Where does the 5 washer go??
It’s sorta a mystery. I called Weber a few years ago about it and they just said it was an extra. So I just ended up tossing it in my collection. The Smokey Joe comes in a few different versions so I was wondering if maybe one of the versions requires 5 washers and this one does not.. so instead of changing packaging up they just mass produce one generic assembly kit. Not sure lol it’s a theory!
So I just looked up online the Weber Smokey Joe “Premium” and it does in fact use all five washers. So they just use the same packaging for each Smokey Joe. Must save production cost to just run one set of nut and bolt kits. Hope this helps!
next to the dryer
I used my extra washer for the handle screw. Lol

Nice.....lol
I’m happy this happens to be the video I’m watching when I should be long asleep. Take care man
I got my Smokey Joe earlier this week. I've used it a few times. Can't believe I can make a steak or 4 burgers in less.than 10 minutes. I really like that you can close the vents and it goes out. I can save the coals for later instead.of wasting them.
Yesterday I cooked a Hatfield pork tenderloin. It took about 50 minutes on indirect heat. That was the juiciest piece of meat I've ever seen!
I put my grill together in less than 10 minutes thanks to you.I didn’t even have to read the instructions 😁👌
I never can put even the simplest items together- and this video made it a breeze! Like how you did the assembly and finsished with a simple grill demonstration.
Glad the video could help you out! It can be hard to assemble some things especially when the directions are not clear. Sometimes a video can help. Thank you for watching!
Hey. I want to thank you. My Smokey joe did not come with the instructions. Whoops. Your video made it easy to assemble. Thank you for your time. 🙏🏽😎❤

Thanks this really helped me a lot better than the book of instructions.
Saw this at Lowe's today for $49.99 😁 going to buy it tomorrow plus a really nice outdoor folding chair and a case of beer for the husband 😆
Perfect!! Now you will be set! They are perfect grills, you will enjoy it 😀
Those burgers look amazing! keep up the good work.
Thank you for your super-helpful video. Helps to have one extra person to hold the screws in place.
Thank you!!! I couldn't figure this simple little grill out. You saved me! Lol!!!
Very glad I could help!!! Enjoy your grill!
Thank you so much for showing me how to put this together. I appreciate it a lot. 😀 No man to help me out. It was a snap with your instructions! All set and ready to go now!-
Awesome video dude!!.. you answered so many questions I had watching your video. I just bought mine two days ago and burnt everything I put on it, but after watching this I now know what I did wrong and how to do it correctly next go around... thanks again

Wow awesome! Glad I could inspire you! You will enjoy it!! Thanks for the kind comment! :)
Great video! Terry helpful to assemble my Smokey joe
Bought one of these today for $45. Took me an hour to put it together. Watched this before I put it together, but still learned a lot. Didn't know about the lighter cubes & bought some lighter fluid, darn! This little cooker is so cute. I need to get the carry bag & a chimney.
I just bought one yesterday $45
Same grill I have. Been making everything from wagyu steaks, sausage, vegetables, hotdogs, burgers, etc. Im getting a bigger one soon but I have had tons of fun with this one.
That’s awesome! It is a great grill and you can do so much with them! Thanks for the comment!

Hey men, cool channel. Really enjoyed watching some of your videos. Keep the good work coming.
If I may ask, did you ever make that video with the mods for the Smokey Joe BBQ?
Great video man! I just bought a smoky joe myself although not on sale like yours Lol. Going to assemble it later.

Great!! You will enjoy it! It has been a great grill for me! Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much! This was such a helpful video
I bought my smoking joe in the late '70's. The kettle is very much the same, but 3 bottom vents. The legs are round 1/4 inch rod, and wooden handles instead of plastic. Still use it sometimes.
Nice I got one to I appreciate you very much for your time and sharing your video thanks again God Bless You
Thanks so much for this video , I assembled it so quick thanks to you !
DUDE! You saved me...thank you so much!!!!!

Food looks yummy. Thanks for it all.
Thanks for the help with the legs!
I got one in the UK for £75, was reduced from £99 too, looking forward to trying it out this weekend
just got this because I moved to an apartment complex and can’t really have a big one on my balcony. Though it’d fit, it’s a bit extra with more safety precautions. If I lived on the lowest level it’s be just fine but the Smokey Joe has to do
I'm 32 years old....an I have never grilled🥲 my work had a bunch of prizes and I happen to get this same exact grill about a year ago I just put it together two days ago an it's still sitting🥲 ima break this bad boi in one day😂
Ya gotta do it! Haha
Thanks!! This helped a lot!
Like your video style, hope you make lots more in the future to keep helping the uninformed like me.
Thank you! Yes I definitely will be making more videos! I enjoy it! Glad I could help 👍👍
Loved this video
Thanks!
Just a hint...on the bottom adjust vent...I 90 degree the 2 flaps drill holes and put threaded rod threw them to adjust the vent without burning your fingers

