Behringer Pro-1 *prototype* // Sound demo + modulation & melody exploration
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 апр 2019
- Last year I was testing the Behringer Pro-1 / Pro One prototype and decided to (with permission of course) film some of the process and make a demo of the synth / sound elements and make some melodic sounds to sit the thing in context as well. This is a prototype, some things may change, they may have already changed, but sonically I understand this is finished (or very close to). So here it is, a demo with the prototype Pro-1. Comment away.

Been waiting for a decent demo of one of these for so damn long. Sounds insane!
We had one of the originals when I played synthpop in the 80's. Then the owner decided he was a rocker and sold it. I was so miffed I couldn't afford to buy it off him. Maybe I'll get one of these, because I miss that old Pro One.
NEVER SELL GEAR!
That’s the best demo of this synth I’ve found. Really comprehensive, no nonsense overview. Really made me think of routing options I’d previously not considered on my other synths. I’m waiting on delivery of my pro-1 and after seeing this man I can’t wait!
One fine day Behringer will clone all human beings and give them away for free to aliens 👾
Glim Golg Ogg Fijh Daew!(they already have)
This is the kind of stuff that had me loving my original back in '85 - many thanks and much respect for showing how this unit is capable of so much more than standard filter sweeps.
Just waiting for this to deliver.
Great demo. I learned a couple of new ideas, and I've owned a Pro-One since 1984.
Thanks Uli. Thanks Ben.
Unbelievable! What a great demonstration. Thanks
This is proof that it does us modular folks well to play with fixed architecture synths every once in a while. Also, the Pro is a loved classic for a reason!
Thanks for this ,by far the best demo of this (pro) one i have ever seen/heard.Good explaining too.
I've learned more about how to use synths from this review video than from most tutorials. Thank you!
Own the original and this does sound very good.
I'd love to see you do a comparison on your channel when it's released!
@@theoriginalheartstrummer Happy to if they'll send me one.
agreed, and your Roland vid is off the charts!
Haha it sounds like a toy in comparison.
I used to have an original that I sold to keep up with tuition. The original had a crappy keyboard that would stop working until you adjusted the contacts.
Wow. This sounds amazing in your hands Ben.
Goddamn it sounds good... I really don't want to end up with a studio full of behringer ripoff synths... but resistance might be futile.
The form factor is undeniable,
the price tag is irresistible, and the alternatives (original vintage) are unaffordable...
Good time to be us and Behri!
They would only be ripoffs if the synths they're based on were still being produced. And if their prices were much higher--I'd call them a "bargain" at worst
They are indeed coughing up stuff more often than bars here serving coffee in the morning. Hard to keep up with what they put out. My wish list is getting longer and longer....
@@DarkSideofSynth and more accessible, thanks to their pricing!
BWAHAHAHA! I hear you...I have the Neutron and Deep Mind 12 and it looks like I will be adding another...and then another! :-)
What a time to be creative. I don't even have to choose between this gorgeous clone or their brilliant original Neutron. I can afford both 🎶💙
Fantastic demo, this sounds superb! I was already convinced by Behringer but this really seals the deal!
Thats a winner, sounds incredible!
WowX10000000 this is just pure magic ... I'm buying one for my studio and another one for my bathroom ... X'D
Christian Burgos lol... this really made me laugh. :-P
love what Behringer is doing with these new synths. I already have the Neutron and will for sure get one of these as well
Federico Ascari Whar do you think of it since you had it for a while?
Can it do beautiful sounds, not just raw?
Oh my word...it sounds just like my original Pro-One...all those lovely FM and cross-mod sounds, oooo and that filter... I really was unsure whether Behringer could pull this off, but it seems they have. This is yet another "no-brainer" from the Klonemeisters!
@UnderBridge Rock No it wouldn't surprise me either if Dave Smith/Sequential are kicking up a fuss. I'm not sure how I feel about that though. I own an original pro-one but would love to get my hands on one of these.
