not really. there's a few dud songs on it. Love On The Air is cheesy as all hell. Blue Light sounds like some Robert Palmer nonsense. lyrically the album is pretty weak. quite possibly the worst album Gilmour's been involved in. his first solo album is much better than this
Different. Not better. If an artist keeps on doing the same thing, he or she will be called a one trick pony. Suppose the Beatles would have gone on in the I wanna hold your hand tradition, and some fans would have called that too "better" ?
They're both good. While his first solo album is a bit more raw and edgy with some great jams, his second is nicely polished and refined but also with some great jams!

An excellent album. Have David Gilmour and Roger Waters ever thought of playing together? They could call themselves Pink Floyd, or something. So sorry they missed each other.
Once again, one of their solo records prove they are greater than the sum of their parts.none of them ever came close to having an album as good as one of the big 4 Floyd albums.
Gilmour was so valiant in escaping the shadow of the Wall. Waters was such a fvckin ass. They practically killed Wright and Mason with their ill end. Am i wrong? RiP, Rick Wright. Probably I'm wrong, but it feels Wright.
Waters is very strange guy , that's for sure, assholish, eccentric, he was bashing people who were taking lsd, -but he's very dedicated, workaholic, if Syd didn't loose his mind he would probably leave the band and make his own that would be probably good as Pink Floyd or would he and Dave kick Roger out of the bend , so would we have in any case two great bands.

I caught him there as well. I heard he won’t play in Detroit again. Don’t know what happened. Too bad for us and his fans. Would love to see him for sure.
The lyrics of Cruise are deliciously frivolous, even if I was and still think it has been a good move to counter the Soviet SS 20's with Pershings and Cruise Missiles: OK, it was a ridiculously costly move, but hey, it led to the fantastic INF treaty in the end. And to a fine and interesting subject for my Master thesis while at the university. But I love the funny Gilmour approach of the subject, much more fun than the one of those shaking an indignant "Peacenik" index finger right under your nose if you even dared to disagree with their peace and love utopia. Great album in general, different than the first one for sure, but super interesting and for different reasons entertaining ! I'll never sell my copies !
Just got into this Album, it's an 80's fever dream to say the least. Aside from the Pink Floyd inspired chords and progressions which bleed through at times, this is Gilmour coming out of the box in that era with something really new and interesting. I love the Album, the only thing for me is that I haven't really gotten used to it so to get it in rotation I need to hear it a few more times. Gilmour is a talent no matter how it's sliced. So glad I got this on Vinyl too.

The Who played Wednesday night in Sacramento. I think I was one of a handful of people that was majorly bummed that Pino Palladino wasn't touring with them. While John Button is a solid bass player. Pino is among the best bass players ever.
I had the Cassette and LP of this Album. Original covers I am using for my Flip files. I am glad that most of Pink Floyd fans agree that David Gilmour is Pink Floyd. Richard Wright is just as good. Syd Barrett is actuall Founder but it is Gilmour and Wright taking lead as Pink Floyd and solo. Roger Waters wants to take over and only his way is to be. Gilmour is a humble living legend.
