    I recently set up a 75 gallon and my centerpiece is 2 Electric Blue Acara's about 2 inches each....also 4 Geo Tapajos and 2 Albino Hecklii.....everything is great with agression, the larger Blue is the tank boss....nobody bothers the smaller Blue acara about an inch....they have great appetites....its a planted tank as well.....overall great fish and very personal I must say...very interactive fish.

    Ben,
    Awesome fish I love EBA's I have one in my 55 gal Planted aquarium also. He is in there with my Jewel cichlid and a couple rams and some other tetras. I just added 5 or 6 Red Eye tetras to the tank and they stay at the top mostly. I have 6 giant danios in there and my EBA does nothing to any of the fish in the tank. My smallest fish in there is probably the red eye tetras. The fish is curious but he hasn't done anything to anyone in the tank that I can tell. You will probably be fine with them in the tank. The only thing that could be a problem is if they are Male and Female and defending the eggs could be aggressive since it's a cichlid. They are to small right now for any real damage those rummy nose are to fast for the EBA's MY EBA is about twice the size of the ones you put in the tank. I have a green terror in my 90 gal also and he is picky to. He loves the Cichlid Pellets from Omega One he gobbles those 5 mm pellets up like theres no tomorrow. I love Omega one food. I feed that and Cichlid Flakes from omega one. My 20 gal long planted nano tank gets extreme nano pellets and Omega one Tropical flake food. I crush up the flakes a bit before I throw them in. You could also try the Hikari Virbra Bites for the Green terror mine likes them little red worm looking food. Appreciate the fish update. The Buenos aires tetras are looking big in the 90 gal.

    I have 3 EBA in my 75 gal planted tank. Have had them since they were juveniles. 2 have paired up, and since then they are doing a number on my plants. Destroyed an Amazon Sword and are even going after the anubias. Also destroyed all my sessiliflora.

    Hi Ben, River here - what a beautiful fish; in fact all of your cichlid tanks have beautiful fish!! One thing I've noticed is none of those tanks have any bottom fish. We were thinking of doing bottom fish in the tank we are setting up. In your experience are bottom fish not a good match with peacocks and haps?

    • @BenOchart

      I used to keep Clowns with my ACs and they got along well. I've considered adding some. Synodontus cats and bushynose plecos are also a good addition. I've just never gotten around to adding some to the 300 gallon.

    I have an electric blue acara and they do get more aggressive as they get older. I would worry about the smaller fish in your tank like the neon tetras because I am sure they will get eaten. They eba is a beautiful fish and they look even better when they get large but they will get aggressive. I have mine with a venustus, Frontosa, brichardi , nyererei and polystigma and he is number 2 boss behind my Frontosa that is 9 inches long. So just remember the blue acara is a cichlid and they can be aggressive and eat smaller fish.

    • @benjaminmorley1007
      @benjaminmorley1007 10 месяцев назад

      Here is a video of my electric blue acara. As you can see this fish loved to eat and I worry that keeping them with small tetras might not work well. I am sure the electric blue acara would enjoy the tetras though.

      Yes, my plan is to move them to the 90 gallon after they’ve put on a little size, or at the first sign of aggression.

    • @benjaminmorley1007
      @benjaminmorley1007 10 месяцев назад

      @@BenOchart one other advice I would give would be to try to not keep more than one electric blue acara because they may breed and become very aggressive. The other problem is cichlids often are very aggressive toward their own kind. One electric blue acara will be dominant and bully the other ones. So maybe have other fish like a severum or firemouth cichlid instead. Cichlids tend to view others of their kind as rivals instead of buddies. The only aggression in my tank now is from my nyererei cichlid fighting with my zebra obliquans cichlids which is probably because he sees them as rivals because they are both Lake Victorian cichlids.

    • @BenOchart

    Amazing fishes but I wonder if their colors would stand out better against darker substrates? A guy I know did a tank with gravel so brown it’s almost black, and wow it makes the colors of the fishes really jump out. He’s thinking about changing all his other tanks to the same.

    OK Big question? ours have had 250 baby fry! (the whole ritual ) the mother moving the unborn embryos withher mouth on the daily - Every time we've had a batch there was original 250 little swimmers first day or two- All batches start that way and within 5 days there is only 40 left .. Eventually 40 make it to maturity? How do so many die so quick? We only have mother and father and no other fish? I have a few theories? The mother keeps micro managing where they are hanging ,tirelessly moving them and accidentally swallowing them? IS IT OK to remove mother and father to keep more alive OR is it natural for the defected ones to die , or natural for most of them to die off regardless of parents there or not?? LMK thks so much
