      it is hard to believe that this was 8 years in development. there is no compelxity to the game.
      i played around 10 hours and i totally agree. the combat is just boring. mash button, wait cooldown, cast skill. thats all.
      the only character progression is by leveling up, not by skill. which i kinda dont like. (i dont how to put it different)
      there is nothing that makes fights interesting. no ,,special" enemy weak points or weaknesses like elements as an example.
      and by watching some videos here and there i cannot see that chaning anytime in my future gameplay, which is sad tbh.

    The boss fights are designed more with MMOs in mind than Monster Hunting. That's why the "downtime" phases exist; go look at raids in something like WoW or XIV and you'll notice similarities.

    • @feiitogaming
      @feiitogaming  6 месяцев назад +1

      You're right and I think that's why it doesn't work that well. Having downtime in action combat is totally fine, but only dodging attacks for a Minute or two isn't very engaging, especially when every single boss fight does this.

      @@feiitogaming Also that is where speed running gets interesting , just like MHA, its too ,actually ,manage to do damage at the worst moments. There are many complexity in the gameplay but they arent obvious to the average player. Ex : dodge cancel, combo combinitation with dodge cancel, timing big dmg combo with "chain link" to make its last hit repeat twice, and much more. You can finish content without maxing your char but that is the bonus rpg part of it. Also good to know that if you perfect dodge, you generate SBA. SBA done well, seperartly, in a team can skip bosses mechanics. The basic of the game are simple, but the room to master is quite big surprinsgly.

      @@feiitogaming thats what you call a boss mechanic. Again the fights resemble the ones you usually encounter in an MMO like ffxiv so you cant compare apples with oranges. Dodging or surviving a mechanic is only boring if you overgear that fight and even in that case Ive seen people facetanking the dmg to continue to dps. The coming fights certainly need to be more challenging and I would argue that this is the main problem of the game currently. Its simply too easy atm.

    you make a good point. MH is fun because the character is grounded with the world, meaning, the gravity, physics, etc. makes it more engaging. Granblue feels like a skill spam, wait for ult, skill spam.
    This game feels more like Genshin Impact imo, without the openworld exploration.

  • @omegaxtrigun

    I disagree pretty much entirely.
    First off, you really are overstating how complex monhun is. It has plenty of depth sure but there are maybe 3 weapons at most I would say are actually complex. Eating food (aka eat chefs specialty for most people) is not complex. Restocking potions from a loadout is not complex.
    Also, relink has plenty of complexity. I dont know how far you are in the game but based on what you talk about and the gameplay shown, it looks like youve been to at most, extreme. There are more complex fights in maniac and especially proud. It is not just bigger numbers. The final boss of proud literally has you using the ship turrets like you suggested. There are dps checks. There’s a boss that changes what it does based on what things you break. etc.
    There’s also plenty of character tech with dodge/guard cancels, timing cc skills to extend damage windows or catch a boss during overdrive but before bloodthirst so you can dps it out of overdrive to skip bloodthirst phases (skipping downtime entirely) or to prevent them from doing certain attacks. There are characters with charge attack parries and others with certain attacks that have guard frames like monhun. Using 2x2 bursts instead of full burst to extend damage windows more and timing that properly to get the most time possible. Timing certain defensive party buffs to avoid mechanics. And people are still finding more.
    I dont know how you can say relink lacks bosses. MHW launched with like 31 large monsters and relink has about the same amount of bosses.
    I find it funny that you say people didnt get bored with MH the same way theyll get bored of relink when I remember plenty of people complaining about getting bored of rng deco hunting endgame in MHW and rng charm hunting endgame in MHR.
    I’m not saying relink is perfect or anything. No game is. But saying “oh it could have been better” is just pointless perfectionism. Every game could be better in some way. Even if someone doesn’t stay for the long haul, you can easily get 60-100 hours just getting through the story and getting one character to the final boss of the endgame. That’s plenty of entertainment value for the money. And we’re getting even more content soon.
    This video is the definition of “looking a gift horse in the mouth”.