@UnderBridge Rock Only time will tell. I loved the Pro6 and OB6 when I got a chance to play them but I simply can't afford them and that's where Behringer come in. Their products sound good, they really do... I have used both the Model D and the Neutron and they sound fantastic, especially given the price. Their gear doesn't have to be 100% exact...in fact no two analogue synth are...but if it's close...that'll do for me.
Good job Ben, sounds veeeery nice!
Powerful! So deep. Amazing what he's coaxing out of it.
Wow..sounds amazing. I'd definitely be interested.
One of the best mono synths. Can't wait to buy one. And the terrific Octave Cat next, please!!!
Really good demo! The Pro-one is really a great synth and this proves it! Got an original, and I am for sure getting one of these!! Thanks.
Nice one Ben! Great patch example
it sounds excellent, love the stuff near the end.
Awesome demo, Ben!
Very useful demo !!! This one is going straigth to my wishlist !!!!
Liked the sounds & potential. Great video, thanks.
This is the best synth demo I've ever seen.
Fantastic sound!
Not like any other demo I have seen, excellent! Really digs into some of the weird little ways this thing can be programmed. The sound from this thing is ballzy as heck! I half expected Vince Clarke to pop his head out!
What a sound, this is just amazing !
Great demo - flexibility wins with synthesis when done right. This does it right.
Great demo Ben! This is really rather great sounding isn't it? I've been more into the original designs than the clones, but this might be an exception... That final patch is killer.
Sounds so lush hope it's ready for release soon 🎹🎹🎹
Lovely vid...good to glimpse you at the Bristol meet last week.
Sounds absolutely awesome.
ok this is getting me interested, I got the model D and the Neutron but this one actually sounds the best of the three at least so far
depends on what you want... the model d sounds like a moog... i get all the lead or kraftwerk sounds i always wanted ;D
This just killed my gas for every thing.. I'm getting one of these
Wowww and of course YOU know how to tweak, such a pleasure, must watch again and again
well the machine speaks by itself. Really impressed
WOW this thing sounds and looks soo good.Another big hit like their Model D.This is so sick, just listen to that filter. Can't wait.Really.
thanks for keeping us informed ... good sounding
Yep. Getting one. No doubt about that!
Pretty cool! Nice, meaty sounds.
Great demo Ben. I have a Prophet 6, but this little monster is an essential purchase. Maybe the best clone yet.
Sounds just like the one I owned 20 years ago. I will definitely be buying one of these.
It sounds amazing.
the sequence you used for this demo was super inspiring. reminds me of some autechre tracks
Garbage
is a good release.
sounds fantastic, even dry without fx
Awesome demo Ben . Been looking forward to the pro 1 for ages hopefully the 2600 will follow 👍👍
@@ArtFluids lets hope so I would love the 2600 and will definitely be getting the pro1 👍
I don't know about you guys but... I never been so in love in this way before!!!
great demo
Holy shitballs, awesome demo! That sequence
It sounds sick ! good job behringer
The bass sounds really really good
I had an original Sequential Circuits Pro-One back in the very early 80's. I didn't understand how to use it properly back then. I will be getting one of these. I've watched several demos of this synth in the last few weeks. This is by far the best one so far. It could be used not only as a demo of the pro 1, but as an introduction to synthesis
Thank you for the kind words, glad it's been helpful.
Sounds nice!
Awesome video...very instructive thanks
I can’t wait! I’ve got a eurorack case just big enough to fit this and my Model D waiting :) it really does sound close enough to my old Pro-1, that I’m ready to buy it on the spot.
i think thats not the best idea to buy eurorack cases that are more expensive than the synths. So rather buy rack-ears for those and mount them in a rack somewhere besides your eurorack
this sounds to much good!
great demo and more great audio rate filtration! Never thought about turning off key tracking for that sort of thing.
to my ears the filter behaves differently to the original - more overall body with the res turned up
dooooope. i regret watching this - now I want one. Getting a very Jon Hopkins vibe from the sequence.
i have a pro-1 and now i want one of these..what is wrong with me..? haha
@TrewayLike the original actually...
