I'm a 16 year old transgender, born as a boy. I know how shit it feels to grow into something your not, I'm experiencing just how hard it is. This beautiful woman is such an inspiration to me, there is hope and when I see people like I feel there is hope. Thank you so much Janet.
I love you.
Am I the only one that was distracted by her hair? Wow...Gorgeous!!!
I cried when I watched this video. The part where she said "I know because I AM you" was really emotional for me, cuz as a transgirl (age 18 on HRT and desperately struggling with many things) I identify with her sooo much. Like her, I always knew since my earliest memory (approx age 4) and I never EVER doubted for a second I was a girl, and I constantly wished and hoped one day my body would show the REAL me.
You are beautiful and amazing Janet! Keep being an inspiration!
I'm a transgirl also, starting the transition next week and scared to Hell.
I'm happy to have found this video, especially since the T is so often left out in the LGBT and seems to just be there in the background, so this is definitely heartwarming.
Losing all your friends, most your family, job, and then getting stuck to being the loner at parties, and just being in your house is a shitty consequence I've gotten for making this choice.
But fuck it, can't hide forever.
Janet is such an inspiration. She is such a compassionate, intelligent, and well-spoken woman. She also happens to be completely gorgeous. She isn't "beautiful for a trans-woman" she is just a beautiful woman.
what a beautiful, strong and inspiring woman. thank you for having the courage to share your story and be a role model for young people who are trying to figure out who they are.
I find it hard to believe it will get better but it's because of people like her i still believe things can get better.
DITTO JTANDCK I TOTALLY AGREE... BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT... CONGRATZ AND THANKYOU A MILLION TIME OVER FOR SHARING YOUR STORY. I'M SURE IT WILL BRING SOME PEACE AND SUPPORT TO A WHOLE LOT OF YOUNG PEOPLE. YOU TRULY ARE AN INSPIRATION.
i just started to watch some of these " it gets better " videos and they are amazing. I wish that there was help back when i was transitioning. i had a friend that never made it and i told my self that i will not end my self, so now i live life the best i can loves from salt lake city,Utah -krystal
"I know because I am you" uhm is someone chopping onions around me? must be
I can hardly wait to read your book Janet!
How could a person not feel moved by this story? It is amazing how people that would say nothing face to face; be so frackin rude with thier comments! Keep up the good work young lady. Stay Beautiful and courageous!
Whenever I feel hopeless, I end up searching "It gets better + transgender" online. There's precious few videos out there, but this one always makes me tear up. Thank you, Janet. I'm FtM, and hearing from trans people who are out there living their dream give me hope.
I have never commented on a RUclips video, but I just have to tell you how amazed I am at your beauty (and I'm talking about the beauty of your soul!), courage, strength and grace. You are an inspiration for all people of compassion, not just the GLBTQ community. God bless you!
Coming across this video at a vital, transitional time in my life and I just want to say THANK YOU for sharing your story, it truly gives me hope and strength to move forward...
Thank you, Janet! Thank you for being a role model for trans people everywhere. I cannot wait for your book. And I love your podcast! I just CANNOT express enough gratitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the inspiration I have sought for 24 years.
Janet! This video gave me chills. Thank you for sharing your story and being so brave. Those smiling pictures of little you, are you! You always had the same loving, sparkling soul and it boggles my mind how you found the inner strength to get past other's judgments, ignorance and fear to become who you are truly meant to be. I'm glad you asked for help and never doubted who you are. There are no mistakes--you are perfectly you and thank you for sharing your journey! I love you!
Janet,
You are brilliant, beautiful and so intelligent...
Thanks for what you do for the Transgender cause ....
charlotte
You are the BEST Janet. You're story is my story, and I love you for what you have shared here. Truly beautiful, inside and out.
What a fantastic story. I am a gay man who has had, and to some extent, still has, some issues with coming to terms with who and what I am. I think you're amazing for being so brave. I'm so pleased you found your people! X
I needed you to tell me that years ago... where were you then? I'm teasing but I really did but thankyou for sharing with and showing the world and the youngsters now that really need to hear it... It gets better.
@chescaleigh its was such a joy to see you respond to this video Chess....thanks
I love this video so much. I have watched it maybe 50 times over the two years it has been up and I discovered the beauty and wonder and inspiration that is Janet Mock.
thnks so much i really needed to hear that cause im so broken
I can't speak for Janet, but I know why I feel that way. Given my social context, my experiences in my body, my understanding of myself and my excellent responses to transition treatment so far, “woman” is the gender category that makes the most sense for me (in fact, it’s the only one that makes sense for me). Not all of us can simply accept our birth assignments.
Wow you are absolutely stunning, thanks for telling your story!
i love you too Janet, i wish i could be as brave as you
Beautiful inside and out! Thank you Janet!
Thank you so much Janet Mock! You are an inspiration to so many!
thank you so much for sharing you are amazing. love kelly
You look incredible. Glad you can finally feel comfortable in your body.
We need more people like you Janet that 2:51 touched me mad respect and much success.
Just lovely - thank heaven you can be seen by everyone for who you truly are, and always were.
Iam so proud of you ,for not just passing because you could but for being who you really are God Bless you sweetheart
absolutely amazing!!!
you are a true inspiration to all of us who are going through this.
