The reason she was defending him against the cop so much was because she didn't want him to see his ID because he was going to go "missing" soon and that would make her a suspect
I love that, unlike most horror movies, the victim didn't just escape and struggle to run away, but got to kick some serious ass on his way out. So satisfying.
I love films where the character survives by being smart. First there was the ear-plugging tactic, and then the part where he observed the way the brother kept kicking the door closed, which he used to get his leg into stabbing range.
the deer head at the end was two-fold: a callback to the deer at the beginning but also a callback to the conversation they had about the deer when they first got to the house. the dad casually mentions the deer being like pests and how they've been taking over and should be wiped out; it's an allegory for how many white people think black people and black culture are taking over their neighborhoods. also back during slavery, black men used to be called "bucks" so it was sort of poetic justice that the dad was killed with a buck's antlers. there are so many juicy details like that strewn throughout the film if you go back to watch it again. for example, Chris literally picked cotton to save his life (picking the cotton from the chair to stuff his ears so he wouldn't be hypnotized again). the writing in this movie is just brilliant and absolutely deserved the Oscar. bravo to Ninetailedbrush for figuring out the twist before the ending haha
and i felt that when he was tied to the chair and there was a deer in front of him. it was kind of like he was confronting himself. i also remember when he woke up on the first night, there was a lion plushie at the bed side and he turnt it around after the nightmare he had about the deer which plays on the prey and predator aspect of it all. the deer at the start was also hit by a car which made him think about his mom who also passed due a hit and run!
Thanks for the extra inside on the buck. I knew there was more to it. I took it as him entering the situation like a deer in headlines and that she showed no compassion regarding it being hit. Also that Dr. Dad was hunter for trophy purposes. I don’t know the difference between a deer and a buck
Respect to James. He's watched the movie already but keeps redirecting Ninetail's suspicions and theories without giving anything away. Making sure Ninetail enjoys it, without spoiling anything.
There is a powerful but really painful alternate ending where instead of Rod pulling up at the end as Rose is dying, the police show up and arrest Chris. He can’t remember specific details to make clear he was acting in self-defense and the house burned down, so all evidence there is gone. Rod goes to visit Chris in prison months later and Chris is kind of resigned to the fact that he’ll never “get out” of prison because at least he stopped what Rose’s family is doing. Jordan Peele said he ended up using the actual ending because he wanted people to walk away feeling positive and uplifted with Chris as a hero and not as another victim.
I was in the theater positive that the police were going to roll up, incorrectly assess the situation, and shoot Chris. Rose and her family would somehow become martyr-victims while Chris's name is posthumously dragged through the mud. I was thrilled to see Rod get out of that car.
While the alternate ending is what would happen in real life, I do like the happier ending better. I'm not black, so I don't speak for that community - but if there were a similar movie about the marginalised groups I'm part of, I would find the happier ending way more empowering. I and many other marginalised people are TIRED of always being presented as the victim or the aggressor; I can imagine it's really nice to get to be the hero for once.
37:17 - The deer analogy dates back to American enslavement. Enslaved Black people were referred to in deer terms, as "bucks" and "does" You see more predator/prey analogy throughout the rest of the film. The creepy song that plays toward the beginning, "Run Rabbit Run" was a Jim Crow song about hunting Black people in the American south. When Chris wakes up just before getting hypnotized, Rose's stuffed lion is facing him. Lions are one of the primary symbols of Africa, and is considered a dominant animal (predator). After he's hypnotized, he wakes up with it facing away from him.
The symbolism at the end of Chris’s salvation is very deep. Cotton literally saves his life and murdering the doctor with the head of a “buck” is very symbolic as well, given the term was used to describe the bigger slave men. Jordan Peele’s breakthrough masterpiece. Dudes, the brother acts creepy because they’ve done this so many times without fail, they had no doubt Chris was going to be just another victim.
Him PICKING the cotton saved his life.... crazy how that was used, and many actually didn't get it so it was more subtle than I originally thought. I mean saying it it seems very obvious and intentional for the audience to see a black man being held hostage and sold by a white family to pick cotton to save his life.... lol on paper that seems very try hard to use their term.

Fun fact: In the beginning, the weirdo family's son kidnaps lost-in-the-suburbs Keith (who you see later as the Black zombie party guest). I wonder who was giving him phone directions -- Rose? The song playing from the car goes: 'Run, rabbit! Run, rabbit! Run, run, run.' Jordan Peele has confessed his strange terror of rabbits many times. See his 2nd film: Us
Its not even about putting them on the pedestal. The film's an allegory of people who say they are not rasict and still reap the benefits of a system that privileges them and is taking advantage of black people. They could do it to black people, for years without consequences because the system didn't give a damn about the people who went missing. This movie is a piece of art.
