these are $180 in 2023. im sticking with my $100 pocket 1 with pro control wheel. i might mount it on a kite with. i'll have try the waterproof case

Thank you for confirming that Osmo Pocket One's ND filters are compatible with Pocket 2, saved me $40-60 on filters.
I initially thought of this same issue (3:35), but all you have to do is put it in the other way... which I think is what DJI originally had in mind. If you look closely, the round yellow foam instert will then line up as a proper rest for the back of the gimbal. This takes care of accidentally hitting the power button. ;)

I wish the next DJI Pocket would have a portrait mode shooting without having to rotate the whole device so I could take videos without having someone hold the camera. All of social media platforms are doing vertical video now

To remove the handle, press the catch, then push the handle towards the main body as if to connect the two - this actually releases the catch and you can then separate the handle from the body quite easily.
Zoom is digital so the available zoom ratios depend on how much of the sensor is already in use - with 1080p you've got more pixels of the sensor available to do a bigger zoom. It's just a matter of maths.
The processor in the device can only handle so much. That's why some features are only available if the device has free resources at the set data rate.

I already lost the top part of the microphone, but I managed to recover it, you really need to be very careful, the solution for this was to tie a line so you don't lose it again!
Hi Young360, the difference between high quality and battery saver is the bitrate, high quality would be 100 bitrate and battery saver between 25-60 bitrate, in my opinion.. And yes, we need 4K motion timelapse...

If you insert pocket 2 to the case from left to right, the power button will face inside.
separately, it is easy for the inner part the case to scratch my gimbal and leave some white mark. Not sure if it is the same in your case.
Oh, I did notice some white mark on my gimbal....and now i get it after yoir comment... it is some kind of scratch from inside the case....🤦♀️
i thought about inserting pocket 2 the other way round but then lanyard goes to inside, which i dont particularly like...altho yes, i dont see much harm done that way either 🤣
Young.. my kitten feels secure, couldnt shake it off.. same with wide angle lens it wont fall out of the case. And the Do it all handle... very easy to remove! Maybe you have a dodgy Pocket 2? The only problem with mine was the gimbal head was dead😂

1. You can put the camera the other way with the power button facing in!
2. I don't have any problem taking the bottom handle. You need to wiggle left n right. There is always a technique on how you take out. Product designers do not created something which is too hard for users handle.
I would say the reason why some modes are not in 4K could be due to the processing power. Maybe the current MicroSD cards are not able to handle the load. Again, I am sure they have tried and tested.
So far, after using for couple of weeks, I love Pocket 2. I believe this is one of the best compact video cam for holiday. I mean, seriously we aren't shooting Hollywood action movies or stunts. Size really matters and there are only so much you can squeeze so much tech into such small device. I am a professional videographer and photographer. As far as I know, videocams have come a very very long way.
Pocket 2 is considered a fuss free with very little adjustments needed to execute a shot.
Besides RODE wireless microphones that you use, Sabinetek Dual Mic is another wireless mic which is quite good. I use this as it's small, compact and superlight.
My experience with Pocket 1 is that it can get real hot pretty fast. Is it the same with Pocket 2?

They should also add removable battery on the next release.
To fix the dead cat falling off just pinch the plastic prongs slightly to make them a tiny bit larger. That allows it to clip in properly and I can now hold the mic by the dead cat without it falling off. Why DJI didn't do something similar to Rode with the dead cat I have no idea. Agree 100% abouut the wide angle lens falling out. it does it all the time and the magnet is simply not strong enough. I have also had the phone adapters fall out of the case and that is also rather irritating when they fall somewhere hard to reach. Good video.
*Young, I agree with you about the lack of no 4K time-lapse, and for this specific reason I REFUSE TO BUY THIS CAMERA ! This is a dealbraker for my kind of film work. I will keeep and continue to use my orginal OSMO Pocket and ignore this newer camera.*

I agree! Why in the hell are the Do It All Handle and Detachable Base so blasted hard to remove? I keep turning the Pocket 2 on while trying to remove those things!

I agree with most.... You have Pocket 2 the wrong way in the cover. Check out DJI's video, it is not the same way as pocket 1.... you might need to remove the yellow foam inside the cover.
Also, did you try to remove the tripod mount... pretty challenging.... I suggest to use the tripod as a lever.... worked for me.... but be careful.

