i had a 55g with 4 acara and 2 parrots. It went amazing for 2 years! great choice one of my parrots was about 7” and thickk, his name was giannis, my prized possesion well 3 days ago my wave maker broke (main source of oxygen for tank) I went out for around 4 hours, Came back to 2 dead parrots, and 2 dead acaras, the last 2 EBA’s were holding on for dear life at the top of the tank gasping for air. I rushed to the store and got a bubble wand, within the hour they were saved🥲 incredible fish

I used to have an electric blue acara with a school of congo tetras. Gorgeous tank, loved the activity. Also had a couple large mollies who had nowhere else to go, the acara didn't bother them much but did eat the fry.
Yea that’s my problem right now lol I had tons and tons of mollies so I got the electric blue as a center piece fish/ keep population down but now I’m almost out of mollies. I’m trying to see what fish I should for tank mates
Love the electric blue acara! I have 5 I bought very small in a 29g quarantine tank. They are growing like weeds! One of the friendliest fish I have owned in my 30 years of fish keeping. I know they just want food but they are really glad to see me anyhow! Lol. I will be retiring a 75g and updating that tank to a new 125g. Then I will add the acara with 4 angel fish and 2 young Severums. I can’t wait. Next on the list will be a geo or 2
I just picked up two of these, shop keeper gave them to me for free (upgraded my tank size) so im very pleased :D thanks for the effort put into this video
I have a 75G, I only havw 2 acara in it and wanted to add a severum cichlid, I've always wanted one but I believe it may be over crowded for these fish at full size, do you have any opinions for me ?
That was informational. I would like to keep a few of these fish. I plan on getting a 150 gallon tank one day. working on getting money together for it. I love all three of your videos. Thank you for everything.
I love my electric blue acaras. I've got 3 in my 90 gallon south American tank. With 5 silver dollars, red spotted severum, heros liberifer, 2 heckelii, a Texas cichlid and an Oscar. It's a super peaceful tank we love it
Just the video I was looking for! I have one tank, now, a 30g community - tetras and corydoras. The LFS has the Electric Blue Acara, and it was all I could do today to keep myself from bringing it home and putting it in this tank. I have decided to get another tank, a 55g or 75g (most likely 75g), for a cichlid community. The LFS is not encouraging of the "community" aspect. This video gives me confidence that I should be able to pull it off!. I really want that Electric Blue badly and several of the ones you put on your list. Thanks very much! I've watched two of your videos, and I'm off to check out the others.
Love the electric blue acara!!! Fyi im sad that they closed old orchard aquarium that store was amazing…. Cant wait to see the update on the 75g peacock cichlid tank!!!
The electric blue acara, Sean's to fit with a huge variety of cichlid's, I think that you could make a video informing, with witch fishes they don't do well, but this video is always helpful for who wants to have several fishes in the same tank. 👍
All of my Electric Blue Acara’s tank mates are on your list. 😂. 1 Electric Blue Acara 1 Geophagas Surinamisis 1 Blood Parrot Cichlid 1 Convict Cichlid 1 Albino Bristle Nose Pleco 1 Rubbernose Pleco 4 Emerald Green Corydoras 12 Colombian Tetras Wait… I forgot about the two bumblebee catfish, but don’t think they count since me and the other fish never see them until I pull the rocks up during water changes. Lol Update: just added a Convict today as a substitute for a firemouth that wasn’t fitting in well, and tried a convict as you had him as an honorable mention despite other research that made me leery. Glad I did, they’re all getting along fine.
Hey guys I love the videos there really informative and your tanks look amazing. One thing about the videos that could be improved in my opinion is make the videos less scripted/robotic sounding for example the king of diy said when he used to read a script less people liked the videos vs when he showed his personality and just talked like he was talking to someone in person. I hope you didn’t take any offence to this, it’s just my opinion.

