I'm already a member of Mike's school and I cannot wait to paint this tutorial! He's talented, yes, but I know from being his student for the past 3 years (and following on RUclips longer) that a tonne of time and effort has gone into learning to paint like this. Now that he's done all the long hard work (learning from his mistakes and finding the corrections) he teaches us to paint in a really relaxed and calm environment. Before I joined his school I watched many other tutorials/teachers on RUclips and always felt a lot of anxiety...Mike has a way of making you feel chill while painting. I like that he's not an "art snob" and doesn't diss other kinds of painters/art etc. He doesn't say stuff like, "If you're not using a lot of paint and broad brush strokes you're not a true artist and you're not really painting!" He also doesn't state that his way of painting is the only way. He's a fantastic teacher. If you're on the fence, take the leap. I failed every art class in high school, I can't draw worth beans, but the paintings I finished using his tutorials turned out amazing. And then I took the knowledge he gave me and painted my own pictures. Sorry for going on about it, just want you to know that if I can do it, anyone can!!!

Sometimes when I'm painting my own picture, I will put on his videos just to listen to him speak while I paint. Not in a creepy dirty old woman sort of way. lol There's something very soothing about his voice and his attitude towards painting. It can change my state of mind from "OMG how am I gonna do this? I can't do this! I'm gonna mess this up!" to "Well, let's just see how this goes. It could be good.And if it's not, as long as I'm learning that's what matters." Big sigh. Know what I mean?

I'm also an antique subscriber to his channel in both ways, from 2018 watchin every single video each a few times (especially revellin in his humor) but I'm also hedgin antique 70. Back in me 20's I had gallery showins but life from 30 on twisted me worse than most yoga positions, hence 🚫 paintin. Never unraveled til retired age 65. Thence 2 back-to-back hurricanes flooded me house and stole me works; only survivers twere at me son's. One day he whispered, "mom, get back into paint again,". Who could resist. So I surfed RUclips for a mate-painter & Mikey popped up. Need I say more. Right up me alley, darn good artist, darn good man, darn him he makes me laugh again. He paints liken I use to, oddly coincidence. So, I've been refreshin me brushin ways and kissin the Blarney Stone tho must admit hafta keeps me ribs bound for all the deep throat gigglin he puts me through. Aye, his voice matches him handsomeness, I've been waitin to see ifn 1o his boys becomes a clone, bless his wife! Oops, aye, I blather too much meself. But eh, you-n-me don't mind advertisin Mikey, he's a hard worker with ton of patience and joy. So fly Marie fly! No shame uponya!
Speechless, Mikey! We mainly have yippy-yappy coyotes in our area that reak havoc on neighborhood cattle and exotic ranches especially during baby season. There is one lone fella that ranches wolves, travels USA taking some with him to teach about them. They're a quiet bunch til an emergency vehicle wails thru setting off their song of their people in perfect harmony. Ahhh, the wild west never dies. Sure am fond of your new pet, exquisite hair both short and rowdy. May I say you're a daring chap, popping in right under his jaws. Missing anything? Grateful for this full length inspiring video! I paint greenages but it's a hoot for me to sprinkle in old west scenes, this character of yours will definitely boost the detail workings. Hats off to ya! 🤠

I hear you Gerry. Coyotes are dangerous, I've lost enough pets to them while living in the bush. The only more dangerous creatures around me were human. He also makes them look serene in his paintings. ;-)

I've noticed in numerous videos you've posted, you have learned, have an innate ability, or have inherited from Dad, or all of the above,😀 to be able to nail the base color of the area your working on very accurately. Bravo! And, Thank you for teaching and sharing your knowledge!! 🙏

I never thought I would see you do animal portraits. I see you use very small brushes. I was watching to see if you got the coat patterns correct. I do pencil, color pencil and pastel portraits since the 1970’s. I have not painted too many portraits. But you got the coat patterns correct.
This is next level STUNNING! It looks like you definitely have it down, but have you ever tried rake or grainer brushes for fur? I'm trying to get the hang of them to hopefully cut down my painting time, but even using the 1/4" ones I'm just not getting the definition i want. Any tips?🤔🤞🤞🤞

Nice work! I often had to draw dogs. The owners were in a situation where their dog was very sick and needed expensive surgery to survive. They then decided to have him euthanized and have him portrayed.
If that doesn't look like an actual wolf prowling in the snow, I'll eat my hat! I'm sure you could make someone jump by framing that in a window at just the right height somewhere! ====================================================================
