Scream is not a parody. Scary Movie is. Scream is satire.
Scream is a horror/thriller movie.
@@moriellymoproblems7842 And satire.
yes, i think they got confused between those two. scream has tributes to many horror movies but it is not a parody or comedy. at least not for me 😄
@@LauPulstar it is a comedy at the same time as a horror movie, they use satire. In fact the actor for Billy was confused why other people in the cast were acting like they were in a comedy because he wasn’t told about it
Thank you.
Ever since "Scary Movie" came out people assume "Scream" is supposed to be a parody. It was never intended to be a parody. Just a self aware, meta, horror/slasher/whodunit
It WAS originally supposed to be a parody, quite similar to Scary Movie but for old (it was even originally meant to be called Scary Movie instead of Scream). Instead, they made it more of an homage to its legendary horror movie predecessors, and ended up becoming a legendary horror movie franchise itself in the process. Funny enough, both Scream & Scary were produced by Dimension Films, so they were clearly okay with making fun of their own film lol...
I think many people just confuse the two terms
@@AshLee92490 No Scream was actually not supposed to be a parody what are you talking about? It was always meant to be a self-aware meta horror movie down to the script this is what people mean by ever since Scary Movie because y'all still getting the 2 mixed-up yes Scream was originally supposed to be called Scary Movie but was scratched for Scream but the film was never intended to be a parody at all. It was always meant to be a horror movie based off the true real life kills of a man who would record himself before going off to kill a bunch of college students and leaving there bodies for display after he R-ed them, it was most likely females he attacked.
@@LEGNDARY_MIST yeah that’s true Scream is a satire
@@AshLee92490 you just completely made this up.
Matthew Lillard’s range as an actor is unparalleled: From Stu to Shaggy.
He’s one of my friend’s cousins. I never got to meet him, but they were reasonably close & I was living with my friend right at this time, when Matt’s career was starting to take off. It was pretty fun.
and lets not forget about cereal killer
He really is a great actor. Even in a turd like "In the Name of the King" , when everyone else just phoned it in , at least he made an effort and was throwing in some interesting character notes.
@@Volkfire his character from Hackers
He is a great actor.
I’ve noticed that alot of reactors think the killer sneaks into Sidney‘s house while she’s outside on the phone with him. They didn’t pick up on the clues that he was already in her house before that, like the neighbor’s dogs barking, the creaking noise coming from the closet when she walks by it, etc
That's why they also play that quickly music when she opens the closet, it was a hint.
That actually makes more sense. That would mean Billy was talking on the phone, since the one in the closet couldn't be without her hearing. Thats why he had a phone but wasn't spacially connected to the attack.
so he snuck into her house and hid in the closet then stayed in there while she took a nap and then waited until she was awakened from a phone call?
@@zedwpd She was asleep less than an hour and he still could’ve easily have come out of there at any point and gone back in without waking her up. Anything could’ve gone on during that time, like making sure Billy has shown up before they call her.
When I was in junior high, my friends and I used to have sleepovers on the weekends and when we’d get bored, we would bust out the phone book and call random girls and you’d be surprised how many of them would usually stay on the phone and carry on a conversation.
Scream was Slasher film for fans of Slasher films. The entire movie was a loving tribute to horror films. The janitor dressed as Freddy Kruger was the film's director Wes Craven (who also wrote and directed A Nightmare of Elm Street).
Actually Kevin Williamson said he was desperate and behind on his car payments, so he wrote it for A QUICK SELL. he wanted people to think it had some cool characters with some cool\whitty Dialogue, so NO! He never wrote it for fans of Slasher films in mind!
@@MrParkerman6 That was before Wes was in the picture but when Wes got a hold of the script he had him change some of the script, Scream was the reason slashers didn't die off and was the revival of horror movies so much so that others tried to copy and actually take notes.
The tagline reads: Someone Has Taken Their Love For Scary Movies A Little Too Far.
When audiences saw the opening, they thought Drew Barrymore was going to be the hero. Well, they were in for a shocking surprise.
Neve Campbell, Sidney, would later star in the supernatural horror drama The Craft, involving teenage witches in 1990's Los Angeles.
