Sweet. In the last month of my dad's life we listened to a lot of music together. Sometimes his, a Beethoven piano concerto for example, sometimes mine. One night I put Dark Side of the Moon on. He smiled and said "I like this." But the really important thing was that he had a brain tumor and he had already been having trouble communicating. It was easy to guess that he was just totally out of it. As we listened to DSOTM we were holding hands... when the voice comes on saying "I ain't afraid to die; I can go anytime" (paraphrase) my dad squeezed my hand. Me and my mom/sisters knew he was going to die already, but me knowing that he understood this meant so much.

Pink Floyd (from begining of 66/67 to mid 80's) and Hawkwind (from 1970 to mid 80's especially) have both writeen and played the most powerful music and lyrics of all. I’ll never forget it either, and I wasn’t born until 1975!!! My Dad was there, he’s told me about it over and over throughout the years. These songs are time machines for me.
No! They opened up with The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967) when there was Syd Barret(left in 1968) in the band. They released ''Obscured by Clouds'' in 1972...The Band first was formed in 1964
My copy is 49 years old! Bought it in 1973 right after getting DSOTM. I was 13 years old. Music was magical in those days. Today’s music not so much of a mystery. Pink Floyd still has that mystery and magic every time I listen to them.
60's and 70's music was inspired by Lsd, and the counterculture against vietnam. we lost our spine somewhere along the way to today. ive done more than my fair share, as i believe there is something to be gained from the experience. im only 39 myself but that era of music speaks to me.
I bought my copy in 1973 also. I discovered it by accident at the record store and I'm puzzled to this day why the album or the movie (which in my opinion isn't very good) didn't get any promotion that I can recall. It's a great transition between Meddle and Dark Side of the Moon!
I think, and I could be wrong, that they once were great and had a good time with that greatness but went in the wrong direction in '76-'77. Of course they have still managed to come up with some great tunes but really? the Floyd at their best went from '69-'75. That's about it. Move on; everything else is negativity and craziness. Please take care and God Bless.

That traditional song starting at 38:06 (during Absolutely Curtains) is a Mapuga dirge (sad song) commonly sung at funerals. I was an anthropologist, studying Mapuga (and other) tribal languages, customs, and culture in West Papua in the late 1970s. Roughly translated, the words are a haunting refrain of “Oh my father, my father, where will I go now? Oh my brother, my brother, where will I live now?” The chanting continues in that spirit. The men and women dance slowly and separately. The men and women typical cover themselves in mud and red clay. No feathers etc. as this is a mourning and not a celebration. The corpse is raised in a tree platform about ten feet off the ground. The men and women mourn dance in circles below the body. If the chief or head man has died suddenly, often the men carry spears or axes, in readiness for war. Often the women attach many leaves and branches of trees to themselves and slowly sway them. It’s quite a memorable event for an outsider to behold.
Thanks for the comment. Since you were in West PNG, do you know anything about the Trobriand tribe of Kiriwina Island of the East Coast of PNG? I am very interested in that tribe. I have studied the work by Polish anthropologist Malinowski concerning the Trobriand tribe. I love his statement that the Trobriand children are the happiest children on Earth. 🥰
I left the north of Pakistan in 1989 and made my way to Chapora in Goa-which in those days was no more than a small villagefor a much needed rest having had amoebic dysentery in northern Pakistan. It was an awful journey but when I finally got there someone was playing Obscured by Clouds in a cafe and just as I gazed at the first beach with coconut palms on it that I had ever seen ,the track Absolutely Curtains' started. Whenever I play that track it all comes back to me......What a great album.
I was 15 yo when I bought "Obscured by clouds" in 1972-73. It was the soundtrack of Barbet Schroeder's film "La Vallée" with his very pretty wife Bulle Ogier. Incidentally, this movie gave me the New-Guinea fauna virus, for the rest of my life. At 18, I made my first solo trip to PNG. Back then, Port Moresby was already a cut-throat. I then visited Lae and Bulolo but I missed Popondetta. Most of the time you had to fly Air Newguini. The road to Mount Hagen being just opened, I travelled to the Highlands by truck. Then Madang, Wewak and Vanimo. After my PhD, I made more trips to New Guinea, and ended up working in rural development for the next 25 years in the western Indonesian part (Irian Jaya). "Obscured by clouds" is actually the feeling you have in the pristine primary forest when you wake up and see networks of valleys downhill covered with white mist under blankets of dark clouds announcing the next rain. A wonderful soundtrack anyway. Popol Vuh also composed the music of "Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes", one of Werner Herzog's masterpieces. A must-see, with a magnificent Klaus Kinski. As to Klaus Schulze, he made "Body Love" (Blanche), a very nice record for a trivial porn movie. May our dear KS rest in peace. Amen.
I'm also a big fan of NG although haven't been fortunate enough to visit yet myself, it's in my top 2 or 3 dream trips along with Madagascar and Borneo.
Oh yes I remember what I really wanted to say lol, but I found the title of the last film you cited a familiar one, and although I know the director of the film you meant, I haven't seen much of his work, maybe one....but there is also a semi porno arthouse film from 1973 with the BODY LOVE title, original in Italian. Stars Mimsey Farmer from MORE. It's the one film from her career she apparently declines to discuss, and I have not seen it myself although I have most of her available films on physical media, with one or two still just MP4 s.
The RING OF FIRE book and PBS series, in particular THE DREAM WANDERERS OF BORNEO really helped cement my interest in anthropology and I did take a handful of electives as a biology undergrad, and one that was grad level too.
@@petescare13 Hi Pete! Body Love music is by the late Klaus Schulze, 1977. I've never seen the movie. The music is great, it's early KS as Timewind, BlackDance (my favorite) and Moondawn...

