About the Metroid manga, the truth is even better.
It isn't that her gender was a mystery. That panel was a part of a "promotional video" that Samus did for herself. She chose to be portrayed like a cool action man that get all the ladies.

The only thing I got out of 8 years of catholic school is that Jesus did in fact sass his parents. So 12-year-old me was perfectly fine.
This is true and I love that passage but I always wondered why it basically skipped ahead to Jesus being like 30 after that without any more about what he was like as a teenager, we know he got trained as a carpenter but that's about it. At the age that most of us Christians wear WWJD bracelets religiously (pun intended), we have NO IDEA what Jesus would have done.

Either that or all the other stories are repeats of this one in that they all involve Jesus astounding everyone with his knowledge and wisdom, so Like just didn't bother writing them down.