Another childhood favorite of mine.
yes, we 90s Kids had winona, drew, Alicia silverstone and neve
The Craft came out before Scream...
@@LauPulstar we still have winona thankfully she's like a fine wine 🍷
The Craft came out before Scream and Billy is also in The Craft as Chris Hooker...
That’s another use of the “Psycho” twist. We all expect her to be a lasting character yet she’s killed off really early. Part of the self awareness of the movie which I love
i love how randy says "i found tatum, she's dead" and stu says "he killed billy (...)" even though at this point only sidney and the killer himself would've known that billy was "dead" (unlike tatum who was just hanging from the garage door), it just gives you even more clues as to who is the real killer!
I never noticed that! Thanks for that detail
@@minoru8391 you're welcome! i love noticing new stuff when rewatching movies so these little clues are so fun to find 😁
Unless by that point Stu found his body... If he was actually dead and Stu wasn't in on it. Sidney wouldn't know
YES PLEASE WATCH THE SEQUELS THEY’RE ALL AWESOME
Also, I see a lot of people wonder why people keep talking to this stranger on the phone, but that was relatively common in the 90s and beforehand. My parents always do that when talking to someone on the phone
It's really no different than young people talking to and befriending completely random online or people who "slide in their DMs"
@@adgato75 Exactly! We’re really not that different lol we just communicate differently
And caller ID wasn't a necessity until this movie.
YAS WATCH THE SEQUELS!!!!!!!!!
Rose McGowan as Tatum is underrated in terms of a cool character. Absolutely fabulous 👏🏽
She is! And really she's the only emotional death in the movie. Sure you feel bad for the people that died but you don't care that much, at least for me you care about Tatum, you don't want her to die, you want her to make it out the cat door (which she actually could fit through, lol) But there's two things I wish happened, one I wish that they had giving her and Dewey a few more scenes of them being nice to each other, the whole movie she is so mean, I know she's just being a younger sister but it would have been nice to see more scenes with just the two of them and also I wish that they had shown Dewey's reaction to finding her body, it would have given her death a lot more wait and for Dewey's character development later.
Definitely
Tatum is awesome and I wish she wouldn't have died. Once they realized that Rose could actually fit through the kitty door they should have somehow changed it. The universe was trying to tell them not to kill her off. Haha
she never got to be in the sequel, Mr. Ghostface
Randy when watching Halloween tells Jamie Lee Curtis, “Jamie, turn around,” but the guy playing Randy is named Jamie, so he’s actually telling himself to turn around. Little things like that and more in this movie make it one of my favorites
You can actually tell which killer is Stu and which one is Billy. One goes for a long wind up and the other is more of a slasher.
There's a ton of details in this movie and it basically reshaped horror movies.
That…..actually makes sense. Like holy shit I never thought of that.
So with this logic, Stu was the GF about to kill Randy & Billy was the GF who killed Kenny? I actually thought Billy may have been still in the house waiting for his cue to stop “playing dead “ while Kenny got killed. Never thought of them doing kills with each other at that time. 🫣🤔
@TheGovernor2003 You definitely can tell from the groans lol. I wonder how they pulled that off considering I thought they had a voice actor for GF.
@@shutupnvibe No, Stu just went outside and slit Kenny's throat. He only does the overhead thing when he's over his victim.
As for the groan thing, they can dub it over in post-production.
@@michaelcarlton1484 ahhh ok, that’s what i thought! i get the stab vs slash thing now though, thanks!
At the end Billy never meant to hit Stu it was an accident during the take and Matthew just ran with it and ad libbed the line "ow you hit me with a phone you dick"
Ghostface saying "Cuz I wanna know who I'm looking at" has to be the biggest "Oh hell no!" moment in movie history
Fun reaction guys. And, yes, Billy Loomis was an homage to Dr. Sam Loomis in Halloween, which itself was an homage to Sam Loomis in Psycho. Also, love Wes Craven’s self deprecating digs at his own Nightmare on Elm Street series. The sequels are definitely worth doing, especially 2.
A lot of people miss the nod to John Carpenter, director of several iconic horror movies, when Tatum is talking to Sydney on the porch. She says, "In some Wes Carpenter film." It's pretty subtle, though, so 🤷.