50 years ago today, this album was released. Definitely the middle child, between Meddle and DSOTM, but undeniably an underrated gem in the line up. Happy 50th, Obscured By Clouds!
@@mgronda410 “The Wall” is tenth rate compared to “Obscured..”! Don’t get me wrong, the good stuff on “The Wall” is as great as they’d ever done, but it’s overwhelmed by far too much dross. There’s about a third of that album that’s pure genius, and 2 thirds dreck. “Animals” was the last 100% classic Floyd album.
I don’t know why people keep saying that this album doesn’t sound like the rest of PF. You can absolutely hear little bits of what would eventually be songs like: Shine On, Brain Damage, Us and Them, Time, and even stuff from The Wall. It’s an amazing piece of history leading up to one of the most legendary album runs of any musical act ever.
If you listen to pre Dark Side Of The Moon, this is definitely Floyd through and through. I also suggest listening to the only two Barrett solo albums he wrote after getting booted from Floyd. Very much like early Floyd, understandably. (Those two Barrett albums were helped along by David Gilmore and Roger Waters and also produced by those two guys.) Check out PInk Floyd "Atom Heart Mother" and compare the similarities to this excellent album.

So underrated. I was 13 when I bought this album. I had only owned Beatles and Stones albums before this one. Floyd's Obscured by Clouds was my doorway into so much more great music.
I personally think this is the best Pink Floyd album ever! Not to take away from their later albums, but this one just gets me. It was written as a soundtrack for a French movie "The Valley" but the band fell out with the film company, prompting them to release the soundtrack album as Obscured by Clouds.

i love this album but kind of disagree... I find it very odd in between Meddle and DSOTM... I think their soundtracks are a separate category unlike anything else they did
@@martyconroy3786 Yes....with OBC they were still evolving and yet maintained the groove allowing, like Meddle, the PF sound to stand out. Unfortunately, the album was not given the credit it deserved. Bloody hell...just listen to that opening track: Monumental!! Once they made DSotM, they moved into a new era. To many, they became the 'new' band. To those who were with them from the very start, it was simply their next progression. "Obscured by Clouds" by Pink Floyd is a captivating journey through sound and emotion. Released as the soundtrack album for the French film "La Vallée" in 1972, it showcases the band's remarkable ability to craft immersive sonic landscapes that transport listeners to distant realms. With its dreamlike melodies, ethereal instrumentals, and introspective lyrics, the album takes listeners on a mesmerizing exploration of the human experience. From the hauntingly beautiful "Burning Bridges" to the mesmerizing title track "Obscured by Clouds," each song invites listeners to delve deeper into the complexities of existence. One of the remarkable aspects of "Obscured by Clouds" is its seamless blend of rock, folk, and psychedelic elements, a signature style that Pink Floyd has perfected over the years. The album serves as a testament to the band's innovation and creativity, cementing their legacy as pioneers of progressive rock. Overall, "Obscured by Clouds" is a timeless masterpiece that continues to captivate audiences with its transcendent melodies and profound lyrical themes. It stands as a testament to Pink Floyd's enduring influence on the world of music and remains a cherished gem in the band's illustrious discography.