Great reaction guys! Nice job Ninetailed brush deducting the whole freaking plot before the twist and James testing his theory all the time with counterarguments lol you guys are great
One of my favorite things about this movie are the subtle miscommunication between the main character and the other black people he meets. The main character uses AAVE (ex. snitch, good to see another brotha out here, etc.) and cultural gestures (fist bump) regularly throughout the film. It's very telling that the other black people aren't in touch with their blackness because they don't understand what the main character means by those things. Examples being Georgina replacing snitch with tattletale and Logan trying to give a handshake when approached with a fist bump. It's subtle but obvious once you know these characters have a white brain and no knowledge of black culture anymore.
For me it's basically about cultural appropriation and it does a marvellous job of capturing. The over enthusiastic white folks celebrating black people/culture wanting to steal the their talents that the envy, whilst having them as subservient slaves. The fact it winds up so many people makes me love this film even more, the truth is too much for a lot of people to handle lol. Great video but tbh I was a little annoyed Ninetailbrush figured the premise so easily, made me feel a right dumbass lol because honestly I didn't see it coming when I first watched it. I thought there was weird mind control stuff going on but to what too what end or true extent??? I genuinely didn't think of that particular outcome. Looking forward to watching your Us reaction.
The first time I watched this movie, I was scared, naturally. I slept with the light on because I didn't want to sink into darkness. But then after getting back from summer break, I attended my English class and learned about satires. And what do you know? Get Out is kind of a satire type movie. After much thinking, aside from the creepy stuff in the movie, Get Out is a great movie. Would I watch it again? Absolutely not. It kind of scared me as a African American. But great job to all the actors, especially the leading actor who stars in Black Panther. Also, I never want to hear anyone stir a spoon in a ceramic mug ever again.
Deer is sort of alluding to Chris. He was a deer caught in the headlights. He was always too afraid to act, with his mom and always backing down when he brought up concerns to Rose. Then he got past that timid deer nature and rammed the deer right into the dad instead of acting like a deer caught in the headlights. Amazing movie by Jordan, one of my all time favorites.
I just realised that coz the Doctor is dead, there is no one to administer and keep an eye on the state of the anaesthetic so the blind guy will wake up eventually.
Bradley Whitford made a very witty observation that between this movie and his role in Handmaid’s Tale he now has an entire career built on male white privilege. He is so good in both roles and the comment really stuck in my mind.
Jordan is doing another movie called Nope about aliens. He wants to do a Gargoyles movie based on the Disney series from the 90s but now Disney doesn’t want to do a movie.
I just saw this for the first time. It's brilliant, the acting and cinematography was great. But it was one of the more disturbing films I've seen and I don't know if I'd watch it again.
How is it that NTB seems to have hardly seen any films, and yet figures out the twist in everything about five minutes in? He should either be a screenwriter, or some sort of quality-checker to make sure your script isn't too obvious. You guys should watch Mulholland Dr. I dare you to figure that one halfway in. I think this film was pretty critical of the so-called "woke" movement, where you have bad guys who can't stop proclaiming how much they admire black people, but who are just using them to advance their own agendas and who make everything about race and differences, instead of just treating people like people.
Rose defending Chris against the cop was strictly to prevent law enforcement from running a photo ID into the system in a place where Chris can be connected to any of her family's prior victims who disappeared.
I just realized the reason why the family reacted so weirdly to Jeremy asking about if Chris likes MMA is because he wanted Chris’ body, and the parents didn’t want to give a body away for free when they could earn more from the highest bidder. That interaction didn’t make sense until now.
did u get that when the officer asked for his license and she called him out, it was meant to look like she was stepping to his racism, but actually it was so there wasn't any record of him being there ;)))

especially when i think about the first role i saw him in, as kenneth on skins, such a far cry from this. god, this is a great movie. wish i would’ve seen this in theaters…. i bet it was even more intense on the big screen
See his 2nd film: Us
How is ninetailedbrush so smart tho? He's too good.
Its not even about putting them on the pedestal. The film's an allegory of people who say they are not rasict and still reap the benefits of a system that privileges them and is taking advantage of black people. They could do it to black people, for years without consequences because the system didn't give a damn about the people who went missing. This movie is a piece of art.
omg y’all should react to “don’t breathe” !!!
I think Ninetail is the first person I've seen accurately guess everything so early
"It reminds me of the Olympic thing with the grandfather.."
oof, nice catch ;)
Great reaction guys! Nice job Ninetailed brush deducting the whole freaking plot before the twist and James testing his theory all the time with counterarguments lol you guys are great
Yeah he's the worst person to watch reacting to movies
Absolutely great film!
Oh hey dude
Jordan Peele is a horror aficionado and an absolute auteur. Every, single shot is planned and deliberate, and loaded with subtext. He's a genius.
I absolutely adore Get Out. One of my favorite theater experience I ever had, the audience I watched it with was super entertaining/awesome.