Yes do the sequels. And I would say it’s not a comedy, but it is full blown satire of the horror genre. Wes craven actually had to have discussions about it being satire because it was originally going to be rated NC-17 but when he asked them to rewatch as a satire that’s when it was changed to R
Better be careful. There’s a troll on this page that’s losing his mind over anyone who calls this horror and not a comedy…even when provided proof from the very writer he claims calls it a “comedy.”
P.S. Williamson never called this a comedy.
I swear I have seen a different version, I specifically remember Steve's death being FAR more graphic, like they actually showed his entire guts falling out of his body and not just a quick shot of it. But I've never been able to find it.
@@Adrianne519 it's on RUclips. Look up Scream unrated scenes, you should find them pretty quick. Wes Craven said the MPAA doesn't mind blood pools on the floor or splattered on the walls, but if you see and hear it running from the body they get uncomfortable. Scream has a lot of "running blood", and a lot of it was cut.
@@Adrianne519 i watched scream yesterday on an old blue ray dvd and that shot was in it
Wes Craven who direct this movie also directed A Nightmare on Elm Street. Thats why there is a "Freddy" cameo in this movie, he even was portrayed by director Wes Craven himself.
Came to say this. The kicker of the "Fred" joke is that it's Craven himself in makeup
Did y'all realize the reporter who asked Sidney "How did it feel to be almost brutally butchered" Was the same lady who played the Iconic little girl in the Exorcist.
And Fred the janitor who's dressed like Freddy Krueger is Wes Craven, the director of Scream. The clothes are also the actual clothes from A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Note how Stu didn't know Billy's motivation, he reacted with surprise at the revelation. Billy planned to betray Stu from the beggining. Several times in the movie he had to try to keep Stu from talking too much and he’d be concerned that Stu would accidentally slip up when he was interviewed by the police about what happened on the night of the party. Billy seriously wounding Stu was not an accident.
Henry Winkler as the Principal was quite underrated. It was darkly comic. He has good comic timing.
He's awesome in Barry too. Barry is a great show
No matter how recognizable he is, I'll always remember him as Fonzie from Happy Days.
The mom scream at the beginning was so gut wrenching. I kind of felt bad for lil ole Casey.😩but if y’all noticed, billy jumped through Sidney’s window both times to establish an alibi.🤷♀️
Both Billy and Stu did the exact same thing to create alibi's. But I have always thought too that Billy was also distracting Sydney while Stu grabbed her dad in his room. He said he was headed to bed but when they reveal him at the end he's wearing the same clothes as he did that night.
@@Adrianne519 🤔 I think you’re on to something.
I think the problem with Scream is most people (particularly younger people) saw Scary Movie, without seeing the movies that franchise parodied. Personally, I'd never call Scream a comedy lol. It has funny moments interlaced with meta commentary and satire, but it's a horror/thriller. Absolutely ahead of its time, and yet somehow always relevant and relatable.
Yea I would say it’s a form of campy horror but it’s definitely not a comedy.
i don’t know i think it’s up to personal opinion cause i definitely think of it as horror/thriller/comedy with satirical elements but i get that some people don’t see it as a comedy
I personally consider it a horror satire
Count me as another vote for watching the sequels! :D
Also, fun fact: Ghostface's phone voice is also the voice actor for Mojo Jojo from the Powerpuff Girls. So... Shaggy and Mojo Jojo kill a bunch of people but are stopped by Monica from Friends.
Hahaha, that's a good one. 😆🤣😂
Oh my gosh, "Scary Movie" is the parody of THIS movie! LOL. "Scream" is THE scary movie and is one of the best horror series ever!! I expect you guys will figure this out as you watch the movie. LOL!
The director Wes Craven played the janitor dressed up as Freddy. Funny enough earlier at the police station when Dewey tells Tatum she’s making him look bad in front of his superior, she answers “The janitor is your superior”.
Favorite horror franchise. This movie changed horror movies in the late 90’s because the genre was dead. It was also the first slasher film in the US to make 100 million at the domestic box office. The sequels are great!
Scary movie is probably the parody you guys are thinking about. This is more of a horror comedy paying homage to classic horror movies. It is meta but it’s still a horror movie on its own.