This and 'More' my favourite Pink Floyd albums. Great production with a warmth, not too clinical, great combination of sounds and tunes, very human moods. Used to have the albums back to back on a C90 cassette and loved listening to it doing jobs. Thanks Pink Floyd.
Think I bought this one in 1988 at 19 yrs old. Always loved it. Not long ago, a friend and I went on a trip, figuratively. He, having very little experience, turned on the TV. I watched the smile drop from his face in seconds. I started digging until I had assembled enough equipment to play an actual record. The 5 minute miracle I call it. Pulled this out and within minutes my friend was weeping with joy. Complete 180 degree about face. He had no exposure to anything like the ethereal melodies contained herein. Experience saved, another sole enriched. Pure bliss.
Lyrics: Obscured by Clouds: (Instrumental) When You’re In: (Instrumental) Burning Bridges: Bridges burning gladly, Merging with the shadows, Flickering between the lines. Stolen moments floating softly on the air, Born on wings of fire and climbing higher. Ancient bonds are breaking, Moving on and changing sides. Dreaming of a new day, Cast aside the other way. Magic visions stirring, Kindled by and burning flames rise in her eyes. The door stands ajar, The wall that once were high. Beyond the gilded cage, Beyond the reach of ties. The moment is at hand. She breaks the golden band. The Gold It’s in the…: Come on, my friends, Let's make for the hills. They say there's gold but I'm looking for thrills. You can get your hands on whatever we find, Because I'm only coming along for the ride. Well, you go your way, I'll go mine. I don't care if we get there on time. Everybody's searching for something, they say. I'll get my kicks on the way. Over the mountains, across seas, Who knows what will be waiting for me? I could sail forever to strange sounding names. Faces of people and places don't change. All I have to do is just close my eyes To see the seagulls wheeling in those far distant skies. All I want to tell you, All I want to say is count me in on the journey. Don't expect me to stay. Wot’s… Uh the Deal: Heaven sent the promised land Looks alright from where I stand 'Cause I'm the man on the outside looking in Waiting on the first step Show me where the key is kept Point me down the right line because it's time To let me in from the cold Turn my lead into gold 'Cause there's a chill wind blowing in my soul And I think I'm growing old Flash the readies wot's... uh the deal Got to make it to the next meal Try to keep up with the turning of the wheel. Mile after mile Stone after stone You turn to speak but you're alone A million miles from home you're on your own So let me in from the cold Turn my lead into gold 'Cause there's a chill wind blowing in my soul And I think I'm growing old Fire bright by candlelight With her by my side And if she prefers we will never stir again Someone sent the promised land And I grabbed it with both hands Now I'm the man on the inside looking out Hear me shout 'Come on in. What's the news and where you been?’ Cause there's no wind left in my soul And I've grown old Mudmen: (Instrumental) Childhood’s End: You shout in your sleep Perhaps the price is just too steep Is your conscience at rest if once put to the test? So all aboard for the American tour, And maybe you'll make it to the top. But mind how you go. I can tell you, 'cause I know. You may find it hard to get off. You are the angel of death And I am the dead man's son. He was buried like a mole in a fox hole. And everyone is still on the run. And who is the master of fox hounds? You shuffle in the gloom of the sickroom And talk to yourself as you die. Stay: Stay And help me to end the day. And if you don't mind We'll break a bottle of wine. Stick around And maybe we'll put one down, 'Cause I wanna find What lies behind those eyes. Only the Floyd could casually put out this album and then ignore it. Opening track alone would be a major achievement for typical prog rock bands. The more I think about the back catalogue of Floyd, the more I feel I was so lucky to belong to that age group when the band was active in the studio and on stage.

