What a really nice port! We have a cruise booked for May 2024 with a stop at Amber Cove. We have never been so thanks for putting together this preview video, it looks great and we are excited to visit next year. The mountains in the background are spectacular!!
@@TalkingCruise Thanks so much! Just came back from our Eastern Caribbean Cruise and we loved it, had an awesome time an your tips and info were so helpful👍🏼
Hey Chris! I assume you were on the Mardi Gras! We were on that sailing at the end of January. We're lucky because my wife is from Honduras and we speak Spanish, so we found someone to take us all over Puerto Plata. The Macorix distillery makes excellent rum. The Amber museum is beautiful, and of course, the chocolate factory tour is in Smell-o-vision! We will stop there again on the Horizon in a couple of weeks! Thanks for the cool vlog!
Informative video. Did you see anything accessible for someone confined to a wheelchair? I am taking my husband in the spring on Mardi Gras. The island does not yet have a wheelchair taxi. Anything within walking/rolling distance of the port?
Hi Vets Wife, thanks for watching. Once off the ship, the pathway from the pier to the activities is pretty smooth, so a wheelchair could navigate. It's not too far to the pool area, but the closest amenities are the shops in the welcome center.
Hi Lisa, thanks for watching. Unfortunately no, those onboard packages do not transfer to the island. While Amber Cove is not a private island destination, even at other Carnival Corp brand islands like Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays, you must either a separate drink package or pay for each drink.
Hi George, thanks for watching. Yes, you may venture outside the area if you wish, don't think this port has the ability to stamp passport, but you can ask at the information center on island.
Hi lee yingling, thanks for watching. All of those excursions can be found on Carnival's website www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/amber-cove?rootCategoryCode=shoreex
Hi Linda, thanks for watching. The Amber Cove ship schedule shows Norwegian Encore, Escape and Breakaway arrivals only through May 2022. There will also be two stops for the Norwegian Getaway in July.
Hi desi9920, thanks for watching. There is an ATV Adventure tour and off-road buggy tour. Check Carnival's website at www.carnival.com/shore-excursions?q=:featured:port:Amber+Cove%2C+Dominican+Republic&sort=featured&page=0
My family and I will be there in June. How do we reserve the bungalows out on the water? You said use of the facilities at the resort is free. Do we just show them something from the cruise?
Hi LaKiia McCall, thanks for watching. The closest beach would be Playa de Bachata, about 15 minutes walk, but you could also take a taxi. Excursions are available to book at the Amber Cove cruise port as well.
@@TalkingCruise We are boarding the Celebration, Apr 2023. Thanks for sharing this video, I was curious what all was available and what the port looks like! Fist time cruisers so all of this information is so helpful to a mom who likes to plan!
Hi Heath Hawkins, thanks for watching. No beach directly at Amber Cove, but there are some a short taxi ride away. Check out Google maps, enter Amber Cove cruise port and you'll see a few options.
Hi Dipty, thanks for watching. There are beaches close by but outside the Amber Cove facility. You may be able to walk to the beaches, but I'd recommend getting local transportation.
Hi PILOT FRENCH, thanks for watching. If you have an orignal U.S. birth certificate and drivers license that will suffice, only if the cruise is "closed loop" (starts and ends at the same port).
Hi TravelingSag, thanks for watching. To my knowledge, there is still no cost for the water slides, but wouldn't be surprised if they charge for them now.
Hi Patti, thanks for watching. The official Amber Cove cruise port is not a beach destination, but a short taxi ride away you can find beaches if you want.
Hi johanna chorba, thanks for watching. For any type of beach experience, you'll want to explore outside the Amber Cove port area or book an excursion.
Hi Shenik, thanks for watching. No cost activities include pool, waterslides, kids splash area and basketball. Food, beverages and excursions (including zip line) are an extra cost.
Hi Lee, thanks for watching. The Amber Cove facility does not have any beach access. You can book an excursion to one of the beaches or resorts nearby or in the Puerto Plata area.
Hi seanthompson1980, thanks for watching. Unless you venture away from the port area, most cruise line controlled destinations lack any cultural substance.
What a really nice port! We have a cruise booked for May 2024 with a stop at Amber Cove. We have never been so thanks for putting together this preview video, it looks great and we are excited to visit next year. The mountains in the background are spectacular!!
