does come off a little too demanding. Never mind. Screw the beach. I'll come over and help you guys fuck it up. Sounds like fun. (obviously tongue in cheek at the end there - in case you didn't catch that either).
Dan U should made a "note to self" in the video. Something like... stay away from bees, wasp, hornets, dogs and even as precaution, stay away from (berlin)boars.
I love it at 14:20 " Anyone getting into the hobby must know that you gotta be patient and keep you fingers crossed that something will turn up .. P.S. It usually doesn't ". HA! So true though.
The first time I got a detector I went out in the back yard to try it out. After 20 minutes I had $4.60 in silver quarters and silver dimes. I looked right where an old clothesline was and hit the jackpot with a gold ring. A couple of years later I was in Florida and was pulling up jewelry like it was growing there and managed to find a 1714 Spanish coin. However that is not happening all the time. Exactly as you describe, you can spent 10 hours on a beach and find nothing but junk. One thing I learned though is keep the aluminum cans etc. and turn them in for scrap by the pound. They are actually worth keeping. At least they help pay for a beer or two. lol
This is the most depressing episode of Deep Digger Dan yet. Bit by a dog, rubbish everywhere and all he finds is old pop tops.. sounds like lyrics to a country song. But I suppose this is the real deal. So i thank you for that.
Well done man. ...stumbled onto this. I'm thinking this would be a great hobby for myself and daughter. On those days when she doesn't have softball games, soccer games or church or deer hunting or when she has to help me work on the truck. ..... this would be a great way to spend time together. Thank you.
14:56 Dunno if anyone pointed out what this thing is yet, but it looks to me like the lid for a chiminea. Someone probably brought one to the beach to have a fire and forgot the lid on their way out.
Great video Dan, as this shows there's not always gold to be found on beaches but have to dig loads of rubbish before rewarded with a coin or ring. Well done mate. Tony
Good video, Dan. You know a lot of the younger folks look to you for inspiration. It's good to let them know not to have unrealistic expectations. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT METAPHOR FOR LIFE: A dirty beach, full of rotten soda cans. Every once in a while life will throw you a pound. :-)
Where abouts is the beach that you're detecting last off? I remember that beach from a holiday when I was young but I have no idea where it is. Looks exactly the same and I remember the yellow machine.
Hi Dan, Love the videos, especially when you're visiting my old hangouts around Flamborough. Regards, that large chunk of metal you couldn't dig up, it was a section of railway track. Good days or bad, your films are entertaining.
The first 5 minutes using my Garrett wand that I bought after watching your videos I went to my back lawn and dug up a penny and a men's wedding band! Some days are easy. Haven't found any rings since though.
Around 5:35 or so, when you were showing your cans, some of the rocks in the background had holes drilled through them. Any idea what they were used for? That could have been some kind of find right there
jolllyroger1 Wow there are loads of those stones on our beach too, ive collected fossils for years and thought they were from worms holes in the mud which then later became mudrock, i would of dug that massive thing out of the sand that was stuck, that looked interesting haha hope the next dig was better x
Dan, Glad you are recovering, great true video of detecting, I just bought mine, don't think too many people do it around here where I live in southern Ontario. Will see what we can find Take care Rob
So cool, real as in real world and thanks for being yourself and just filming. If you're fortunate and can go anywhere I would talk to other folks and see where the (off the wall) interesting, odd, spots to go might be, like in the states its old school sites old building sites, old roads where a mail box might have been, old swimming ponds, demolition sites , ancient roads, old mines and creek/draw/saddles in the northern states. I've no idea in Nevada but they find stuff in ghost towns, enough typing, hey I will be looking for more video, very cool keep it up!
Good video. I do get frustrated sometimes after searching areas where all I find is trash. Then when I find something good it keeps me going. That's why there are a lot of good used, or barely used machines, for sale.
Just subscribed ! +Deep Digger Dan your out of control Funnnnnaayyyyy ! Thanks for all the laughs. Oh and that Bird.... Yeah, he is just taking a Sand Nap.