It's technically a parody, but it plays itself seriously. Much like the British office is a parody of documentaries and plays it (mostly) straight. the US office is also a documentary parody but it's much more over the top
@@ATSaale it’s not a parody, it’s a satire. They are not the same thing.
The actor playing Billy actually had heart surgery as a kid so he had one seriously sensitive spot on his chest that would cause excoriating pain if hit. However, while he was given a chest pad to protect that spot, the stunt performer couldn't see where the umbrella was striking. So, when "Billy" drops to the floor, that was the stunt performer missing the pad completely and literally stabbing the actor in the chest.
My absolute favorite movie of all-time. Nothing beats this film and the franchise. I never tire of this masterpiece.
😂 when you confuse scream with the parody it inspired
SCREAM saved the horror genre, it was so different to what had been made and it started forcing people to rethink how to scare the audiences.
The sequels are definitely worth a watch! ✨🖤🙏🏻
Fun fact!
The prop team forgot to switch the umbrella tip at the end and Neve actually jabbed Skeet, the yell was real
😂
Also when Sidney was attacked initially it was Stu, he headbutts her and when he's chasing her up the stairs he says "Easy!", at school he is checking his forehead in a mirror and when he gets smacked in the chest by Tatum he says "Easy." again.
The movie is filled with tiny foreshadowing moments like these.
Fun fact: In the original script Dooey was supposed to die but appearantly in test screenings people were really upset about his death so Wes decided to write him surviving! Which is great because I love Dooey.
The great thing about Scream was it was so self aware, in that it even though it is a serious subject it constantly refers to old Horror films and makes reference to the plot of them etc. It also spawned superb sequels, each on of them is great too and well worth a watch. You gotta do the sequels, the writing is just so clever.
Drew Barrymore and Michelle Pfeiffer in an interview revealed how they were inspired by each other and it was quite cool.
Really? That's super interesting.
The scene where Jamie Kennedy was imploring “Look behind you Jamie! BEHIND YOU!” was by far the best part for me. Maximum levels of meta!
Peak meta comedy
the Scream franchise is honestly my all time favorite slasher movies and I'm really glad y'all watched it! I definitely see them as homages to the classic slasher films while being great movies in their own right and I really hope you guys react to the rest of the series!
One of my favorite things in the movie is that no one ever really points out or realizes that the camera man literally used his last seconds to safe Sydney. After his throat was slit he pointed to the back where Sydney crawls and escapes from. I think it’s such a subtle moment people don’t ever notice
Random fact: Kevin Williamson wrote this movie, he later wrote many horror movie & tv shows including (the vampire diaries, Halloween h20, the faculty, etc, etc) the tv show “Dawson’s creek” is based on his life- small town kid who other teens think is a loser because he dreams of making horror movies instead of “acting like a regular teen.”
He also wrote I know what you did last summer and Wrote and Directed Teaching Mrs. Tingle. Originally titled Killing Mrs. Tingle until Columbine happened!
You really should watch the sequel and the parody "Scary Movie" (2001) after this, because with all your reactions and movie stuff you're perfectly prepared for this one.
Make sure to watch I know what you did last summer before scary movie, if you haven't watched it already.
I doubt they will do those, they don't tend to do raunchy movies. I mentioned to them a while ago about seeing Not Another Teen Movie and they said they wouldn't and if that movie is too raunchy then Scary Movie definitely will.
@@Adrianne519 too bad, that's a great one
I'm pretty sure they thought this was Scary Movie since they said it was a comedy.
@@deanm9652 I got that feeling too haha
I’m so glad you guys are watching this movie, it’s gotta be one of my top favourites as well as ‘who framed roger rabbit’. I’ve needed it after this awful week, thank you 💕 I’m looking forward to your reaction!
Scream is a *pure masterpiece*
Scary movie is a parody🔥
Can't wait. It was still the Scream trilogy when I was watching these growing up and it was my favorite horror series. Then the 4th one came out when I was in high school. All of them are worth watching but the first three will always be my favorites. Especially this first one. 👻🔪
I dunno i would rank 4 over 3 any day but love them both
@@aoife08619 That's fair. I know most people love it and I agree it's a better movie itself. It just feels very different from the first 3 and I'm weird about long breaks in series lol.