few people to this day who think they know what Pink Floyd was up to long ago, take heed. The 1st two tracts of Obscured by Clouds and 2nd When You're In were meant to be played together in duo channel mode on song in left and other in the right speakers at the same time for the truly transcendental effect to occur. Try it and find out for yourselves now that you know finally heheh

You know what's overrated? David Gilmour. He wasn't even a part of the band until their 4th album, and he was barely on the last Syd album, apart from a few guitar licks. Now apparently the entire band was about him.

Uma boa forma de não menosprezar outras bandas é não colocar PF na categoria "rock progressivo", já que isso faz da categoria uma competição injusta, Pink Floyd é de subgênero próprio
'cause his carreer as a guitarist is much more remarkable... His singing is incredibly beautiful, but the way he play his guitar is absurdly outstanding, soothing, touching, mind blowing, mesmerizing and orgasmic if you allow me to say it...

I’ll never forget it either, and I wasn’t born until 1975!!! My Dad was there, he’s told me about it over and over throughout the years. These songs are time machines for me.
Wish I could have been there with you watching that. Pink Floyd is always a great show no matter what decade
No! They opened up with The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967) when there was Syd Barret(left in 1968) in the band. They released ''Obscured by Clouds'' in 1972...The Band first was formed in 1964
@@hayatikzlkan2954 No! they opened up with Roger Waters being born in 1944. then Nick, Rick..... then Syd and Dave were born last.
My copy is 49 years old! Bought it in 1973 right after getting DSOTM. I was 13 years old. Music was magical in those days. Today’s music not so much of a mystery. Pink Floyd still has that mystery and magic every time I listen to them.
Right On!
60's and 70's music was inspired by Lsd, and the counterculture against vietnam. we lost our spine somewhere along the way to today. ive done more than my fair share, as i believe there is something to be gained from the experience. im only 39 myself but that era of music speaks to me.

Today's pop music is very designed and often overproduced. I lost contact totally.
Music then was more introspective imo
I bought my copy in 1973 also. I discovered it by accident at the record store and I'm puzzled to this day why the album or the movie (which in my opinion isn't very good) didn't get any promotion that I can recall. It's a great transition between Meddle and Dark Side of the Moon!

I don’t care what people say. Pink Floyd is the best band ever. Every song every chord speaks to a true Floyd fans heart.
I 100% agree.
What do people say?
@@Make-it-so99 lots of things I suppose. I do believe that a lot of dislike for Floyd is their "weirdness and depressive" music.
I´m totally agree with you, when you listen their songs you just transport to your inner soul´s voice.
I am 21 Years old, could've died by now but I found pink Floyd first, I am blessed
I'm 70 and your comment rings true in my life also.

I mean, if we were all allowed to do that at 6-8 yrs of age, the world's children would all be very happy!! 😊
thank you for the information
Soft, dreamy underrated album. Nostalgic and innocent. Full of introspection.
Well put..

You're right, and I geuess it's the one Nick Mason taking the lead ;)
I left the north of Pakistan in 1989 and made my way to Chapora in Goa-which in those days was no more than a small villagefor a much needed rest having had amoebic dysentery in northern Pakistan. It was an awful journey but when I finally got there someone was playing Obscured by Clouds in a cafe and just as I gazed at the first beach with coconut palms on it that I had ever seen ,the track Absolutely Curtains' started. Whenever I play that track it all comes back to me......What a great album.
Damn bro, sounds like you've had an interesting life. Tell me some more?
Pink Floyd por siempre ! La mejor banda de rock progresivo del mundo!
Nice story brother, hope you're well, rock on.

Wow. LightWarrior I see you !? 🌬️🤍
@@petescare13 Have you heard of Douchan Gersi ? He wrote a book of his trip along the Mahakan river in borneo a long time ago + some PBS movies. I met him in Bali and stayed in touch until his death a few years ago. Great guy !