Zooming is done by cropping the image. This explains why you can only have half of zoom with double resolution.
Good video! But I believe these points can easily be updated with a firmware update, I will be getting mine my end of this month super excited, since I only used iPhone 5 XD

DJI Pocket has a return policy similar to GoPro (30 days)?
depending on country.. i find USA always has great return policies tho if u r from the US
but i think some of these issues will be addressed in firmware update... IF u wanna wait

Thanks for the video. I have created a bunch of videos on my channel about the Osmo Pocket and now the Pocket 2 so I really enjoyed this video. The Pocket 2 is so much fun to shoot with but I will agree with you there are things I do not like about the camera. thanks fo the video.
For 500 I think mini 2 or 360 camera may be better choice because our newest cell phone is stable handheld most the time now... 性价比来说 可能mini2或360相机比较好。 毕竟手机很强了

I would be interested to know how you feel about the Pocket 2 versus the Sony ZV-1 for vlogging. You really seemed to like the ZV-1, but do you feel like the Pocket 2 is better because it is more portable/stable, or is the ZV-1 better because fo the 1" sensor, larger screen, etc.?
I guess I would position my question as "if you could only have or the other, which would you pick?"

um, for photo, ZV1 is FAR better. but for video, Pocket 2 is definitely stable! i am more of a video person...🤔 for me, if i didnt have a6400, i would kindabprefer zv1 hahaha
Most of the complains are not software issues (the ones about the quality and fps and slow motion) these are hardware stuff, you need more advanced camera and more expensive one to shoot high resolution with high fps or slow motion.

Got mine yesterday and I already scratched the gimbal head/neck because the case have some hard plastic spacers that prevent the gimbal head from moving while inside the case.

You can flip the pocket and the power button will be inside. No accidental pressing after that :)

I live in Mexico City, two weeks ago I bought the dji osmo pocket 2 combo creator, in Mexico it is much more expensive, it cost me $ 700
yah, other than china and usa, price is more.expensive in most places.

According to the manual, the power button should face inside the case instead.
I wish they can produce battery pack and can mount in the bottom to extend another 2 hours that just nice for whole day recording.

The quality mode compare to battery saver mode, is noise reduction. So it's useful when come to low light conditions.

I’m in buying process now but can’t really decide yet as it is very expensive and I don’t want to end regretting it. Great review by the way and my question is are you able to upload videos from dji pocket 2 directly to RUclips or do you need to transfer it first to phone then upload to RUclips ?

I can’t use DJI alone to directly upload to RUclips. 😔 My phone has not enough space anymore to do vlogging and editing and I thought this might be the answer plus it’s so small and handy hardly notice in taking video on the street. I’m getting more and more conscious when people staring at me while taking video outside😔. I have a disability like dislocated hips so I walk differently like limping so I can’t help myself to get conscious. 😣
yah, you at least need a phone to upload stuff from Pocket 2 because you can only do that by downloading first to your mobile phone..😅 the downside of getting new devices is that your phone may also need to be upgraded...sigh sigh...the world of tech companies.......

The missing 4K Motionlapse is really annoying and the main reason why I am not buying it for now!

Thanks for sharing your discovered cons of the pocket 2. I recognized some, but not all;
1) If you put your pocket in the case, place it with the on/off button down. Problem solved. ;-)
2) Zoom on the pocket is digital. So 4x with 4k video will be too much, and quality loss will ruin your footage...
3) I was surprised you had such good audio being cycling, wearing a mask and putting the mic that low!
Some other cons I found;
1) 8x slow-motion is not possible via the Mimo app, works only without the phone attached directly on the pocket 2
2) there is a lot of barrel distortion when using the wide-angle lens. Try walking through doorways...
3) 64mp... sounds great! But do not expect to much because of the relative small sensor!

I own the Huawei P30 Pro as well. Photo's much better, especially by night. But for the video, the Pocket 2 wins easily. Sooo... What to do... Nothing! I take both with me. XD

I got livestream working using RTMP. It crashed a few times trying to go live.. and also, the stream froze after 3 minutes.. twice... Early version maybe ':)

Yeah, how many people would really use 64MP photos? Even the best phone camera (iPhone) doesn’t have it. Maybe it was easy for DJI to add it as a marketing gimmick.

As always, this is another top-notch review because you come from a place of truth. Thanks for confirming that OSMO Pocket and Pocket 2 have swappable accessories, filters, and lenses. I've been waiting for that confirmation from other RUclipsrs. BTW, are the lens faces of both devices sized exactly the same? How does the official DJI wide-angle lens compare to the Freewell Wide-Angle lens? Is the official one clearer with less aberration? Finally, I notice that Osmo Pocket tends to deliver a tad sharper images, do you think it has something to do with the new imaging algorithm or HDR? Cheers! You're the best!
the lens size are the same so filters all fit fine for either device. as for freewell wide angle, i cannot find it...🤣😅......😅😅😅

The wide angle lense... you have to push it on for it to click lock on the lense.