Hi Guys, Great videos and I have been watching lots of them. Well, I have a 66 gal Fluval tank. I am thing of getting Mbunas for it. But the more of your videos I watch. I am liking the South American Cichlids. I would like your opinion on what SAC I could consider for me 66 gal tank. Lots of choices, I just need to pick the right ones. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! A few great options would be geo tapajos, electric blue acara, maybe one severum. Could also do peaceful smaller cichlids like keyholes, festivum and apistogramma
Hi! I bought two electric blue acaras. I was advised to put them with Malawi cichlid, but they were almost killed overnight. Managed to save them and added where I keep bigger goldfish with some congo terras and Buenos Aires tetras even some Bosmani Rainbows. All seem well at first, as the blue acara got litte bigger they seem to team up on the bigger size gold fish, almost 10-20 times their size. And eventually I need to remove the goldfish to hospitalize. The smaller goldfish, even some that is only 5 to 8 times their size they seem to leave alone. I'm now thinking of ditching the idea of haring a goldfish fish tank and convert it to a Oscar tank. OT is family big. I should be able to have to oscars with the acaras in their. Probably have to poulate the otter smaller rainbow and terras fish as Oscar start to out grow them. Any thoughts, seeing as you guys are the pros coming to ciclids😊
I don’t think people know this but bluegills are a pretty good companion to cichlids because in my tank they kinda act like silver dollars and divert aggression.
I have two eba with a angelfish. I'm trying to find a schooling fish who would work with both.any ideas would be awesome. I also have 7 corydoras..55 gallon planted
Thanks for this video! I've been trying to come up with a plan for my new 75 and wanted to go beyond the pedestrian passive community fish. I was seriously considering an Mbuna tank, but thought they all look the same but in different colors, discus are so docile... This combination would give me the variety, color and liveliness I'm looking for.
I am in the beginning stages of setting up a 75 gallon tank as well. I would love to get one koi angel and a geophagus tapajo but the later seems hard to find. Been struggling to decide what other fish I should add. Good luck with your tank and feel free to let me know what is working in your tank. I really like the Sevrum but I love real plants too and I know they will eat them.
God bless you and God bless anyone reading this! Hope you have an awesome day! Seek him while you can! Jesus is the way and the only way and he is returning soon! What are peoples thoughts one 4 angelfish and 2 electric blues in a 55 gallon? Just wanna know before I make a purshase. I have 2 blues in the 55 as of now and they are happy healthy and I believe paired because the never leave each other’s side but haven’t seen any eggs or fry
I would think festivum cichlid would be another good choice. They are a nice, semi-aggressive cichlid that get along well with angelfish and severum, so I would think blue acara would be a good neighbor, too, but I haven’t tried that myself.
I had 2 electric blue acaras. One fish dominated the other so I split them up. One died when I had an ick outbreak in my 40 gallon tank... But the dominant one has thrived in my 75 gallon. He's worked out very well with my Columbian and Bruno's Aires tetras ... I also have different types of corydoraa and bristlebose plecos....... And five female Bettas. The tank has been successful for a year now. I only lost 2 mystery snails
i started with a 150g tank for my first aquarium. I first put in a pleco and 6 angelfish. no problems. after a few weeks I put in 4 electric blues after watching a bunch of your videos. Cichlid Bros are the best videos to watch IMO. Unfortunately the electric blues that I picked were aggressive and bullying and killed a couple of the angelfish. Now I'm worried about getting the red spotted severum that I wanted to get. Any suggestions on how to get a severum into my tank with the bully electric blues?
I’ve been debating getting a pair of these beautiful fish but was concerned my 3 blue gouramis and 2 red tailed irain rainbow fish now that is solved next issue is my 40 gal breeder gonna be big enough? I also have amanos that hide in the moss I never see them and then 2 termalis loaches which I hope won’t be an issue
Would it be okay for a blue acara for a center piece. 3 red apristogrammas and 2 or 3 electric yellow cichlids in a 29 gallon breeder? I'm trying to set up another tank . Thank youu
I have a 120 with 1 Oscar, 2 plecos, 1 Severum, 1 adult convict and like 10+ convict juveniles most likely I will get rid of most convicts but am I still good to add 1 or 2 blue acaras? Or am I overstocked? I have like double the filtration a 120 needs
My wife loves the EBA. If any of my larger tanks goes down I would love to reset with EBAS. How about black acaras and Green Terror? I find of the JD/FM/convict/GT THE TERRORS are least aggressive
Black acaras are a good choice. I’ve found Green Terrors and EBAs to go after each other some. Only cichlid that I’ve seen the EBA really go after and fight
Do you think I could have Corys, Acaras, a single Angelfish, and maybe some Tetras in a 55 with mostly aquasoil and pebble substrate and living plants? Asking because I'm just getting back into fish after like 15 years and don't want to make anybody uncomfortable. It seems like all the fish would get along with each other but my concern is if the environment would suit them and if the plants would survive.
Any thoughts on these with African dwarf frogs? I have a 55 gallon with two African dwarf frogs, a bristlenose pleco and three silver dollars and trying to figure what to add without causing problems
Just have a question for you I’m starting a new 220 gallon acrylic aquarium an I’m torn between substrates to use due to scratch factors. What would you recommend?
Both my firemouth have had there tail nipped and now all 3 of my arcras have had these nipped aswel, please help and tell me what I should/could do to stop this from happening. Both red jewels and the jack Dempsey tails are fine so I'm guessing it's one of them doing the nipping
Hi, can electric blue acaras and firemouth cichlids become tank mates with redhead cichlids. I can see half of the tail for one of my Electric blue acaras is missing , also one other small blue acara has disappeared in my tank ? Please help me as I cannot identify the predators. I have 4 electric blue acara (small size) 2 blue acaras (small size) 3 fire-mouth cichlids ( small size), 3 redhead cichlids (large size), 2 blood parrot cichlids (large) and 2 gold severums - (large size). I have 200 litre tank 4 feet long approx. Please advice. Many thanks.
Love the Severums! I have a heavily planted tank so I never got one because it heard they are big plant eaters. What’s your experience with that? Also I have some Keyhole Cichlids and a Bolivian Ram. Think they would be okay with a EBA?
LOL Troy look at the stock list for my 120G, all of them have been on your lists :) - but I arrived at this stock list before I saw most of your videos! (video here ruclips.net/video/O2PPPMKgxmk/видео.html ) * 4x electric blue acara * 5x pearl guorami * 2x satanoperca jurupari * 1 gold severum Absolutely awesome crew of fish, the acaras have bred already and everyone still has enough territory to live in peace. The pearls and cichlids swim together happily with almost no aggression to be seen ever.
The three spot, blue, golden, and opaline gouramis can be very ahressive towards each other and other gouramis. Best to leave them out. a Snakeskin gourami would go well but they get big, same for kissing gouramis whichalso get big like clown loaches do, but not as large overall.
Thanks for mentioning blood parrots! They have incredible personalities and I also keep them together with EBA, its going great!
i had a 55g with 4 acara and 2 parrots. It went amazing for 2 years! great choice
one of my parrots was about 7” and thickk, his name was giannis, my prized possesion

