I’ve got mine with guppies. No issues whatsoever. Very interesting. They get aggressive with each other never toward anything else in their tank. Male Betta, feeder guppies, fancy guppies, yo-yo’S, baby Senegal Bichers, Corys, pleco a.
Awesome video! I have one in my 80 gallon, he is housed with columbian tetra angelfish, gourami and all get on well, the acara is like a dog he gets so exited when you come into the room.. awesome fish
I kept changing my water. Like 25% a week. All my fish kept dying. I finally listened to someone else about having 2 filters and just cleaning them. Maybe changing 10% of water a week and vacuum the bottom every other week TOPS. It has worked like a charm. 6 months now. I have NO idea how your fish dont stress out and die from the multiple water changes.
There were other reasons your fish were dying, glad you found out what works for you. But the vast majority of people donwster changes that way for life and have no issues. I do 30% a week on my most recent tank been fine for 2+ years. Have had no issues with past tanks either.
Just note that the severems are going to get much bigger. 5 severems with acaras are fine tank mates, but they get big. The acaras look almost full grown. The severems are going to double in size. I keep 4 EBCs in my 75g, and 1 severm would probably fill the tank out. You aren't going to be able to keep all those fish in the same tank forever. I keep 4 acaras, 2 angels, and a few bottom feeders... kuli loches, smaller plecos, ect.. but even with a 75g, 1 severem would be the max... 5 is going to require that you can't keep them all in 50g. Fine tank mates, but a 50g tank just isn't enough for the long haul.
Yeah I don’t have any dramas with mine, I have one in with a Red Devil which was fine until my fenestratos paired up with it lol moved to my planted tank with some shrimp, while it has cleaned out a few theirs still tons
I have 3 electric blue acara in with 5 keyhole cichlids and 7 yellow tiberia rainbow fish and 1 bristlenose pleco. They all get along very well. One electric blue acara has claimed a corner and seemingly dug a slight hole there although I believe all 3 are males. He only seems to become territorial when the larger male keyhole wanders to his area. Im beginning to think this is just his personality or I've been mistaken and one is a female. They are all still very young say under 2.5" ...your thoughts?
I have a very agro discus. He killed his own every time I would introduce more, even large groups of them, then I found these guys and now I feel he has met his match with them and they all seem to have the same temperament. Yes, it's an odd mix, but it's working at the moment. If any of the acara start attacking him or visa versa, the aggressor is going to the fish shop.
Electric blue male and a female Bolivian Ram as tank mates: Lots of hiding places, 60-65 gal aquarium. Tank mates: a few platies, 3 dwarf gourami, 12” common pleco. Looking for those “centerpiece” fish. Thoughts?
I have 3 Bala shark, 4 gourami, 1 rainbow shark, 4 rainbow fish and a bristlenose plecostomus all get on fine in my large tank. Can I put an Acara with that mix, just want one acara. I do 70% every 2 weeks
My favorite stocking for these are a school of Dwarf Neon Rainbows, a school of Brochis Splendens, 4 Orange Chromides, a Flying Fox, and 4 EBAs. The color in contrast is incredible and worth every penny and drop of sweat I put into the tank.
I have a blue acara with fancy tail guppies and mollies.. I don't have more neon tetras because she kill them All! She never attack the other fish just the neon tetras.
Hello ! Can i keep this beautiful fish alone in a tank ? :) got a 55 gallon. Is that enough for just one ? And will it thrive on it's own. I'm gonna spend all my time with him tough
I have a (female) Yellow Labs, can i have it bread with a (male) Blue Acaras? I dont wanna uy another semi aggressive fish & put it with the 2 ropefish, if its not gonna work out
Cories works great with almost all fishes since they are armoured with sharp scales. If a Acara would eat one it could die. I have one with Black ruby barbs, gouramis and corydoras. What dont work is otocinlus and small fish. Rainbows should work to since they are big and fast.
Anything over 2.5 inches in size will be fine. EBAs max out at 6 inches so just keep that in mind. The fish you've listed are excellent tankmates and will all do well as long as they're 2+ inches in size.
I have two electric blues with one tbar and several other types of community fish. The tbar chases the blues, but the agression has gone down lately. I'd say difficult but possible.
@@ebertcombs6610 They're extremely hardy fish in my case. Survived 2 hurricanes and over 80 days without power here in Puerto Rico. They're now breeding a hardy line and couldn't be prouder of them ^^

Idk y every store has only these electric blues. the regular acaras look so much better. and theyre more sturdy. I have to pay 70$ to order one online even tho i can get these dumb electric ones at every store around for 12$. it really sucks.