    • @feiitogaming
      @feiitogaming  6 месяцев назад +1

      If you say only 3 weapons are complex then we either have a different understand of the word complexity or you haven't played enough MH to see that every weaoon and their handling are more complex.
      I got far into the game - I spent like 55 hours in it and reached the end of proud difficulty. The gameplay is from the early parts of the game for two reasons: first, I started recording footage, then stopped because I didn't think I had the time to review it and second I just try to be careful with spoilers and stuff.
      I didn't say that people didn't get bored with MH, I just said that there's a reason why many people, including myself, spent far over 1000 hours with just one MH game.
      Lastly I don't think sitting down to analize a games design is pointless perfectionism at all. I like GBFR for what it is, I really do. The point I was trying to make is that if just one aspect of the core gameplay loop would have been more fleshed out, then the amount of motivation this game could provide would be extremely high. Or to say it in other words: the game is a solid 8/10 for me (and that's absolutely fine) but it could have been a 9/10 or higher with just a couple of tweaks - that was the only intention I had with this video.

    • @soulward6334
      @soulward6334 6 месяцев назад +1

      I agree with the video. I blasted through every boss fight except bahaumut versa and now stuck at the fire and earth 130 proud dragons as i don't have my ascension weapon yet. Really no strategy difference other than a few boss mechanics that need to be respected here and there. I think the game is very fun and more accessible for casuals to enjoy, and that's just fine. You can min max any game to death and call that compex but this one doesn't require much else but dodging and blocking at the right time and keeping up with the power curve.

    Please remember that the devs have stated that the game was not meant to be a "Live service" game. It was made with a playtime of 60-100 hours in mind. Pick it up, play through it, and farm a bit. From what they have created I'm sure many people will get close to 60 hours and others will grind out that 100. Remember to take a game as it was meant to be before talking about what you want it to be or want from it. Noted they also have stated that if the hype and demand is there they will continue to support it after the dlc and hopefully that is where the game turns into something we all want it to be.

    I think's going to receive a similar treatment to what MH Rise got. Before Sunbreak released, many complained about the lack of endgame and things to do. Then Sunbreak got released while more updates continued to flesh the game out. Endgame was added, plus hundreds of hours more gameplay. GBRF doesn't necessarily need to get a similar expansion but they will continue to update the game, add more bosses, characters, higher difficulty and complex mechanics etc. until it reaches a state like Sunbreak was to Rise.
    The game is still fairly young, and I'd rather be patient and excited for what Cygames have cooking up for us as they continue to update the game. I've spent about 80 hours atm, still going to drop more hours into it. Honestly a very happy purchase for me.

I respect people that like it but its just not for me, felt a bit to shallow for me to enjoy the combat and fighting the same enemy over and over again to farm some material you will need to improve your stats is just not worth it to me. I spent like 1.4k hours in MHW and in hundreds of hours in the older MH games and i never felt like my time was wasted not because i got rewarded with some low % drop rate item but because the fights themselves were rewarding because they were actually challenging i think without that aspect Monster Hunter would basically feel comparable to Granblue Fantasy Relink.

    After putting 100+ hours into the game. It got to a stage where the only way to get better was to roll the dice and try to get an extremely unlikely sigil to boost your stats. I fully maxed 1 character, but if I wanted to do more, it would mean hours of just farming 3 missions repeatedly for materials. I like a good grind game, but at that point, it felt like a farming simulator.

    Great suggestions I couldn't agree more. Sigils, the only actual "stat" system in the game, are just a weak badge system you have to grind to use. At least let players allocate stats that matter. I agree with the difficulty thing you said. I really enjoyed the 4 last bosses bc of their new mechanics and I was hoping the re-run bosses in proud will get new attack and mechanics instead of just more dmg and hp.
    The devs did say the game isn't supposed to be a live service, so you are not supposed to sink 1000h into it. Most people feel that the game doesn't have enought content bc they compare it to MH but to be honest, the only thing base(on realese) MH game have it more enemy variety (26 in relink, 37 in base MHW). For the sake of not writing a whole essay I'll just say I beat both games and I got more out of relink that base mhw, the only thing I would've liked to see is like 3-5 more new bosses in proud.

Like 2 Blizzadile, 3 griffins, 2 Scarmiglione's down the road and end with Pyet A or something. This would be much more challenging as most of the players already has every sigils level 15 and fully awakened Terminus which ends the boss quest in 2 minutes. I love min maxing and I spent 1000+ hrs on MHW+ IB, and I will say not all of those 1000 hrs were fun(specially when it came to grinding lands lol). What kept MH afloat where seasonal events and collabs, without those I wouldnt be anywhere near 1000 hours. And finally I think people should stop fixating on how much "replay value" a non live service game should have, it's ok to stop playing when you're done.