Just a reminder that we need a reaction to Drew Barrymore Rom-Com Classics like ‘Ever After’ and ‘Never Been Kissed’.
Definitely not a parody. It's horror/thriller/satire. It's one of my aboslute favourite horror movies ever and I love all the nods to other horror movies and making fun of them. I hope you'll watch at least some of the sequels
“Are those her parents?”
No. Those are HIS parents.
His Mom and Dad are going to be so mad at him.
For the time the double killer twist was really surprising. Maybe not anymore because a lot of movies have borrowed the concept, but I can't think of an instance prior to Scream where the double killer twist was used.
I paused to comment. You are right about the name Loomis, but it goes further back. In Psycho, Sam Loomis is the name of Marion’s boyfriend. In Halloween, which starred actress Janet Leigh (Marion)’s daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, they named the psychiatrist Dr. Samuel Loomis m, or simply “Loomis”, in homage. And Scream, being a love letter to the genre, they couldn’t resist naming Sidney’s boyfriend Billy Loomis in tribute
"Don't you blame the movies!!!! Movies don't create psychos!!! Movies make psychos more creative!!!!"
- Billy Loomis
I love the whole meta aspect in Scream.
I'm so glad you guys are watching this. I've been waiting for yall to watch these! Please watch the other 4!!!
This just made my day better! I love seeing your reactions, boys! Fan from México
Scream was meant to pay homage to alot of horror before. The director of this is the director of nightmare on elm Street. Please react to the rest of the series. Love you guys reactions
This is a movie that can be funny and super disturbing at the same time and I love it because it doesn’t hold back on the violence or the explicit Contant which I like but it’s also a commentary on the movies themselves which is really cool being original at the same time
Fun fact: The Ghostface mask is actually not from this movie. The Ghostface mask actually existed before Scream was made. It was part of holiday company Funworld’s lineup of Halloween masks called “fantastic faces”. Before it was called Ghostface, it was called the “screaming ghost” since it resembled the face of the screaming person in Edvard Munch’s painting “The Scream”.
Scream is the pinnacle changing point for all horror , it’s definitely not a parody nor a comedy Lmao idk why they said that in the beginning, its just a whole new meta vibe and way of telling horror going foward which is why it’s so different
I swear. It’s kind of insulting actually lol.
@@3twelve206 like some of the characters are comedic but the story itself is very much not comedic. It knows exactly what it’s doing and it isn’t tryna be all light hearted. It’s a shame because of the fact that they said it was a comedy in the beginning - they basically just treated it as a comedy which sucks
Yes it is, dumbass. It is a Horror Comedy, Kevin Williamson has said so himself and he wrote it, I think he would know, idiot. There is lots of comedy in these movies, dumbass.
@@MrParkerman6 virgin boy is all ass hurt
@@MrParkerman6 you mean this Kevin Williamson:
“He (Wes Craven) saw it as satirical. I said, ‘No. No. It’s got to be scary. If it’s not scary, it’s not going to work.’ He kept saying, ‘But it’s a comedy.’ I said, ‘It’s not. You’ve got to play it scary.’ He saw it as a comedy. I told him you’ve got to make the scares work. If you just do it as a spoof, then it’s not going to live. It has to be really scary. I wanted it that way. He was like, ‘That I can do.’”
And there’s no need to be this toxic, especially when you’re factually incorrect. Lots of mainstream horror have comedic elements, that doesn’t make it a comedy. It’s definitely meta satire more than anything, especially for the 90s.
Although I’d love to be enlightened if you find a source. Happy to be corrected.
Welcome to the internet.
This is a classic horror franchise the rest are a must watch once you start this franchise one will never be the same the ending is epic
It's a series, not a franchise, dumbass. A franchise is something you can buy into and then start your own, idiot!
Especially with the new one that just came out!
@@fynnthefox9078 i still haven’t seen it
Like alot of others said, this isn't a parody. Scary Movie was a parody/comedy series inspired by this and other horror movies. The scream series is a horror/slasher satire series. So they're not meant to be a comedy but they have comedic moments. Loved your reaction so much. The whole series is really good. :) If you consider watching more.
