Nah, Big Boss never was evil. To the most simple eyes maybe looks like that, but things are very much complicated than.
An youtuber here from Brazil already did a full one hour video where he explains detail by detail why Big Boss never was a villain.

One time, me and my friend were having a trampoline battle, and I said, "Spread your wings and fly! God be with you." in a Major Zero voice right before drop-kicking him off the edge while he was mid-jump. It's become a running joke between us ever since.

@@Zinc_Nitrogen Also, Ocelot was better suited to revolvers than he was with Semi-Automatics. He kept instinctively falling back to revolver techniques even when using a semi-auto, which due to how such techniques cause one to flex their wrist in a way that absorbs recoil, would mean being prone to two things: 1) Gun Jam, and 2) Gun "Bite" from the slide clipping the hand.
The latter is actually quite a common occurance when revolver techniques are attempted on Semi-autos, and the few guns that lack such a "Bite" are the likes of the C96, mainly due to the raised bore axis that actually causes the bolt to whiff the hand.
Of course, using a C96 comes with it's own problems... Mainly that even when compared to revolvers, the weight of the gun is mainly set right in front of the trigger rather than being snug on the grip like it would be with both Revolvers and grip-fed Semi-automatics. This means you may lack the recoil, but now you are also dealing with a _highly_ unbalanced gun that also had an absurdly long barrel and not enough weight on the grip to balance it out. This was actually the biggest reason the C96 fell out of favour the more wide-spread grip-fed semi-autos became.
This is likely the reason why Ocelot picked the Single Action Army. "More bullets for the gun" is actually a very weak trade off when you consider his absurd aiming skills (Able to nail a soldier on the other side of a wall by predicting the Ricochet of his bullet) as well the fact that the only semi-auto compatible with his skills and techniques was the C96... And Guns like the Bergmann were not only no longer in production, but they were also from nations that were giving Russia the Hairy eyeball.
The SAA was not only a widely circulated gun, but IRL, many such firearms were sold to the Tsar and many other noble families in Russia in the late 1800s to early 1900s... And some were even engraved much like Ocelot's first revolver. Also, while the Nagant functions similarly to the SAA, the Nagant Revolver was also prone to having an absurdly heavy trigger pull regardless of wether it was "Double action Mode" or "Single action mode"... And during the soviet era, many Nagant revolvers were infamous for using _soft iron_ in their construction in an attempt to build them in quantity rather than quality... Making the use of Nagant revolvers post-Color revolution a game of russian roulette.
So yeah, likely reason why Ocelot uses SAAs rather than any other gun... Also, he is a Fan of Spaghetti Westerns.
Remember when Snake asked Para-Medic about the film My Mother was a Teenage Spider Queen from Mars?
it's the only time in the whole game Snake ever reciprocates to Para-Medic's film buffness , and he never bothers again.

My favourite part of MGS is that Big Boss never developed cancer or leukemia from being right next to a nuke. He knows CQC after all.

Dude. Honestly this is probably one the best ways to try and explain the feeling of metal gear solid 3 to someone who has never touched a metal gear game. Feels almost exactly as chaotic, fast yet precise and can drag on in places you never knew you wanted them to drag out on with sprinkles of 80's movie one liners. Along with by the time you realize this, you've been hit with random philosophy about life and emotions and junk. Absolutely phenomenal. I tip thy hat good sir

It’ll be really interesting to see how they structure the action moments in the cutscenes in the remake considering how many bonkers comedic moments there are for such a serious title.