Acara’s like eyeballs too 😭
Glad I found someone else with the passion for these electric blues! I'm currently with 3 females and 1 male. And they mate like crazy!
Very cool!
Great video. Your videos got me started. Now I have three larger tanks and three electric blue Acarras. We have the exact same geos. Love those !
Love the electric blue acara! I have 5 I bought very small in a 29g quarantine tank. They are growing like weeds! One of the friendliest fish I have owned in my 30 years of fish keeping. Thank you. Just what I needed. Great info!
Glad it was helpful!
I planning a large cichlid tank, definitely some awesome fish to keep with most cichlids. And can't believe you didn't mention Tinfoil barbs!
Tin foil barbs will work well, as long at the tank is really big!
always great videos love your channel!
Thanks for watching!
Great suggestions! Thank you

I have angels, cory cats, flasher barb(roseline shark). Glad to know I can add acaras. Thanks for the video, I was worried about the cory cats.
Sounds like a great setup. Best of luck
Great taste Troy.

Great video. Can you do a review on the "Blue Acara". Thanks.
I've seen them paired with rainbowfish, and they look great together.

You bet!
Planning for a tank way into the future. How do you feel about a cockatoo dwarf cichlid with the acara?
Would EBA's be okay in a 55? Or would that be too small? How many, if any?
Hi!
I bought two electric blue acaras. I was advised to put them with Malawi cichlid, but they were almost killed overnight. 4 blue acara and one severum will work in a 75g ?

I'm actually looking for an electric blue acara. Are you guys in the Chicago area? I saw you did Coach Donovan's tank.
I have two eba with a angelfish. I'm trying to find a schooling fish who would work with both.any ideas would be awesome. I also have 7 corydoras..55 gallon planted

Could you mix Apistogrammas with the EBA?
love your channel. want to get your thought on if the temperature ideal for clown loaches a bit too high for EBAs?
Thanks! I’ve found them both to be adaptable, with a good range being 77-82
Blood parrots are quite aggressive! Good list
Thanks!