Hi robbevans5718, thanks for watching. It really is a nice place to spend a day, enjoy!
Thank you for the great video! I have shared it with my group, who will visit there in 2024!
Hi Where Next Travel & Tours, thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for the video! We are going to stop there in June of 2024 on Carnival Celebration and we booked a hillside cabana.
Hi CaptainColdyron222, thanks for watching. Nice, I'm sure you'll enjoy that.
Going 1-8 June 25! What you think?
Great vid. This is one of the cruise ports in our upcoming trip. Thanks for sharing 👍

We was just there this past Thursday on Carnival Magic ✨
Hi Lucinda, thanks for watching. Did you enjoy your time at Amber Cove?
How was it
Great Video, Thanks for sharing.
If we have purchased a Bev package within the ship, are the beverages included at the pool resort?
Hi Lisa, thanks for watching. Unfortunately no, those onboard packages do not transfer to the island. While Amber Cove is not a private island destination, even at other Carnival Corp brand islands like Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays, you must either a separate drink package or pay for each drink.
Stopping there in October 2024‼️
Hi remymarquis5536, thanks for watching. Enjoy your cruise.
Beautiful
Hi Evelyn, thanks for watching. It is very nice there, hope you get to enjoy it soon.
Looks nice, can you walk outside the area? Much to see . Oh yes, is there a place to get your passport stamped?
Great video
Hi George, thanks for watching. Yes, you may venture outside the area if you wish, don't think this port has the ability to stamp passport, but you can ask at the information center on island.
This video was very helpful. I just wish there were more details included I.e names of excursions location etc.
Hi lee yingling, thanks for watching. All of those excursions can be found on Carnival's website www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/amber-cove?rootCategoryCode=shoreex
❤to go!
Hi Theresa, thanks for watching.
So to swim at and enjoy the day at the pools and slides it’s free? What’s the catch?
Hi jessicahintzman3765, thanks for watching. Yes, included with your cruise fare.
Sorry is that the port where NCL encore docks since the escape ran ashore at the other port in puerto plata ?
Hi Linda, thanks for watching. The Amber Cove ship schedule shows Norwegian Encore, Escape and Breakaway arrivals only through May 2022. There will also be two stops for the Norwegian Getaway in July.
Hi was wondering do you know if there were any dune buggy excursions at the port ?
Hi desi9920, thanks for watching. There is an ATV Adventure tour and off-road buggy tour. Check Carnival's website at www.carnival.com/shore-excursions?q=:featured:port:Amber+Cove%2C+Dominican+Republic&sort=featured&page=0
Are the pools near to the beach like Carnival's private island in the Bahamas?
Hi Regina, thanks for watching. Not right along the beach area, it is a bit of a walk.
My family and I will be there in June. How do we reserve the bungalows out on the water? You said use of the facilities at the resort is free. Do we just show them something from the cruise?
Hi Marcie, thanks for watching. The bungalows are not included, you'll need to reserve them as a shore excursion on Carnival's website.
Hello. What is the closest beach to this port? Is it walking distance? Can you purchase a beach excursion after you get off of the ship?
Hi LaKiia McCall, thanks for watching. The closest beach would be Playa de Bachata, about 15 minutes walk, but you could also take a taxi. Excursions are available to book at the Amber Cove cruise port as well.
any idea when you will be touring celebration?
Hi Cameron, thanks for watching. I'll be onboard at some point shortly after she arrived in Miami in the Fall.
@@TalkingCruise We are boarding the Celebration, Apr 2023. Thanks for sharing this video, I was curious what all was available and what the port looks like! Fist time cruisers so all of this information is so helpful to a mom who likes to plan!
Are the pool and slides free for traveling who come with the cruise?
Hi Tal Levi, thanks for watching. Yes, both are free to use for cruise guests.
@@TalkingCruise Thanks !!
Do other cruise lines use this dock? We will be on MSC. The port is listed as Puerto Plata.
Hi Charles, thanks for watching. Puerto Plata has it's own cruise port which is also quite nice.
What is the earliest that the shops open in the morning ?
Hi Albert, thanks for watching. Obviously on sea days only, typically around 10am.