I'm with you on this, Bruce. I also own a Pro-one but really want one of these! Oh my, I can't wait!
the goddamn toy store syndrome
Well I got their 101, mine is having a few issues with a dead key and a PSU that is going so there is some tuning stability issues and has midi which is nice as well.
The sequence sells it. Giving me those Blank & Jones, binary finary feelings. I'm holding off on synth buying at the moment, but this does sound nice. Modulation routing is great.
Charles N bang on with the comparison man !
Sounds great no doubt
Very cool!
Gorgeous...
Thanks for explanation on the Mod Matrix, I was just so confused but, now understand much better and gonna play with it. 🙂
happy to have helped
Good job!
good video, mate!
I am so eager for the Pro-1!
I need this synth today!
Damn this sounds really nice.
I suppose the internal sequencer couldn't produce this nice sequence, great capabilities thanks for vid Div
Awesome demo, thanks! Can't wait to get my hands on this thing! (that's what she said)
Thanks, this one will go in the log books.
it sounds GOOD
Thanks for a solid demo of the sounds. This is the Behringer clone I'm most interested in, though there completely new mono for $200 stole some of the thunder out of nowhere.
I swear, I’ve never been more eager for a company to get something on the shelf as I have been waiting for Behringer to get these things released!!!! This is possibly the first thing in my life where I’d consider sleeping in a tent on a sidewalk to get in line for so I can buy one on the day of the release. Do it already Behringer the waiting is killing us!!!!
you lucky blighter, Ben..Jealous!! This is top of my list at the minute..to go with the D and the Neutron..love where Behringer have gone with all of these retro synths
8:33 "Ohai, Mr. Clarke."
Best company to my neutron and skulpt. This mono will be always trendy sounding so snappy
Yeaaah Space is the place, very very good sound.
Great Video..
I wish more reviews were as pragmatic.
Thanks
So identical. WOW. WOW. WOW.
The raw oscillator sound does that thing to my brain that good oscillators do. Makes me feel weirdly floaty. I approve.
And great video btw!
Loved this demo, wanted to hear some polyphonic sounds though!
nice Demo our kid! ;-)
Wow! Definitely sounds like the real pro one I played. God damnit I want it so bad!
cool video!
one of the most sexy fm patches ever heard to my ears.... My tracks want babies from you!!!
Nice.thanks !
lovely job on the sound design here Ben!
Nice! Bout to pick up a Pro 2 and this will be an amazing pairing to CV sequence. Old meets new
That will work killer. I used to sequence my ARP Odyssey with my Pro-2 and run the Odyssey's audio through the Pro-2's filters and envelopes, and tweak it at both ends. Heaven.
@@spanishmackerel Nice, yeah I honestly wanna get a couple of the Behringers. I also have an Analog Four MKII which has 4 CV outs. I could have a Behringer D, Pro One, DSI Pro 2 and A4MKII running all at once no problem. Ultimate mono synth combo!
@@fray3dendsofsanity I'm gonna try to limit myself to the Pro-1 and possibly a Deep Mind of some sort for lush pads. I've sold off everything except my Waldorf Blofeld, which I can't bare to part with. Oh, and maybe I'd like try that 808.... who knows tho, the 808 and Pro-1 might not come out for years.
The Pro one was my first synth, I had to keep a guitar tuner hooked up to it to keep it in tune because it drifted. Does this one drift in tuning?
Great job again Behringer!
And regardless of what people will think of the synths that Berhinger brings to the market, remake, cheap , whether it sounds the same or not ....
Tthey do prove that they are able to market equipment with a high entertaining value for little money!
They will make a lot of people very happy with their new approach on synths, and I must confirm that I have a lot of fun with my Neutron & Model D
The Pro 1/One filter sweep always makes me think of a pair of floating, disembodied m, smoking electric eyes ready to blast again.