Your trash to treasure ratio is dependent on where and when you dig. In the summer, pick a beach that is heavily used that day. Go out at low tide and detect to the waters edge. All you will find are coins and rings.
Dan you're the only youtuber that I watch religiously and follow with baited breath. My brother and I did a bit of detecting when he came up to my house in New England. We had days just like you did flat nothing but rubbish. We searched all over the train tracks that were put in around 1912 but just found molten aluminum and some older coins. Then killing time my brother decided to detect my yard. We hit pay dirt!!! Beautiful Victorian silver ring with a proper ruby in the middle. We were very happy, And since I've been watching your vids I'm really debating on if I should get my own detector. Anyways keep up the good work and good vids.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds a bunch of crap. Ahhh. it's still fun trippin around and hopefully having that day where I actually find something worthwhile.
Glad to see you showing some of the garbage finds. My son gets so discouraged when all we find is trash. Haha. Must say that some of the rocks and stones you see on the beaches look awesome.
Very inspiring, we get lots of diapers on our lakes, rivers, and parking lot shores "WalMart". Way to set people straight with their rubbish. Take care DDDan, ttyl HH
In my timespan of digging,I've filled at least 3-5 gal cans of scrap metal, bits &PC's of aluminum, barbed wire, odds and ends of brass, horseshoes,, license plate/Texas-1934 a in great condition.a Cannon Ball, it's a blast getting out and finding a prize.
Yeah, I think back when I was in the hobby as a kid, I found so much junk aluminum that it wasn't even worth the trouble where I lived. Now that I am in the country, I'm finding that I want to get another detector and start again. Most of these places were built in the forties and were abandoned quite a while back. American coins back then actually had silver in them, up until 1969, I think.
I bought my Bounty Hunter Pioneer 550. Went into the woods which is behind our house, the first thing I found was a silver quarter. I was excited and went back inside the house telling the kid. That was the only silver coin I found for the whole year. Oh, I was at this hobby 35 years ago with a White Coinmaster. Recently, I bought a bounty hunter Land Ranger Pro.
The rise & fall of the tide is sinusoidal. It doesn't move much at the top and bottom. It moves most in the middle. One hour either side of high/low tide is referred to as "slack water" The dead bird is a Razorbill.
When I detect the beach I dig 20 to 30 bottle caps or pull tab junk for every coin I find. Mostly bottlem caps, and glass bottles are not even allowed on the beach! The park is just as bad, pull tabs all over the place. The Ace 250 keeps finding these "quarters" that end up being bottle caps 6 to 8 inches deep. I found one over 9! Strangely, I still love the hobby. I keep all the coins in a jar and have another for the jewelry. I show off the finds jar every time someone comes over to visit. They have to think I am mad!
Love the reality check of keeping it real so true there it’s all about the moment and the hunt the good finds are a bonus of lots of putting In the hrs
Beautiful part of the World, my favourite. You're right about the lack of respect tho', I litter pick when I visit, but that's not often enough. Better luck at finding metal treasure next time :)
Thanks for a great video. I have always wondered if it is all the hype people say it is. I think I am still going to get a detector and check it out. I will let you know what I find. Thanks again!
Thanks much, Digger. Am trying to decide on a price point for my first ever detector. Live on New Hampshire seacoast. Good tip there about the shovel. Not to go "bargain basement" on that item.
I enjoy watching your show and done in a nice format. While watching "American Pickers" on the History Channel a thought came to me, that your show would make a nice follow on to AP.
You are so awesome Dan. Watching your videos every day. Have been trying some metal detecting but just found old used cartridges used by the military in the woods.
Cheers from Sweden!
A good honest detectoring video, much better than all the sales blurb you see. Also the deceased was a Razorbill.
I personally love it ! His Accent ads excitement when he's happy
16:03 "Can't get it out, anyone got any ideas?" ... Yeh, Dig Deeper Dan!
Brother i really enjoy watching your videos .....you crack me up !! in a good way :0)
keep diggin Dan God Bless
Dear D D D !