I love this more than The Wall. Make no mistake, I love that album too but Obscured by Clouds trumps over it.

Definitely have cigar vibe my guy
even some songs similar to other bands in that era . surprised their's no copyright infringments

Fair, but let's not forget Syd Barrett
Absolutely brilliant album and criminally underrated
Not underrated in the slightest!
@markrae1317 I remember during the 70s this album was hardly noticed after the release of dsotm and wish you were here etc and after that was virtually forgotten apart from the real Floyd fans who knew a lot of the early stuff was absolutely classic up until around the early ninety's when the world really got into the Floyd sound. I was there mate trust and real talent from all the Floyd members gaurenteed that Floyd was always destined to be the legends they are now. Thanks for the interest. Craig. Lifelong Floyd fanatic

I personally think this is the best Pink Floyd album ever! Not to take away from their later albums, but this one just gets me.
Childhood's End
21:45
You shout in your sleep
Perhaps the price is just too steep
Is your conscious at rest
If once put to the test
You awake with a start
To just the beating of your heart
Just one man beneath the sky
Just two ears just two eyes
You set sail across the sea
Of long past thoughts and memories
Childhood's end your fantasies
Merge with harsh realities
And then as the sail is hoist
You find your eyes are growing moist
And all the fears never voiced
Say you have to make the final choice
Who are you and who am I
To say we know the reason why
Some are born some men die
Beneath one infinite sky
There'll be war there'll be peace
But everything one day will cease
All the iron turn to rust
All the proud men turn to dust
So all things time will mend
And so this song will end

Lyrics:
Obscured by Clouds:
(Instrumental)
When You’re In:
(Instrumental)
Burning Bridges:
Bridges burning gladly,
Merging with the shadows,
Flickering between the lines.
Stolen moments floating softly on the air,
Born on wings of fire and climbing higher.
Ancient bonds are breaking,
Moving on and changing sides.
Dreaming of a new day,
Cast aside the other way.
Magic visions stirring,
Kindled by and burning flames rise in her eyes.
The door stands ajar,
The wall that once were high.
Beyond the gilded cage,
Beyond the reach of ties.
The moment is at hand.
She breaks the golden band.
The Gold It’s in the…:
Come on, my friends,
Let's make for the hills.
They say there's gold but I'm looking for thrills.
You can get your hands on whatever we find,
Because I'm only coming along for the ride.
Well, you go your way,
I'll go mine.
I don't care if we get there on time.
Everybody's searching for something, they say.
I'll get my kicks on the way.
Over the mountains, across seas,
Who knows what will be waiting for me?
I could sail forever to strange sounding names.
Faces of people and places don't change.
All I have to do is just close my eyes
To see the seagulls wheeling in those far distant skies.
All I want to tell you,
All I want to say is count me in on the journey.
Don't expect me to stay.
Wot’s… Uh the Deal:
Heaven sent the promised land
Looks alright from where I stand
'Cause I'm the man on the outside looking in
Waiting on the first step
Show me where the key is kept
Point me down the right line because it's time
To let me in from the cold
Turn my lead into gold
'Cause there's a chill wind blowing in my soul
And I think I'm growing old
Flash the readies wot's... uh the deal
Got to make it to the next meal
Try to keep up with the turning of the wheel.
Mile after mile
Stone after stone
You turn to speak but you're alone
A million miles from home you're on your own
So let me in from the cold
Turn my lead into gold
'Cause there's a chill wind blowing in my soul
And I think I'm growing old
Fire bright by candlelight
With her by my side
And if she prefers we will never stir again
Someone sent the promised land
And I grabbed it with both hands
Now I'm the man on the inside looking out
Hear me shout 'Come on in. What's the news and where you been?’
Cause there's no wind left in my soul
And I've grown old

