I used to have an electric blue acara with a school of congo tetras. Gorgeous tank, loved the activity. Also had a couple large mollies who had nowhere else to go, the acara didn't bother them much but did eat the fry.
Yea that’s my problem right now lol I had tons and tons of mollies so I got the electric blue as a center piece fish/ keep population down but now I’m almost out of mollies. I’m trying to see what fish I should for tank mates
Love the electric blue acara! I have 5 I bought very small in a 29g quarantine tank. They are growing like weeds! One of the friendliest fish I have owned in my 30 years of fish keeping. I know they just want food but they are really glad to see me anyhow! Lol. I will be retiring a 75g and updating that tank to a new 125g. Then I will add the acara with 4 angel fish and 2 young Severums. I can’t wait. Next on the list will be a geo or 2
I just picked up two of these, shop keeper gave them to me for free (upgraded my tank size) so im very pleased :D thanks for the effort put into this video
i had a 55g with 4 acara and 2 parrots. It went amazing for 2 years! great choice one of my parrots was about 7” and thickk, his name was giannis, my prized possesion well 3 days ago my wave maker broke (main source of oxygen for tank) I went out for around 4 hours, Came back to 2 dead parrots, and 2 dead acaras, the last 2 EBA’s were holding on for dear life at the top of the tank gasping for air. I rushed to the store and got a bubble wand, within the hour they were saved🥲 incredible fish

I have a 75G, I only havw 2 acara in it and wanted to add a severum cichlid, I've always wanted one but I believe it may be over crowded for these fish at full size, do you have any opinions for me ?
That was informational. I would like to keep a few of these fish. I plan on getting a 150 gallon tank one day. working on getting money together for it. I love all three of your videos. Thank you for everything.
Just the video I was looking for! I have one tank, now, a 30g community - tetras and corydoras. The LFS has the Electric Blue Acara, and it was all I could do today to keep myself from bringing it home and putting it in this tank. I have decided to get another tank, a 55g or 75g (most likely 75g), for a cichlid community. The LFS is not encouraging of the "community" aspect. This video gives me confidence that I should be able to pull it off!. I really want that Electric Blue badly and several of the ones you put on your list. Thanks very much! I've watched two of your videos, and I'm off to check out the others.
All of my Electric Blue Acara’s tank mates are on your list. 😂. 1 Electric Blue Acara 1 Geophagas Surinamisis 1 Blood Parrot Cichlid 1 Convict Cichlid 1 Albino Bristle Nose Pleco 1 Rubbernose Pleco 4 Emerald Green Corydoras 12 Colombian Tetras Wait… I forgot about the two bumblebee catfish, but don’t think they count since me and the other fish never see them until I pull the rocks up during water changes. Lol Update: just added a Convict today as a substitute for a firemouth that wasn’t fitting in well, and tried a convict as you had him as an honorable mention despite other research that made me leery. Glad I did, they’re all getting along fine.
I love my electric blue acaras. I've got 3 in my 90 gallon south American tank. With 5 silver dollars, red spotted severum, heros liberifer, 2 heckelii, a Texas cichlid and an Oscar. It's a super peaceful tank we love it
Love the electric blue acara!!! Fyi im sad that they closed old orchard aquarium that store was amazing…. Cant wait to see the update on the 75g peacock cichlid tank!!!