I have a 120g that I want to put Electric blue acara, severum, geophagus in after watch. HOW MANY OF EACH IN A 120g
Any thoughts on these with African dwarf frogs? I have a 55 gallon with two African dwarf frogs, a bristlenose pleco and three silver dollars and trying to figure what to add without causing problems
Can you do one of these with bolivian rams? I wanna know if I can combine these 2 cichlids as I love the both of them
I have a eba and 6 Bolivian rams in a 40b. Never had a problem. It’s been set up for about 5 years.
What about the rainbow Cichlid thank you incredible video
I have Eba with rainbow cichlid had no problems
What about EBA, blood parrots, and angels in a 55 gal?
Can Electric Blue Acara live within a Peacock Chiclid tank when it is well overstocked?
Can blue acara lives with zebra tilapia (buttikoferi)? Thank you
I wouldn't recommend it
@@CichlidBros thank you
Are they good with the apistogramma ramerezi? Pleaseee answer 🫶
Just have a question for you I’m starting a new 220 gallon acrylic aquarium an I’m torn between substrates to use due to scratch factors. What would you recommend?
I always recommend sand with most South American cichlids
Sand for sure
I have 3x electric blues with 1 jack Dempsey and 2x red jewels atm and seem to be ok...at present that is
Very nice
@@CichlidBros I've just added 2 firemouth aswel, I hopefully the red jewels stay how they and fingers crossed there's no fighting
Both my firemouth have had there tail nipped and now all 3 of my arcras have had these nipped aswel, please help and tell me what I should/could do to stop this from happening. Both red jewels and the jack Dempsey tails are fine so I'm guessing it's one of them doing the nipping
Have you ever had Keyhole Cichlids, I just put 3 in my 90 gallon. I hope they work with my tetras
Yep they’re great, peaceful cichlids. Should go well with most tetras
How many could I keep in 75 gallon aquarium
What about the jewel cichlid ?
You are the best
Thank you!
@@CichlidBros ohh i am so surprised you replied bro. You are a real hero . I am big fan of yours.
Corydoras are awesome
Love the Severums! I have a heavily planted tank so I never got one because it heard they are big plant eaters. What’s your experience with that? Also I have some Keyhole Cichlids and a Bolivian Ram. Think they would be okay with a EBA?
In my experience, they’ve eaten every plant I’ve tried. All four of my severums shred up plants quick. Keyholes and rams are great options though!
How will "Electric Blue Acara" do with "Yellow Lab Cichlid "? Fhanks
Would blood patriot go well with corys
Do you think a fire red appistogramma would be too small to be in a 65 gallon tank with the electric blue acara?
As long as you don’t get a small apisto to start, it will usually work
damn ive got them with neon tetra black neon and harlequin rasbora they dont bother eachother yet.
What about green terrors / gold sayums, or standard blue acaras / black acaras? They will even breed with both of those.
Yeah I've found that they're pretty aggressive towards each other, likely due to that reason. So I wouldn't always recommend them together
Will a electric blue Johanni do good with them?
It can be done, but I normally wouldn’t recommend it
Could you put a Senegal bichir with one
Maybe if the EBA is an adult when introduced
Do the red Acara have the same behavior as the blue Acara?
What is your tank's dimensions??? Plz explain
What does Quinn do with all of his fish in his classroom tanks during summer vacation
He’s at the school during all breaks for coaching. So he’s only away from the tanks 1-2 days at a time
LOL Troy look at the stock list for my 120G, all of them have been on your lists :) - but I arrived at this stock list before I saw most of your videos! (video here ruclips.net/video/O2PPPMKgxmk/видео.html )
* 4x electric blue acara
* 5x pearl guorami
* 2x satanoperca jurupari
* 1 gold severum
Absolutely awesome crew of fish, the acaras have bred already and everyone still has enough territory to live in peace. The pearls and cichlids swim together happily with almost no aggression to be seen ever.
Awesome! Good to hear it. Best of luck with the tank!
The three spot, blue, golden, and opaline gouramis can be very ahressive towards each other and other gouramis. Best to leave them out. a Snakeskin gourami would go well but they get big, same for kissing gouramis whichalso get big like clown loaches do, but not as large overall.
Can you tell which hikari food is best suited for blue acara fish?
I usually like a mix of flakes and small pellets. I prefer Xtreme
Tank mate's for jewels? Thanks ....
Can electric blue acara be in a planted tank?
Can Hachet fish live with blue acara?
Should be fine
Can rams go with blue acaras ?
Might be bullies to the rams but it could probably work
Would you say tiger barbs could work?
Yep. A bit nippy tho
Help need, can i have red juvel , blue anacara and Geophagus Tapaj, in same tank? 375 liter? Thanks
Should be fine. Might have some aggression from the jewel

Are they okay with bolivian rams?
Can I keep them in a tank of angels, goldfish, rainbow sharks and plecos?
Would likely be great with angels, rainbow sharks and plecos. Wouldn't recommend it with goldfish