It's kinda funny how Drew Barrymore started as a child actress in hollywood and like 80% of the time child stars never get back into Hollywood due to image issues and how audiences might not like them being adult actors. But all Drew Barrymore needed to prove she could act was the first 15 minutes of this film and her career was BACK!
You guys should react to The Faculty (1998).
I don't know if you've ever heard of it but the screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, is the same guy who wrote Scream. If you liked movies like Scream and Final Destination, then you'll enjoy The Faculty.
Basically it's like if Scream was a sci-fi movie with horror elements rather than a horror slasher movie.
They filmed it in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, California. My husband worked at the hotel where all the actors and crew stayed. Soooo many funny stories!
I personally think that the twist is less about being a twist and more about playing with the trope. It is a twist, but it's not super surprising if you are paying attention. For me the film's tone is self aware and tongue in cheek, rather than outright parody, the same way the 'The Princess Bride' is for fantasy stories. Every time I watch this film I pick up on another reference that I previously missed.
My favorite horror movie and one of my favorite movies of all time really. So good. Definitely watch the sequels. All amazing. All of them worth watching. And you really get to see the characters evolve. Best horror franchise out there!
fave thing about ghostface is how people can and will beat him up lol. he trips on stuff and falls over, he gets hit with doors, etc. it makes it more realistic that this is a real person after you
You can’t go wrong with Scream; please continue the series! I’m coming to this reaction after the Paranormal Activity series, and IMO, the Scream sequels are better than the PA ones, which you guys mostly enjoyed.
My favourite line in the whole movie is Stus pathetic "My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me!"
i have never seen a reaction to Scream with so much laughing during the intro.
Because they thought it was a parody for some reason (probably mistook it for Scary Movie, which is a parody of Scream)
One of my favorite slashers ever, it inspired so many movies afterwards.
My favorite thing is watching Scream with someone who doesn't know who the killer is. It makes it so much more fun.
please do the entire franchise! my fav movies & i love you guys 😁
I cant unsee scary movie anymore 😂 the popcorn at the beginning lmao
I lowkey expect him to hide behind the couch and read a magazine
7:53 - Actually, they were originally marketed back in 1991. But, when Wes Craven saw the mask, he decided it was just what their 🎥 needed. So, they purchased the rights to use the mask in "Scream". And then it was rebranded as the oh-so popular 'Ghostface' mask.
I love Scream, it's such an effective satire and slasher.
Beginning scene.. This really translates, in our age, how invels talk to girls on dating app messages once they feel rejected.. WEIRD!! Have never had this thought before!
Neve Campbell had a birthday recently and also, brilliant performance in this movie.
Love these movies, all are pretty great also i immediately recognized the line " I'll gut you like a fish " Loki said it in the first episode of Loki and i thought no way did he just reference ghostface
The character Loki threatens is even named Casey. It was great
The actor's first name who plays Randy is Jamie, so it was even more ironic during that scene of him saying "Jamie look behind you".
fun FACT; Drew supposed to play Main Role of Sidney, but she cannot do it, cause of tied calendar with other movie, so Wes Craven, asked to play at least small Cameo :)
14:25 the reason the music is so dramatic and spooky when she opens the closest is because it’s foreshadowing where the killer jumps out from, or stu is already hiding in the closest waiting this whole time. By the late 80s/ early 90s horror films were in a bit of a slump and people had fallen out of love with them. Scream came about with its meta script and poking fun at horror tropes it reignited people’s love for scary movies
I genuinely love that principle lol. Not only is it the Fonz, but he seems pretty passionate and genuinely compassionate for the students who would be effected by that nonsense. You dont see that in a lot of movies. Most people think he's too intense but I like it.
Yeah, people just immediately find him suspicious when he really just cares about his students.