I have two eba with a angelfish. I'm trying to find a schooling fish who would work with both.any ideas would be awesome. I also have 7 corydoras..55 gallon planted
The electric blue acara, Sean's to fit with a huge variety of cichlid's, I think that you could make a video informing, with witch fishes they don't do well, but this video is always helpful for who wants to have several fishes in the same tank. 👍
Hey guys I love the videos there really informative and your tanks look amazing. One thing about the videos that could be improved in my opinion is make the videos less scripted/robotic sounding for example the king of diy said when he used to read a script less people liked the videos vs when he showed his personality and just talked like he was talking to someone in person. I hope you didn’t take any offence to this, it’s just my opinion.
Hi! I bought two electric blue acaras. I was advised to put them with Malawi cichlid, but they were almost killed overnight. Managed to save them and added where I keep bigger goldfish with some congo terras and Buenos Aires tetras even some Bosmani Rainbows. All seem well at first, as the blue acara got litte bigger they seem to team up on the bigger size gold fish, almost 10-20 times their size. And eventually I need to remove the goldfish to hospitalize. The smaller goldfish, even some that is only 5 to 8 times their size they seem to leave alone. I'm now thinking of ditching the idea of haring a goldfish fish tank and convert it to a Oscar tank. OT is family big. I should be able to have to oscars with the acaras in their. Probably have to poulate the otter smaller rainbow and terras fish as Oscar start to out grow them. Any thoughts, seeing as you guys are the pros coming to ciclids😊
I have 3 angels, 2 dwarf cichlids, a bala shark, in 55g. I really like the ccichlids because they're colorful. I'm thinking of adding blue acaras, is there any other fish that any of you can recommend that I can add peacefully to the tank? Thanks in advance
I would probably recommend a bigger tank first. The Bala Shark especially will already outgrow the tank. EBAs would fit with that stocking in a 125g or larger
I have 2 med angels 1 med kissing gourami 2 golden gourami 6 zebra danios 6 black widow tetra 3 bristlenose catfish 3 albino corydoras And a random yoyo loach that we rescued. All very happy together everyone says they’re amazed how peaceful our angels and kissing gourami are together Would an aCara fit in that community ok do you think?
I had 2 electric blue acaras. One fish dominated the other so I split them up. One died when I had an ick outbreak in my 40 gallon tank... But the dominant one has thrived in my 75 gallon. He's worked out very well with my Columbian and Bruno's Aires tetras ... I also have different types of corydoraa and bristlebose plecos....... And five female Bettas. The tank has been successful for a year now. I only lost 2 mystery snails
I would think festivum cichlid would be another good choice. They are a nice, semi-aggressive cichlid that get along well with angelfish and severum, so I would think blue acara would be a good neighbor, too, but I haven’t tried that myself.
What are peoples thoughts one 4 angelfish and 2 electric blues in a 55 gallon? Just wanna know before I make a purshase. I have 2 blues in the 55 as of now and they are happy healthy and I believe paired because the never leave each other’s side but haven’t seen any eggs or fry
Both my firemouth have had there tail nipped and now all 3 of my arcras have had these nipped aswel, please help and tell me what I should/could do to stop this from happening. Both red jewels and the jack Dempsey tails are fine so I'm guessing it's one of them doing the nipping

Black acaras are a good choice. I’ve found Green Terrors and EBAs to go after each other some. Only cichlid that I’ve seen the EBA really go after and fight
Would it be okay for a blue acara for a center piece. 3 red apristogrammas and 2 or 3 electric yellow cichlids in a 29 gallon breeder? I'm trying to set up another tank . Thank youu
Hi Guys, Great videos and I have been watching lots of them. Well, I have a 66 gal Fluval tank. I am thing of getting Mbunas for it. But the more of your videos I watch. I am liking the South American Cichlids. I would like your opinion on what SAC I could consider for me 66 gal tank. Lots of choices, I just need to pick the right ones. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! A few great options would be geo tapajos, electric blue acara, maybe one severum. Could also do peaceful smaller cichlids like keyholes, festivum and apistogramma
@@CichlidBros I finally upgraded to a 60 gallon tank. My thought is 2-3 EBA, firemouth cichlid, and either 6 roseline sharks or 5 silver dollars. Will these all work in a 60 gallon? Thanks for the help!
I love clown loach but they never come out of hiding. What about Bala shark? My 8 inch Balas usually get on with everyone but after so many years of growing them, I'm worried about upsetting them
I have a 120 with 1 Oscar, 2 plecos, 1 Severum, 1 adult convict and like 10+ convict juveniles most likely I will get rid of most convicts but am I still good to add 1 or 2 blue acaras? Or am I overstocked? I have like double the filtration a 120 needs
Just have a question for you I’m starting a new 220 gallon acrylic aquarium an I’m torn between substrates to use due to scratch factors. What would you recommend?
Hi, can electric blue acaras and firemouth cichlids become tank mates with redhead cichlids. I can see half of the tail for one of my Electric blue acaras is missing , also one other small blue acara has disappeared in my tank ? Please help me as I cannot identify the predators. I have 4 electric blue acara (small size) 2 blue acaras (small size) 3 fire-mouth cichlids ( small size), 3 redhead cichlids (large size), 2 blood parrot cichlids (large) and 2 gold severums - (large size). I have 200 litre tank 4 feet long approx. Please advice. Many thanks.
Do you think I could have Corys, Acaras, a single Angelfish, and maybe some Tetras in a 55 with mostly aquasoil and pebble substrate and living plants? Asking because I'm just getting back into fish after like 15 years and don't want to make anybody uncomfortable. It seems like all the fish would get along with each other but my concern is if the environment would suit them and if the plants would survive.
I used to have an electric blue acara with a school of congo tetras. Gorgeous tank, loved the activity. Also had a couple large mollies who had nowhere else to go, the acara didn't bother them much but did eat the fry.