Very helpful, I had lost the handle screw in the carpet and panic because I thought the bigger ones where the only ones. Until I saw this video.
Thanks.
Glad I could help!!! 😊
Awesome vid
Thanks!
Thank you great video
Thank you!!! I had it done in 5 minutes!
So glad I could help! You will enjoy it I’m sure! 😊
How can I control my temperature and do I leave both vents open while cooking??
We've been watch a good many of your awesome videos 👍 .. New subscriber here ✨️ Cheers.
Very nice video!! 5 ⭐️
What was the fire starter blocks you used? Thanks! Great video! Just put my smokey joe together!
They are Weber Lighter Cubes. You can find them at most hardware stores that sell weber products. Walmart might have them as well!
I'm gonna use Loc-Tite on mine. Won't fall apart. Good grillin'.
That’s a great idea! It will be nice and sturdy then! Appreciate you watching! Happy Grillin’z!
I think at 3:43 it's supposed to be one of those locking washers. I only know cause i just put it together and had to take the legs back apart! But you had enough apparently so maybe its different now!
Thank you
Just bought a Smokey joe yesterday, glad I seen your hot dog boo boo, now I know what to expect.👍🏻
Haha!! Anything can happen when cooking on the Smokey joe lol I really enjoy mine! Thanks for watching 😊
Caracas L’OM au cœur hi! The holes on the bottom of the Smokey joe are air vents. You need these open in order for the charcoal to get oxygen. Place them in the open position and then start your charcoal. Might need to leave the lid off. when the charcoal is ready (when the top charcoal starts to show white ash you know your ready) you can return the lid and adjust your air vents to desired temperature for cooking. Hope this helps!!
Thank you so very much!!!!! Best video.... other's are too fast.... thank you, thank you!!!!!!🤗🤗
Such a cool truck! And I just assembled and cooked my Smokey Joe. Came to see what the other washers were for lol turns out I wasn't the only one
Edit: Also did you ever upload the mod video?
Haha thanks! No, I have yet to do a modification video. I will need to do that soon!
Thank you so very much!!!!
You are welcome! Glad it helped!
Thanks heaps!
What if I don't have the chimney starter...can i just put the charcoal in the normal way....Thank you for this video💯✔
You sure can! You do not need to have a chimney starter, I just find them very useful!
I really loved my 14" grill from Outdoor Solutions. Picked two of 'em up for about $15 each from HEB, which, evidently is only in Texas. They featured a removable ash catcher so you could simply twist it off and dump the ashes when you were done. It also had a handle which locked the lid down and allowed you to pick the whole thing up and carry it around. Which was very handy for moving, even when hot. You do that with this guy and all that happens is the lid comes off. Anyway, HEB no longer sells it and I can't seem to find it anywhere. This one has a very shallow pan for ashes and it's not even removable. The winds will just blow the ashes around. Maybe that's fine when camping, but do you really want ashes all over your deck or patio?
I’ll have to check that grill out. Sounds like a good one!
What a great deal
Ok. Stupid noob question: Is a chimney really necessary for such a small grill? Is there a chimney-less way to get the coals going? I guess I’m thinking it would be nice to keep it simple for travel and such. (Less stuff to lose and such. You know?)
Weber makes a wax fire starter that sounds perfect for travel when you don't want to bring your chimney. www.amazon.com/Weber-7417-Lighter-Cubes/dp/B001AN7RGG
Great.
thinking of getting something such as this. or maybe the square unit.
I have this one and I wish I had bought the rectangular one. More square inches for cooking and the legs fold up on the lid for easy transport
Great instructions made it easy to follow for quick set-up. I’m ready to grill!
So glad I could help! You will enjoy that grill. You will have to let me know what you cook first and how it goes! Happy Grillin’z!
Thank so much.
Glad I could help!
thank you !!!!
Your welcome! Hope it helped!
My only wish would be having the ash pan removable and a little bowl shaped.
i just use a small stainless steel bowl, fits on the ash catcher and serves the purpose.
15 dollars?! Paid 90 euros in the Netherlands hahaha, thanks for the video can't wait to use mine :)
Cool video
Thanks! It was a fun video to make! Do you own a Smokey Joe?
Nahh I'm just getting into small grills. You just popped up first on my RUclips search.
Lots different eating at the restaurant burger cook way you want it the taste is good
Whats that little burger maker/carrier you got there?
Bought the last one at home depot in central Texas for 37.99 plus tax.they are great grills
That’s awesome! They are great grills 👍
What is the size for the bolt of the ash pan assembly?
I can’t believe no one has commented on the knife. Is that a custom? Very cool blade.
It’s a helle knife I believe it’s the Harding model. Very nice knifes! I really like mine. www.helle.no/products/knives/harding/
Baum Grillin'z: Right on. I recognize the name, but I’ve never really looked into their products. I’ll have to check them out. I do a lot of camping, bushcraft, etc. The Scandinavian grind is really growing on me.
It would be great for that! You will have to check it out. Little pricy, but very good quality
Great Thanks! Made this super easy as the instructions that came with it were lame.
So glad I could help! That was the intention. Trying to clear things up a little bit! Enjoy your grill!!
Thank-you. Without your guidance I could have never done it. The instruction manual was pathetic.
Glad I could help!!
good vid very to the point, lol.
Hehe thanks!
I finally used mine today. So after I was done my charcoal was still burning. I closed the top vent went in. Several hours later the coal was still burning. I put the thing together and didn’t notice there was a bottom vent 🤦🏽♂️. Once I closed it I was able to put the coal out .
Lol well now you know haha
When cooking on that grill. Do i leave the bottom vent open or closed. As well for the top? Thanks man
You have to have them at least partially open for the oxygen, otherwise the fire will go out. He says below he usually leaves the bottom vent fully open for hot coals for his burgers. If too hot, partially close the vents I think.
@@kittybeck151 thank u
Did you get around to making the MOD vid? Thanks for the info! New sub here!!
Unfortunately I have yet to make the MOD video. Thank you for reminding me! Appreciate the sub welcome to the channel!
@@BaumGrillinzBBQ Hello... im a new in your channel... when the MOD video?

That is correct!

Where can I find a Smokey Joe on clearance for $15 ?!?
Is this the original smokey joe or the premium smokey joe? Thanks :)
original. the premium has 2 side vents, no bottom vent. the premium used to be called the portable.
Liked
I think the Smokey Joe is the best portable bbq
The Smokey joe is awesome! I do find it simpler to use as the vents are more user friendly.