Back in 1996, Horror was dying. The numerous Friday the 13th sequels, which is the main target of the satire (not parody), were killing the genre, and it revitalized the horror genre and then we got films like The Ring, Drag Me to Hell, Lights Off, etc. This was written by Kevin Willamson who went on to watch the two I Know What You Did/Still Know What You Did Last Summer films, Cursed (another team up with Wes Craven) and Dawson's Creek. It would spawn Scream 2, 3, 4 and Scream (2022), and now the upcoming Scream VI. It made a star out of Neve Campbell who became the new final girl alongside Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and is one of the most beloved horror franchises in movie history. It changed the horror genre in proving that you could make an audience actually care about the characters and root for them without losing the intensity of the horror. Basically, this film and its subsequent sequels are categorized as Meta/Slasher/Horror/Murder Mystery thrillers. It also brought Wes Craven back into the limelight after a barrage of box office failures. This film inspired so many aspiring horror movie filmmakers and because of it, we now have the incredible talent behind The Conjuring franchise, Blumhouse and its mega successes, and has helped to create a new golden age of horror. Old school filmmaking combined with new and inventive ways to tell a story.
I am SO happy that you guys are watching this movie series! Some random recommendations... BBC Merlin, Teen Wolf TV Series (movie coming soon), BBC Sheŕlock, just some ideas. Massive fan of your content and channel!!!!
I went to see this when it came out, we were shocked Drew was killed out in the opening scene. This movie is a SATIRE of horror films, it was the first to really show the kids knew horror movies and the rules of the genre. Neve Campbell also is now known as the best scream queen/final girl since Jamie Lee Curtis. The script is solid and smart, the direction by Wes Craven is perfect, the cast are one of the best ensembles. This film saved the horror genre.
This is not a parody of anything or even a comedy, it's just a teen slasher movie with some meta humor.
Yes it is comedy, fucking dumbass. It is a Horror Comedy and both Kevin Williamson who wrote it and Wes Craven acknowledge this, fucking dumbass.
@@MrParkerman6 Are you ok?

Yup! How about you?
Plothole: Sydney should have known Randy was not the killer when (when she was deciding who to let in Randy or Stu) she saw him on the 30 second delay and Ghostface was behind him. If she was under the assumption that there was one killer than Randy was of the two. If she was under the assumption of two the odds that one was Randy was relatively small when we already saw a Ghostface.
Fun fact you don't realise until you've seen the movie: "What door am I at" is a trick question. There are two killers, so technically Ghostface is at both doors. But Casey had no way of knowing that, so literally any answer she gave would be wrong. The correct answer was "Both doors".
They pull the same trick later, to try and convince Sidney Billy isn't involved. When she's first attacked, Billy is on the phone and Stu is the one in the costume. That's how, when she manages to survive, Billy is able to get to her room to perform damage control so quickly.
Fun fact 2: Randy, the horror movie buff, correctly pegs BOTH killers. He has a really good sense of how to spot a killer.
That was Wes craven as fred
Okay so guys, guys guys guys you gotta hear this lmao; so the rest of the Scream movies are genuinely good so you HAVE to watch all of them pretty please with a cherry on top
Scream is a classic. I grew up never getting to see scary movies because of my crazy religious parents so this was the first one I got to see in the theater. I did know all the references to the other films and since have seen them but yeah. This movie always has a special place in my heart.
This is the most consistent horror franchise the sequels are a must watch
Yall didn't show it, but when the police ask Billy "what's a kid like you doin with a cellular phone" it ages this movie SO much lol
Learn to use question marks, dumbass.
@@MrParkerman6 ?????
This is the movie, where Courtney Cox and David Arquette (Dewey), dated and then married whilst doing ‘Friends’. They both come from the same home town and known each-other for years. I like number 2.
*MET, Dated , then married.
Love the Scream movies it was the movie that got me interested in horror movies. and yes just like the others said not a parody a satire. The self aware parts make parts of it funny but it deserves the label of great horror movie not a comedy.
Randy's the best scream character!
What a classic yeah guys should get to the sequels
Scream 2 has the best tone of the 5 films. The perfect seriousness and infusion of humor that doesn’t fall into Scary Movie slapstick comedy.
Scream is not a parody, its a self referential movie. This movie was game changing. You absolutely should watch all the movies, all are connected
Keep them coming. We love it!
PLEASE DO SCREAM 2, 3 AND 4!!! I know youll enjoy them a lot
Mrs Voorhees WAS the original killer in Friday the 13th !
I just subscribed in the hopes that you guys do the rest of the Scream movies. Yes, even the third one. :)