GOD BLESS you, and good luck in the future. :)
Wow. She is so gorgeous.
How is it that these trans women are so hot? Oh wait. It's because beauty is being who you are meant to be. Let's work for a world in which we can all be who we are meant to be.
You are just precious! Thank you!!
Your sister, Denise
thanks for sharing your story with youtubers, have a great week janet :)
You are gorgeous. Yes on the outside, but it's so obvious your beauty shines from within. The world is better because of brave people like you who are true to themselves.
I'm a prime example that things do not get better. I notice that women who say that" things get better" are very feminine in appearance. A feminine appearance counts a great deal on ones self-esteem. Yes, I heard many times you have to love yourself within but I never heard any women say that when their outside looks totally male. I lived a long life as a very depress woman. I have had all the routine medical correction but there is still something missing from being my true self. I my died of never knowing what that would be. At this age after living over 40 years as a depress woman of color its too late for me. I hope no on ever follow my same foot steps because you would be stuck with this the rest of your life, Never experience of having a friend. Rejected from the trans, and non-trans community. I completely closed out society out of my life. This is no life and I do not know how I made it this far.
@mooncooninc83, Women is a social construct just like when you try to define what a real man is. It varies depending what country you are in Being a real men in the US is not the same as being a a real man in Asia. That's when she say what a real women is based off "gender roles" which most of the women in the country doesn't fit either, so her stance is correct with quotation on "real" women, but if u saying female no she's not female but she a women b/c that what she's presenting to society.
Beautiful sentiment, I hope it reaches the people it needs to!
You are wonderful individual, and a beautiful woman-inside and out.
thank you for sharing your beautiful voice and demystifying stereotypes about trans-people. you are truly inspirational!
this was an excellent video... thank you soo much for sharing we will place this video on our blog for other transgenders to see and learn from...
Beutiful sentiment, I hope it reaches the people it needs to!
Fantastic and inspiring video - thank you for your courage!
You are an inspiration. Thank you for your story.
Thankfully there is far more love and positivity here that hatred , a testament to your character lady!
you are a godess janet, you will always be my role model
wow I love being a woman I never felt I was born in the wrong body! thank God I am comfortable in my own skin
Young Lady You Are JUST Too AWESOME!! I admire and respect You Very Much!!
For the first minute and twenty seconds of this video, I could have sworn you were reading something directly from MY journal. I am sure that many girlslikeus feel that familiarity when hearing your story. I regret not having transitioned earlier in life as you did, but I do not believe that my little town(or me for that matter)was mature or educated enough to understand what it is to be transgender. I waited until I was 40 - suicide or full transition were my only choices by then... Still here!
@jstar62488 the word "tranny" is very offensive.
I hope you see this...I've only heard of you, but have never seen you until now. I saw your little kid pics. I saw a cute little girl, not a boy. A lot of people only think gender is about having male or female parts, but it's much more than that. Good luck to you in future. You're beautiful--I hope you have a happy life. ^_^
That was awesome and very inspirational!!!
Good for you my love...ive been on hormones 7 months this monday and loving every moment.
Great job, Janet!
Thanks, Janet! It gets better!
Thank You. You give me courage to be myself.
You are beautiful. I watched this video so many times just to look at her skin, hair, and smile.

Thank you for sharing your story :]
The assholes on here are reminding me why I hate large portions of humanity. Janet, you are a beautiful soul, inside and out. Thank you for sharing your story, and for existing.
beautifull woman and beautifull words, trans sisters are doing it for themselves,
I hear you stranger. We, October's Desire are here and are on your side. Find us Facebook and we'll find a way to end this for you and all others.
@Fifty9Fifty808 I believe you mean you're "cisgendered" (coming from one cisgendered person to another). :)
And to Janet Mock, great video! Thanks for doing it!
thx for sharing, Janet!
the more folks are aware of our existence, the greater acceptance for our normalization.
♥♡♥
:)
Beautiful.... great support
@Eucepia those were religious eunuchs...there were other eunuchs in charge of teaching women in harems how to be ultimate women for the sultan

Janet Mock is a very attractive transgender woman, as a man myself, she sure caught my eye!
you are beautifulllll Janet. definitly born to be woman:) keep your mind strong as now. and be always proud of who you are. beijo
first , OMG how pretty are you ! second that is so ... sad , joyous , beautiful , hurt-filled and sweet .
All parents of GLBT kids should hear this, too .
Oh, Ms. Mock (Janet?), that was an AMAZING video. Your words are inspiration are beautiful and so obviously heartfelt--I wish I could play this in every junior high and high school classrooom in the world!
Inner beauty is what really counts of course, but I have to confess my honest-to-God first thought on seeing the video: You are simply freaking hot!! LOL
Thanks for being a voice for what's good and right--too little of that in this world!
@mooncooninc83
It would be wrong to call her a "fake" girl. There's no such thing as a "real" or "fake" woman, they're all woman.
it will get better trust
Beautiful and courageous!
Everbody have the right to be whatever gender desire. If you don't like your gender and if you can, just try to change it and be happy, no matter they say and no matter how hard is for you. Pursuing our dreams and think firstly about us is a priority, no matter people think about us.Congratulations on you, brave Janet! I stand by you...keep going on your dreams and be happy!
This was beautiful.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
You are an absolutely beautiful woman! Wow!