      @@feiitogaming I don't know about "a bit differently" and "can't decide on the game's identity", the systems they have in the game are derivative from the gacha game and frankly it's quite amazing how they were able to translate it into an action rpg. Bosses not having variety is a common problem in every game, even in MH, a lot of bosses were just reskins, and even the skills from the variants are just derivative of their base counterparts, no matter how many bosses you have at the start you will eventually "run out". MH's combat style won't really work for fast paced action games like this, since it's meant to be more methodical and precise. I would say they stayed very loyal to the Granblue franchise despite having based the questing system/structure on MH. I do agree that the story wasn't anything special though, but the same could be said for MH as well. Personally I liked Relink's story more than World and Icebourne combined. At the end of the day I think the video just stems from personal preference, but I do think videos like these sends the wrong message quite a lot, which is "Short game = bad", even though it's not the intention.
      WIth that being said, here are things I would want them to add, whether through DLC or Relink 2:
      - ability to switch your active character in battle(offline)
      - seasonal events
      - collaborations

    100% agree with your points.
    MHW's complexities is what make the game the addicting, where you could do 50 hunts with a weapon, then switch to a different one and it's as if I'd be playing a different game, because your strategies change a lot. I didn't really find enough of a difference between the characters in Relink, as I felt a lot of them basically played the same and I wasn't doing anything different, strategy wise. Which isn't bad at all, but it didn't really feel that satisfying or interesting to me.
    I'm still going through the post game, I think it's fun, but it didn't blow me away.

    variety and complexity are NOT the same thing, its misleading to pretend they are, you're right that the game would be better with more of both but at the same time you overlook it largely being a power fantasy ARPG for the most part, as for the dissidia comparison, that's just wrong, enemies gain power hp and new attacks at higher levels and if surviving came down to just increasing your stats then most players in proud difficulty wouldn't be decorating the floor 90% of the time. at the end of the day its closer in gameplay to Devil May Cry than it is to Monsterhunter

    • @feiitogaming
      @feiitogaming  6 месяцев назад

      I agree and I did not say they're the same thing. Complexity can make up for a lack of variety and vise versa. Imo Granblue Fantasy Relink doesn't have either one of those. Again, that's fine, but the game would be more intriguing if it would either be a little more complex in some regard, or simply have more different things to/ enemies to fight.
      About the Dissidia comparison: idk man, the fact that there's not much depth in how you can play a character, automatically means that stats are far more important than skill imo. On the other hand I admit that it's possible to dodge every single attack if you're skilled enough, so yeah, you're right, there's a certain degree of skill needed to be successful in the endgame.

    I argued someone for these exact same points in another thread. The game has some serious issues it needs addressing. When most people realise every build is terminus weapon + dmg cap x4 +sup dmgx3 + water elemental. The game will die off. Most people will kill proto bahamut and end it there. Even if a new character is introduced, the build for them will be the exact same.... The big draw back to this is dmg caps and resistance caps and defense caps. They need to allow players to get stronger in their own way.

    Valid points for the most part I'd say. It's a great game, but it's certainly not perfect by any means.
    I've found that as a pre-existing granblue player I've gotten more enjoyment, probably due to nostalgia, out of it than friends that didn't play the mobile game.
    In fact i'd call the game a nostalgic game in general, it harkens back to the old days of jrpgs, which is perhaps not surprising since granblues original devs came from square enix back in the day.
    My biggest critique of the game would probably be that the duo fights on the hardest difficulty are challenging yes, but not fun by any stretch of the imagination. Something especially obvious during the ice+wind dragon fight and the twin generals fight. But on the other hand the games big bosses like bahamut versa and proto, as well as pyet-a and the likes are handled quite well and at least for me good fun.
    As for more complex bosses that do more than just make you dodge in the downtime, i've high hopes for lucilius, when he was released on the mobile game he was by far the most complex and difficult fight to the point where (iirc) it took several days for a team to clear him for the first time. You had to take various things into account like team composition, element, damage checks, survival and do several specific things in order to remove very powerful buffs on him.

      The only thing that really harms developing other characters is the sigil grind. Getting perfect sigils for 1 build is going to be worthwhile on other characters and takes about 100 hours, but getting good sigils for 3 ai characters means a looot of grinding.
      Most of your BiS (3 supple, 4 damage cap) will work for every character. Whatever else you use won't matter as much for the content that is available currently.
      Grinding weps is a hassle tho yea. But that's if you think you need perfect gear which you clearly do not right now.
