The problema with Dallas was not the duo Luka and Kyrie, but the bigs, specially centers of the team, so, if they solve the defense and rebounding, this will work

National media is WAYYY too focused on the fit between Luka and Kyrie. The issue in Dallas was the surrounding pieces. They never got any chance to find any fit together because you can't hide them enough on defense with the roster the Mavs were left with last season.
The bottom line is, Dallas needs some capable defenders around them for us to even get a glimpse of what it would look like with these guys getting comfortable together. Obviously hypothetical, but if you had a starting lineup like Kyrie - Luka - Green - Draymond - M Robinson, I don't think we are sitting here talking about how Luka and Kyrie don't work together anymore.

@@imdbtruth if your a mavs fan, then you know they let him walk. They could’ve just money whipped him and he would’ve stayed but they chose not to. This all really started when they didn’t offer him the 4yr/55m contract (imagine that) the summer heading into his last season (due to his poor performances against the clippers in the playoffs). He ended up playing very well that season and then walked because he realized they saw him as a trade chip and not a cornerstone. He said he thought he was going to retire a mav. Cuban made the same mistake with Nash, who also wanted to retire a mav.
Moral of the story, Cuban is an idiot.

When you have an oversized star point guard that is ball dominant who doesn't play defense you want to surround him with another star point guard who is ball dominant that doesn't play defense. Not sure Dallas has enough bad contracts though, they might want more of those as well, in trades of course since they have no cap room due to bad contracts.

Kyrie missed GAME ON THE LINE SHOTS. Actual Games Lost because of Kyrie misses in late season games:
vs Wolves: TO down 3 Last Possession
vs Lakers Missed 3 down 3 last shot
vs Pacers Missed 3 down 2 last shot
That's 3 shots 3 games in his hands game on the line that he lost for the Mavs including 2 vs Hornets FFS. There's a difference between season averages and actual game situatuons aka REALITY as in what actually happened on the court not just on the stat sheet

Gtfoh a play in team with kyrie and luka they are a contender stop drinking the media kool-aid lmfao luka took this team to the western conference finals with jalen Brunson kyrie is a completely different player than undersized Brunson and it's not even close 😂

@@minseconds6850 Jalen Brunson just carried the Knicks in a respectable playoff run. Jalen was a big reason the Mavs made it as far as they did.

@arthurwright255 yea a good reason even though alot of that time in Dallas he's seeing secondary and 3rd defenders while luka eats the double and triple team everytime lmfao nice try clearly you didn't even watch dallas when they made it to the western conference finals until they made it 😂 jalen Brunson is no where near a 1st star on a championship team or even 2nd lol

Kyrie and Luka won’t work out well as a duo. Both needed to have the ball in their hands for their iso play. That’s their offensive style; but there is only one ball in court at a time. They make each other redundant. Secondly, they’re both fairly weak defensively. In a game where there are only 5 men that can play in the court at a time with at least 2 players that are weak defensively, then you are guaranteed to have a weak defensive team. All these are just reasons why they make a poor duo.
Of course, not to mention Kyrie has a long history of creating toxic team environment. This will most likely make him a poor choice for building team chemistry. People need to realize that Kyrie is a fool’s gold. He seems like an attractive proposition, but at the end, he is worthless in helping your team in winning Championship.

The Kyrie and Luka duo is basically a mirror image of the peak Brunson and Luka duo. But Luka and Brunson still had DFS and Dinwiddie... now Dallas still has to replace DFS and Dinwiddie who were easily their 3rd and 4th best players. It's largely a domino effect from Brunson leaving.