Ninetails is brilliant. Please disregard my previous criticism; I'm just grumpy and stupid xD. This really was a joy to watch
"I don't wanna see some dude's brain" Idk why but the way you said it cracked me up
The best part for me was the blind guy is the voice of bill on king of the hill 🤣❤️
I wasn't excited for Bly Manor reaction at first but now I am waiting for the Sunday reaction 😁
It’s 4am here, can’t sleep, and I’m so glad this is the first thing I see
Clutching pillows was pretty smart of you two. XD This movie was so unsettlingly real.
Good choice with Jordan Peele’s genres I’m really excited for Jordan Peele’s Candyman movie comes out August 27th in theaters.
I mean you gotta give Peele some credit for having the sheer balls to make this movie with this message and just drop it in the moviegoer's lap.
Everyone hates white people, so the movie doesn't require balls
I love the quote by NineTailedBrush "oh it's night, something's about to go down"
The movie isn't exactly scary, but the silent auction scene is just macabre.
The more i think, the more macabre it gets.
This is an amazing movie & glad you react to this. I will miss your friend's long hair I was use to it but short hair still looks good.
Great review guys. James, please stop cracking your knuckles during the movies 🙏🏻 Sets my teeth on edge. Looking forward to seeing your review of US.
11:45 i have a prediction about your theory but i, too, shall keep it to myself
Please also react to US by Jordan Peele. I liked it more than Get Out. It's incredible.
It’s on Patreon rn. And yes, same
They said that in the beginning
Jordan is doing another movie called Nope about aliens. He wants to do a Gargoyles movie based on the Disney series from the 90s but now Disney doesn’t want to do a movie.
Great reaction by the way 🖤
C é gata, hein?
I just saw this for the first time. It's brilliant, the acting and cinematography was great. But it was one of the more disturbing films I've seen and I don't know if I'd watch it again.
So glad you did this! Love the psychological thrillers! You should do Primal Fear next 😉
Ninetailedbrush is very astute and theorizes correctly most of the time!
that's why Rose doesn't let the police to check Chris's id.
You can react to The Visit. This is Night Shyamalan's movie. Creepy thing
Not gonna lie, I like the ending where he goes to prision more. Is more revolting and bittersweet, like in The Mist. (yes I'm weird)
Or watch Shutter Island :)
He is also in black panther
22:17 he came to and was trying to tell him to run away. He was trying to help him.
Ninetailedbrush basically figuring it out at 9:33 - smart dude
Rose defending Chris against the cop was strictly to prevent law enforcement from running a photo ID into the system in a place where Chris can be connected to any of her family's prior victims who disappeared.
Did you guys check out the invisible man last year ?
No. We gonna b watching in a few weeks
the demonic voices in your edit is more scary than the actual film
I just realized the reason why the family reacted so weirdly to Jeremy asking about if Chris likes MMA is because he wanted Chris’ body, and the parents didn’t want to give a body away for free when they could earn more from the highest bidder. That interaction didn’t make sense until now.
I love this movie and next one “Us” is amazing too! Can’t wait for see your reaction
Great video guys, I love peeles movies and I love the reaction
that brown room look like the TVA
did u get that when the officer asked for his license and she called him out, it was meant to look like she was stepping to his racism, but actually it was so there wasn't any record of him being there ;)))
I can't afford to send cash, but I always watch the ads on your videos! Hoping it helps!
what yall are talking about at the end isn't called reverse racism but fetishization which is different type from normal but yes. still racism
You guys should watch them!!
Y'all should watch the third installment: Antebellum. It's on point with the recurring theme and it's awesome
p.s you bros are thematically intuitive
IIRC there was a cut of the movie with a much darker ending, where instead of his friend showing up it was the actual police.
You ask why they don't do it discreetly. Well you want to parade your merchandise and let the customer see what they can get out of it. Especially this is quite high stake. Maybe to see personality compatibility.
This does not make me hv any experience in this kind of stuff 😂
You guys should react to Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gylenhaul . Same Director as Dune, it's really really good, one of Hugh Jackmans best performances ❤
The were hypnotized like a "deer in headlights"
Nice James staying mostly silent and not telling him the movie lol
There’s a theory the girlfriend is under hypnosis too. At the end when she found the keys, the jingle might’ve triggered her back into it.
I think she was always in on it. Always evil.
the actress herself has said that her character was always in on it
already excited for their reaction of Us
Omg you guys react to it one of my faves
Great choice 💕
yess more horror movies! please reacto to suspiria and saint maud
Spooky lighting!!!
I also recommend 'The Joker' (2019) !
I just wanted to ask, do you still plan on watching Invincible? I hope so, because I can not wait for your reactions to it!
Tell me why at certain ppls house when I was the only valck person there I felt like I was in the get out movie. Weird vibes. And oddly enough my best friend didn't feel comfortable being the only white person with my family and im an only child, because they were black but I was always the one that had to be in her environment with her family that were all white wich I had no problem with. She specifically said that. I was shook