You can turn the pocket on either side so the power button doesn't need to be facing up in the case.
Biggesst flaw for me was that it takes about 6 sec till the external mic is regogniced .. Often it dosent connect at All ...
i totally hated pocket 2 but i love my pocket 1. dji pocket suppose to get better & easier but seems like physically you need to carry this and that to connect the optional stuff. the other thing i hate about it wide angle still need to carry small little lens? the fimi is better then. as for the software, i can't comment much as i only owned mavic air 2 and dji osmo pocket. as far as i would say, 4k60fps is awesome but i hoping to see 4k120fps in pocket 2 with 12-bit/dolbyvision (which is impossible).

- when you recording left and right.. the video will be jitter or feel like losing a framerate
To me the biggest problem is the image quality. The dynamic range is not great and the footage looks very artificial.

The zoom on this thing is digital, so it makes a perfect sense to have 2x zoom on 4K and 4x zoom on 2K. When you take your 4K video at 2x and then crop the middle 25%, you get 2K at 4x zoom. In other words, there simply aren't enough pixels to get 4K resolution at 4x zoom (in fact even at 2x there's some stretching).
Hi Young! Lol! I continued watching after I asked my question in your other video,, so you kinda answered my question through this video.. im contacting their customer support now about my DJI mobile 3 issue.. how long did their customer service support get back to you?
The worst thing about it is, it's not splash-proof. Even smartphones are water-resistant. So if I wanna go outdoor on a cloudy day, I'd better take my smartphone or action cam than this expensive Blogging Gadget.
The next most important feature it's missing for bloggers is, it cannot go on live. The Mimo app is still unable to connect with FB RUclips WhatsApp Zoom or TikTok to do live or with Instagram to upload online.
The third complaint is Mimo app can control only one device but it should be allowed to control multi DJI devices as a control station rather than a control panel.
If there is any other company that wants to challenge DJI, should come up with these features.
Superb video ! We bought it recently and it's true that the wide angle len can fall out of the case. So be careful with that. 👍

I heard that the battery life lasts around 6 hours while full charged. Have you found that this is true or does it last longer? Can you charge it while recording or use a power bank in between filming to extend the batt life?
I understand what you mean about "no 4K time-lapse" - but you would be asking the little pocket to render a 4K movie! The way to get a 4K time-lapse is to do it the old fashioned way and get the pocket to take hundreds of full-res photographs and create the movie in Lightroom or another application. The quality is far far higher and professional looking. :-). ( I know you already know this Young :-) )
The main complaint for me is that the camera won't start working at all unless I want to use the mobile app. The app only starts when I sign that I want to be tracked and hand over all control over my privacy. It does not matter?
Two wireless mics-for interviews or 2 vlog cohosts-cannot be used at once, right? And a wired, plug-in mic also cannot be used simultaneously with the wireless mic? How do you recommend capturing the voices of two people at once, if the built-in mics are too echo-y or are picking up too much ambient noise?

Awesome video! Here's a tip to put the Pocket 2 properly in the case: turn off Pocket 2, then within 30 seconds put it in the case with the sdcard facing upwards. The power button is facing inside so you won't accidentally press it, and the lens in tucked in nicely protected. If you place the camera in the case after the 30 seconds, when the camera is "relaxed", just adjust the gimbal so that the round part is facing up, sdcard is facing up and it's very well protected. The lens might rub up against the soft felt but it's ok. My most recent videos are all filmed with Pocket 2 and it's just an amazing camera. So very happy I got it!!! Looking forward to firmware updates too to fix some other issues you mentioned. I think the ongoing support of their products is excellent!
I actually dislike the word HATE, so I'm glad you used words like 'complaint' and 'dislike' and 'don't like' throughout the video. You looked really angry - NOT!! You don't want to use the dead kitten during monsoon season. Just test the dead kitten on the Pocket 2 while you're riding your bike and see how fast you can go before it blows off.
same altho i did use HATE on the title...😅😅 lol, if the deadkitten falls off then..it is a "bye bye" 🤣😅
@@Young360 Try and use the dead kitten on an open area where you can easily retrieve it if it blows off. It should only be 5-10m behind you if you stop suddenly. Go on, try it!

One of my main issues is more with DJI memo app. I wanted to have the option to move the on screen joystick on the mobile phone from right side to left side of the screen. Not a fan of the split joy sticks.

You did use the pocket 2 on a bicycle. Have seen rare comments about the threshold to shut-save the gimbal. Is it possible to held the pocket 2 while the hands being on the handle bar? Or is the a normal road to shaky to even attach hands to the handle? Mounting on the bicycle seems then a no-go. Is there some chest-mount accessory?
um, i just rode at a bike road, so it was very smooth....and i dont have a mount...😅😅😅 just handheld.....

Useful comments, this will hopefully be taken on board by DJI... The other thing I noticed is if you use the Pocket extension rod there is no option to switch gimbal adjust/zoom mode on the stick... It seems some of these accessories are still the Pocket version and haven't been updated although they are compatible...