Dan, the round cap at 15:00 is a radiator or fuel cap from a caterpillar tractor, possibly the one in the background??
Glad the dog is okay. lol

Just started myself with a used AT Pro. Found 2 silver rings, some coins and a ton of trash.
i,m considering buying some MD gear, your comment is encouraging,
What’s your email address
@16:11...railroad track marker post driven deep into sand, then cut off below the sand....and left buried....one one will know right?
I agree with Digger Dan. They should clean up the area then post signs to keep people with metal detectors out so the ground doesn't have holes dug and stays clean.

***** OMG TNG no doubt. I LOVE Star Trek: The Next Generation
Largely unintentional & bio-degradable. Humans are meant to be more intelligent; often precious little evidence of this tho'...
Dan U should made a "note to self" in the video. Something like... stay away from bees, wasp, hornets, dogs and even as precaution, stay away from (berlin)boars.
Love this video! Honest and Truthful, the first time I went I found a load of junk but that's how it is!
I love it at 14:20 " Anyone getting into the hobby must know that you gotta be patient and keep you fingers crossed that something will turn up .. P.S. It usually doesn't ". HA! So true though.
you are fun to watch DeepDiggerDan! Thanks for the videos!!
Bravo on the message my friend. Loved the humor and the reality of the hunt. Cheers.

Where can you hunt. Do you have to get permission
This is the most depressing episode of Deep Digger Dan yet.
Bit by a dog, rubbish everywhere and all he finds is old pop tops.. sounds like lyrics to a country song.
But I suppose this is the real deal. So i thank you for that.
That's a shell
Love your videos, man. Many others seem so boring and dirty pirates and you you do with respect for nature.
when you think of how many holes we really dig to find each treasure, or trash it can be alot of work but still the best hobbie
Excellent little informative documentary i like your down to earth approach
So glad the dog is fine :)
Man I had to laugh about that one.
Fair play with the give away.
Looking at detectors right now. This is kind of what I figured it would be. Nice to be outside and at the beach though. Nicely done video!
Funny!! Excited about finding a pencil. I need to get a new pointer, mine died. It lasted a good bit.
Dan , all I can say is better luck next time. Thanks for all the great videos!!!
A very true and honest video, well done sir, hope your face continues to heal.
Well done man. ...stumbled onto this. I'm thinking this would be a great hobby for myself and daughter. On those days when she doesn't have softball games, soccer games or church or deer hunting or when she has to help me work on the truck. ..... this would be a great way to spend time together.

Great bids, I'm just start to do my hunts now. Still trying to figure out how. Awesome the energy you put into your videos.
Whether it's junk or treasure your videos are always great and doing a great thing for the youngsters
14:56 Dunno if anyone pointed out what this thing is yet, but it looks to me like the lid for a chiminea. Someone probably brought one to the beach to have a fire and forgot the lid on their way out.
Oh my. . .those injuries looked quite serious. I hope you get better soon!
Get me self some beer" I'm so glad you said that lol
Well done Dan, well presented, and true metal detecting, how it is some days.
6:35 same with the dutch people im digging so much trash but also a few nice things :) so im not too worried about it
That`s how it usually goes with the occasional good find to keep you going...lol
This is the common days of digging for myself. I have only found one coin and it was a masonic lodge penny of 1902
Liked the vid Dan, i experiance that once in a while, a findles day. But thats the reality of detecting indeed. Thanks man
16:05 is probably a chunk of a warship from the 1,500's and is worth thousands.
Sure...
Great video Dan, as this shows there's not always gold to be found on beaches but have to dig loads of rubbish before rewarded with a coin or ring. Well done mate. Tony