Free Four:
One, two, free, four!
The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in the gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die.
Life is a short warm moment
And death is a long cold rest.
You get your chance to try
In the twinkling of an eye
Eighty years, with luck, or even less.
So all aboard for the American tour,
And maybe you'll make it to the top.
But mind how you go.
I can tell you, 'cause I know.
You may find it hard to get off.
You are the angel of death
And I am the dead man's son.
He was buried like a mole in a fox hole.
And everyone is still on the run.
And who is the master of fox hounds?
And who says the hunt has begun?
And who calls the tune in the courtroom?
And who beats the funeral drum?
The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in the gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die.
Stay:
Stay
And help me to end the day.
And if you don't mind
We'll break a bottle of wine.
Stick around
And maybe we'll put one down,
'Cause I wanna find
What lies behind those eyes.
Midnight blue
Burning gold
A yellow moon
Is growing cold
I rise
Looking through my morning eyes,
Surprised
To find you by my side.
Rack my brain
To try to remember your name
To find
The words to tell you goodbye.
Morning dues
Newborn day
Midnight blue
Turn to gray
Midnight blue
Burning gold
A yellow moon
Is growing cold

Today is 50 years since the album was released. Shine on you crazy diamonds!
Only the Floyd could casually put out this album and then ignore it. Opening track alone would be a major achievement for typical prog rock bands. The more I think about the back catalogue of Floyd, the more I feel I was so lucky to belong to that age group when the band was active in the studio and on stage.
Psychedelic Sundays in the 70,s I was glued to my Hifi
OMG, first time I've ever heard of this album and I'm over the age of 50. Listening to the first track has got its hook into me. Those keyboards are quite nice on track 2. Going down the rabbit hole, and I'm loving it. I'm really loving Pink Floyd so much more in my older age.
Lmao bro. There is alot more unknown Pink Floyd stuff out here. Keep looking and enjoy
Hey there, Craig. I am glad knowing you have found it! Even though it was a soundtrack it is more song oriented than some others and really quite rocking! I got it the year it was released and am sure I have listened to it more than any other PF album. Peace, brother!
So much cool PF music between 1967 & dark side;
This is one of my favorite pink Floyd albums. 💗 have it on vinyl since the 70s
I always heard the magic. And loved the album title
Another great from a legendary band. THE FLOYD. Peace love ☮️ ❤️ 8888
Only IF Waters and Gilmore could just get along and make one more BEAUTIFUL album I'm 37 and ive always remember listening to Pink Floyd whether it was 95x playing it from the 80-90s or my dad listening to them and I've been listening to Pink Floyd before my conception lol my dad absolutely loves PF he's been a fan since they came out
Bands change, they want to do something different.
What a profound experience! I haven't heard this in years, and I just turned 30! Time itself just gets by so quick.. as young as I am, I'm humbled to be sitting here with you guys enjoying it the way I do ❤ Cheers boys!
My favorite PF album! I come here oftem to listen to it, again and again, Over the many years. Thank you for keeping it whole, without interuption.
Never gets old. When all the other music starts to suck, PF is the music I go to.
When this record arrived at home in 1972 my mother thought invaders from Mars landed ! We were so young, i was ten, and indeed we danced like martians !
My favorite PF L.P. record. 'Mudmen' and "Childhood's End" and 'Free Four' are my fave songs on this album. Thank you!
ALL FLOYD ALBUMS ARE AWESOME !
Yes !!!
few people to this day who think they know what Pink Floyd was up to long ago, take heed. The 1st two tracts of Obscured by Clouds and 2nd When You're In were meant to be played together in duo channel mode on song in left and other in the right speakers at the same time for the truly transcendental effect to occur. Try it and find out for yourselves now that you know finally heheh
😂😂😂 soooo true.. us vinyl fans knew all along though 😁😁
Yes a film soundtrack..but wow..a great album written around DSOTM. When Floyd were at their peak. David Gilmours guitar is all over this album. Brilliant and very underrated. Stunning piece of work.
You know what's overrated? David Gilmour. He wasn't even a part of the band until their 4th album, and he was barely on the last Syd album, apart from a few guitar licks. Now apparently the entire band was about him.