Is there a Beach as part of Amber Cove, or do you need to take a taxi somewhere else?
Hi Heath Hawkins, thanks for watching. No beach directly at Amber Cove, but there are some a short taxi ride away. Check out Google maps, enter Amber Cove cruise port and you'll see a few options.
Hello! Are there beaches that are free and walking distance?
Hi Dipty, thanks for watching. There are beaches close by but outside the Amber Cove facility. You may be able to walk to the beaches, but I'd recommend getting local transportation.
How much are the rickshaw rides? Are the cash only? Do they accept USD?
Hi Connie, thanks for watching. No charge, just accept tips.
I'm wondering am I able to do an island tour from Amber cove?
Hi Javash, thanks for watching. Yes, excursions are available to tour the surrounding areas.
What is the average price for drinks at the denim up bar? How do we pay? Cash, credit card or room credit?
Hi Trudy, thanks for watching. I recall seeing average drink prices around $10. Cash is the best way to pay.
Beautiful port and thx u so kindly for sharing
Hi Anitra, thanks for watching.
I’ll be sailing with Princess and this is one of the stops. I didn’t know it was Carnival owned
Hi Jodi, thanks for watching. Enjoy your Princess cruise.
do you know the charge for the rickshaws?
Hi Jennifer, thanks for watching. No charge, but tips are appreciated.
Nice
Hi lanesteele240, thanks for watching.
Water slides aren't free anymore. They charge $5 for the day when we were there this past April.
Hi MelaniaMoore-ui3bc, thanks for watching. One thing that is constant in the cruise industry is change.
Hi, do I need a passport for that cruise or my US ID is fine ?
Hi PILOT FRENCH, thanks for watching. If you have an orignal U.S. birth certificate and drivers license that will suffice, only if the cruise is "closed loop" (starts and ends at the same port).
@@TalkingCruise thank you very much .
Hello! Can non cruise ships guests pay to use this area? Thanks!
Hi Valerie, thanks for watching. Not accessible unless via a cruise ship, it is tightly controlled.
12/2/24 - heard the slides aren’t free any more - can anyone confirm?
Hi TravelingSag, thanks for watching. To my knowledge, there is still no cost for the water slides, but wouldn't be surprised if they charge for them now.
I hope everybody have bless day
You as well!
Nice Channel.
Thanks, I appreciate that.
I didn't see anything about a beach and getting in the ocean?
Hi Patti, thanks for watching. The official Amber Cove cruise port is not a beach destination, but a short taxi ride away you can find beaches if you want.
Any free beach access?
Hi johanna chorba, thanks for watching. For any type of beach experience, you'll want to explore outside the Amber Cove port area or book an excursion.
Can we visit the neighborhood
Hi sherdinalong8502, thanks for watching. Yes, you can explore outside the port area.
Is it free to swim in the pool?
Hi Jeanette, thanks for watching. There is no fee to use the pool and watersides.
Can you confirm the free stuff at Andre cove please
Hi Shenik, thanks for watching. No cost activities include pool, waterslides, kids splash area and basketball. Food, beverages and excursions (including zip line) are an extra cost.
So basically it’s Grand Turk but in the DR
Hi Todd, thanks for watching. Similar concept, but there is more to do at Amber Cove and I like the surroundings more.
What about the beaches
Hi Lee, thanks for watching. The Amber Cove facility does not have any beach access. You can book an excursion to one of the beaches or resorts nearby or in the Puerto Plata area.
I noticed you glazed over the area right outside the market. how ghetto is it and why not do your subscribers the justice of showing it to them?
Hi BJJ and BS, thanks for watching. There really wasn't much more to see there and the vendors were a little pushy, so I didn't stay there long.
Labadee, Haiti much better cruise port. This one not so bad but seems washed of culture and bland.
Hi seanthompson1980, thanks for watching. Unless you venture away from the port area, most cruise line controlled destinations lack any cultural substance.
why does he keeps starting his dialogue with " if you're looking"
Hi Mike, thanks for watching and pointing this out. Aside from your obvious issue with my choice of words, I hope you still enjoyed the video.
Maybe when you make a cruise video you can do better? 🙄 Also, the "if you're looking" is quite common in this type of video.