Thank you for the giggles!! :-D
Where abouts is the beach that you're detecting last off? I remember that beach from a holiday when I was young but I have no idea where it is. Looks exactly the same and I remember the yellow machine.
dude keep making videos and u inspired me to metal detect so far i've found screws and old bolts with 12 pence aha !
Hi Dan,
Love the videos, especially when you're visiting my old hangouts around Flamborough.
Regards, that large chunk of metal you couldn't dig up, it was a section of railway track.
Good days or bad, your films are entertaining.
DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE DOG - HE'S FINE!!! LOL!!!! This man's humor KILLS me! XD
That could have been some kind of find right there
***** that is not natural erosion is drilled thru used as anchors for boats
And smaller stones used for anchoring traps and our nets
jolllyroger1 Wow there are loads of those stones on our beach too, ive collected fossils for years and thought they were from worms holes in the mud which then later became mudrock, i would of dug that massive thing out of the sand that was stuck, that looked interesting haha hope the next dig was better x
Cool video!! When will you come to U.S. Come to North Carolina if you do??
i am glad to see you are ok!!!
That Thing looks like a anti tank barrier made from a railroad track. @16:00
Dan,
Glad you are recovering, great true video of detecting, I just bought mine, don't think too many people do it around here where I live in southern Ontario. Will see what we can find
Take care
Rob
A fellow Canadian!
Woodslee Summercraft hey if your near London you should come to the club meets every first Tuesday of every month. Good hunting
I still wish I could find out what was in my backyard. I remember I used to dig up little glass jars, a couple of em where whole.
He says "Bloody cans on the bloody beaches... its a disgrace" - Goes to get beer and leaves them behind ;-)
You are not wasting your time! What you espect to find there? very productive fellow.
Nice!! I metal detect and I am 14 abc my channel is all about metal detecting.
Great video man!
At 16:08 in the video it looks to my like a tank track could be wrong?
when you threw the rock at the bird, oh my god i died laughing
***** what dog was it?
Michael Hadzicki your really rude
So cool, real as in real world and thanks for being yourself and just filming. Good video. I do get frustrated sometimes after searching areas where all I find is trash. Then when I find something good it keeps me going. That's why there are a lot of good used, or barely used machines, for sale.
whats the most expensive item you have ever found?
Just subscribed ! +Deep Digger Dan your out of control Funnnnnaayyyyy ! Thanks for all the laughs.
Oh and that Bird.... Yeah, he is just taking a Sand Nap.
check out my finds at relichunter71 instagram
Fantastic video Dan
Keep them coming mate 👍
cheer mate, beaches are alot more complicated then one thinks. But a big like from us here in Australia goldfinders detecting
I think that mystery object you couldn't get out of the ground is a boat anchor. A modern one.
I like this guy he is honest and does not salt items as most do on U. tube
Probably the most truthful metal detecting video I feel your pain Dan
Your trash to treasure ratio is dependent on where and when you dig. In the summer, pick a beach that is heavily used that day. Go out at low tide and detect to the waters edge. All you will find are coins and rings.

Tides sometimes take 6 or 7 hrs to change. Just an FYI for future treasure finding!
:)
Wow, nice prize that you gave away. Super awesome!
Many places are hunted out these days , from woods to parks to beaches and farmland, most targets are trash ....
Very Funny!! Looks like cool rocks on your beach. I use my metal detector for rocks. I hope you recycle the metals you do find.
In my timespan of digging,I've filled at least 3-5 gal cans of scrap metal, bits &PC's of aluminum, barbed wire, odds and ends of brass, horseshoes,, license plate/Texas-1934 a in great condition.a Cannon Ball, it's a blast getting out and finding a prize.
hey dan i go hunting most times without a detector and i still find junk "oh well" beats watching TV thanks-4-upload
You never fail us with your vids thanks dan from Doncaster madfish
Pan out that black sand Dan.It may have some fine gold in it
Yeah, I think back when I was in the hobby as a kid, I found so much junk aluminum that it wasn't even worth the trouble where I lived. +docchocobo 1964 after that it was alloy and now zinc
"Slug with wings" lol and that black object you couldn't dig up looked like a cannon off a ship to me but idk but resembles one to me!!?
I bought my Bounty Hunter Pioneer 550. Went into the woods which is behind our house, the first thing I found was a silver quarter. I was excited and went back inside the house telling the kid. That's a radiator cap off an old Farmall or Fordson tractor i think. Great vids, thanks.
Thanks for a great video. I have always wondered if it is all the hype people say it is. I think I am still going to get a detector and check it out. I will let you know what I find. Thanks again!
there was a coin on the big thing you found it looks like you didn't see it maybe.
you had 2 large corals next to your tin lids. great video, cheers.
Thanks much, Digger. Am trying to decide on a price point for my first ever detector. Live on New Hampshire seacoast. Good tip there about the shovel. Not to go "bargain basement" on that item.
+Spin Apex Maybe should get a goalie mask too while I am at it. Be well.
Sorry about the Dog attack. Lol , the first 5 mins. Of this video reminds me of most of my digs here in Texas.
I enjoy watching your show and done in a nice format. While watching "American Pickers" on the History Channel a thought came to me, that your show would make a nice follow on to AP.
I have one that was given to me a Discovery 1000 it's like a bounty hunter. I use it to enjoy the moment.