@@BeardedDubstep can't deny that after Syd left the band's style changed quite a lot. And it's also undeniable that Gilmour makes you feel every chord
I watched “The Valley” knowing this album was the soundtrack. Kinda weird, not bad, but definitely carried by the Floyd soundtrack.
@@BeardedDubstep lmao the most popular stuff they put out was with Gilmore. I wouldn’t say he was the main member then but certainly had a big impact.
@@duckswearinggloves305 He definitely did. He's an ok guitarist, but the way he plays definitely fits their sound very well. Not skilled, but for sure an excellent fit and an iconic sound.
Bought this in 1972 on vinyl floyd then we’re always in stood alone, in there music world and still now 2021,still here and still can’t get enough of them there music is always been in fashion and will never change there on there own planet musical geniuses 🎸🎸🎸
Their
I saw the Dark Side of the Moon concert in San Francisco 47 years ago while very high on LSD !
I was completely blown away ! Fantastic band ever there was ! Wow !
👌
By far one if not the most underrated album they made
I think this album is insanely underrated. It's the first one I point to if/when someone asks for Floyd suggestions that they may not have heard.
I've been a fan of progressive rock for many-many years, i cant believe i found this album just now
I have been introduced to Pink Floyd in the years 1972-73 of my high school and they are still my number ONE and have listened to all masterpieces many thousands of times..
Minęło 50 lat od premiery i nadal czuje jego moc, siłę, piękno muzyki - genialny!
the memories this ablum brings back from early 70s, are so uplifting, I saw them in72,75 and 80@spectrum,good times, still here at66,Peace
Oh boy the spectrum in Philly first grateful Dead concert 1972
I've never listened to this album! Masterful, delicate and beautiful! Thank you for sharing ✨
This album gives me chills.
PNG would give you more chills. ENJOY
First heard this in its full last summer, listened on headphones outside under the stars on a farm, smoking a bunch of weed. Followed by Meddle. Thats the best night ive ever had listening to music hands down.
Show
também acho, ainda é o meu favorito .... eu tinha em K7.
VOZ SYD FAZ FALTA
Uma boa forma de não menosprezar outras bandas é não colocar PF na categoria "rock progressivo", já que isso faz da categoria uma competição injusta, Pink Floyd é de subgênero próprio
One of the greatest albums of all times
so true!!
Absolutely! Not underrated in the slightest!
So underrated album.
not by me
@@BLU2DBONE it is great! So is Atom Heart Mother.
i agree
Possibly my favourite.
I was 15 years old. En France Pink Floyd était encore inconnu.
David’s vocals are so sweet and soothing……I’ve always wondered why he gets no love in the pantheon of lead singers……..
'cause his carreer as a guitarist is much more remarkable... His singing is incredibly beautiful, but the way he play his guitar is absurdly outstanding, soothing, touching, mind blowing, mesmerizing and orgasmic if you allow me to say it...
@@Ralph_River His guitar playing is reptilian; bypasses your ears and goes straight for your soul instead. That's what makes him totally unique to me. Have loved this music for the last fifty five years. It's my religion.
Pink Floyd's finest Jewel from 1971 72.. I have loved this album since the first time I heard of it but it unheard unseen just because of the name of the band.. and I have loved this album inside now ever since.. back then Pink Floyd was obscured by clouds.. the music you strived for and enjoyed so often..
I bought it in 72. I'm 68 and it's still my favourite. Meddle a close 2nd.
First time ever listening to this album "for real " been a Floyd fan since the 80 s, love Meddle and Atom heart mother...have to listen to this again.....

This album brings back memories of playing it loud on my buddy’s 8 track player , the 70s…
This album honestly fits perfectly between Meddle and The Dark Side Of The Moon. The sound here is almost identical to Dark Side, however it still has an evolution of theme present just like Meddle. Dark Side is essentially this album with an overarching theme and made denser musically
Yes. You can appreciate there are a lot of raw elements in this that would be used to create the more fully developed DSOTM. Looking back it seems rather obvious but I suppose at the time it was released people couldn't know what was to come and thus this album didn't create any headlines.
@@nunuloki Yeah I think its because the album kinda lacks a concept and seems a bit less Floyd like because of that
@@belladonichaze3213 This album is a soundtrack for a film. Just like "More" was.
La Valle'
@@pedrozappa Yes thats probably why it lacks concept
Obscured by clouds------------- Produced in heaven!!
